bill payment
It is 2010 and I just opened up a Kohl's charge. When I went to pay my bill at the department store with my debit card, I was told that they cannot accept payments made with debit and that it could only be by check or cash. I do not carry cash with me so this is proving to be a big inconvenience. When I went to pay my bill online they want my routing number to make a payment from my checking. I do not have a checking account setup however just a debit account. So this too is ridiculous, Kohls needs to get it together. I have never seen a business more willing to accept a check over a debit/credit payment! If I had known it would be this difficult and frustrating to pay my bill with them I would have rethought my application for credit. Very disapointing.

kohl's cash
I went to this store on Valentine's Day and made purchases of about $177.00 on my Kohl's Charge. I received $30.00 in Kohl's Cash. The next day I had to return 2 items worth $62.00 since it did not fit me. When I went to the customer service counter to do the return with my receipt the cashier explained to me that this will reduce my Kohl's Cash unless I put the return on a Kohl's gift card or Merchandise Credit card is what they call it. So I said that it was okay. I could use my Kohls Cash from the 15th through the 24th I believe so I went back yesterday. When I was at the register, the cashier gave me 15% off my total and then applied my Kohls cash. First RIP OFF: The cash came off first and then took the 15% off which was applied prior. Then the lady tells me that I only had $10.00 remaining on my Kohls Cash. This is ABSURD: So I explained to her that I was told differently and thats why I used the gift card for return and not on my Kohls charge. Why would I select to pay interest on my credit card when I had the receipt for the return. So she calls the manager. Manager tells me that since the purchase was made on the 14th and its been a few days after she couldnt really do anything. ARE YOU SERIOUS? So I argued and told her everything all over again and she tells the cashier to give me the manual credit and then turns around to tell me that this is the 1st and the last time they would do something for me since they dont apply manual credits making me look stupid as if I was stealing. I am so done with this company! Something needs to be done!

I am agree with poster and "kohl's fraud" comments ", they want to fraud the government with their accounting, doule wammy if you understand." Yes when you return an item you have earned kohl's cash they will say to give up your real money. When you will say ok I am returning the item I have bought with kohl's cash so give me back my whole dollar amount I have spend they will say kohl's cash is not real money. Hey come on you just said that is real money we have given you so you have to pay us back now how come that was not real money. Important thing when you will return the item you have bought with kohl's cash there will not be any tax back but when you return an item you have earned Kohl's cash they will add tax to Kohl's cash. I have spend about half an hour on the phone and in store manager were agree with me I am right they are making mistake in refund amount but fro 13.20 dollars difference she asked me to call or write corporate office so they can issue me a check. She is not able to make correction to that mistake and this is our system wants us to work under these guidelines. I was just how come you guys are not talking about this issue? Why when I return an item I bought with kohl's cash no tax given to me. Where I have bought an item without any discount and at the end they give me 50 or 60 kohl's cash how come that 60 dollars being deducted from the actual price which ending up lower tax amount which is not true. I pay full amount of tax because kohl's cash is not discount for this item that was added after taxes but they don't want to understand they are making too much money. And I am surprised why non of the attorneys figured this out and never take a class action on behalf of consumers against Kohl's? I am attaching images to understand full story. Just cut the name and address for security reasons.
I'm having the same issue I purchased some Bras from Khol's via online at Khols.com I had to return them all they did not fit. I paid 384.11 they credited me only 309.36 and I had no Khol's Cash left but also did not credit me the whole amount. I called Khol's and they said its store policy, but I returned everything. I don't want Khol's Cash it expires before I can use it. Khol's Cash is worth nothing to me the money you charged my cc is real money, I had no balance and now I owe and have nothing this is so messed up. Its fake money like monopoly is.
How do they get away with this. I will never use my Khol's credit card to buy a thing in that store again I'll go to Amazon and they give 100 percent all of YOUR money Back.
People are forced to accept Kohls Cash whether they want it or not. You can't force people not to return items. People have the right to return anything they want. If Kohls don't want people to cheat on them, THEN DON'T ISSUE US "KOHLS CASH". They want people to come to their stores with this Kohls Cash scheme. They take the $$$ and if you return items, they deduct Kohls Cash amount off of your total purchase. hahahha...what a scam...We need to have a class action lawsuit for this. It's not legal to scam the public. We CAN and WILL return whatever the FACK we want! KOHLS CASH IS A SCAM. FRAUD THE CONSUMMERS and GOVERNMENT, TAX EVASION...store credits? LOL...please don't insult my intelligence KOHLS EMPLOYEES...you know it's fraud. they act like they have no clue what you are talking about they are too afraid to tell you or talk to you in fear they will get fired.
