I am posting this because my experience with Discover Card has been unbelievably frustrating, misleading, and completely unacceptable for a major financial institution.
I have been trying to receive a refund check that Discover repeatedly told me was issued — only to find out later that none of that was true. Below is the exact timeline of what happened:

December 18, 2025
A Discover representative told me that my refund check had been issued and mailed. I was told to expect it soon.
December 30, 2025
After not receiving anything, I called Discover again. I was told a second time that the check had been issued and mailed. No one mentioned any problems or delays.
January 2026
Still no check. I called Discover again. This time, I was told something completely different:
The previous representatives were wrong
The check was never actually sent
It “might” have been sent to the State of Louisiana as unclaimed property
Discover could not confirm anything about whether it was actually sent to the state
The State of Louisiana shows no record of receiving any such funds
I called Discover again today, and the representative could not confirm whether the check was ever mailed, ever processed, or ever transferred to the state. I was simply told to “call Louisiana unclaimed property in the morning.”
Why This Is a Serious Problem
I was given false information multiple times
Discover’s own representatives contradicted each other
No one can tell me where my money is
No one can confirm whether the refund was ever processed
I am being sent in circles between Discover and the State of Louisiana
This is not a minor issue — this is my money, and Discover cannot even track it
For a financial institution, this level of incompetence is unacceptable. If a customer made this many mistakes, Discover would charge fees, interest, and penalties. But when Discover makes the mistakes, the customer is left with no answers and no accountability.
Bottom Line
Discover failed to:
Provide accurate information
Track a simple refund
Communicate honestly
Take responsibility for their own errors
Resolve an issue they created
I have wasted hours on the phone, received conflicting stories, and still have no refund check and no confirmation of where my money is.
This experience has destroyed my trust in Discover as a credit card company.
