I rented a car from Sixt on 12 December, collecting the vehicle from Heathrow Airport, Terminal 4, and returned it on 16 December, on time and in good condition.
I am writing to raise a formal complaint regarding both an unproven vehicle damage claim and an unauthorised additional charge applied after my rental.
Following the return of the vehicle, I received an email from Sixt’s damage department alleging a “new damage” described as “Roof center middle scratch 10 cm (down to primer)”. This claim was made without providing any photographs, inspection reports, or other evidence, and I fully dispute it.
To reiterate the facts:
At vehicle collection, no staff member was present.
I contacted Sixt several times by phone but received no assistance.
After waiting approximately 20 minutes, a staff member arrived and handed over the keys without conducting any vehicle inspection.
We personally inspected the car before driving away and found no damage. We didn’t check the roof because it was impossible to see the top of the car.
The vehicle was used normally for four days, with no accident, impact, or incident.
The car was returned on time and in good condition.
In addition to this unsubstantiated damage claim, I have also noted that £55 has been deducted from my account, identified as a “premium location fee.” This charge was not included in my rental agreement and was never disclosed or agreed to at the time of booking or vehicle collection.
The combination of:
claiming vehicle damage without proof, and
applying undisclosed additional charges after the rental
is unacceptable and does not reflect ethical or transparent business practice.
I therefore formally request that Sixt:
Withdraw the alleged damage claim unless clear, dated photographic evidence and inspection reports are provided showing the damage occurred during my rental period; and
Refund the £55 premium location fee immediately, as it was not part of the agreed rental contract.
Until proper evidence and justification are provided, I do not accept responsibility for the alleged damage or the additional charge.
I am raising this complaint to seek a fair, transparent, and documented resolution.