Kohl's has no corporate ethics:
Woman finds wallet at Kohl's and is falsely accused of stealing.
This happened to a Grandmother and her Grandsons at the Kohl's store in Fayetteville Ga.
Some people believe that if the grandmother had turned the wallet into Kohl's everything would have turned out ok. According to a Georgia Police Officer just the opposite is true.
The man who claims to be a seminary student and owner of the wallet made false reports to the police and the media, it is very doubtful that he would have recanted his story if the wallet had been turned in to kohl's.
This is why I have an issue with Kohl's loss prevention personnel. They saw the complete video, they knew that the woman did not remove money from the wallet and give it to her grandsons as reported in the media.
Kohl's has more than on video camera in their stores. Why didn't they show video of the grandmother and her grandsons inside the store? Why didn't Kohl's do the right thing?
Some people have been misinformed about the responsibility of someone who comes in contact with lost or mislaid property.
The grandmother did exactly what ever decent person should do when they find a wallet, she immediately began taking reasonable measures to restore the property to the owner. Neither Joseph Smith or Kohl's Department Store was the owner of the wallet or its contents.
Georgia Code - Crimes and Offenses - Title 16, Section 16-8-6
A person commits the offense of theft of lost or mislaid property when he comes into control of property that he knows or learns to have been lost or mislaid and appropriates the property to his own use without first taking reasonable measures to restore the property to the owner.
Kohl's cash is a big joke. They found a way to literally rip off the consumer. I paid $161.50 total. 1 item 19.20 the other 132.99 plus 9.31 sales tax. Gave my sister gift receipts for the 2 items. I did receive $30 in Kohl's cash but did not spend it since the items were going to be returned. 1 item received $15.41 the other $106.78 plus $7.47 sales tax for a total of $129.66. 129.66 plus 30 kohls cash is 159.66. I paid 161.50
If you get $30 Kohl's cash for a previous purchase use it to buy something as close to $30 as you can. Do a totally different transaction to buy anything else you might have to return so you don't have to worry about them taking a portion of the Kohl's cash off your return. I'm not trying to suggest that you should "get something for nothing" but when Kohl's uses their Kohl's cash as a marketing tool to get you to buy something (in fact, advertising that an item ends up being less with your Kohl's cash) then a customer should use the benefit of their "cash" in the most effective way.
I actually work at Kohl's and I see where your coming from but you get the Kohls cash for every 50$ you spend so lets say you made a purchase for 130 you get 30$ because it has to be before taxes. Now if your gonna return the half of it then its logical that they take it away from you cuz you didnt spend that money why would they give you kohls cash. And the manager was trying to let the other costumers know that we can't do that all the time so they dont take advantage of us.
People always expect free stuff, nothing in life is free, HELLO. People, just go to Kohl's as you normally would, purchase what you planned on, and pay what you wanted to pay. Then when you go back and spend your Kohl's cash, be happy that you got a small break in life. Then if you decide that you don't want the merchandise any longer and you return it, either return it and be at the same place as you were before, with no Kohl's cash, or put it on a merchandise card so you can buy something else at another time. No one is out to cheat someone. It is a neat way for Kohl's to get people to come shop at their stores. Hey, who blames them. I would lot's rather shop at a place that will reward me with $30.00 in merchandise the next week for me buying $150.00 of merchandise, than me just buying $150.00 of merchandise. They are not twisting anyone's arm. No one has to take the Kohl's cash.
You'll get the 60 back on a Merchandise Credit, to be spent in store. Once you've spent the Kohl's Cash, you can either lose the 60 dollars, or have the 60 to spend in the store at a later date. So long as you don't mind getting the money back in in-store credit, you won't lose anything.
I made a $200+ purchase and rec'd $60 Kohls cash. I used the Kohls cash to buy a vacuum using the entire $60 Kohls cash and an additional $30 of my own. But now some of the items I purchased did not work out and I would like to return a portion of my order, about $140. Will Kohls grant me the full return of $140 or will they deduct the $60 Kohls cash from my return ($140-$60=$80) ? Basically, what happens if you'd like to make a return after already using the Kohl's Cash. How will that effect your refund? And will the refund be in the same form (cc) or will I have to get mdse credit? Yes, I have the receipt and the transaction has been less than 30 days. Any thoughts?
