I am a current wendys employee and I believe that some of our employees are being treated unfairly... First of all, me. I was tld to slice tomatoes one night at about 830 pm for the next morning and I wasnt even nicely asked she just told me I had to and I was in the middle of doing other things so I told her that I wasnt going to to them because I was in the middle of doing things night shift is supposed to do and I didnt feel it was right for me to have to do morning crews job when I wasnt morning crew so my manager sent me home.2 days later I called out because I am pregnant and was having stomach pains and needed to see a doc so she cut my hours for the next 2 weeks... When I told the manager above her she just agreed and said I should have listened to my manager on shift... Then next 2 times I worked w// the manager who sent me home she made comments abut how she would make me slice tomatoes one night... So I asked her for corporates number and she told me she wont give it to me because she will get in trouble which tells me it is against policy to slice tomatoes the night before so why am I being penelized for not doing something that I am not supposed to do in the first place...

Thats me but there is also a girl I work with who gets 5 hrs a week but wants more and they tell her there are too many people workin to give her more hrs but they hire new employees! She is now being told she doesnt get her hrs because she doesnt do gher job right (No one ever trained her properly to give her a chance) so then she got more hrs next weekend they gave her 4 to close and 5 to close this weekend she asked a fellow employee if she could take her shift the manager on shift ok'd it but as soon as the manager who writes schedule found out she took one of next weeks days away

Please some one tell me what we can do about all this!

to add to stealth pilot's comment he is right that food poisoning is easily diagnosed; but also it usually take 2 or 3 DAYS before any affects to the body are even noticed. Could it be you ate something else other than Wendy's for 3 days? And of course you washed your hands after transferring money (or credit card) at the window before eating your food. I guess you didn't though did you. and because you got sick Barbara in drive thru must have been an A-hole right?

I must say, I am fortunate to work at a Wendy's with nice, hardworking managers. I have no trouble calling in, and they treat us like co-workers; not slaves.
However. I would like to bring up the fact that the crew only gets half off their meals, while the managers get free meal benefits. Now, I know it's not their fault or anything, and I'm not blaming them, BUT I do think it would be fair for us regular employees to get a free meal after our hard work, even if it's some kind of deal like "you work x hours, and get a free meal" I mean come on.

I also work at wendys where the employees are treated very badly. For the past month have been harassed by some of the workers and when i confronted the GM I got into trouble because I just needed to drop it and let them harass me. So i asked him for the Speak Out number. He started cussing me out and refused to give me the number. I then proceeded to ask the other managers and they too refused to give me the number because they were told not to give the number to me. I am asking if any of you may have the number or tell me how i can get it? We are suppose to have a poster in the break room but the managers never put it up and they refuse to let me see the employee handbook..

Wendy's managers have to be the rudest people I have ever seen. I have two children who work for them and they are constantly being harassed by management and if they say anything they have no hours the next week wonder why nothing gets reported because they are afraid of not getting a pay check if they do! This store has Managers who come to work drunk then when the buzz is wearing off the yell at the kids what the heck is human services do if they don't correct the problem looks to me like all the complaints are similar and yet things remain the same maybe need to go public to get anything done. I keep telling my children to leave, but the economy is so bad it is hard for kids to find jobs, and everyone know Wendy's hires mostly kids because adults would not tolerate this treatment from a boss!

Ok, first of all why? Its is the opening manager's job to slice tomatoes and onions and everything else. They cannot make you do it. I don't care what they think, just get a hold of the "speak up speak out" program. They can clarify everything for you. Just look at your hiring booklet and the contact info should be in there for your viewing. Good luck with all of this.

See the thing is that how did you know that everything was when you was going to your vehicle? The thing is that people lie like that all of the time. They do it to give us a bad name. The hamburgers cannot be cold and dried out. It is literally impossible, becasue there is always grease of the patty. Plus, if everything was cold when you got home, duh, things get cold on the way home, its freaking common sense. Use your brain. If you have a problem with me, get a hold of me via e-mail: Doblin_Moor23@yahoo.com Just let that sink into your brain for a little bit.

I work at a wendy's in York, Pa. I have a hard time dealing with the manager above me, she's a total [censor]. She verbally harasses everyone of the crew members, and it gets tiring listening to her [censor] about the dumbest things. She's very frugal, to the point of crossing sanitary boundaries to save money for the company, her mind is in the right direction but going a bit overboard. As for breaks and such we have no problem, but this is a first I've heard of the 10min breaks every four hours. We usually get one 'walk'(which is basically a 5min smoke break) once a night. And as for cutting tomatoes, the other night i had to make two pans of tomatoes because i would've been out the rest of the night. I just barely passed on not having to cut onions, everyone ordering doublestacks got extra pickles lol.

