Poor Customer Service, Negative experience with Maddie your employee coconut creek fl.
I have been a member at your Coconut Creek Florida for a very long time since day one PF opened. The incident today caused me to cancel membership due to Maddie playing manager while John the original manager was not available. I never had a problem since have started until today. I walked in and gave the young lady my name and phone number and offered my photo ID as I do not like bringing in my $1400 cell phone for fear of losing it, as I did already at this GYM. Maddie had it in her head that my IDF was not enough and she is doing me a favor of allowing me but next time I must have the APP loaded into my phone or I would not be allowed in. I told them that is ridiculous as my ID issued by the Stae of Florida is enough for the Local and Federal Government as she is overreaching her authority to request that I use their APP or not be allowed in. In frustration, I explained this is not the right attitude to take as she does not know what she is talking about and because one asks that this is a policy and not a statute or law she is incorrect for requesting anything more than my ID. She stood her ground stating that I can leave if I don't think she is correct. In turn, I stated how about canceling my membership and did just that. John the actual Manager I know him and he is very pro-customer. Very nice guy and a people person, I asked to speak to him and naturally, she lied and stated he is unavailable and she is the manager. Well, that was disappointing as she did not know the answers to any of the answers I asked her. Here are two of several I asked: if someone does not or left their phone but has their wallet do you turn them away or accept their ID? If a person wishes not to bring their phone with them as it presents a distraction and safety hazard to them as they are handling heavy equipment, do still insists they can not enter due to corporate policy? as you can see how absurd the whole situation was, and she of course was not thinking as she was talking. I understand there is a shortage of labor but Maddie does not it the bill as management and should be retrained or fired. I spoke to the friends and 3 had similar experiences. With that said there are bigger issues for that branch to deal with and corporate need to retrain underling management in training to listen before talking as she was clueless of any answers and was speaking without thinking.
Desired outcome: Retrain or fire her. Tell her to listen before she speaks. She needs serious training and is not ready yet. put her back to cleaning the equipment and floors until she earns it.
cancellation
I wanted to cancel my membership, since I am not using the facility like I was in January/February. In fact, I have only been there 23 times since I joined in January 2022. I went in on June 14 because my next billing was scheduled for 17. I was told I would need to pay for an additional month with my last day at gym July 16. I was told I needed to cancel by the 10th of the month and that it was in my agreement and in the cancellation policy. I wrote a review about this on June 14 and received a response stating the same thing. I reviewed the cancellation information on my agreement and in the legal tab in the PF app and under cancellation there is nothing that states the 10th of the month. I responded to the management's response, and I have not received any thing back to my response. Your advertisement that you can cancel anytime is false!
Desired outcome: I would like to have my membership cancelled immediately and have all information updated all your information to reflect the 10th of month policy, I read that I needed to come into PF and can in person, which I did! Not happy!
Being kicked out of planet fitness Fairfield CT

I was a member of Fairfield, CT since 2009 until April 23, 2022. I paid $137 to renew my membership until March 2023. The manager told me I must pay this to keep my membership. I am blind with heavy contacts on both my corneas so I can see. People call me a hunchback because I have scoliosis. I need exercise to keep my bones functioning. I am 74. The manager Karen cancelled my gym membership on April 23, 2022, and told me I can never return to Planet Fitness. She said that since she became the manager, she had been keeping a file on me. Finally she had had enough. She never told me about the complaints until she threw me out. I want about $100 of my membership back, please. She advertises 10 months at $10 a month. She said Planet Fitness never returns any money. Why was I terminated? I didn't bother anybody except, I guess, Karen.
Desired outcome: I would like to return to Planet Fitness Fairfield CT. I can walk there from where I live. At least I want my money back. I am not a rich man. My family has a lot of bills to pay.

