We went to Ackermans Jan kempdorp (New branch) on Sunday 31 May 2020, to purchase a cellphone. We saw a picture of a phone that we wanted (Nokia C1) and asked if they had a demo model to show us, so that we can see what the phone really looks and feels like. The man who worked at the till told us that it would take 30 minutes to retrieve the phone from the safe, and we told him that its fine, we can come back in 30 minutes. When we came back after 30 minutes to view the actual phone, the man who had told us to come back after 30 minutes was busy, so we went to another staff member. a Lady who was standing at the door, (not really doing anything). and very kindly told that we just came to look at the phone quickly and that we did make an arrangement with the cashier earlier. She was VERY rude and told us in a demeaning manner that she can't help us told us "CAN'T YOU SEE THAT I'M BUSY!". And that we should come back after and hour (After we already waited for half an hour) Needless to say, we didn't even bother to go back, instead we chose to drive 20km to a different store (JET Stores) to purchase the same phone there.
After this incident I will NEVER shop at Ackermans again, seeing that their staff is to "busy" to assist or to communicate decently with customers. Also, I get the idea that they did not WANT to sell us the phone, even though they did have it in stock. I can't help but think that someone was perhaps trying to reserve the phone for a friend or a family member. I am utterly disgusted with the way we were treated at ackermans. Clearly, your customers mean NOTHING to you!
Manager being rude
I would like to lay a formal complain against the Manager of Ackermans in Postmasburg... I went to the store to pay my account and to buy my kids some warm clothes I did not have a formal mask but I had a "doek" wrapped around my mouth and she let me in at the door while standing in the line to pay I realised that I had forgotten to buy socks for my girls so I went to take the socks and my doek slide of and my hands were full as I got to the line to ask my sus to hold the clothes for me so that I can wrap the "doek" back on tightly the manager tapped me on my back and told me to leave the shop infront of everyone in the shop I had to put all of those clothes down that I wanted to buy for my 4 kids and paying my account without having to explain myself as to why my doek is off my mouth. She has embarrassed me infront of many people I told myself she will see how my account will be payed and im not the first to complain about her is just that some people don't know the way to go. I am deeply disappointed in the way that lady has treated me since im forever buying my kids clothes there I will never sit my foot there again..

I made a lay - bye at Ackermans Northridge Mall in Bloemfontein on the 13 January 2020 with the initial date of expiry being the 12 April 2020. The total lay-bye amount was R554.00 and I made a payment of R100. I normally lay-bye winter clothes in Summer so I can save on specials. The contract number was 1000 [protected]. Due to the national lockdown the store was temporarily closed.
On the 23/04 at 14:25, I contacted the store to enquire about the status of my lay-bye as a result of the effects brought by the national lockdown. I spoke to the lady by the name of Nelly and she confirmed that the date on my lay-bye has been extended to the 27/05/2020. On the same day(23/04) at 14:33, I called the store again to confirm and verify the information and asked for Nelly again. The information provided was indeed confirmed and verified and she promised to send me a watsapp of the information but never did.
A couple of days after telephone confirmation, I went to the store again and the same information was verified by another employee who was at the tills but I did not take his name.
Today, the 14/05/2020, I visited the store to pay for my lay-byes as I had 2 separate ones ( 1000 [protected] and 1001 [protected]). To my surprise, the cashier told me that lay-bye(100 [protected]) which had a new expiry date of 27/05/2020 had been cancelled.
I feel very unappreciated and unhappy after all the troubles that I went through to ensure that my lay-bye was kept safe at the store. As I currently have 2 children that I lay-bye clothes for and now I have one very unhappy child as I only managed to bring her sister's clothes while I couldn't bring any for her as promised when I left home. What upset me the most is that the store did not even call or send a message to confirm cancellation of the lay-bye. Had I not visited the store today, the second lay bye would have been cancelled as well without any notification.
I have been a customer at Ackermans for over a decade and therefore feel that I deserve better treatment than what I have experienced today.
These clothes were procured at a very reasonable price in Summer with the anticipation that my children would have winter clothes.

Bad service
I was on the que as a customer until it was my chance to be assisted. I was collecting a Laybye and I also needed to exchange a pair of boots the size was small. Right on the till I was told to go back again and que again. The cashier was rude and ignorant, why push me aside like I jumped the que to the first meanwhile I fairly qued to request for a Laybye...

I went to Ackermans Mall of the South
I bought 2 packs of topper biscuits date 04-05-2020 and found that the expiration date has passed the biscuits were suppose to be in store for purchase before the expiration date, only noticed when I was about to finish my second packet. And according to my knowledge the stores were sanitized and well prepared for us to go buy unfortunately it seems like some of your products in store were not checked. Please ensure that all product are checked for health safety.