But i think the whole sexual harassment subject is completely ridiculous! That manager should've been fired! we joke around if it's allowed (depending on the person) but none of my managers or crew would grope anyone else at work.

We're constantly bringing in new employees and it's making it hard for the day-shift people to get the same amount of hours. I, myself don't have to worry about that, i'm a closer. But anyway if you really want to get back at your managers or ex-managers, Look up the district managers number and give a complaint, if nothing happens then contact their manager.

You must be a manager, Dianabell. I've done my job when I was told to do it. OK! My complaint is that the managers have nothing to do but find reasons to fire someone. I quit about two weeks ago. I'm very happy with my decision. I left because I was tired of being treated like crap. My managers would make fun of me and find any reason to pick on me. First, I needed to speak up. Then, I was too loud. I was told to ask for help if we were busy up front. When I did, I was told to mind my own business. I even got harassed sexually. I complained to my general manager about it that day. She seemed concerned at first. Her jaw even dropped. The next couple of days later, I was called into her office with the harasser. (Another manager). I explained the situation again. The accused denied the event, of course. My manager asked me why I didn't tell her about it sooner. I told her that I did. She claimed that she probably wasn't in her right mind. She claimed I hadn't told her. I had told some friends from work about the incident before this conference. I knew that I was telling the truth, because I am a bad liar and I don't make things up.

I went in to my old wendy's tonight to see who was there and to get something to eat. I was talking to one of my old co-workers and she told me some really unbelievable stuff. She told me that she had gotten suspended for a whole week because she had complained about being harassed by one of the managers. Guess what? Same manager. She told me that he had groped her. She told him not to do that and he sent her home. That's just [censor]. He hasn't been suspended or fired once.

Also, another former co-worker of mine was fired because he needed just one day off to take care of stuff he needed to take care off. If they can't afford to let you off for one day a week, then how can they afford to fire someone. Plus, my friend was told to stop talking and find something to do, but the managers have time to sit around and make up complaints about a crew member. She was just telling me about her experiences lately at work and she was working on front register and there were no customers around. HELLO! What's wrong with Wendy's? We need Dave back.

I worked for a store in Central Ohio.

Hello,

I can't believe everyones reactions over working at Wendys. I think all of you expected fast food to be easy and when it wasn't you want to [censor] about it. NO job is perfect welcome to the real world and the work force people! GROW UP! If you are asked to do something from your supervisor aaaaaa helllo you need to do it. Maybe you were out of tomatoes for the rest of the night! maybe they were going to be short handed the next morning and she wanted to help them. This is why u are an employee and will not be moving up because you [censor] about being the [censor]... this is why they hired you! IF you dont get hours is because you bittch to much or really lazy...wendys is the easiest place to work at if you shut up and do your job. Good luck making it in the real world!

Wendys is the worst place i've ever worked in my life! all of these story are definately nothing new to me. The [censor] managers are the ones to blame. i also have an [censor] of a manager who makes me feel like an idiot and worst of all embarasses me infront of the customers. even many of the people who come in to order have told me that the employee treatment there is unbelievable. like what the [censor] dont these stupid supervisors have any sense? i work at a canadian wendys restaurant and i was pretty shocked to see that the employee treatment is the same at every wendys. only reason im still at wendys is because i need the money for school and no one is looking for workers.

I didnt think there were this many people that felt the exact same way about how this company is run as i do. I am currently a full time college student and i work during my breaks from school. Ive been working for the company for almost 4 years now and didnt have any major complaints, until now. A shift supervisor, new to this particular store but not new to the company, has given my brother, other employees, and myself a very difficult time. She constantly makes demeaning comments such as "men have more monkey in them", and asked Hispanic (non-Mexican) employees "do it be resl hot in Mexico". She will sit in the store office for hours and eat the stores food (without paying for it). She will occasionally venture out of the office only to get more food or pile even more tasks onto the busy employees she oversees before she returns to the office. Working to save enough money for school is vital for my education and at this vital the same manager took it upon herself to terminate me without my knowledge. she terminated me for making the personal choice to get a easily concealed piercing. i have about 2 more weeks to work and save until i have to go back to school and now im being told by a shift supervisor that im fired and cant even finish my last two weeks until i remove my completely concealed piercing.

I applaud everybody that had the courage to do something about being treated like inferior beings by made of nothing less than we are. I also respectively urge the people that think that we are just complaining to go out and use all of your hard earned money on a little bit of compassion (i'll leave it at that).

Something must be done.

I'm completely horrified by the misspellings and poor grammar by the posters on this board. No wonder you work at Wendy's. I'm surprised you can even fill out a deposit slip at the bank to put money in your savings account.

