Unauthorized charges from planet fitness and fraudlent membership !!
I have made several attempts to resolve an ongoing issue regarding a membership that was created online and not to my knowlege. The membership is for a location 75 miles away from my home and states it is for a black card member. I was already a black card member of a planet fitness 5 miles away from my home. As a black card member your membership allows you to go to any location so there would not be any desire to open up another membership at a location 75 miles away from my home with the exact same benifits. After several phone calls and complaints the location that was completely out of my jurisdiction stated that i can only resolve the matter in person. I found that to be completely dangerous and obsourd to travel to a location i never been before to make a complaint. My home location went above and beyond and tried to reach out to the other location and let them know that it was not even correct to have a double membership. I forfieted my home gym completely and have not been back to a planet fitness ever again. I was completely disappointed with the outcome. This all occured during covid and i am not sure if my information was used for them to try and keep the club open but i really am disappointed with the results of this matter. I need this gym that i have never stepped foot into to quit charging me along with the fact that i refuse to meet in person to resolve a membership i never created online. The request of the management team was extremely rude and they refused to handle this matter properly. When i first learned of the issue i reached out to this location in tears of possible identiy theft. I have information that has come up in several data breaches and i strongly believe that they are apart of the fraud . I have a blank contract below along with a signed agreement from the location that i actually went to. I have reoccuring charges that date back from [protected] i disputed this information with cash app because that is where the fees are coming out from in the amount of 24.96 per month. Which in fact is not the amount that is listed on either agreement.
Desired outcome: Please refund," I'd appreciate a response," " I would like an apology." I do not have any desire to go to a location I never been to before and I am looking forward to resolution immediately.
Lack of cash payment method
I contacted the Lebanon Indiana Planet Fitness and met a very rude young woman, but that's beside the point. I'm making this complaint today because your locations won't accept cash as a payment method. I don't have a checking account and wouldn't give it out even if I did, too much fraud nowadays. Even offered to pay "extra" if I could in cash, she said no. I was even willing to pay yearly and a fee ON TOP OF THAT but "planet fitness doesn't accept cash payment per corporate guidelines" I call bull-crap on that but who knows, I don't work for Planet Fitness, thankfully. You CEO's obviously have a crap business model if you think eliminating a whole method of payment was a good idea. Why do you have to make things so complicated? I just wanted a freaking gym membership and not to give out my personal banking and routing info!? I'm so sick of the corporate bullcrap that's affecting everyday life, I don't need that when I go to the gym. I go to work out and destress, not be bullied into submission by a monopolistic corporation.
Desired outcome: I don't want an apology or even a response, just for you to know that you have lost a potentially long-time customer because of an employee's, or more than likely, corporate idiocracy. Just accept cash... like damn.
Plant Fitness - Johns Creek Brookwood (GA)
The PF is a new location. I signed up online in early February. PF was scheduled to open 1st week of March but had a late opening and did not open until April 15th. I received no email letting me know the location had opened.
I go with my friend on April 25 for first time. We were told by the assistant manager (AM) that we are not allowed in unless we installed the PF app. We were told this is "policy." Neither I nor my friend received any notification/email that this was required. I a past PF membership where I was a guest the member received card to scan/sign-in.
We ask if ok to get the PF app for next visit and be allowed in since this was our first visit/not receive notice requiring PF app but the AM refused and would not even check license or anything.
First, I do not believe this is absolute "policy" because what if a person lost phone/forgot phone. Surely, there is an accommodating procedure.
So I cancel my membership and that of my GF that I was paying. I ask for my $10 payment refund but was told by the Manager that he would not refund the $10 because there was no billing "billing" problem. I reply and explain that he is correct that there was no billing issue but there is most definitely a problem with services in which no services were provided because I was refused entry on first time visit.
As such, I will be see with other option I have to receive my refund and let other know of inadequate PF customer services and/or policy. Right now, I plan to find out who the franchise owner is and advise them of issue or contact corporate PF to see if they can have the franchise owner provide refund for a reasonable request.
Billing
This has to be the worst service I’ve ever received. I canceled my membership in 2020. Recently, I was made aware that Planet Fitness duplicated my membership somehow, reactivated the account, placed me in a higher membership cost bracket, and began billing my account.
I reached out to see what/why/how this happened. I spoke with Parker who confirmed this was an error on their part and he would request a refund and I would receive an email in 2 business days. He also confirmed no activity on the account.
Well, I received the email, but it said they WOULD NOT BE REFUNDING ME and if I had questions, please reach out to management. Letisha Garza stated that they could not refund just because I didn’t use it. I didn’t use it because I wasn’t aware they PLANET FITNESS created an account in error and then up charged me.
That’s not the end of it, I called Planet Fitness Cedar Hill and spoke with Adam who was suppose to be the manager. He said he couldn’t do anything and I would have to come into a physical location to cancel the membership THEY created. He also stated that this appeared to be a duplicate account created in error and to contact management. I reminded him that he said he was management and he paused. Yea, gotcha.
He then has me to call customer service, which I did. Spoke with supervisor Cynthia. I explained again what had transpired, and the names of everyone I spoke with. She then stated that the accont was created online and it was nothing she could do. I questioned her because everyone else said it was a duplicate account. She said they were ALL incorrect and it was nothing that they could do. She also said that only way to cancel an account that they created was to go to a physical location. I then informed that I would have to get my bank involved and file fraud charges with the police department. Which is when we were disconnected. That’s still not the end…
I received an email shortly after with a form stating that the Planet Fitness account had been canceled.
This is the absolute worst! Now I have to close my bank accounts because of this which is a hassle in itself.
Granted, I should have checked my account to have identified these transactions sooner but still, it fraud. Planet Fitness knows its fraud, have verified on multiple occasions that they created the account in error, and they see no usage. I’m out of $24.96 from 3/16/2021 (Per Parker at PF) to 4/16/22 on top of having to pay my back to stop payment to PF.
Next stop is NBC5 as I’m sure I’m not the only one this has happened to.

