Whirlpool Disappointing Experience with Whirlpool Appliances

As a potential customer considering Whirlpool appliances, I must share my disappointing experience. After purchasing a top load washer model, I encountered lid lock issues immediately. Despite attempts to troubleshoot, the lack of service availability in my area was frustrating. The need for a replacement from a different brand became evident. The lack of timely and effective support left me dissatisfied and seeking alternatives.

Whirlpool Whirlpool Washer Don't Buy This Model WTW5057LW

Last month we purchased a Whirlpool WTW5057LW to replace our GE 5 year old washer. This was not a low end or top end model, so we expected a reasonable level of quality. We purchased from Home Depot and had them install it.

The installation went fine. When we washed our first load we noticed a "Clunking" noise as well as a louder operating noise than our old GE unit. Whirlpool sent a tech out. He did not find anything wrong, he explained that it was designed in a way that this noise was normal. Nothing was wrong.

My wife and I could hear the clunking and loud operating noise from the laundry room with the door closed. This isn't acceptable. I spoke with Whirlpool asking them to replace this with another model (even at my expense). They refused. I then contacted Home Depot and asked them to replace with a different model, again offering to pay any difference. They refused.

I use to like Whirlpool products, however, it seems as though their cost cutting in products have created cheaper products with less customer satisfaction. Their attitude on customer support certainly reflects they do not care to try and support their customers.

As a result of this unfortunate experience and expens, e I do not plan to purchase major appliances from Home Depot or Whirlpool going forward.

We are very sorry for your experience. It's difficult to determine what this "clunking" noise, as you describe it, is.

It is important to understand that every appliance has its own unique sounds. It takes time to simply become user to these new operating sounds.

It's normally never up to the manufacturer to exchange a unit as they weren't the seller. If the retailer exchanges it, they'll take it back and resell it at a loss. You might consider selling it locally and then purchase a new one.

Before doing so, consider whether this next model will have its own unique clicks.

Whirlpool Microwave works well but looks and feels unappealing

I bought a whirpool microwave recently and it has worked well so far with even reheating and defrosting in particular. The only issue I have is that it just doesn't look nor sound like it was well made with quality materials. I'm not sure where it was manufactured (most likely china) but it looks cheap and it doesnt sound sturdy when your opening and closing the door. I only wished it felt and looked like what I had actually paid for.

I have called Whirlpool customer service 7 to 10 time with no avail. They refuse to replace refrigerator. They will not give me a determined length of time when they will stop sending repair persons and refund monies. I don’t know if whirlpool has so many problems with their appliances, they can’t afford honor their warranty.

My husband is a 100% disabled veteran a has stage 4 cancer. We feel we should not have to endure Whirlpool’s lemons or their lack of customer service. We just want a working refrigerator.

We are sure sorry to hear of your husband's difficulties. Many cancers can be overcome these days, even at stage 4.

That's a wonderful model of fridge. Many of that very model is in use throughout America.

Whirlpool uses high quality service technicians to determine and repair Whirlpool branded products. Because each product produced is comprised of multiple parts, it becomes impossible for any one service center to house every part for every product ever produced. This is why the service process is generally comprised to more than a single visit.

Whirlpool also utilizes a wide range of high quality retailers to sell and deliver their products. If refunds are ever provided, it's through the retailer you want to request this from. It's also possible that, through separate service agreements, these products can be replaced.

Please contact your fine Whirlpool retailer. If your difficulties are not entirely resolved, LET US KNOW. We want to make sure you're absolutely delighted with your refrigerator.

Whirlpool Faulty Washing Machine - Unresolved

Whirlpool are simply the most difficult company that I have ever had to deal with, customer service is extremely poor and there is no email address that we can use which responds to a customer issue.

Our machine is under warranty and the company refuse to replace it even though it has been faulty since purchase. We have had 5 engineer call outs and each engineer has a different story, they have yet to fix the problem...