As "Tired_of_Stupid" stated, "GROW UP!". You are not going to have the plush lovely job you think you deserve, this is life, you must work hard and if that means you must slice tomatoes at night, then sobeit.

boo-who.

I know this is a little late and I'm resurrecting an old topic, but I just have to tell my story.

All of these complaints sound very eerily familiar to me. See, I work at a Wendy's in Michigan and all of the same things are going on at the one I work at. I got hired in at my Wendy's at the end of September of last year, and I was told when I hired in that I would have "A little bit of a wait" to get on the schedule. I didn't have a problem with that. I figured "a little bit of a wait" would be maybe a week. Boy, was I wrong! It took them a whole month to get me started, and ever since I've been there I've been getting mostly anywhere from three to five hours a week, and the only thing I ever get to do is wash dishes and mop floors. I have never really been trained or given a fair chance. I asked the manager about a month ago if I was ever going to get any more hours, and I was basically told "no" because I'm not competent enough to be able to handle anything else by myself. (Well, maybe if I was actually TRAINED I might be able to do a better job. DUH!) I can't do anything right there. Everything I try to learn I get yelled at for doing. They are only giving me three to five hours a week, and for the longest time I was getting yelled at because I could not remember things, like the right order in which salads are made, what goes on them, and where they go in the coolers once they are made. If I was given the opportunity to come to work more than one or two extremely short shifts a week where I had the chance to do things repeatedly and given some proper training, I might remember stuff!

Another thing I don't understand is how come out of all the places I have worked I have had NOTHING but EXCELLENT reviews, and now all of a sudden I'm a horrible employee?

Oh, and this really burns me up. I have a dentist appointment this Tuesday at 9 AM. Last week I wrote a note to the manager who does the scheduling and I told her about my appointment and I asked her to please not schedule me for Tuesday morning so I could make it to my appointment. I figured it shouldn't be that big of a deal for them to not schedule me for that day, since they've only been giving me two hour shifts anyway. So today I go in to get my schedule for this coming week, and I'll be danged if she didn't schedule me Tuesday morning at the exact same time my appointment is! So I went to the manager today and told her I had a problem with coming to work on Tuesday and explained it to her. I even said that I wrote a note to the manager who does the scheduling about it. She told me the only thing I could do was see if somebody wanted to pick up my hours, which I'm kind of doubting they will, because I'm scheduled from 8 to 10 AM, and it's been my experience that at the Wendy's I work at that nobody wants to work early in the morning like that. So now I have to deal with the headache of finding a replacement, and if I can't find a replacement I'll have to reschedule my dentist appointment. All this big of a headache for something so simple!

I should also mention that with the exception of four people there, the employees there are some of the most unfriendly people I have ever met in my life. I have tried talking to them and being friendly to them, but it's no use. It reminds me of a high school clique, and if you're not part of the "crowd" then you're nothing at all. And they seem to feel the need to pepper every sentence with cuss words, and sometimes very generously. I'll admit that I'm nowhere near perfect, but I very seldom use any of those words, and I think it's really unprofessional to use them that much at work. So I have pretty much resorted to just going in, doing my work, and not really saying anything to anybody unless I have to. There are a few people I talk to, but that's it. One of them is a guy who has worked there just about as long as I have and is getting treated the same way I am with hours and everything else.

I have never had a job before that I disliked so much in my life. There is so much stress there, and it stresses me out on the days I have to be there even before I actually start working. Another thing that's ridiculous is it's actually costing me more to go to work than I'm making there. By the time I get up and get around in the morning, drive there and drive back home, I've spent everything I've made that day. And you want to hear what really sucks? As much as I would love to do it, I can't quit. I'm currently collecting unemployment from my last employer, and I called the Unemployment Office and explained the situation to them that I am having with Wendy's right now and the hours they are giving me, and I told them it's costing me more to go to work than I'm actually making at work. I asked them if I had to keep my job at Wendy's to be able to keep my unemployment benefits, and they told me yes, I have to, because my job at Wendy's is still deemed to be suitable employment to the State Of Michigan! Arrrgh! So I'm stuck there getting at a maximum five hours a week until they either fire me or I find another job, and, as most of you know, there's hardly any jobs in Michigan!

Sounds to me as most of you on here are super spoiled and don't want to WORK at all... period. "Working from 8 to 10 no one wants to work those hours..." WHAT?
You "Couldn't remember where they keep the salads or what they put on them...SERIOUSLY? Your kidding right?

