Waste Management [WM] Ethics

Was employed with the company as a shop manager and Senior tech. I was the only mechanic, secretary, purchasing agent and responsible for more trucks and equipment every year, with no help. Fleet size at the time of my Feb 12 th, 2009 termination was 24 units. Upper management had verbally attacked me in "meetings", that were held behind closed doors. I had asked for assistance for approx 4 years, out in the maintenance shop; nothing was ever implemented. But during these meetings I was asked over and over to work a night shift, alone on heavy equipment. I had spoke up and said that I wasnt comfortable working alone at night, when no one was around, as the site was closed @ 5pm daily. So in Feb, 2009; I had been off work with my Son, as he was ill. Upon returning to work after being gone for 3 days, the site manager called me into his office. As I sat down @ 0830, he said I was being terminated for misuse of a company cell phone. No prior written or verbal warnings were ever issued. And to add more insult and discredit my way, Waste Management's employer response to reason for termination to the local unemployment agency was, " employee violated company safety policy, and was employed as a driver? For entire employment period, never was I classed as a driver, only senior tech, and the pay scale for senior tech. And not once had I ever texted any one from a company vehicle, nor was I ever warned or spotted using a cell phone in a company vehicle, sending text messages. The employers response was appealed, and the appeal was reviewed in my favor.

I worked for Waste Management for quite a few years and gave it my all 200% everyday. I saw alot of things being brushed under the rug. Toters being given to employees in areas that didnt even offer it as well as back door service given free of charge to employees and nothing wrong with them or spouse. Bills not being paid in full and service still restarted employees families. I had turned in into Corp office that was a mistake. I knew too much information. Then one Saturday I signed up for OT and got injured 3 weeks later I was fired yes fired no unemployement no work comp no nothing. ( I live in Pa what do you expect) So now I haver been dealing with Gallagher Bassett of Pa to pay my medical bills so far so good there employyes are real ingornant people and your nurce case manager thinks you must talk to them by law no you dont they get there report every time I go to the Doc you want to know how Iam you ask the Doctor.

I worked with WM for a little bit more than 2 years and I stopped going to work because a supervisor and his followers wouldn't leave me alone. I know its because I was the shop steward before called the integrity line wich by the way its nowhere near an integrity line. Talked to theold manager about it and the new one too didn't do bleep. Worse experience in my life working for them. Even the supervisor was "worried" about loosing his job and told some people he was going to call enviromental companies so they shut the place down. WM Stay away from them!

My husband works with waste management in BridgeportW.V. But is quitting soon he leaves at 4 am for work and does'nt get home till 8 or 9 pm but this is not the reason I'm writing . The lady that works in dispatch her name is Linda is total Bleep if you call there she is rude and thinks she is above everyone else. She will send the men 50 or more miles out of their way to back track to pick up gabage that was'nt out to begin with. Making men late on their other pickups and if they get help it takes away from productivity which cuts their pay. My husband is not getting his vaccation because they have so many ppl quiting the can't let anyone off. Linda puts pressure on so many men that I feel A few of the recnt accidents are her fault she gets these men so aggrivated and in a hurry that they make mistakes . These guys work far too many hours too they need to do something on corporate level to fix the problems and hire moe competent people for managers .. Telling te managers and boss there does nothing

I love it. I'm glad people like Gina Long got what's coming to them. Workplace bullying have been going on forever. So whenever a bully gets taken down...it's always a good thing. Karma worked her magic again.

If you need any info on more of their bad acts send someone to Steamboat Co. The mechanic there wont fix trucks, bobcats, or anything that needs to be done just to show his power and try to make others feel they are learning a lesson for things breaking. He will spend most of his time yelling at his assistant and sitting around talking on his phone or try to find someone to listen to his stories of anything but work. The stories they tell about keeping recycles separated from trash is a lie. they throw out so much recycles it's insane. If someone came and just watched the drivers and how they run their routes, the place should be shut down.

Waste Management [WM] Scam charges

Waste management bills consumers in my city in quarterly installments. If you, the consumer, do not receive your bill for any reason, do not pay it within the first 4 weeks of receiving the invoice (it is mailed @3 weeks prior to the start of the new quarter), or do not pay the full amount, whether by intent or accident, the company will still pick up your refuse but will put your account on "suspension" and charge you, the consumer a $35 re-instatement fee.

