Sikkens — Nightmare
We bought a very costly can of paint off the Paint Shop here in Hobart. We told them we have just reinstalled a new verandah on a 1906 house. It has been done in Tasmanian Oak and cost thousands to reinstall. We went to The Paint Shop in Hobart, and they recommended that we use Sikkens paint as its the best for this type of job, ie sealing or painting a new verandah.
Its been painted over three months, and every coat remained very sticky for weeks. It now is of course winter here and the dogs walk on it and leave feet marks. It wash brush off, I have to wash it at least three times to get a clean verandah. I have been told by a professional, that the paint we used it totally the wrong paint as it attracts dust. We would have to sand it all back and start again. costing us more money and time. A Sikkens expert has been otu 6 weeks ago, and hasnt got back to us, we have contacted him, and will he get in touch no!!!
So waht do we do, we cant afford to pay to get this put right, we have been months and months renovating this lovely old house to have this mess of verandah. So if anybody read this, I suggest you DONT USE THE PAINT SHOP HOBART, or SIKKENS PAINT. Its a nightmare.
