I was a customer of Waste Management for over twenty years. Prices have doubled and service has decreased dramatically in the last three years. Last August I received a $25 bill from them for a recycling sticker that needed to be applied to my recycling cart. At the time I also noticed, for the first time, the statement that by "canceling after initial acceptance" a charge of $75 would be made for cart removal. I called, intending to cancel my service because of the cart removal and sticker fees. I was told that the $75 was not charged in my area and the sticker fee was required because of a change in the cities recycling rules. I agreed to pay the $25 and keep service with the understanding that I would not agree to pay the cart removal fee. Now after another year of paid service and continued decline in their pick up times I decided to change providers. I am being charged $80.07 for cart removal. I emailed the WMcares.com about this last week and received a past due email today for the fee. No other communication from them. I certainly will recommend to any new neighbors to avoid them at all cost!
Desired outcome: Cancel the fee
I did get an email reply asking that I call. After a frustrating automated phone tag game, a ten minute hold time and then a call transfer the fee was canceled. I am thankful to put this behind me!
Ive been with them over a year and they raised the bill 10 dollars more. i was talking with them and they told me i would be charged a 75 dollar fee to come get carts. I said I will not be paying that, I have no contract with wm and this implies iof you ever cancel with wm your whole life we will charge you 75 dollars to come pick up cans, it makes no sense and is not legal as far as I know. I now have cancelled when my period ends to where I owe 0 nothing and if I receive a bill, i'm not paying it. I see nothing legal about this charge at all. not doing it.