Cancel at anytime
Tuesday, April 19, 2022, my wife Tina joined Planet Fitness in Marianna, FL. Tuesday afternoon she fell, breaking her tibia and detaching her ligament. Doctors tell her minimum 12 weeks non weight bearing and 9 month to one year PT. Tina called to cancel the membership and according to your employee your procedure requires the person appear in person to cancel or send a letter. Cancel at anytime was how the membership was presented and no one explained cancel in person only. This is a tremendous hardship and it makes Planet Fitness appear less than interested in customers well being. I am asking you to cancel Tina May membership in Marianna, FL Planet Fitness.

Contract cancellation
I would like to raise a complaint about Planet Fitness. I called them several times in 2020 from Mar asking them to cancel my contract. They promised to send me the cancellation amount and not once have I received them. In December 2020 i got a call from their finance manager, we had a discussed and he could tell from the system that i had requested several times to cancel and nothing was done, we agreed on the amount i needed to pay to get the contract cancelled, which did immediately and also sent through email ( i have proof of the email
to my dismay, last year i got contacted by a debt collector on behalf of Planet Fitness, i explained the whole situation and forwarded my proof of payment and cancellation email, they noted that my met my end of the deal and they will take it up with Planet Fitness. i thought this matter was dealt with, however today i got a new email from a different debt collector, saying I owe Planet Fitness, i just couldn't believe it
I have just sent them the same supporting documentation i sent to the earlier one. can i please get assistance to get this matter closed. I have heard ti with them and i find this behavior to be unacceptable. there is nothing on treating customers fairly here

