DHL's tracking site stated they left a package at my front door. I was home the entire day in question and never saw DHL once. FedEx seemed to deliver a package to my brother that same day with no problem. After playing phone tag with customer service at DHL, it turned out that the idiot driver delivered it to the wrong address. And then when he tried to retrieve it, he failed at that too! In this day and age, how does a delivery service of all services get an address wrong??? Also, when I had raised the issue with a customer service representative from 1-800-CALL-DHL, the representative was very cold and sounded as though it was a normal occurrence that their drivers deliver packages to the wrong address.
DHL Delivery sucks. I worked at a famous Retailer. DHL was so bad on deliveries and theft, they were about to lose their good reputation for customer service.
My personal experience. I asked the Marriott Hotel in VA to ship my belongings from my room to me at home. There was about $2500 in clothing and computer software. My things never got delivered to me at home. I called for about three weeks and finally found out the processing center in Ohio, where my things were shipped, hired homeless people who constantly pilfer what they want. My box was found empty. I called the local authorities who informed me that they get 5-6 calls per day from people with the same theft complaint at DHL. Because Marriott did not insure my things, I got a check for $100 from DHL and no apology. They really did not care about me and denied that they hired the homeless. Don't think the sheriff there had any reason to lie to me. DHL is the liar!!!

Awhile ago I needed to sent a package containing an ID document to the USA.
Upon refering to DHL Office in Tehran I was surprised to learn these 2 facts.
According to the DHL representative it would take 8-9 days for the package
to reach it's destination. Secondly, DHL office told me that they would not give
me a recipt for my mail in case it got lost because of it being an ID document .
They claim that they have no control over the US service and they might
confiscate the mail. If DHL HAS NO CONTROL OVER THE US service they'd
better not accept the mail. Besides, 8-9 days seems outrageous. For DHL
TO VERIFY MY CLAIM THEY CAN EASILY SENT SOME UNKNOWN CUSTOMER TO
ATTEND THE SAME SITUATION. It takes a normal air mail 8-9 days to reach US
from Iran. By the way I used DHL to sent my mail to US via Tuky and it arrived
in 2 days. I believe that DHL in Iran is not being supervised efficiently and they
can commit any kind of rip off as they wish.
Actually, this should be a complaint for DHL & the USPS. I ordered some clothes from Anthropologie on 3/11/2008. My package was shipped on 3/13/2008 with DHL. I tracked my package. Tracking said that DHL left it with the USPS. It also stated that the package was "delivered & confirmed" on 3/15/2008 (a Saturday.) I have not received the package yet. I called DHL & the USPS. They are pointing fingers at each other. My postman called & said he didn't deliver a package to me that day. I keep getting bounced between the two. I called Anthropologie to put a trace on the package. Anthropolgie's policy is that they have to wait for 14 days before they can trace the package. So, I am out $215 & no product. If they have to reship, one of my items is already on backorder!
Really disappointed with DHL in Western Canada. They are very inefficient and disorganized. I am still waiting for a package to be delivered. Their driver has been sitting on it for 4 days, as he cannot find my house. I have given them directions, told them to get a map, look up on google etc, but they still cannot find it. I have made 7 phone calls, but still no package. Lets see if what happens now.

I called DHL to reschedule a delivery---the DHL rep kept me on hold 34 minutes and was very rude. I emailed the corporate office and confirm that my package will be redelivered 2/1/08 AM *but no guarantee it will be early morning. The corporate rep suggested that I call that morning to check the status of my package. Once I called I was informed that per my "request" it was changed to PM delivery by the same rep I complained the prior day -- but It was not a personal issue. Also that their phone calls at the "station" are not recorded in order to review my "request". At the end I had DHL send the package back to the retailer **if not God only knew when I would get this package. The rep would have continue to change the delivery day & time.
DHL driver was specified to ring (noted on the package). He didn't bother. He didn't bother to request a signature either.
He just dropped the package in the mail box.
I purchased an item from an e-tailer. They shipped package on January 10 from Tennessee. I reached DHL's Riverside, CA warehouse on the 13. A total of four days for 2000 miles. DHL moved package to Los Angeles warehouse on the 14th. Then on the 15th, they either moved it to another Los Angeles warehouse or shifted the package within the same warehouse. Finally on the evening of the 15th, they claim the package is ready for delivery. I assume this means it will be put on a truck for delivery on the 16th. The last 60 miles took three days. My package sat around their warehouse for no apparent reason for over 24 hours.
I contacted O2 about upgrading my contract on my mobile phone and getting a new phone after being with O2 for several years. I upgraded and was to receive a new O2 XDA pda phone in the post the following day. I received several E mails from O2 confirming the dispatch of the phone to DHL. I was given a tracking number to track the delivery and thus checked as to when this would delivered. I am a teacher so i requested the phone be delivered to the school where i could be summonsed by the Office staff to sign for my new phone. Upon looking at the tracking I found it telling me the item had been delivered and signed for by a Mr Taylor. I looked in the office and asked the office staff if anyone had seen or signed for a parcel from DHL. No one had. The head teacher of the school is Mr K Taylor. and this is written on the school sign however On the day of the delivery Mr Taylor was absent after an operation. The courier DHL told me it had been signed for by Mr Taylor and they had his signature, something impossible as he was not in school and had not be once I had spoken to him. DHL say they are investigating but cannot do much now hey have a signature. This is a joke as O2 May not replace the phone on the strength that it was signed for. What a rip off. If you want a new phone, do yourself a favor and avoid delivery, go t a shop.