Sounds fine, because most companies providing a service can and do charge reconnect fees.in the case of waste management, the do not ever inform you in any way whatsoever on your original invoice that there is a reconnect fee if they suspend service for non-payment, nor do they mail out late notices. They do not notify the consumer in writing prior to imposing this fee.

You have to pay the fee or they will halt service. And you, their consumer, have no recourse.

In my case, my city has an ordinance requiring it's citizens to have trash service. And the city has a contract with waste management. As a result, if I refuse to pay a bill, not only am I charged a fee for reconnect from waste management, but I could be found to be in non-compliance of city code/ordinance and can be fined by the city up to $125. Waste management knows this, so they charge whatever they want, and then you are forced to pay, one way or another.

I would like to know if others have had similar billing problems/issues with waste management, or if you have been charged a fee like this by waste management without any notice prior to the charge. GET THIS: village ordinance states Residents using any amount of water are forced into Groot garbage pickup with village code enforcement. My case: single lady 55 years old with no garbage presently, been rehabbing a home I bought/incorporated area/rehabbing this home by myself - using bare minimum of water, rehabbing three years now almost, and just recently Groot started billing me the quarterly billing...so far maybe $200.00 plus dollars. I do not live in the home therefore I am not a Resident, Groot states I am using water via village house is located in, and therefore Groot has drummed up false billing - I have NO GARBAGE and in fact just recently I discovered a new bin in my driveway. Groot tells me that rehabbers' finish rehabbing a home in three to four months; wait a minute I am just a single woman doing all the work by myself. Groot tells me that I am using water, so Groot has to bill me like a Resident using water and living within the house; I AM NOT LIVING IN THE HOME. Is this legal? Now village informs me that they the village will not use code enforcement actions upon me - no brainer, and that is probably because I am not living in the house like a Resident; as all their codes only affect Residents. But wait a minute - what about harrassment from Groot; when I have no garbage. To top it off - where I do live as a Resident; we have had garbage for 40 plus years now. What do I do in this case people? Any advise for me...would be greatly appreciated before they Groot ruin my credit rating. And I have not paid a penny, and do not plan on it; as I have no garbage, and no prior account for Groot and this house.

Waste Management has been sending me bills for years for waste removal service at a property they have NEVER serviced for trash removal. The borough that I live in has a different company for waste removal, plus the house had been vacant for over 5 years. They sent a bill for several years to a collection company, and they still send me bills even though I wrote to them and explained I am not their customer. I even provided proof of the borough where the property is located, along with the LISTED waste removal company which is a competitor of WM. They have never ONCE picked up a lick of trash from this property, not even a gum wrapper, but they are trying to scam me for over $1, 000!

This company is corrupt and needs to be investigated and shut down.

My husband and I had cancelled services with Waste Management because we felt their prices were too high. After a month, we decided to use their services again because we were unable to find another company within reason for our trash services. My husband called WM and asked if there would be a fee to continue our service with them and the representative, of course, said NO. So we go ahead and continue using their service, and this month, we received 2 bills totaling $147.59 from these [censor] that includes a "$55 resume service fee. "ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!" I just discovered another company that services our area and when i contacted them, they informed me that they only charge $20 a month for a 65 gallon bin! Thank God for them, but boy do I feel stupid for wasting my time and money on WASTE MANAGEMENT...I would NEVER recommend or use their services ever again!

Here it is again. These corporate companies taking advantage of devoted customers. I'm ok to spend a little more for a service, if I am getting good service. Corporate know this. their for, they precede to raise the price gradually with mainly greed in mind. Unless you call a competitor you well never know how hi is to hi. But why would a question it, surly this is the industry price plus some . Besides I'm a good customer their is no reason to gouge me. Then time moves on and it become obvious. $ 318 a month for every two weeks for 2 yard box. "really" what is going on. What, s the competitors price? " What" only $135 O my god They are ripping me off. Then comes the " shaft" when you want to cancel. This is how this generation of large corporates work now. Supported by our courts and no government guideline to help the consumer. I Be leave I will consider throwing my trash out the window.