I was trying to workout there. And usually I have no problems there like working out there haven't done it in a year because I was injured. But today was the 2nd day I worked out there and I was doing Cardio on the stationary bike and I was looking straight ahead. And these women were working out on a Machine. And they told the Manager I was looking at them when all I was trying to do was workout. Now the Manager was cool with me and said that they said I was doing that and that I should be aware. But I'm angry that I had my workout Disturbed because couple of women have a problem with someone looking in there direction. I mean I was not interested in either one especially the one that was older then me. I mean if they have a problem with people looking in there direction they should work out at home or Join a Gym with a Woman's the Area
Unauthorized transfer
I cancelled my agreement on November 4, 2021 at my Santa Fe Spring Club, not sure why instead of it being cancelled it was transferred to the Rowland Heights location and have been charged monthly fees of $22.99 since November.
I have contacted both club locations via email and they are not authorizing my refund of $114.95 for the 5 months I was charged.

My daughter bought a membership only every time she tries to get in, the app kicks her out. Alina Lodwick; [protected]; front people said they couldn’t fix. I do show the withdrawal on payment. I have been getting her in on my Black card, but I don’t want to go at the times she does

I never sign a contract my bf got given illegally papers to sign on my name. Now ive being trying from dec 2021 tp cancel and nothing was done. Now I get called by gym to pay up wth also I get told I went with my husband I dont hav one to the gym which is lies Moeketsi mosetu from head office calls me and was rude and gives false info. So I been going to gym since 2019 pharr tx planet fitness and I’ve had several workers telling me about my back which ok I’ll put it away at times when one time I had my bag stolen from locker room so besides that I’ve always had my bag because I carry a lot of ropes with me … so this time they canceled my membership due to my bag now I was ok when they told me if they saw my bag in the floor again they would cancel it so I had to take all my stuff out and carried it with me then as I walk with all my ropes and left my bag in the front desk I see other Poole with bags so I felt as if I was being harassed again because of my bag … so I got mad and went ti the front and told them there people with bags and ur telling me about mine when it’s safer for me to carry my bag with am. My ropes instead of walking with them … anyways I have pictures and I want my member ship back due it’s in my city by my house .. thank you

Feel Like I Am Being Treated Like a Criminal

Dear Planet Fitness Corporate Office,
I signed my son up for Planet Fitness with Sean on November 19, 2021. We signed up for the PF Black Card membership, which is $22.99 per month, and it allows him to bring a guest anytime. The first day, I was his guest, so I had to give my name, address, phone number, date of birth, and Sean took a photograph of me. Thereafter, I visited with him as his guest with just giving my name and phone number. In addition, my husband has visited with him as a guest too, and he only gave his name and telephone number. Other than my husband just giving his name and telephone number, he stated that he never had to give his complete identity profile with a photograph, like I had to do three times. My husband and I have been driving our son to the gym for approximately 4 months, and we visit approximately 15+/- days per month, so Sean, John, Ethan, and Alex know who we are, because we frequently visit the gym.
On Friday, March 4th, I brought my son to the gym, but I had plantar fasciitis (heal pain), so I did not work out with him. Instead, I had to wait in the lobby. While I was waiting in the lobby, Ethan told me that to wait in the lobby that I had be a registered guest of the gym. The tone of his voice was harsh and unfriendly. I explained to him that my son has been a member since November 2021, and that I gave my information to be his guest at the time he registered as a new member with Sean. I explained to him that I worked out with my son as a guest or waited in the lobby for him on many occasions over the four-month period. Even though I visited with my son several times, he insisted that I was not a registered guest. At this time, I was only waiting for my son in the lobby. This made me feel very uncomfortable. I felt very unwelcomed and as if I was being treated like a criminal. FYI… I am not a criminal and I do not have a criminal history. Even though, he handed me an electronic pad, and told me that to wait in the lobby for my son that I had to complete my identity information for the second time. He told me that I will not ever have to do it again, because my name is in the system, but I explained that it should’ve already been in the system. When I arrived at home, I received a “Thank you for visiting us” email from Planet Fitness for giving my information again, which I have saved.
On March 13, 2022, I brought my son to the gym, and Sean was working. I asked him if I could be a guest to my son and ride the bike, because my heal was feeling a little better. He said, “I am sorry, but I can’t let you do that.” I said that my son has the PF Black Card Membership, and he is allowed to bring a guest, so why can’t I be his guest. Oddly, Sean knows me and my son, because he signed him up as a new member in November 2021, and he signed me up as his guest 4 months ago, but he was telling me that I couldn’t be a guest. Then, he looked in his computer system and told me that I am not in the computer system. I told him that I signed up with him on November 19, 2021, as a guest, and that Ethan made me sign up again as a guest just to sit in the lobby on March 4, 2022. For the third time, Sean made me give my identity information and he took a photograph of me. I explained to him that this is disturbing that I had to give my identity information three times. He stated that I should not ever have to give my identity information again and that I am in the system. He did not have a cold or harsh tone like Ethan did, but it is very unsettling to be treated this way.
Why wasn’t my name in the system since I registered as a guest on November 19th? Why didn’t I have any problems for four months, but then all of the sudden have problems twice in March? Why didn’t my husband have to do give his identity information at any time, but I had to sign up with my identity information three times? I feel embarrassed and disappointed at how I am being treated. As stated, I am not a criminal, but I feel like I am being treated as such. We would like to have our $22.99 membership fee reimbursed for the month of February and March for being treated so poorly. We would like to be reimbursed $46. If not, we may cancel our membership.