DO NOT purchase Any Whirlpool item as it has caused months of stress and wasted time off work. I have recently bought a new dishwasher and have refused to purchase a Whirlpool, we are building a new home and I will not purchase any Whirlpool items, all of my friends are in the same phase of their lives and after witnessing our experience, they will not purchase any Whirlpool appliance. Customer Service should be #1 but unfortunately with Whirlpool they will not stand by their customer or indeed their warranty.

Very Disappointed, exhausted and out of pocket!

Whirlpool Whirlpool top load washer with removable

Reaching out because I had no luck with Whirlpool. I purchased this two years ago.

Right after owning this for a year I noticed around the softener and bleach compartment the part was no longer seated any more due to a bad finishing on product. It’s literally pealing away.. the coating is horrible!

This should not have happened I should not have had to buy an extended warranty on a brand new machine. And for the paint coating to start peaking a year later! On a 1400 washer!

I’ve reached out three times sent pictures and told I’m out of warranty! It’s not about warranty it’s about a bad coating job!

Please advise! It’s continuing to get worse

We are extremely sorry for your frustration. Ideally, you're right that this isn't something one would expect. Thousands of models have been sold without issue.

It would appear the unit has been chipped around the dispenser, allowing moisture to access the underlying metal; in turn, this than causes the rust. We'd dare say the problem is likely to get worse unless addressed.

Regardless of why the issue is occurring, the manufacturer's warranty is the guarantee to cover the costs of parts and/or labor related to (a) defective part(s) during a certain period of time. This coverage is calculated into the cost of the merchandise and common with most manufacturers. Some consumers are not satisfied with the length or limited coverage of the manufacturer's warranty and make the purchase in such a way to cover such issues for longer periods of time.

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU'RE HAPPY WITH YOUR WHIRLPOOL WASHER. If you've confirmed you don't have longer coverage directly with Whirlpool, contact the fine retailer you've purchased the unit from. You may find you have coverage that can be utilized to cover the cost of service. At the very least, they should be able to put you in contact with a local service provider to resolve the problem.

PLEASE LET US KNOW IF THAT DOESN'T COVER THE ISSUE.

Whirlpool Hybridcare Heat Pump Dryer

I am surprised that there is not a way to clean out the lint out behind the screen of the bottom lint filter. It was a poor design to not have the screen be removable so that the customer could clean as needed. Instead I am told that you have to have a technician come in and take apart the dryer to clean at who knows what cost. Is there another option? The model # I have is WED7990FW0.

I used a small wire and knocked all the lint off the evaporator fins. The problem is all of the lint settled to the bottom and because the holes are so small in the screen the shop vac did not suck the lint out. So eventually it is going to just pile up and block it completely.

Desired outcome: Can the screen be cut out and cleaned out then taped back in. or can I drill a one inch hole in the screen to suck out the lint. Would these be options? Would whirlpool pay the cost? I'd appreciate a response.

Whirlpool Whirlpool high efficiency top load washing machine

Through Home Depot Portland Maine purchased July 15, 2022 Whirlpool High Efficiency Top Load Washing Machine. Came with manufacturers standard warranty. On February 19, 2024 the washing machine broke down with the problem that put in wash cycle and fill to selected wash level then the wash begins. When the washing machine clicks to the spin cycle the machine completely shuts off. This is permanent the the machine is completely unusable to wash clothes. The washer is 20 months old and slightly over the Manufacturers Standard Warranty. But Whirlpool is a strong company and has earned a strong reputation and that's why l chose Whirlpool. L paid $591.00 for a product l expected would last for many years. I am requesting Whirlpool stands behind their product and issue me a replacement at no charge and hopefully does not use that the washer exceeded their standard warranty. The fact that l only got 20 months usage from a Whirlpool product should be an embarrassment to them.

