EconomyBookings.com Very disappointed – booking not confirmed, no support, no refund

I booked a car through EconomyBookings and needed it for the same day. Unfortunately, I never received a confirmation, even though the payment was processed. I contacted customer support multiple times – they were not helpful at all and couldn’t give me a solution or alternative.

As a result, I was left without a car when I really needed one, and the charged amount still hasn’t been refunded.

This experience was very frustrating and stressful. I do not recommend using this service, especially if you need a car urgently.

EconomyBookings.com Refuses refund despite confirmed agreement – months of delay and no resolution (Booking No. B54980568)

In December 2024, I booked a rental car with ACE via EconomyBookings (Booking No. B54980568). Upon arrival, ACE refused to give me the car due to their internal policy limiting rentals to 28 days. My booking exceeded this, so I was denied the vehicle—despite having paid the full amount in advance.

Since then, I have called EconomyBookings multiple times and written several emails. Each time, I receive standard responses like saying the case is under investigation, or chargeback investigation with the bank. Direct questions are ignored. However, nothing has happened for months.

When I called again recently, I spoke with Franzisca, who told me she’s just an operator and that it’s “company policy” that refunds can only be processed through the bank—even though that makes no sense, since they could just refund the money to the same card. She couldn’t explain why this is their only option, nor could she transfer me to someone in the chargeback department or provide a written statement explaining the situation. I was essentially told that I have no way to speak to someone who can actually resolve the case, and no one is accountable.

When I kept asking what I was supposed to do to get my money back if the bank route was not possible, Franzisca hung up the phone on me. That’s how they handle customers who simply want answers and their rightful refund.

On top of that, the credit card used belongs to a friend I can’t contact right now, so the bank route is not an option. That leaves me completely stuck—with no refund and no proper communication from EconomyBookings.

I want my full refund. ACE confirmed that I should receive it. EconomyBookings keeps hiding behind vague policies and passing responsibility, even though they were the platform that took my money. This is unacceptable customer service and I will escalate this legally if needed.

Dear Alex,
Thank you again for your reply and for confirming that a refund of $2,197.83 was issued on 05/15/2025.

However, I noticed a significant discrepancy that I hope you can clarify. In your earlier message dated 05/29/2025, you stated that:

“The refund from our side was denied as well.”

This directly contradicts your most recent message confirming the refund was successfully issued on 05/15/2025.

To resolve this situation clearly and professionally, I kindly request the following:
-A receipt of the refund transaction dated 05/15/2025,
-The last four digits of the card refunded,
-The payment processor’s transaction ID (or any traceable reference).

Given the conflicting information and the fact that I cannot reach the cardholder at this time, I must ask for this documentation to be sent to my email address. This is the only way I can confirm whether the refund has actually occurred.

If you are unable to provide this directly, I would appreciate you escalating this to someone who can.

Thank you for your cooperation. I am simply trying to verify that the refund I was promised has truly been completed.

Thank you for your reply and for confirming that the refund was processed to the original payment method. I appreciate the update!

However, since I haven’t had any contact with the cardholder and cannot confirm whether the refund was actually received or processed on their end, I kindly ask that you send documentation confirming the successful processing of the refund to my email address.

Specifically, it would be helpful to receive:
- The exact date of the refund,
- The exact amount,
- And a receipt showing that the funds were transferred back to the original payment method.

Dear Alex,

Thank you for your response. However, your message does not reflect the full and updated reality of this situation.

As you stated, you initially denied the refund due to the car rental company (ACE) rejecting the chargeback. That may have been true early on—but it is no longer the case. As of early March 2025, ACE officially confirmed that they approved the refund and agreed to pay the money back to EconomyBookings. Therefore, your basis for denying the refund is no longer valid.

Despite this, I have still not received my refund. You continue to insist on routing the refund through the original card, which belongs to a friend I no longer have contact with. This makes the bank route impossible. I have explained this multiple times, but instead of offering a reasonable alternative, such as issuing the refund to another bank account in my name, I’m repeatedly met with vague deflections and unhelpful answers.