There's a reason I'm leaving that place. the management sucks, I have a 3 min timer on my watch which I hit the second I go offline and I'm always back with 2-3 mins to spare and still get yelled at for taking "too long of a break". No free meal. I gave them completly open availiability when the summer started and they only gave me 25 hours a week, so I started a full time job somewhere else and told them I could only work 20. Now they're all mad at me for limiting my availiability and not working enough. If they don't fire me by the time summer ends I'm quitting adn keeping my new job.

i absolutly agree. ok i worked at wendy's for almost a year till about a while ago. i got fired bc i didnt show up for a shift that i was not on the schedule for. now about a month previously i had walked in on the store manger stealing money and putting it in her purse and i didn't say two words about it till she tries to blame another manager for the money coming up missing. she has hired her daughter in my place{ how convenient that she got a job that she isn't even supposed to have} at out store we are lucky to even get our half hour break and if we asked if we got a break they got mad and said "if i give you a break you'll know"
the only pple that get to keep their job are the pill heads like the manager {also a drunk} and ppl who they have caught on camera fighting with other employees and smoking pot. i still have a couple of friends who work there so thats why i am bieng so vague about this bc i dont want them to lose their jobs. i think the store manager should lose her job for stealing running the store like its her own personal slave factory and hiring her daughter bc the girl doesnt work when she's there and gets every weekend off when the ppl who have kids that work there work 10 - 14 days straight without a day off. i live in a right to work state so there really isnt a whole i can do but i would like to encourage anyone to not go to wendy's in north carolina wadesboro or rockingham .

i just started working at wendy's about 3 weeks ago and everything was going fine...a couple days into my first days of work i started noticing little things that annoyed me..In the employee handbook it states that we get a 30 minute lunch break and a 10 min break for every 4 hour shift worked. So I asked my manager about 4 hours into my shift if i could take my 10 minute break and she said no i only get a 30 minute break...i too am pregnant..almost 5 months now and dont think its right to have to stand for 4 hours straight and not get to sit down for a lousy 10 minutes...also the attitudes of many of the people i work with are rotten and they do not treat people with respect there..i am constantly being harassed..sexually..and the managers are always in there back office talking on their cell phones or talking amongst themselves..but when i sit down for 2 seconds i am told to go find something to do...its just frustrating and on top of all that we dont even get one measly free meal after working a long shift with only 1 break...

Did you expect the employees to get out their fly catching nets or something? Every Wendy's comes equipped with a door, you can enter and exit the building through the door. Lots of customers seem to forget that.

If a place looks unhealthy to eat in, don't eat there. That ought to be common sense.

I went to Wendy"s drive-thru window today. We didn't get a fork. Also no sour cream and butter for the potatoe. (This is the second day in a row) Today I watched for this at the window. I told the lady we needed these items.
"Yesterday they crammed so many crackers and hot sauce in the bag I was sure the spoons and forks were there."
We had ordered chili and potatoes. When I got back to work, I pulled all the food out of the bag. I noticed there was no sour cream and butter for my potatoe. I drove all the way back to Wendy's to get my sour cream and butter. After I got back to work, my food was all cold. Also there were no forks, spoons and napkins. Tell me, what kind of place is this?
How could they know we had to have crackers for our chili, and no spoons? No sour cream for our potatoe?
I hope you will do your best to straighten this out.
We were very upset because our food was cold, but to top that off no spoons or forks? No napkins?
Thank You!

Wow real class. Calling someone names because of errors in their post. Really classy [censor]. This is not the place for this, stay on Facebook if that's the way you want to treat people. Wow.

I went to Wendys in Maysville Kentucky on my lunch break. I ordered my food and asked politely if I could please have some ketchup, the employee rolled her eyes and said some people dont know the f*ck ketchup is in the bag. I FEEL LIKE THIS BEHAVIOR WAS UNCALLED FOR AND I dont think Ill eat there ever again!

What the hell can you expect from people who work in fast food joints? I mean they suck at life so that's why they work there. And they hate their jobs so they don't do them right. Fast food is bad for you anyway. :)

All fast food resturants suffer from those issues, answer is simple since they have no intention of doing anything go somewhere else. I think the biggest problem you address was the "little english" and that is a nightmare and it needs to be addressed by the government. Though we are culturally mixed here in America the language is english or as i call it american, you should not be able to hire people who cannot communicate with the customers. I am all for helping out immigrants who go through the proper channels, but those are the same foreigners who will learn the language. The others could care less, and if that's the case go back to your beloved country.

Service and quality is not a "wendys" thing it is a "fast food industry" thing. Standards for time used servicing a customer is absolutely impossible.

I was a manager for dunkin donuts many years and the atrocities i see and experience make me want to go back into the industry and take a pay cut... maybe i just will.
