During the course of arranging a rental car in Greece, we selected an option for the insurance for potential damages on the car since we were to have it for two months.
Lotus Car Rental (suggest you NEVER use them!) claimed there was $787 in damages which, we feel, is a gross exaggeration given just a couple of scratches. The scratches, as far as we know, were possibly inflicted by their own people when they took possession for a couple of hours to perform a state mandated inspection!
Nonetheless, we paid the damages as claimed and submitted a claim for reimbursement to the insurance company at the beginning of August. They’ve never acknowledged the claim, except to ask for pictures (sent), but otherwise are very difficult to reach requiring significant time on the phone! The last contact, now at the end of September, we are still being told it is “under review” and we “just have to wait”! Meantime, there is no communication from then updating us on the progress…no phone calls, texts, or emails!
I have been in the insurance business for nearly 45 years and never seen a simple claim take over two months, especially without explanations or updates! I am starting to believe this is a scam!

We have attempted to get help from customer service/help center per the reply given by Economy Bookings, but to no avail. First, it take a lot of hoops to reach a real person (in Latvia, it seems), then double talk. The first guy (named "Joe") told us that he saw the claim and that we had provided all the requested documents, but could find no progress on the claim and that help center was closed and they'd get back to us. No one did and this was almost two weeks ago! The second person mysteriously dropped the call, and the third to us to send everything to a different email address. looking back at earlier submissions it was sent to the correct address the last person stated!
It has become clear that Economy Bookings claim department has no intention of honoring, communicating, helping, nor reimbursing us for the claim submitted 90+ days ago! Recommend you steer clear of this insurance scam!
Recommendation: DO NOT USE THIS "PRODUCT"!!