We are very sorry to hear of your experience. Without question, no one purchases a washer with the assumption he or she will run into problems writin the second year of use. Many Whirlpool owners will be using their product(s) for many years, if not decades down the road. Every once in a great while, someone will experience problems far sooner. Unfortunately you appear to be one that had problems.

Whirlpool is very proud to provide an industry standard, one year limited warranty with most of their products. For some consumers, however, they prefer longer warranty coverage so Whirlpool partners with many fine retailers who offer longer coverage.

Let's have you start by checking with the retailer you purchased this unit through. You may find the cost of repair or replacement is covered through them.

Most importantly, PLEASE make sure to let us know if that doesn't resolve the problem.

Whirlpool Washing Machine Model # WTW6120HW2 and Serial # CB110409

We bought a brand new Whirlpool Washing machine in 2022 and did not have it a year and had to replace the Capacitor. Today, we had to replace the agitator, and pay $328 to get it done. We are very disappointed and frustrated with your product. Our last washing machine was still in perfect condition after 21 years, but we decided to get a new washer and dryer because we remodeled our laundry room. You don't expect to have these types of issues and out of pocket expenses with a brand new product, and we believe we truly bought a lemon. What are you going to do rectify this terrible situation and make us want to continue to be a Whirlpool customer?

We are extremely sorry to hear of your frustration. No question that one plans on their appliance lasting multiple years without issue. Unfortunately, for each consumer that gets 21 years from one appliance, another may get far less. Thankfully Whirlpool automatically provides a full year, limited warranty with each of its products. Whirlpool also partners with many quality retailers which provide extended service agreements for those consumers that prefer longer coverage.

If you would, please contact the fine retailer you purchased this unit through. You may likely find they offer coverage that protect you against unexpected repairs.

Most importantly, please let us know if that doesn't fully cover any and all of your concerns.

What I can say. The worse appliances ever. From the first time after a couples months. The cheap made stove start to show the cheap quality. And more and more the cheap quality start to show every where from the crime parts to the black enamel finish g the is peeling off and the oven door glass that doesn’t never clean clean no material what you do. They already changed once under warranty but I stop the warranty. I am waiting the stove to brake and get a new brand. The worse item ever bought I had my first stove for 25 years. In white and I wanted to change big mistake. Do not buy stove range with pool. Very cheap quality look very good in the eyes but but very bad when you start to use especially if you can cook. Whirlpool Gold Series Whirlpool gas stove

I have a Gold Series Whirlpool stove. It apparently has been defective since I purchased in 2015. The flame on the burners is totally set too high. Every time I cook on it, I have to use the lowest setting, or I end up burning my wrist. I am tired of cooking everything on the low setting. Something needs to be changed for the burners to work on the proper control setting. I tried to find a video to show me how to try and fix it, but every video I saw was not the one for the model of stove I have. My husband does not have a clue about how to try and fix the problem. Do I have to continue cooking on a stove at a lower temperature, or risk burning myself?

Whirlpool Whirlpool refrigerator

I purchased my Whirpool Dec 26 2022. It doest freeze Ice Cream solidly. I have had them send 3 different appliance repair companies now with 6 visits- evaporate, condenser, Compressor and now the current repair company us goung to try a control panel replacement. Whirlpool says the repair company must say it us unrepairable. It has been 11 months now. 11 months and not being able to use it fully.

Claimed loss: Throwing Ice Cream out over $ 100.00

Desired outcome: Replace or money back.

Whirlpool Front-load washer model wfw5620hw0

4.5 year old Whirlpool model WFW5620HW0, serial C907 51176, washer with defective plastic casing caused leak of drum water into bearing and seized. Stopped motor from turning drum.

Purchased at Lowe's in Colorado on 3/9/2019, price $809.00.

Worked fine until it just stopped turning the drum one day. $600 in diagnostics and repairman's last ditch check was to pull the back off and check the motor and bearings. Found the bearings seriously rusted from a drum leak due to plastic not fully covering the drum. No broken plastic pieces, this is a factory defect that somehow made it through quality assurance.