I bought a damaged puffer jackets for younger boys. It was a laybye I did and I paid it on 29/042020 I tried to return it the same day at Naledi mall and told me that they can't due to covid -19 I should come back. Then I return it at Eastgate centre on the 02th and they told me they can't take it because it's not their damages I should go back to Vosloorus. I never ever experienced such as I always buy clothes for my kids at ackermens my question should I stick with a damaged jacket.

I have a complain am 28 years old and 39 weeks pregnant i went to the mall to buy my unborn baby essentials in you store it was full outside mall therea were lines so the security said a pregnant lady doesn't stand in the line so i went inside the mall to Ackermans store there was a line outside. Am 39 weeks pregnant so i went straight to the door there were 2 man standing infront of the door they were speaking to each other i assume there were managers i greet them n ask them if i may come inside they said no i must stand in the line coz am not sick so i didn't wanna cause trouble so i just left i went to other store they allowed me in and i bought my stuff. They couldn't locate a store that has items I want to exchange
I went to ackerman eastrand mall and laybuyed a few items but they ddnt have sizes I wanted so I asked them to check for me in the system if they can locate which shops have sizes for the items I want only to be told we have to call each and every shop, I was so disappointed as I ddnt have time to wait and in the laybuy an Item I thought was ringed was not I had to extra for what I ddnt budget. There was a guy Nelson who was visiting the store today that guy does his job with grate determination but the rest of the stuff sham they have an attitude problem they don't even greet. I paid my Ackermans acc via eft on 3 Feb 2020. The account details was supplied to me via SMS from ackermans. To this date, 26 Feb the funds still does not reflect in my account. I have called almost everyday and sullied ackermans collections with proof of payment. I still received calls and sms's that I have not paid. The call centre states they have received the proof of payment but due to a backlog the funds have not been allocated to my acc. This is very poor service from ackermans. No one has taken ownership and called me back. This is also not the 1st time it has happened to me. Why give people the option to make eft pmts but then don't allocate the funds... Where is the convince?
Attitude by male salesperson/Cashier - deliberate go slow @ closing time
I entered Ackermans Wynberg +- 7 February, I recall it was a Friday. I did not keep my purchase "till slip". At the time, I had diarrhea, so was not feeling well, but ok, had used the public toilet upstairs in Maynard Mall upstairs & then entered Ackermans to purchase panties. I bought a set of panties & a male of color on the floor asked if he could help me; I said I was looking for bath sponges; he said that they did not stock. I proceeded to pay at the pay point, where I saw a lot of sponges marked down on the 'shelf' right opposite the counter by the tills. I told him that he said you do not stock sponges, yet u had a lot. He said they are kitchen sponges.Then there was a discrepancy, a big delay & issue about the price of the sponges - some were marked down, others not, some were not priced at all.He took long & said the prices all scan the same, this after I asked him for the Manager. The other cashiers were taking very long to process purchases of customers before me; the behind me were impatient & in response he told me I had pushed in. Not so.The queue was very slow, a hold up caused by the other 2 cashiers, all this just before closing time of Maynard Mall/Ackermans & load shedding was starting shortly on that specific day.I asked him for the Manager;a young female then sorted out the prices of the sponges; he told me in front of the other customers & manageress/ cashier that I had pushed in, so as to cover up for the swearing, racism and rude behavior of women in the queue behind me, to the point that I said I would call the police & just leave. I asked for a security guard; he, the same male assistant of colour said there was NO security in the store; earlier, I had bought diarrhea tablets at Clicks on that same floor opposite Ackermans, I just wanted to pay for my goods & leave; my purchase was +- R300+ for the set of panties & sponges.I did not push into the queue, but the male floor assistant/cashier humiliated me in front of other customers & staff;there was a deliberate go slow in the queue at then closing time; no apology that sponges were not marked/priced correctly; I left feeling upset, as the other customers were allowed to insult & victimise me. I am a senior white female & these nasty racist women (blacks & of color) were all ganging up against me, victimising me & shouting, making nasty remarks loudly.. (it often happens in shops in Wynberg, other stores too); I am totally innocent, not a difficult person, a longstanding citizen of Wynberg, bought my flat, have lived here since 1978 & I was victimised as a white female by your male staff member & customers who were ganging up against me in support of him & race hate. How dare you allow this? No apology . I was ill also at the time also & have since recovered; I fear another incident when I go in there again; I am a 65 year old white female pensioner, do no drive, far to travel to KC or Clarement; I do not often shop there, but have always liked Ackermans stock in general.My late mum also bought at Ackermans.
She died 1986. I love Ackermans. I am heart broken.

