routinely defrauds expert contributors
JustAnswer is a scam. Experts work hard to answer questions and are frivolously not paid. Customers are given refunds for answers that they didn't want to hear, even when they are the correct answers. Almost incredibly, experts will receive an e-mail saying that customer X was delighted with the answer, only to discover that payment for customer X inexplicably disappeared from their earnings page. There is no phone to talk to "expert support, " only the owner's personal cell phone that is (quite obviously) ignored, though a huge call center in the Philippines is there to seize money from consumers. STAY AWAY FROM JUSTANSWER. THEY ARE BAD, BAD PEOPLE.
There is something awfully fishy about this Web site.
I phoned the heralded customer support number and was directed to a call center in India, where some gentleman claimed that he couldn't find the indicated fraudulent review--that it was "a problem with [my] network"--and wanted to take over my computer remotely. What a setup! When I said, "I'd like to speak to your supervisor, " he said, "NO!"
This is NOT a reliable board on which for anyone to post anything or read anything. Someone posts under my ID using a GMAIL account and an incorrect date of birth. I went through hell and high water to have "my" password reset. All in all, NOT THE LEAST BIT FUNNY.
I am not even entirely sure how this complaint got posted. Perhaps the prior gentleman is playing games with me.
My minor dispute with JustAnswer from last week--involving misunderstood refund policies--was completely resolved. I am not in the habit of posting to "consumer complaint boards" like a weakling.
Thank you for your understand. JustAnswer has demonstrated that they are extremely ethical and extremely professional. Further, their e-mail support for their expert contributors is second to none.
I tried to retract my post the moment I was informed what was going on and how the refund policy works. I cannot force complaintsboard to do anything.

many additional charges and unable to send a copy of file to expert
You provide them with your credit card # for an specific amount and then after you sign up, they want to charge you more money to have your question answered. After submitting my question, my "expert" asked me to send him a copy of my database, but when I try to do it I kept getting error messages. I called their support department and they asked me to send a copy of the file to [protected]@justanswer.com and asked them to change my needs to high priority since it has been longer than the time period promised. After emailing them a copy of my file, I received an email telling me that one of their agents would get back to you as soon as possible, often in just a few hours. Their email said "for immediate help, please visit our Customer Support Center" and the Customer Support Center is in blue which appears to be a link for immediate help. When you click on it, it does absolutely nothing.
Also, you have the option of taking a survey after speaking with the Support Department which never comes on so you can't give a rating for their services.

unauthorized charge to card
In December 2015, I had a question about my car that none of my backyard mechanics could answer so, I gave this site a shot. Asked my question and was charged 22.00. Their Expert replied to me with a question, I should be charging them for. Now in February 2016, my bank statement comes in with a 22.00 Charge from Justanswer.com
[protected]. NOT just a 22.00 charge but, a 22.00 Recurring charge, my statement says. I tried to contact justanswer.com at the number above which was on my statement and it is an automated system, gets you nowhere. However, I did cancel my membership and deleted my phone number, email address and credit card number, not that it will do any good but I figure it couldn't hurt. Everyone that has a complaint about justanswer.com need to come together and begin a class action against them. Why is America becoming land of the "FEE" and home of the "RAPED?" Maybe because of the mis-spelling of FREEDOM? It's more like FREE DUMB. Sure we are free to make most of our decisions Freely but the politics behind a lot of the BS keeps us DUMB as government starts back pedaling and cinching up the loopholes...