All of you who say the Kohls Cash is a rip off are idiots. Kohls DOES NOT HAVE TO GIVE YOU THAT MONEY. They CHOOSE TO GIVE YOU THAT MONEY. It's FREE FRICKEN MONEY. They are not going to give you extra percent off the free money. And if some of you would read, it clearly states this on the back of the Kohls Cash.
Uh, hello? You returned items. You got your money back. Sure, you earned the Kohls Cash, but for only spending the money that you just made a return on. OF COURSE THEY'RE GOING TO TAKE YOUR KOHL'S CASH. Are you daft? Why would they let you keep it? That's like saying that if someone bought $1, 000 worth of items and returned them, they should get to keep their $200 Kohls cash. They're not going to give you free money for free.
As a side note, you can return anything you want to Kohls. However, how you get your money back depends on how you paid for it in the first place. Did you pay with a Kohls Charge or credit card? It's going back on your card. But if you paid for an item with Kohls Cash, gift card, or merch credit, you're getting merch credit. The end.
It's free money, and there really is no way to sue Kohls. They haven't done ANYTHING wrong. I'd love to see someone try to sue them, it would be way funny.
People really need to learn that life can't always go their way. There are rules and regulations for everything in life, and rarely is something given for free. If your life is so boring that you have to [censor] about Kohls Cash you need to find something to fill all that free time.
I agree with the topic poster. Kohls is scamming the buyers with their Kohls Cash policy. There shouldn't be a policy to begin with. We don't care if they issue us Kohls Cash or not. Just give us % off coupons if they or lower their prices. But no, they want to fraud the government with their accounting, doule wammy if you understand. LOL...please don't insult my intelligence KOHLS EMPLOYEES...you know it's fraud so shut the bleep up!
usurious late fee
Just in case anyone is tempted to apply for a Kohl's card to get a discount on merchandise, beware! My husband paid our $57.00 balance one day late, and their "normal" late fee is more than 50% of your balance. Their customer service operators confirm this "with a straight face"! I will certainly NEVER shop at a Kohl's store again. I have paid their ursurious fine and canceled my card.
I wish I had known what kind of a company I was dealing with. I hope I help someone else out there avoid this dishonest store.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I have sent a letter to the Collections Department explaining the situation. I have heard nothing back. I have emailed with customer service they keep referring me back to Collections. I get several harassing calls from the Collections Department every day. I explain the situation and ask about a reply to the letter I have sent and none of these callers has done a single thing except to say that on their records I owe late fees . These calls are a form of harassment meant to entice me to pay late fees I do not owe. The complete lack of response to my letter and requests to address my concerns about the late fees indicates that Kohl's is scamming people with false late fees and harassing calls. If you are an honest Kohl's employee you should be aware that your employer is engaging their employees to scam people, which makes the employee a part of illegal activities. Raise this with your employer and call your union.
Go away Kohl's Mascot A.K.A Bella777
I use to work for Kohls and the Kohls charge card is a bunch of ### and BTW Kohl's overprice their items just so you can apply for one and get the discount so you can feel like your saving a lot of money and to dirtycuban your just a minum wage worker don't treat a minum wage job like a career because you can go anywhere and make minum wage and believe it Kohls will turn on their employees in a heartbeat Kohls is a dishonest and unloyal company
"supposed, " not "supressed" (spellcheck errror)
Seriously no one has to shop at KOHL'S either. I can take my money and spend it ANYWHERE I want. KOHL'S credit card is a whole bunch of bull. The only reason people get it is for the silly little discounts KOHL'S advertises, which, when you analyze the millions of angry consumer complaints against KOHLS credit for their fraudulent and usurious behevaior, KOHLS department store should be going out of business soon. Consumers DON'T have to be treated like garbage. We don't owe your company OUR business. Your little credit card discount incentives are not a genuine Visa/Mastercard/American Express-- they're suppressed to be building BRAND LOYALTY/STORE LOYALTY, not pushing customers away. I have cards for other department store and boutiques who know how to treat their customers like gold and not swine. Get over yourselves. YOU are not a bank.