If the funds have been returned to you by ACE, then it is EconomyBookings’ responsibility to refund them to me—the customer who paid. I should not be penalized for a policy that ignores common real-world circumstances, like no longer having access to a third party’s card.

I am again requesting that my $2,205 refund be issued to me directly—via a method that does not involve the original cardholder. I am happy to provide the necessary banking details or sign any documentation you require to authorize this transfer.

If you are unwilling to resolve this appropriately, I will pursue this through legal channels and consumer protection authorities.

I await your prompt and practical solution.

EconomyBookings.com Practices – lack of response to customers and refund issues

I am writing to express my frustration and disappointment with the lack of response from your company regarding my booking and refund issues. Your business practices are beginning to appear questionable, if not outright deceptive.

I recently canceled my reservation (Booking Number: B86158615) for a car rental scheduled from January 29, 2025, at 10:00 PM to February 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Baltimore Airport (BWI). Despite canceling, I have not received the promised refund of $134.84 to my original payment method.

Additionally, I currently have $84.50 in my E-Wallet on your website, and I have been unable to find any clear way to transfer this amount back to my original payment method.

What’s most concerning is that I have received no communication from your team to address these issues. To make matters worse, your customer service phone number appears to be fully automated, making it impossible to speak to a live representative or escalate this matter.

I expect an immediate resolution, including:

- The refund of $134.84 to my original payment method.
- Clear instructions or assistance to transfer the remaining $84.50 from my E-Wallet back to my original payment method.
If these issues are not resolved promptly, I will be left with no choice but to report this matter to the appropriate consumer protection agencies and leave reviews detailing my experience to warn other potential customers.

I hope to hear back from you within 48 hours to address these concerns.

EconomyBookings.com Insurance claim money not transferred

I booked a car in Basel (Alamo) through economybookings in June 2023. Alamo sent me an insurance claim in Sep 2023. I filed a full coverage claim with economybookings.com in Sep 2023. In December, economybookings accepted my claim to the extent of EUR 1700 and asked for my bank details, which I sent to them on Dec 12, 2023. However, after I followed up several times, on Jan 17, 2024 economybooking informed me that the transfer on Dec 12 failed and they need me to send details again. According to my analysis of the failure message they sent me, they had picked up wrong details for the transfer. I resent the 'correct' details (after removing the unwanted details) again on Jan 17, 2024. Since then I have sent 4-5 emails and called their swiss sales office several times reminding them to transfer the approved claim amount. But to no avail. None of my emails have been responded. There is no news of the transfer.

Mr Aleksandr from bookinggroup.com sent me an apology mail on Friday after I put my complaint above. He wrote that he has forwarded my mail to his finance department. I sent him a follow up mail on Tuesday as I did not hear from his finance department asking him by when the claim will be settled. Again there is complete silence. NO ONE HAS BOTHERED TO RESPOND. Is any one hearing?

Nitin, you're being ignored. It's time to escalate this. Get on social media, tag them, and expose their incompetence. If that doesn't work, go straight to legal action. Don’t let them string you along any longer. Demand what’s yours and make enough noise until they have no choice but to pay up.

EconomyBookings.com Car rental beware!!!

CAUTION! Still going around in circles with Thrifty/Hertz over a rental from 10/3/2022, booked through EconomyBookings.com (warning NEVER use them). Special rate of $25 per day for 12 days actually charged $928,77. Have requested a breakdown of (over) charges. EconB says they don't show breakdown, only Thrifty can. Hertz keeps asking for booking numbers and claims they cannot find the rental - even charged me $25 to search. But Hertz had no trouble charging my rental $700 for accident that was not covered by my auto insurance. My credit card would pay deductible if Hertz would only supply a breakdown of charges.

I keep getting passed around and asked for same info given multiple times, with no real intelligent response. If these businesses cannot provide a breakdown of charges, then can they charge ANY AMOUNT they wish with no validation of the charges? Also sending complaints to several Consumer Protection Agencies. BEWARE!

I actually went to your platform and got nada. Only "help" was to send an email. Alex I'm glad you responded to my concerns after 15 months!