Everything is connected to the bearings, rotor, motor and so the entire washer would need new parts to run properly again.

I am very disappointed in Whirlpool that this made it through inspection. I will never buy Whirlpool again due to this oversight.

Claimed loss: $809 washer, $600 in diagnosing the issue with repairman and another $800 to buy another washer.

Desired outcome: Would like a refund.

It is the load and go model! I don't agree with your assessment. This is not user error and is designed to also warn if detergent is overused.

You can clearly see the plastic was not formed properly and leaked into that area. Always used HE appropriate detergent and single person with less washing than a family would require.

Several calls were made with whirlpool experts and decisions were made that it had to be door or electronic board causing issues. Control board and door parts were $300 and add in repair labor and yep it adds up fast these days.

Yes, repair costs can add up fast at anytime.

The patented "Load & Go" system designed exclusively by and for Whirlpool branded washers can help prevent against the overuse of detergent. However, it is not required to be used. Was it something you regularly made use of?

Also, did you contact Lowe's to whether extended warranty service was available or had been purchased with the unit? Such programs are offered, in many cases, to save the consumer from the unexpected costs of having an appliance repaired before one might expect. We'd like to look at every avenue of assisting with the costs.

We are so sorry for the issue you're having with your Whirlpool product. The 5620 is a wonderful model. It's received multiple awards and praises throughout the industry.

$600 is quite a lot for simply diagnosing a problem.

It is possible that an overuse of detergent has compromised the seals which protect the bearings. They've definitely been damaged.

You might consider replacing the unit with one that utilizes Whirlpool's patented "Load & Go" dispensing system.

Whirlpool French Door Refrigerator WRF954CIHZ

Purchased September 18, 2018 @ Warner Stellian Shakopee, MN $2693.25

Service has been required 6 times. All service was performed by MyAppliance Source Shakopee Minnesota [protected] and is listed below:

1. December 20, 2020 - Freezing up. Cost of repair $541.24

2. January 12, 2021 - Ice Maker. Cost of repair $239.09

3. June 23, 2021 - Ice Maker. Cost of repair $159.00

4. August 4, 2021 - Freezing up. Cost of repair $460.97

5. August 17, 2021 - freezing up. Cost of repair $328.54

6. July 31,2023 - freezing up. Cost of repair 210.60

Summary: Refrigerator is 5 years old. Repair bills to date are $1939.44. Still there is ice build up in the base on the refrigerator section. Monthly we remove the ice using a hair dryer and mopping up with towels. This process takes 2 hours minimum.

Whirlpool refrigerators product is quality? No. The service provider has done all required service on all our appliances with no issues/.

Claimed loss: $1939.44

Desired outcome: 7 years Free warranty service starting today

Whirlpool freezer

we purchased a whirlpool freezer from Lowes about 3 years ago and have had nothing but problems with it. Your design on the upright freezer sucks. You can not block the air flow at all in this freezer or you will loose all of your food. you can't even put boxes in it. So I think to date we have lost a minum of $600.00 in food. I will not buy anything that whirlpool that is put on sale again.

Whirlpool Maytag commercial line washer

MAYTAG COMMERCIAL LINE top load washer purchased at LOWES. 1.5 YEAR ago. I bought an extended 5 year warranty from WHIRLPOOL. After 6 months gear box and shifter went out. In October washer quit working. The extended warranty people AIG sent out a company in Indpls. called GROVES appliance repair. After 5 different visits after each failing to repair and ordering more parts, they left today saying they are going to try a lower wiring harness they have to order. They have tried replacing control board twice, motor and all its associated electronics. Gears etc. Tech said after this there is nothing left to replace. I need help on getting another washer. Im told whirlpool has this all on record because the groves

techs call them each time. I can be reached at [protected], Mr. Roberts. please help on this.
