THIS IS A WARNING TO ANYONE CONSIDERING APPLYING FOR A DISCOVER CREDIT CARD. I had a card with Discover in excellent standing for six years. In May, 2026, I disputed a transaction for $113.35 involving a purchase I made from a merchant in Latvia who admitted having misrepresented the product on his website with outdated photos, subsequently lied to the Discover Dispute Team about issuing a credit, and worst, deceived me into returning the product for a refund (as stated in our email exchange) by deliberately failing to inform me of a no-refund policy. Three acts of fraud in one transaction, and Discover deemed the transaction valid based solely on the merchant's "no refund" policy. Note: A website policy is not a license to defraud. The merchant ended up with the payment AND the merchandise. I ended up with nothing, in addition to having paid international shipping charges—twice. Repeated appeals to the Dispute Team followed by several phone calls and emails to Discover executive offices, including one to their CEO, were either steamrolled or ignored. Despite the brochure copy, Discover does not have your back. Actions are eloquent, and Discover showed repeatedly that it simply doesn't give a damn about its customers. I have taken it upon myself to leave this review everywhere I can in the hope that people considering Discover will be able to avoid the sort of egregious failure of support that I experienced at their hands.
Recommendation: Avoid at all costs.