I agree, the exact same thing happened to me but I was charged more, $33.00 the first time for a single question/answer, then I was charged $38.00 a month for 3 months. I never signed up for a free trial or a monthly membership, only the one time question, which by the way was pretty much useless, I learned nothing that I already new form doing my own research on the internet.
I did not want to use service
I applied to your company for an answer to my dream.
I realised immediately whilst applying that I did not wish to continue and asked to stop. My request was not heeded at the very begining, so my bank acount was debitted with £3 deposit, then £18 for a question, and then £21 for membership which I did not apply for.
I really tried to avoid all this by canncelling upfront, but my request went unheeded. Mrs Sandman whom does the dreams said that she could not stop the bank charges.
My personal email address was not accepted, not sure reasons, so I was forced to give my work addresss and such emails are not allowed at my workplace as I am a Social Worker.
please try to help me get a refund and to stop furher money been taken from me. I cannot at this stage close my account to stop you from taking more money. This would be my last resort .

I contacted Boise on a problem I had with a new unit. The question was somehow posted on a company called Just Answers. I do not know how they got my credit card number but I was billed $45.00.
I suggest that you look closely at any questions you wish to have answered on-line. This company can somehow link you question with a credit card and will charge a very high price for a simple answer.

charged extra amount of 28 usd unnecessarily
Subject: Charged extra 28 USD
I have asked a question for an attorney on 22-Jan-2016 and paid 18 USD for it. After 7 days, I received email, stating 28 USD additional amount has been charged again to my credit card ending.
This is totally, literally unfair & unacceptable. They didn't send any mail/communication also regarding the account has been upgraded to membership or it will be upgraded. This is a unfair practice & hidden cost agenda to customer like me, who is so trust worthy with service of JustAnswer.
Straight to the point: I asked the question and I have paid for it. that's it. I don't want your extra service and charging additional 28 USD in my back. I want my hard earned money back. Tell me what details you need to get back my money back and also tell me how to cancel this membership so that I will be not charged like this in future.

not a scam
I had six questions that I had posted and Alex Reese, Intellectual Property Law, was able to address to all questions. I was happy with his response to my questions. I was a little confused with the pop up box and I was redirected to a different page that stated that time was expired. Regardless, my questions were general in nature and was pleased with Alex's response. I also feel that the price I paid was fair, because I understand that lawyers need to earn a living and sometimes can be taken advantage of because of their profession.
I have used JustAnswer several times and they always deliver for me. I asked once about my pet snake and the vet was great. They also helped me with my Toyota Tundra when it was making funny noises.
being charged twice for one question
I requested information about an old book. I have been charged twice for this one question. on 5/1/16 I was charged $5, on the same day $48. On the 13/1/16 I was charged another $53. unauthorized billing for a club you don't want to join
A couple of years ago, I went on their site and got a good answer. This time? A Disaster. Now, they force you to join their stupid club at $28 dollars a month. I had no intention of joining their club. I am happy with per answer charge. I had a problem and went to their side. I didn't mind the $5 deposit on or about December 1 to ask the question. My question was answered with a question. I did NOT respond but they charged me anyway as if they completed the answer. They are wrong when they claim that you must "accept" I didnt accept anything Then they started to charge me for joining their club and for answering my question with a qustion.. about 10 days after I asked my question. I telephoned them and their stupid response, was to read the FAQs and Terms of Service . I dont want to go on their site. I told them them to cancel me. I just got charged again. Talking to their Customer Service is a total waste of time. It appears their system is set up in a deceptive way to create problems. I have no desire to sign on their web site. all
I asked a question regarding an automobile issue. I paid the $20.00 fee, the web site said that there were 6 " Toyota Mechanics" available to answer my question. I clicked on the" estimated wait time" button, and it said "approx. 8" minutes. I asked the question at 9:29 a.m. At 2:54 p.m. I cancelled my "membership" and had them refund my $20.00 . At 3: 55 p.m. I received an e-mail that someone had answered my question. 5+ hours to wait was not impressive, after given an "estimated" 8 minute window...Today, I find that my e-mail is FULL of spam ! Just Answer obviously sells your e-mail address to outside agencies to pound you with unwanted/unsolicited e-mails...nice ! I would NEVER, EVER use this company...BEWARE !

