Planet Fitness - Marketing campaign for free summer memberships for teens.

I can't speak for every location, but were I work out has a lot of long term members. By adding this promo I am already seeing a large increase in youth presents. The problem is that no one from the staff is ever on the floor, unless its to fill paper towel or empty trash. The kids are only using this place as social gathering place, with groups of four or more gathering at equipment doing more talking then using. I am specifically referring to the smith machines and benches used to do dumb bell exercises. They have no clue what they are doing and no respect for the people waiting to actually use the equipment. Today when a bench opened up I went to make my way over to use it when two teenage girls ran passed me to take it. I did approach them on how rude it was to bust pass me and then take the bench I was clearly headed to. They had no reaction to my complaint to them. With a staff that is also very young with no direction, anything goes at this location. This includes dress code violations and phone use violations. I think after the summer and many long term members getting fed up that you will loose many more then you gain.

Desired outcome: specific block of time for the teens to workout that is clear and concise so the other members know. more staff presents on the floor actually enforcing the rules.

I totally agree. I am now looking for a new gym. It seems like a breach of contract to me, to have me paying them every month for a while for the ability to come work out in a relaxing place, and then they decide to give the space I am paying for over to children to run rampant for free. The bummer is I will have to pay out the rest of my year to get out of it. But it is not that much in comparison to how stressful the place is now. I am financial analyst, and this corporate decision makes no financial sense to me.

Same at our location, University Place, WA. Was told by staff to come between 9am to 1pm when the kids would more than likely not be there. Glad I get to change my schedule until August 18th.