The credit card phone center employees have the SAME attitude the defensive "friendly neighborhood Kohl's employee" has here. This is absolute usury of the public. Even though my January minimum payment was only $15, I overpaid by $50 for my $100 bill in January, and was STILL hit with a $16 late fee in February when I missed my February 1st payment date. The phone center employees and managers acted as if EVERYONE on the planet lives off of credit card and should have their special "monthly payment credit rules" memorized. I spent thousands of dollars a year at Kohl's before. I will NEVER shop at Kohl's again. BOYCOTT KOHL'S AND EVERY BUSINESS LIKE THEM.
Let's see...
1. You're taking my name seriously? It's a god damn screen name. It could be anything, ex. "iheartpuppies21", "roflcopterman", or "jesus666". ANYTHING. It doesn't matter, and that being said, I ask you "What's in a name?"
2. I'm not unemployed. I actually still work for Kohl's as a cashier/customer service/wherever they want to put me on any given day. You name a department, and I've worked in it.
3. Is customer retention important? Yes, it most certainly is...i never said it wasn't. What i said was that we need customers with brains (You know, that gray matter that should reside inside your skull?). Whenever you apply for a credit card, read everything on the sheet you are signing, ask questions, do what you need to do to understand it all. Signing blindly leads to the above situation.
4. Countless isn't countless. She probably told a few people, who most likely didn't care enough to pass on the message. It's not like Kohl's killed her dog; we simply charged her a late fee. ALL CREDIT CARDS HAVE LATE FEES. Welcome to real life :)
Sincerely,
Your Friendly Neighborhood Kohl's Employee
First of all "dirtycuban1211" I doubt you can do math let alone work a register, you are probably a dead beat unemployed loser. Get a life. Second of all your "$57 is nothing in the grand scheme of things." quote is completely WRONG, it couldn't matter more. Customer retention is one of THE biggest reasons companies fail. She has no doubt told countless people about how BAD Kohl's is... You sir have no idea what you are talking about, hence your handle of "dirtycuban"
Um...that's not dishonest. You knew getting into the card that there were terms and conditions. Kohl's is not to be held responsible for your lack of ability to read them, or your lack of ability to pay on time. No one likes late fees, but they're there for a reason.
Well then...
1. Don't pay your charge late, perhaps? It's your fault the money didn't get to us in time. Your fault alone.
2. Yes, there are late fees. And late fees suck. Welcome to real life. Credit card companies will charge you late fees, and they are always pretty high. Refer to comment 1 to resolve this issue.
3. I'm glad to see that due to your own mistake, you are "never shopping in kohl's again". Good, we don't need you. $57 is nothing in the grand scheme of things. And I certainly prefer customer's with brains.
Sincerely,
Your Friendly Neighborhood Kohl's Employee
payments online
I complete 98% of my recurring financial transactions online so I consider myself computer literate in this respect. Have done so in the past 20 years. No problems. I have just burned an hour or so re-visiting the online account. Try a 'Search' for Online Payment or any relevant term. The site is so overtly geared togenerating revenue that the search results take you to 'Information...' on various credit cards accepted by the store; just anything other than what is relevant. Even the home page carries an empty 'Shopping Cart' dangling in your face: the Cart is empty and waiting for 'Checkout'! Perhaps, another way to throw the customer off on a tangent. The whole site is convoluted and slanted away from the customer.
No wonder you hear them tout their Charge card every 2 minutes while browsing the store. Charge it. Then pay late payment penalties for computer glitches.

accused of shoplifting
Curious to see how many others have been harassed by Kohl's?! I went into Kohl's to return a bracelet to the fine jewelry department. I had returned a few other items (all which needed to be defectected out and all from fine jewelry) and when I left the security sensors went off. I was patted down and they went through my purse and accused me of shoplifting and returning stolen goods. (a note; the Daisy Fuentes long sweater I bought three weeks prior had a sewn in sensor which I did not know about and had made many store sensors go off, CVS, Wal Mart, Etc...had no idea that was sewn inside the sweater...near the bottom) Anyways, I started returning several pieces of jewelry because of their ### quality (and high prices). I did not have receipts because I had planned on keeping originally and until the stones fell out and/or turned black, the bracelet broke, I took it to the jeweler to fix and it broke again. Therefore, it really angered me and I took items back. Now they are accussing me of returning stolen merchandise (because I had no receipts and return several items I had bought over the past 2 years...their return says "easy returns, no questions asked...etc!) Now, I am told I am under investigation?! They did search me (and found nothing of course) and took my picture and told me I was not to return to Kohl's or I'd be charged with trespassing. I am extremely angered that 1. I was accused of something I did not do; 2. I feel that now I have to defend myself (and when you've paid cash for a lot of items how do I prove I bought it!) I will NEVER buy another item from Kohl's (which will save me approximately $400/month probably!) Buyers use caution with this store!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I also had a similar situation and would be interested in speaking with anyone from this forum who has been falsely accused of stealing from kohl's. Please feel free to contact me at meganbrigid23@gmail.com. I am gathering info regarding this travesty at a place that used to be considered my favorite store... So sad.