You can read about my issues and actually see what occurred, even my phone number if you really wish to work on this. After months and months of going around on this, nothing. Now if you're contacting me to just set a placard and hope I don't respond, you can call me or send me a number I can call you directly.

All this stems from my request to get a breakdown of my car rental charges, which you do not show on your website "No Bookings", I would be glad to discuss my ratings here and on Yahoo, Yelp and Trustpilot. After my accident, when an elk ran into the side of my rental, my auto company would pay the repairs, as long as I gave them a breakdown of the charges to show no insurance was purchased for the rental. However, you have not been able to answer this simple request. Sad, but my opinion has not changed.

That us total BS, The only thing your customer service would give me is a runaround and the TOTAL INVOICE amount, NOT the BREAKDOWN I have been asking for since November 2022! And when the Florida Consumer Protection Agency calls to investigate they get the same. NO communications, just runaround, dropped calls and unanswered emails. And nothing yet from the Attorney General's office or New York Consumer Protection Agency, who also were investigating.

I can supply dozens of emails showing what information they would supply, just the total invoice. No breakdown of charges to show what comprised the amount of $928,77. Check your files. Have your "customer service" contact me via email if they can actually provide the breakdown I have requested for some 16 months,

EconomyBookings.com Car rental

Our flight was cancelled on Aug 10 due to a mechanical issue. I attempted to change our rental period from Aug 11th to the12th for booking number:

B94451058. This is allowed according to EconomyBookings.com's Amendment Policy. Multiple calls to the number that EconomyBookings.com provided in the rental voucher to make the change were not answered. When we arrived at the rental desk there was no car available. We ended up with a smaller car from another company. Our family had to travel separately by train to accommodate our luggage that wouldn't fit.

I emailed Post Rental Support, at [protected]@bookinggroup.com, to ask for a refund. Their response was "You didn't inform us about your cancellation prior to your pick-up time."

First, there was no intent to cancel, only adjust the rental dates.

Second, it is EconomyBookings.com's responsibility to provide accurate contact information in order to inform them of the rental period amendment.

I am asking for a refund of the $397.07 prepayment.

This company is being willfully obtuse and deflecting responsibility by siting the flight delay. It does not matter WHY I wanted to adjust my rental period. It states in their Amendment Policy that customers are allowed to make changes in rental dates. The bogus contact number they provided prevented me from doing so.

I am preceding with filing complaints with both state and federal consumer agencies to have this company investigated.

EconomyBookings.com Car rental b71157960 (economy bookings number)

I feel like I took a scam from the company Economy Bookings.

I rented a car through the partner site https://www.economybookings.com/. First of all, the agency is not located at the airport, as described in the advertisement. As reported being open 24 hours a day, I took a taxi with suitcases, my wife and 09 year-old son, at 04:30, and when I arrived at the place, shady, everything was closed. Feeling unsafe, I paid for the taxi back to the airport and waited until 07:00 the scheduled time to pick up the car. I took a taxi again, but the branch was closed. I waited on the street until 08:30 but no one showed up to open the office and deliver the car. I called economy bookings support, but no one was able to solve it. They gave me an email so that I could report what had happened and be reimbursed, but despite having sent it on December 20 and having called economybookings once again, I still haven't received any response. I took an Uber, went to my hotel in Miami Beach, and rented a new car from another site. I recorded a video and took photos at the okmobility door to prove that it was closed, even 1 hour and thirty minutes after the agreed time to deliver the car to me. I attach the video and the photo in the email I sent

EconomyBookings.com Refund for cancellation

When I book they mentioned its free cancellation till the day I rent my car. I cancel the booking and when I cancelled due to my plan change they gave credit to wallet and charged me 60eur to send it to original payment method. This is fooling customer with false commitments. Pls help to get my money back which they charged for nothing