September 5, 2017 was my last day of garbage service with Recology because that is the day i moved out of my rental and moved into my current rental.
February 6, 2018, I received a Notice in the mail from the property management at my CURRENT RESIDENCE TO VACATE THE PREMISES BECAUSE OF AN UNPAID BILL with RECOLOGY at my previous rental. WHAT?!
I called Recology and the person i talked to had a very heavy accent barely comprehensible and had to spell out her email to me because she wants me to submit "proof" that I actually moved out when i say i did. When i closed the account back in September the customer service person i spoke to did NOT have an accent. So obviously the current customer service person expressed disbelief that i closed the account because she's not the person i talked to. Anyway, They have an interoffice problem in accounting and they're trying to pin their mistake on me.
I DO NOT HAVE NOR HAVE I HAD AN ACCOUNT WITH RECOLOGY EVER SINCE I LEFT THE RENTAL IN SEPTEMBER OF 2017!
Why is Recology threatening my current RENTAL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT with a lien when i don't have service with them and haven't since i moved out. Why is Recology putting liens on landlords for a tenant utility bill in the first place? That doesn't make any sense to me at all.
The problem with all of this is I'll probably end up homeless because of the way Recology goes about trying to collect on unpaid bills...AND IN MY CASE THERE ISN'T AN UNPAID BILL..and now i have to submit copies of my personal documentation that is confidential like the PG&E closing bill, AT&T closing bill, etc and i don't feel comfortable giving them my accounts information. If they can screw up by not closing my account and charge me anyway, why wouldn't they use my personal identifying information for illegal purposes... .I could just imagine ...with all of the illegal immigrants in California it is not far-fetched to imagine that my personal identifying information can and possible will be used for identity theft purposes...

This company is FRAUD, and scam, i used to have service with them for a long time, then suddenly in one month they overcharge me about $3000, for calling "Overage" charge, which was not true, i used to produce the same amount of trash for more than 3 years, they keep calling me to collect, but i defiantly refused, and asked to challenge them in court,
Stay away from WM, all fraud and rude customer service.

As the former WMI employee accurately pointed out, my quarterly bill increased almost every single time. When I had enough and cancelled, I was told that they could significantly lower my rates! That's 100% proof that the incremental increase in rates to existing customers is not warranted, it's merely gigging existing customers for more money and hoping they won't notice. Then they surprised me with a $25 tote removal fee. I could deliver their totes anywhere in the city for $1 of my fuel and would have gladly done so had I known there was a fee equal to a whole month of service for picking up their own totes. I will never do business with them again and I will tell others to avoid this company like all other morally bankrupt corporations.

Don't sign a contract with them. They will lock you into a rolling contract. In order to cancel you have to send them a certified letter 90 days in advance of your 'expiration date'. If you don't, your contract rolls over for an entire new term. In my case it rolled to another 36 months. If I cancel, I have to pay a pickup fee $100, plus 6 months of billing in my case $906. Beware of this company!

I am a customer of Waste Management & have been for the last 9 years. There was a random charge on my last bill of $18.48, I didn't look at my bill closely, so paid it. On my latest bill the random $18.48 has been added again. I phoned WM today (08/19/11 - spoke with a customer service rep, then Stephanie Floor Lead/Supervisor) they told me it was their mistake & they couldn't explain why it had been added, but I have to pay it anyway & they will then credit my account on my next bill. I told them I cannot afford to pay the random charge/mistake then to be reimbursed in two months time. I was told if I do not pay this random added charge, I may incure late fees! After hearing this I asked if I could speak with a Manager, only to be told that the Manager had just gone into a meeting & will only repeat the same anyway. I'm outraged that I have overpaid on my last bill and now have to overpay on this bill when I can't afford to.

Waste Management [WM] Demand for payment

We just received a "demand for payment" for services to a property that we sold 3 years ago. We did not receive anything from them prior to the nasty letter demanding payment and a threat to turn it over to a collection agency. On august 8, 2004, I cancelled the service to the address 16857 e. Napa drive, aurora, co. Our bill was paid in full at the time I cancelled it. What is the best way to handle this.

Collections not made but the company argue they have with forged signatures. Try booking a collection after no collections they state no nobody’s booked. Needle bins over flowing. And still no collection. They are very good at booking collections but nobody collects. Do not sign in to a two contract. Disgusting service.

These people have only one job and they are amazing at doing it wrong. They miss pick ups often with no remorse, customer service could not care less about complaints, and they do not do bulk pick ups even though that is a service included in the monthly fee. This is what happens when a public service is managed by an incompetent private company.

Absolutely awful customer service. We've been trying to cancel services over 3 months now. We've mailed certified mail with return receipt service; called numerous times leaving messages & also have submitted online requests and have received zero feedback or confirmation of our services needing to be cancelled and empty containers picked up.