Planet fitness rejected taking my money for membership
I went to pay for the yearly membership with cash on March 3, 2022. They refused to take my money. This is against the law to deny cash from an individual. I do not want them keeping my card on file and they should have taken the cash. This is very unprofessional. I have paid cash for the whole year before and as a customer, this should be an option left up to me.

Charges from May 2021 thru February 2022. Account accessed and became active using my information in May. Tried to resolve it and they told me they would cancel it. I asked for corporate address; they gave me an email address. They sent me a cancellation notice and at the same time I get a text saying my bank information was incorrect with a phone number. Then I get a text thanking me for subscribing to Planet Fitness.

Tanning Beds
I have been a member with planet fitness for at least five years. In the last 6 months the facility that I use has become unsanitary. We are to sign in to use a tanning bed, yet they are not checked after that person exits the room, as it obviously should be. We are to clean our bed before we get in and clean upon exit. Yet no trash can, half the time no chair, and the floors are disgusting. I was in on Thursday 2/17/22 at 8:30am I signed in, why, I am unsure (no one checks the room) upon entering, no trash can, bloody paper towels in the floor and blood on the bed, someone had obviously cleaned themselves up and threw their disgusting paper towels onto the floor. Pretty sure everyone walks barefoot in there?! YUCK! I clean the bed before my time, clean it after, then I proceed to the front desk to let them know and ask WHY there is no trash can? I was told because people were urinating in them...FANTASTIC. Again, I ask...WHY are these rooms not checked every time someone leaves? If we have to sign in, it should be obvious who was in that particular room last. I guess this is what a cheap gym gets ya.
Health and safety
Hello, my complaint is about a customer being aloud to constantly workout amongst others in his medical attire (scrubs).
With everything going on in this world(pandemic), this is really unsafe, it is obvious that this person is some sort of medical professional and is unfortunately endangering the lives of others here. At first, I didn't want to make a big deal of this because he has been doing this for sometime now until I found out that others feel the same way.
After consulting with a CDC official, I find that my complaint is legitimate and I am asking you to adhere to the Safety and Health Guidelines as well as your own Code of Ethics to simply inform this individual to change his attire. The following gym is Planet Fitness, Hephzibah, GA 30815
CDC also suggested that I get the Better Business Bureau involved if needed. Hopefully, it ends here...

I am a medical professional like that bare and you are not. I wear scrubs to the gym. What's your major malfunction with that?