EconomyBookings.com Over charged was 665 dollars ballooned to 1600 dollars with extras not wanted

had a valid agreement with you for the hire of a car with seven auto of mc coy road florida for 665 dollars. when finally picked up was taken off site to a sleazy offfice , then asked to pay over the agreed price for extras i did not want so told them it was not going to happen.at no point did my credit card get taken and the previous excuses they gave of not enough funds and refusal to pay a deposit are unfounded. they have cctv of the event for sure. as i have seen from the numerous complaints on line they are not a reputable company and as a valued customer i expect you to believe my account not theirs and request a refund of the 181.12 pounds you took for a transaction that did not happen. there was no problem next day when i hired a car from enterprise for 732 dollars a reputable hire company. this happened on 21 july 2023 booking ref b9214240

from 14nov 2023 you have given me three different reasons for refusing my refund regarding booking reference b92141240. this was your contract to provide a car via a third party seven auto, for 665 dollars. seven auto took me off site and increased the price to 1600 dolllars. nothing to do with deposits . you obviously dont read your responses. i would not use you or recomend you to anyone . your complaints response is a joke

EconomyBookings.com Rental car at EconomyBookings.com

Issue: Traveled from the US to Kazakhstan, ordered car rental through EconomyBookings.com. But I didn't get the rental car at airport (Kazakhstan), as promised by EconomyBookings.com.

Facts:

1. Paid deposit in accordance with contract.

2. Upon arrival to airport, no representative at car rental kiosk was present and local phone number (given by EconomyBookings.com) was not taking calls.

3. I called EconomyBookings.com office at [protected] and let them know about the issue. No help was provided.

4. Upon my return to US, I contacted EconomyBookings.com support email on October 2nd, 2023. Received reply on October 6, 2023, that my case had been investigated and would be resolved within from 5 to 28 working days.

5. Received an update on October 20th, 2023 that my case was still in progress.

6. Today is December 1st, 2023. No resolution in sight.

I strongly advise against renting cars through economybookings.com.

I rent a nice car at enterprise nme in podgorica through economybookings.com with a full coverage insurance.

I scratched my car door a little in the hotel parking lot.

I submit the claim to refund a month ago, but still no response or money.

It’s better to pay a little more but keep your nerves healthy and be sure that you will get your insurance money back.

Claimed loss: 599,40 euros for door repair.

Desired outcome: Get the refund for submitted claim for full coverage.

I have had two excuses from them first was not enough on my card second was refusal to pay a deposit both are untrue proof of this will be my rental of a car from enterprise leasing company a proper car rental other than seven auto who tried to fleece me. This took place on 21 07 2023. Being hounded at a time when you are tired is a form of extortion and not acceptable.

EconomyBookings.com The quality of rented car, services provided and failure to resolve my complaint

The case is registered with EconomyBookings under case number B91919388. They have full description including pictures. They can't solve the case even after more than 2 months. I keep getting emails telling me to be patient. It is clear that EconomyBookings is not proactive enough in dealing with this case and unfortunately exposes its clients to a similar dangerous situation as I experienced on my holiday.

I travelled a lot in the past and always without any issue with car rental. Cars were always clean, inspected and fully in line with technical and safety requirements. But In this case I feel cheated and in addition I was exposed to danger due to the car condition while driving.

Since this car situation has put me through a very frustrating and dangerous time spent traveling in the car, costs during the trip and the arrogant attitude of the City Rent a Car employees I request a refund of the entire amount for renting a car to my account.

This is the responsibility of EconomyBookings, they are my partner in this case not only their subcontractor City Rent a Car.

The case B91919388 description:

1. Meet and Greet Service - nobody from City Rent a Car was at the airport waiting for us - we had to find the station of that rental car. There was only one person and he shortly stated that they are not providing such a service.

2. The car - Volkswagen Polo - we were told that they don't have such a car.

3. The only car available at this moment was a white Škoda Rapid. However, at first glance this car was very dirty not prepared and in a desolate condition. I refused to accept this car. The man was not willing to solve this situation and we were told that we can go to another car rental. He clearly said that we are not in any contract with him or City Rent a Car but with Economy Bookings and therefore I should contact Economy Bookings (at 2:30 AM? – hardly). Under all circumstances I decided to take a risk and asked the operator to prepare the car, preferably some in better condition.