I went to ackermans festival mall to purchase a phone and after 2weeks I realise there was sonething wrong with the front camera.1st february I went to the store to inquire. I got there and explained my problem everyone there denyed seing the problem with the camera and we took pictures trying to show them the problem but they continued to insist there was nothing wrong with that phone, was there until closing time. eventually I decided im leaving the phone to get fixed. the lady said she will book it for repairs and it will take 3weeks to do so... yestday exactly 3 weeks later I got a call from ackermans festival mall saying the phone came back from repairs and I should come to collect. excited I took my lunch time at work to get there and get the same faulty phone I left. I explained to the lady that the phone was still the same and they again insisted that samsung has poor quality pictutes. I didnt take that and we took pictures again trying to show them the problem and later on another guy was called to assist and finally he saw the problem with the camera. and I wanted to understand why my phone was not fixed and he tells me the lady who booked the phone for repairs who was Tumi didnt say which camera was faulty so they fixed the back camera which disnt have a problem. so for 3weeks I waited for my new phone to get fixed only to have it returning in the same way. now im upset that they took my phone to repairs and didnt even get fixed. why did I suffer without a phone? now the guy tells me he will have to book it again for repairs and it will take another 3weeks. so il spend 6 weeks wothout a phone because their cashier didnt say what was wrong with my phone or because the repair people didnt do their job n thought I was stupid to say the camera was faulty, thats if it teally did go for repairs like I was told. the problem the repair people couldnt see the whole 3weeks was seen by a guy who works in the shop, they have the guts to call me and say the phone was fixed. so I buy a phone at ackermans n I dont have a phone that I payed for because their people are not doing their job. I bought a phone because I needed one now I cant do the things I wanted to do with the new phone. Lesego Mokgatle and my contacts are [protected]/[protected]. product exchange problem
My son received clothing as a birthday gift and the tags were still on the clothes when he received it. It did not fit him and i went to Ackermans in Vangate Mall to exchange it for a bigger size. I stood in the normal long que that there usullay is at that Ackermans and there is never staff on the floor to help you get the clothing that is high up that we as customers cannot reach by. So I first had to walk around the store looking for someone to assist me, did not find anybody then I stood and waited after 8 minutes finally someone walked pass wearing ackermans clothing and I asked her to assist me. Then I went to stand for 30 minutes in a que to exchange the items, finally when I got to a cashier I explained my story to her and asked her if I could exchange it for a bigger size, she then told me she needs to ask the manager while she was helping me she was also helping another customer. The manager came and I told him my story and he blatently refused to help me or even try to get someone to help me, I told him that I understand that I do not have the slip but the tags are all in place and is there nobody that he could contact and ask If he could help me. He said no and walked away, not only is the staff and the manager service pathetic and horrible, the store is alway untidy. I am not a racist person but I enjoy shopping in a area where the majority of the client based people are white becuase that is where you would get excellent service and the staff would go out of their way to assist you. To end off my story I did go to a different Ackermans store and there was no long ques and I was helped with no problem. So I am telling people to boycott Ackermans store in Vangate Mall because you will get long ques, horrible service and unfriendly staff.

I bought a Premio power bank on the 3rd of February 2020 and yesterday the 14th of February 2020 its charging point is ruined. It literally doesn't work anymore yet I bought it recently. M extremely disappointed and because the packaging it came in is in the bin they refuse to do anything about this. Am extremely disappointed in the service as well as the product I wouldn't advice anyone to buy this device at all
Read full complaint3 grey school shorts stitching came undone for no valid reason!
I pride myself on being a very Loyal customer of Ackermans, believing that the quality of your garments are far superior than the likes of Jet or PEP stores for instance.
In January, I purchased, among other school uniform items, 3 Sz. 13, Grey Shorts for my son.
Without even washing them before school began, but having to shorten by a qualified seamstress, they were packed away in his cupboard ready to wear once school began.
The first day of school, my son got dressed, only to come to me to point out that all the stitching, from the end of the left pocket had come away and the material had freyed to such and degree, the shorts were gaping open.
I instructed him to put on one of the other pairs, which he did, and went off to school. By 10h30, I got a call from the school, saying that my son was in a state because the same exact thing had happened, this time, from the end of the zip, all the way to the buttocks area.
I rushed through to my mortified son, who had been made fun of, with the 3rd pair of shorts.
I waited as he changed into the 3rd pair, only to be met with a tearful 12yr old. The third pairs stitching had come away from the buttocks area.
I had to go to the schools lost and found to find him something.
I did take all 3 shorts back to the Ackermans in Bothasig, only to be told that because I had had the hem shortened, there was nothing they could do, which understand.
Now, I want to clarify, the shorts were bought at that size so that they would last him the year, they were in no way too tight. Secondly, ultimately, the only secure stitching was where the seamstress had hemmed them.
I asked her if she could repair the shorts, because I am not unreasonable, I understand you may have had a bad batch. However due to the severity of the stitches pulling loose and the consequent fraying of the material, she said it would be better to buy new shorts.
As a Loyal Client, who has always supported Ackermans, I am grievously disappointed, and hope that some compensation, for the R300 I confidently spent on the shorts alone, be allocated.
I have come directly to you with my issue and look forward to a timeous response to this complaint.