unauthorized charges
I signed up to have one questions answered for $38.00. However, when I received my credit card bill there was another charge for $48.00 plus the $38.00, The explanation for the $48.00 was for a membership which I did not sign up for. I emailed the person who answered my question asking who I needed to talk to concerning this and never got a response. I tried to go back on their website and ask the question but it said I would be charged another $30.00. There is no where on their site to file a complaint or to contact someone that could help. I would not recommend using their site to anyone seems like a scam. Dennis

unauthorized credit card charges
On 29th October I asked legal questions online and the answer I received was satisfactory. A payment of $95.00 was charged to my Credit Card which I was happy to pay. On the 1st December another charge of $95.00 was charged to my Credit Card for a membership I never agreed to. I would like that membership to be cancelled and $95.00 to be credited to my Credit Card account. I never received any information, paperwork about this apparent membership and never agreed to it. I am quite furious at having been taken for a ride and I also think this charge is fraudulent. I really am hoping something can be done about this urgently. Please advise.
Hello,
Regarding you e-mail of the 15th January I would like to advise that my e-mail number at the time was either khummer1@bigpond.com or khummer1@iinet.net.au. I look forward to hearing from you again and receiving my refund of $95.00.
Thank you
Regards
Kathy Hummer
Hello Adam,
You can't find an account because there isn't one. I never agreed to a membership, there was never any paperwork and I never signed anything. So, I don't know where all this came from. I would like you to issue a refund by sending me a cheque to 88 Framptons Road, Childers Qld 4660, Australia and cancel and not take any more payments out of my credit card.
I was happy with the consultation from JA, so I am happy to pay the first $95, but not the one that was charged on the 1st, December. So, I would expect a refund of $95.00. If there is a problem with that please contact me again.
Thank You
Kind Regards Kathy Hummer

Hello,
I have also requested a refund. My question was never answered and also never received a comment about a refund. Due to the many negative comments about JustAnswer I am beginning to feel this site may be a scam!

membership fee charged to my credit card
On 11/13/2015 I used their service for information on truck repair job. I was pleased with their service and agreed to pay $23. for the service. We were so pleased we even agreed to $5. tip for the mechanic who assisted us. Those charges are fine. Transaction reference number MT153180239000010005996 and same number ending in 95 instead of 96. Then they charged another $5. not sure why, but that ref # MT153180240000010002284. Then on 11/20 we were charged $28. ref #MT153250239000010005833, only explanation says reoccurring transaction. I am not pleased with the additional charges beyond the first 2 which I agreed to on 11/13/2015. I expect those fees to be removed. Any questions you can reach me at [protected], or email [protected]@yahoo.com. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Sincerely Diane Northrup

money taken from my acct. and no answer
In May I joined just answer to ask a question about my granddaughters condition, every time I tried to get my answer a notice came up saying I need to update my payment info. And it still says that and it is now October 30th. Yet every month since May just answer has taken 51.98 from my acct. On the 30th of every month. I have received no answer still and now do not want an answer I only want the money that has been taken from my acct. For the past six months. I have put in many complaints with no answer. I no longer choose to be a member and want a full refund for the past six months. I am very displeased at how you run your business. If I do not receive conformation of my money being returned I have no other option than to report you to the better business bureau. That being said I hope I receive a reply and the return of my money soon. Disappointed and angry customer Patricia Navia

billing practices - amount to an on line scam!
October 8, 2015 The Just Answers web site advertise "7 day free trial" on the condition that an answer be met with an "fair share" compensation for the expert. : In other words don't ask a question and cancel to avoid paying, "fair enough"! I asked a simple automotive question with an $16.00 charge and received a two sentence simple & obvious answer. (That much I knew and said so in my question.) A second e-mail exchange gave me the technical information I requested. I even tipped the source $8.00. That totals $24.00. The GM expert was identified as M. P. Moore. I cancelled my "7 day free trial" (membership) within the allotted period only to receive two charges to my bank card. $40.00 Oct 8, 2015, and $40.00 dollars Oct 15, 2015. A call to billing about $80.00 charges was: 1. I asked an $40.00 question. REALLY? 2. The second charge was for a months membership, Even though I had cancelled and closed the account. 3. They weren't sure they could give me a refund at least for the $40.00 because I had closed my account. After a heated insistence on my part they at least refunded the membership. The question still cost me $40.00.
double deducting payment of credit card
I asked a question on justanswer.com . I filled in my credit card details. I was happy with the answer I received therefore I paid the required R400. I then gave a tip of R140. Six days later a further R540 was taken of my credit card. How do I get my details of this site and how do I get my refund. This is fraud,