The attendant insisted on taking over the white Rapid until the moment he convinced himself that the headlights were not working and therefore I was offered another car that had just been returned and not inspected after return. However, this car was badly damaged, but due to the time of night, the downpayment involved, our time schedule and the current situation, I was forced to accept this car. After paying a €200 deposit, I received the keys to the car. immediately after starting and passing under the lights, I discovered serious defects on the car - error messages on the panel, previous damage to the body, speedometer status 340538km. Please see pictures enclosed at the end of this document.

- During all traveling time were orange warning lights on control panel on – especially Airbag warning light – what means that something with this very important safety feature is wrong (UNACCEPTABLE).

- The left rearview mirror vibrated excessively at higher speeds above 60 km/h and I was concerned it would fall off.

- The right front wheel was losing pressure, I had to fill it up for the first three days. Then I looked for a tire repair shop where they fixed my wheel. It wasn't a defect, but a rusty wheel disc. I had to pay €30, unfortunately they didn’t give me any bill.

- The tank cover could not be opened, the operator at the gas station had to call a mechanic who arrived with a special tool and opened the cover. I paid €20 for arrival and opening.

4. When returning the car to the rental company, I complained about everything to the operator and asked for at least reimbursement of my expenses (€50). I was refused - he showed me that the tank lid can be opened with a credit card ( 😊) and that I should have solved the problem with the tire by using the spare wheel (of course I considered this solution, but continuing the next trip with an unusable spare wheel would be a huge risk. I would have to go to the service anyway to have the wheel fixed)

EconomyBookings.com Full coverage insurance

I booked car hire online for my trip to the UK and I took out the optional full coverage insurance package with economy bookings, my hire car had a small scratch I paid the car hire company the excess amount (just under 400GBP) made the claim to economy bookings and have not heard from them since, no reply to emails no phone number to call totally ignored I have spoken to reservations and they will not help, I have contacted them on facebook messenger, wedsite nothing! THEY ARE A SCAM! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! YES I have contacted [protected]@bookinggroup.com I have been emailing them daily - how is it possible for this to happen? this company advertise everywhere online

Claimed loss: 400 GBP

Desired outcome: pay the excess i am claiming for and the insurance I HAVE PAID THE PREMIUM FOR!!!!!

EconomyBookings.com Over charging on pick up day by extra charges so my quote was for 685 dollars they wanted 1800 dollars

arrived at orlando airport phoned seven auto to pick car up. taken to an isolated spot miles away was asked to pay an extortionate amount above economy booking price so flat refused to pay and was left suitcases tired ,no taxis totally stranded booking ref b92141240 pick up 21 07 2023 from seven auto the price quoted 685 dollars to include insurance taxes surcharges and navigation system. on arrival to pick up they wanted 1800 dolars

Claimed loss: economy booking took 181.12 pounds from my card

Desired outcome: i would like my money refunded any some form of compensation would be an added bonus

EconomyBookings.com Full Coverage

I don't recommend renting a car through this agency to anyone. I have paid for a full coverage with Economy bookings and sent their Full Coverage department all the details in time to get reimbursed for the damages done to the vehicle I rented, which I paid to the rental company when I returned the vehicle.

It has been almost two months and they still haven't responded. Only person I can reach is at their reservation department who doesn't have access to any management staff or other departments. This is pretty outrageous and ridiculous..

I intend to keep sharing this terrible experience at any place possible, if you want my advice stay away from this agency.

EconomyBookings.com Car Rental

I do not recommend renting a car through this company to anyone. You have no way of reaching their customer representatives, and they do not respond to your emails or calls in any way. Despite purchasing additional insurance and reporting the damage I experienced, they have not refunded me for weeks. I will certainly file complaints with every place I can, but if you don't want to deal with these issues, stay away from this company.

good day my booking number is b73607928 and when i booked this rental i was told that i would be able to use my own insurance for the rental so i called the rental company today to check the statis of my rental and they told me that as i live in canada that they do not except the canadian insurance so i had to go somewere else to get my rental then i was told that half of my rental was going to be charged as a canceltation fee this is not my fault and i should not be charges a cancelation fee please advise and please let me no when i will be refunded the rental fee thankyou

EconomyBookings.com Thieves with terrible customer service

My experience and interaction with Economy Bookings below.