The Barnegat NJ PF requires credit card and checking account information plus your personal information, all of which they save and use, just to join the gym. If you are not a financial institution, you should never require this. It is a huge Christmas present for fraudsters. I would know. I headed digital fraud prevention or one of the largest banks in the world.
PF first said they are doing this for customers to make it easier in case their credit card fails. This is not about customers. This is only for PFs to debit your checking account directly in the event you stop payment with your credit card. Last year they finally agreed to let me pay 12 months in full for black card service, credit card only.
That year has expired and they refused to allow me to do it again. I could apparently do it for the lower service, but not the black card. I need to visit different locations which required the black card service. I asked to speak with someone in charge above the local manager and I was given an email only— and i got no response to an email request to discuss this. I tried their online chat, and they said the local manager decides. This is insane. I am a heart patient that uses PF for cardiac strength training. That stopped dead last week. Shame on PF.

I had a contract saying my annual dues would be billed 8/1/22. I joined in April along with my daughter. The dues came out 6/1/22. I took a screenshot of my contract from my app. I called and spoke with Sandy at the gym in Salem, VA who was rude and basically called me "stupid". I looked a few hours later while on my way to the gym to speak with the manager and the contract has been altered. The contract now says I joined in April 20 and the dues would come out on 6-1-202 which isn't even a legal date. It shows someone altered this in a hurry. This is not a legal, binding contract. It would not hold up in court which is where I plan to take it. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and fraud charges with my bank. The manager and regional manager basically are telling me I am lying and using someone elses contract showing the 8/1/22 date. I do not know anyone else who uses this sorry gym so have no way of getting a contract. This was on my app and I took a screen shot of just the date as I was at work at the time. I didn't think I would have a problem since I had the proof and didn't think they would (being a business) and it being illlegal to alter a contract (a non-binding) contract at that. I went in and cancelled my membership due to the rudeness of the staff and the fraudulent charges. One of the staff members laughed in my face at which time I commented to him laughing wasn't a good look for him. I willl not let this go, I am an honest person and know what my contract said. I am asking for mine and my daughter's $39 to be reimbursed at once. According to my cancellation form, it says we have until 6/16 to use the gym, however, they immediately made my account inactive but we are paid up until that date. According to me, you owe me for the month of June as well. I would appreciate someone addressing this matter at once. I am at work and cannot upload documents on this secured computer. I have left my contract on the facebook review page for you to review.
Desired outcome: Reimbursement in full for all funds taken out of my account for mine and my daughters account. Both accounts were paid for with my account
Free Teen Memberships for Summer
I don’t like to complain and I am really glad you have given teens somewhere to go that is safe and healthy, however! The influx of teens dominating the equip, sitting on their phones, visiting with friends, etc. is going to run your paying members away. I am not the only one at the gym that is getting frustrated just trying to workout. My suggestion would be to have a specific time for the free members so the rest of us paying customers can get our workouts in outside of those hours. Thank you for reading this. I really hope we can get a solution or you will lose members.
I would like to add my objection to the new policy allowing teens free access to the gym. The equipment is now being utilized more frequently and this is totally unfair to paying customers. Specific times for the teens must be added or give paying member a discount for the months that are free for teens. This policy is not fair and totally unacceptable to people who are serious about working out. I hope Planet Fitness corporate will respond to this with an action plan to correct.
Free teens during the summer
While I see the nice gesture behind giving teens free access during the summer to the gyms. This is not ok with all the paying members that cant even get on any equipment because these kids have #1 no manners, #2 they do not respect the rule of don't hog the equipment #3 im paying and the pace is so crowded because of all the free kids. This does not put a good taste in my mouth as a new customer. VERY annoying.
Desired outcome: I attend the Fort Pierce FL location, the staff needs to make sure these kids arent hogging the equipment, but they dont
Cancelation of membership
On the 26th of April I cancelled my membership. The agent that helped me stated that he will debit the remaining balance on the 15th of May, he never put in the debit order to debit the amount. I saw that and phoned Customer care and payed the money into their account immediately just to get a phone call from an Attorney stating that my file has been handed over I need to pay them the legal fees after I already payed my outstanding amount
High school summer memberships
As a paying member it is very dishearting to have to workout around the high school kids who are not paying and are crowding the gym for the paying members. The gym is very busy and most of the time they are not even working out, they stand around and hog the equipment and have no gym ethics and I usually have to leave because it's too busy to get my workout in that I have planned. My daughter comes with me from work and there are so many high school kids that we are both planning on canceling our membership. I would be upset if i was a high school kid who is paying and now your allowing all these additional members at no charge to crowd the gym. Today my daughter had an incident while going to get a neck wrap from another piece of equipment when she returned to the a squat rack 2 high school girls were there putting weights on she said she was using the equipment and thy said "well you weren't here". she said my phone and water are here I've moved the bench out and went to get a neck wrap. They were mad and rude then went to front desk to tattle on her she's a grown women. Your staff came back a reprimanded her, These free memberships are a bad idea, in my opinion. this incident happened 5/21/2022