don't use it
I tried to ask a veterinarian question. Before they will answer your question, you have to provide your name, email, credit card information, answer questions about whether or not you want to enroll in a monthly unlimited questions program for a month to month fee or just ask a question for a one time fee, etc. I got everything entered, asked my question, and was left on the hook for 2 hours. After 2 hours, they took a $5.00 deposit and closed my question with no answer. My question had to do with my dogs getting into some food that could be potential toxic. After 2 hours, does it really matter? At this point, they have started to digest what they got into. I was led to believe a veterinarian was answering my question, as her face popped up in a message box like I was almost Skyping her along with her experience and credentials. After 2 hours, my question was closed with a message to call Customer Care with any questions. I spent another 1/2 hour on the phone with a representative explaining to me how their system works and still trying to get me to spend the $19 quoted for an answer. I would not use this service again or recommend using it.

Bruce, as a longtime expert who has used and loved Justanswer for years, I am appalled you would post something like this.
And do you know what lead me here? I seen a question you opted out of where the customer repeatedly kept asking you for help and you sent one reply with 3 sentences total. And that reply was completely inaccurate and incorrect. So I googled your Justanswer profile and this is the first thing that showed up.
Justanswer does not fraud experts or customers. YOU however, did fraud the customer who had a microsoft office license issue. You committed fraud the second you picked up that question and gave a 3 sentence response and then completely ignored the customer after that. And you expected to be paid at the customers expense for a 3 sentence answer?
You either work for a competitor and you are intentionally trying to make the website look bad ( corporate sabotage) or you are used to working for a big box corporate tech support company where you could give wrong answers without oversight. You see, thats how lazy, inept and inaccurate that your extremely short response was.
Thankfully, we do peer review new experts because even when someone can prove their background and verify their credentials, it doesnt mean they should ever be in a position to give advice on any computer issues. You are a prime example.
Now, knowing that I cannot get paid for most of the answers you touched, Im going to go through the list and when I see anything with your name on it I will personally try to reach out to those customers because they came to us seeking help, real help. And I intend to provide it.
You are a prime example of whats wrong with "tech support" nowadays. Your prognosis and diagnosis of issues is completely incorrect, and whats worse is you actually think you are right. But enough about you. Because you are clearly an employee of a competitor or someone who needs to pick an easier field to work in. Something where your lack of knowledge wont cost honest people money.
As far as Justanswer itself Every single thing you said was so inaccurate that again it seems like you are being "intentionally" inaccurate.
Now, after 9 years of working at Justanswer, the only bad thing I will say about our company is that they havent suspended or fired you already. Every question you pick up from this point forward makes us all complicit in your fraud.
And hopefully Network Security Labortories Inc. ( intentionally mispelled as you mispelled it in your JA profile ;), Hopefully thats a non existent made up company that you are the principle of. If you have actual customers I worry for their computing safety, seriously Bruce telling someoone who cant find their office product key " this is what you get for upgrading windows" ! Id laugh, if that wasnt a real person who paid hard earned money for help. Now, Im done with this personal message to you. Im going to help the customers who you are too inexperienced to help. Most, will still get refunds and after dealing with you, they deserve it.
Nothing you do, could ever be considered working hard, unless your job is make yourself and any company who is unlucky enough to hire you, look bad.