Hi there,

I previously booked a rental car from Thrifty rental through Economy Bookings at Chicago O'Hare Airport on the 22nd of September (Booking B74488217).

This rental was successful and at no point did they tell me that they would not accept my debit card but instead said they would take a $500 holding deposit from my debit card in order to complete the rental.

I then had another booking through Economy Bookings but this time at Fort Lauderdale Airport and when I presented my debit card they flat out refused to take my debit card and provide me with the rental car by taking a $500 holding deposit like they did from their branch in Chicago. 

I then read through ALL of the fine print of the Economy Bookings voucher for my rental from Thrifty in Fort Lauderdale and in very fine print near the bottom I saw that it said they would only accept credit cards.

With that said I understand that the T's and C's stated that it had to be a credit card but because I had no issues with the exact same rental company just 9 days ago in another state I did not expect to have this issue today when I went to collect my new rental car from Thrifty. 

For this reason I would like to please request a full refund for the amount of €994.92 for the car rental (Booking B94063902) that I was refused by Thrifty due to them deciding that they would accept a debit card in Chicago but not accept a debit card in Fort Lauderdale. 

Your understanding in this matter would be highly appreciated.

If you were blacklisted by the car rental company.

Unfortunately, because we didn't know that you weren’t going to pick the car up, we cannot give you a refund.

Note the following:

- How can I inform you about a cancelation of my rental car when I had no intention of canceling my booking? The rental car company refused to give me the rental car that I paid your company €994.92 for.

- I was there at the exact pickup time and date. You can call the rental car company and they will tell you exactly when I tried to collect the car. 

- I provided the rental car company with ALL of the necessary documentation. Just like I did 10 days prior when I collected a different car from their branch in Chicago and they had NO issues giving me the rental car then.

Further to this, I provided them with my debit card which had my name on it and +/-€10 000 available in my cheque account which is linked to my debit card which would have covered way more than they needed, AGAIN, I used this debit card at a Thrifty branch in Chicago and they happily gave me the rental vehicle that I booked through your company just 10 days prior.

Now, Thrifty made it clear that they would not be receiving any of the money that I paid because they did not allow me to pick the car up, which means that Economy Bookings has essentially TAKEN €994.92 from me and given me absolutely nothing in return for it and you are telling me that you won't even consider giving me a refund because "we didn't know that you weren’t going to pick the car up". 

If your company is serious about keeping its clients happy and having them return and not sharing their negative experiences on social platforms and websites which is exactly what I am going to do if I do not receive at least a refund minus a minimal penalty admin fee for your company's time and effort to process the refund, then I would appreciate you taking the necessary steps and reversing your decision so as to keep me as a loyal customer and to not have your poor service and decisions displayed for other potential customers to see.

EconomyBookings.com Cheated my money

I received email from Economybookings.com stating:

Your booking B52508777 for a total sum of 1070.79 SGD (726.33 EUR) at Chitose Airport, Japan has been cancelled.

I didn't received refund and yet I was charge at Euro 157.12, I had tried to contact economybookings with all mean and yet no reply. this company is not genuine and not trustworthy. I hope with my sharing can stop more people from falling into economybookings.com trap.

EconomyBookings.com Charged twice

Booking number B22203913

Hi,

I rented a car from 30th of July til 3rd of august ( booking reference above ) with Nextcar via economybookings

I’ve paid 199.05 US$ ( 155.98 GBP ) including full cover to economybookings

On the 30th of July , Next car asked me to pay a deposit when collecting the car in US$ equal to 117.54 GBP refundable on return .

On 3rd of august I can see another withdrawal Nextcar BWI HANOVER MD from my account of 118.85GBP

And finally a refund of 118.23GBP.

I don’t understand why all those transactions and also I’m still waiting for a refund of the 117.54 GBP.