I agree this summer pass is the worst idea I'm looking into other gyms now i have a pf member sense 2017 its turn into a play ground and I have a son nothinig against kids my time is money not free
Your company policy of free summer memberships for 14-19-year-olds has been a great inconvenience.
I understand the concept of indoctrinating young adults with hopes of future brand loyalty. Major banks do this with free checking and savings accounts during high school and college years, again with hopes of the student remaining with the bank as they become adults.
The bank's practices do not interfere in the least my banking transactions.
However, when Planet Fitness decides to offer free, and let's understand if you don't already, "Free" has no value to the young adult. Time is also on their side during a summer break.
If I may speak for other adults, money is not the issue here, but we are short on time. Most adults have jobs, families, and responsibilities that need to be tended to. Because of the summer pass program and the influx of young adults during peak hours, my workouts are unnecessarily elongated and interrupted, being forced to wait for a machine while two young adults sit on identical machines chatting and posting to social media.
Maybe a compromise is in order here, perhaps the summer pass can be offered from 9 AM-3 PM, during off-peak hours.
My $25.00 monthly fee will not be missed, but if I see the sign go up in 2023 for Summer Pass, I will look for another gym. I will also post this review on every form of social media, google reviews, yelp, and anywhere I think it will have an impact. Feel free to reply to glenn@1800ceiling.com. I'd like to meet the suits that came up with this bright idea. They would not be working at my company. You are alienating your core customers for future brand awareness. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
I completely agree with shay1515 about Planet Fitness’s summer promotion. Who in their right mind thought letting kids 14-19 use the gym all summer for free was a good idea? What’s the payoff? These kids won’t be joining once they return to school. My gym today looked like a nursery school. Almost every machine was taken by kids sitting on them texting and laughing. The capacity at they gym was almost at max filled mostly by non-paying kids. I left without doing a full workout as I was on my lunch hour. I’m ready to quit my membership. Whoever dreamt up this promotion should be fired.

I hope the finds you well. My name is Nubia Braithwaite and Ive noticed on my account I am being billed for services that were canceled a very long time ago. I had a membership and canceled and yet I continue to be billed. I reached out to the manager to the location 2040 forest ave staten island. The manager Tati states there isnt any open account through them which is where I was attending and opened the account. I have been billed for well over two years for a planet fitness account that isnt mine. Im not too sure if account numbers where mixed up but ive reached out for help through management and im getting nowhere and now its hundreds of dollars. Cleanliness/gym atmosphere
This gym is very consistent about making sure they pick sides with their customers and making some feel unwelcome. Today, 5/15/2022, I visited their gym and it the locker room/restroom areas was essentially flooded. On top of that their water fountain seemed to have been under construction and was completely broken down and in no way usable. On top of all this, they seemed very supportive of left-wing propaganda. They had the one channel in their locker room playing and when I asked for a different channel or turn off TV, they refused to change it. When I requested a specific channel, they said they would change it. About one and half hours later, the channel playing in the locker room was still the same left-wing propaganda channel.
Desired outcome: Stop giving preference to certain ideologies over the other. Take care of your gym and please allow people to have a pleasant experience.