I ordered an I phone yesterday through ATT and they express shipped via DHL. I have never received the package although they say they have delivered it. ATT will not send me a new phone. DHL will not refund ATT since ATT never insured it! I am the one without the money ($450) and the phone! Detail: I had a road trip scheduled for tomorrow and need the phone. Now besides everything I have to delay the trip because stupid DHL!!! I will never use them again and I will tell everyone I know not to!!!
DHL is a joke as a delivery service. I ordered a camera for my daughter from Kodak (Memphis,TN). This was shipped overnight on December 22nd. Today it is December 27th and I still have no camera. It has been sitting in their facility since December 24th, it was scanned in at 7:10 am. They put on the tracking info that I requested it be held there waiting for me to pick it up. That is the first lie of many that this company has told in regard to this delivery, or should I say non-delivery. I've been told high volume over the holidays (hello... it's Christmas), bad weather (hello... it's December in the Northwest... it snows here), two delivery drivers quit... two hours later 4 drivers quit... It has been lie after lie. Joe from customer service (wow... he is in the wrong department) was rude and arrogant - he told me it will be delivered by Friday! All I can say is don't let your packages be delivered by this pathetic company. Stick with UPS or Fed-Ex, they have delivery services not excuses!!! - Monica.
Overnight package send via DHL on dec10 as of dec22 can not even get an answer at DHL. When you finally wade through the automated messages. You are informed the hold time is greater than 15 minutes and call back during business hours. Well my wife and myself both have called since the 12th and still no package. This has to be the worse customer service not to mention delivery in the world.

Dell uses DHL shipping company to send electronics when purchased online. I purchased a very expensive piece of electronics and it was shipped by DHL out of California. I used the ability to track shipment online and saw they would attempt delivery on the 13th which is the day I was out of state on business. When I inquired, I was told Dell requires signatures on their electronics and they would attempt delivery and when I wasn't there, they would leave directions on my door how to pick up my delivery in person at their closest location. Dell also indicated signature required on my order. Just to make sure, I left a HUGE note on my door with a magnet clip telling the delivery person not to leave a package but to leave directions how I could pick it up next day (Friday) at their nearest location. when I returned home very late at night the 13th, there was the package, out in the weather, in plain sight on my doorstep. the note was still on my door, also in plain sight. when I complained to DHL, they sent back a canned email note "sorry we didn't meet your expectations". Dell has not responded. I won't buy from Dell again if they continue to use this shipper. I do not live in an area where electronics or other expensive items should be left in plain sight. I was so very lucky it wasn't stolen or badly damaged by weather. DHL is not a good shipping experience.
UPDATE: Dell responded and gave me a 15.00 credit for my inconvenience and were very responsive in their email reply. GREAT SERVICE from Dell. I just hope they don't use DHL in the future.

I just used DHL Services to send a suitcase from Paris to my friends in Barcelona who were leaving for a cruise. They needed their suitcase with their clothes. DHL promised the suitcase would be there and could be picked up by Friday, the 19th of October. I sent the suitcase on the 15th. It took me a whole day trying to get the phone number and the address of where the suitcase could be picked up. It was promised for Friday. People on the phone in Madrid were extremely rude, and refused to deliver any information about their Barcelona office, saying that they were not to answer any international phone calls. The people in France had no address for their Barcelona office. A dozen e-mails were exchanged, always automatic, please call the same number in Spain. Many times they hung in my face. Finally when my friends went to pick up their suitcase in Barcelona, DHL was closed during their office hours. When the Cruiser's concierge tried to have the suitcase delivered on the boat, after a three hour negotiation DHL flatly refused and hung up in their face. My friends were forced to go on the cruise without their suitcase. After paying 211€ for a failed service and extremely rude communication, I think I should be reimbursed.
I had DHL ship a painting to my home in India (I am a british expat). It was shipped in a very sturdy container. The painting cost me 700 USD , a price which is well documented. The DHL delivery person delivered the painting exposed, on a motorbike while it was raining heavily. It was ruined.
After a very long and stressful process of emails not being responded to and attempts to fob me off completely, they have admitted their failings and offered 100 USD compensation. This despite the fact that they deviated completely from their own standard practices and failed absolutely to deliver as per the standards they set themselves and promise to us as customers. This is, to anybody with even a faint grasp of ethics, is totally unacceptable.
Their response sadly shows how utterly irrelevant we are as customers to these huge faceless companies. If I was responsible for damaging a customers goods through woeful neglect and complete deviation from the quality of service I had promised to that customer, I would have the decency to pay them for the damage my actions had caused. Not so DHL.
The sad thing is that the stress of having your shipment destroyed through incompetence is small compared to the stress of trying to be compensated or even recognized by the company that did it. The response simply adds insult to Injury. This is an awful company to be done wrong by.