hello help. i have a kohls merchandise card for 129.00 and kohls tells me that its no good. they used the word cancelled. how can you cancell a card when the balance of 129.00 is still on it beacause its never been used.. by the way a store merchandise card at kohls can never espire. what are my rights? and what is the smartest way to go about this? anyone out their that can help me?
I agree to never allow anyone to touch you. I was falsely accosted by loss-prevention outside the store. I called police while the teen-looking LP pretended to call someone. I described where I would be waiting with my children and that I refused to re-enter the store or allow myself and children to be subjected. The LP specifically yelled at me that she had camera surveillance of ME shoplifting. Then it turned to an associate, not her, witnessed me shoplift, then it was an associate saw me enter the fitting with merchandise, exit without anything and there was no merchandise left in the fitting room. Upon the arrival of the police, we all re-entered my fitting room and all items were still there. I admit that I didn't place the items back on the rack but I was tired and so were my children. But the items were there...no one had checked the fitting room. I was just singled out...I'm in my 40's, dressed in a blouse with kohl's pants and shoes. I'm a mom that shops at this Kohl's several times a month. I'll never return again and I taught my children several valuable lessons about the world we live in, one of which was that we have a right to refuse to be unreasonably searched. I advised the police that if asked, I'd let him search my purse only but not my person. He was on the Kohl's employee side although they both apologize when they realized that everything Amber Pope, Kohl's Stockbridge accused me of what an absolute lie. I'm glad I didn't subject my family to a search or re-enter the store with Amber Pope, teen-toy cop!
WOW. I'm sorry, if your story is true...
They are not the POLICE! If you ALLOWED them to PAT. YOU. DOWN?!?!?!?!? PLUS, search your bag?!?!?!? They CAN NOT TOUCH YOU, OR LOOK THROUGH YOUR BAG. WHY WOULD YOU LET THEM TOUCH YOU? You know you can sue them? Think about it, look into your rights. They are not police officers, they work WITH the police, but they are not able to touch you. Stupid woman, you probably like that stuff... No, really, and I rarely get harsh but never EVER allow a loss prevention, security guard, toy cop touch you, understand me? NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO PAT YOU DOWN BUT LAW ENFORCEMENT AND YOUR TRUSTED FAMILY PHYSICIAN, and a lover, but really, ma'am, really? Thats your real problem here, because its not Kohl's fault. REALLY.
I'm glad you won't be shopping at kohl's anymore. We don't like having thieves in there. =D
kohl's card
I applied for a Kohl's Credit Card instore at the Kohl's in Spring Hill, TN at the customer service desk almost SEVEN WEEKS ago. I called the 1-800 for Kohl's about 4 weeks into waiting and the representative said I probably would be receiving it in about 1 week. Three more weeks have past and still NO CARD. So, I called today and the foreign gentleman informed me that they had a different address listed for me and it HAD been sent out. I told him they had the WRONG address and he is suppose to be closing the account, which was mailed out and mailing me another one...guess what? That means 3 more weeks for me to wait! I am very disappointed. I called the Spring Hill store and talked to the store manager. Bob told me that they have no control over "rushing" me the card. He was not helpful at all! Also, if you want to pay your balance at the store, they have "no idea" what the balance is and you have to use their phone to get that information. I know their slogan is "Kohl's...expect great things" but don't expect great things coming from the customer service!

Wow, all of this is amusing.
Why would you waste your time degrading a billion dollar corporation that has over a 1, 000 stores in the Unites States (in every state but Hawaii)? I think that is truly a waste of time.
Its good that the Kohl's employee does not have acess to your personal account information. Yes, it will inconvenience you that they cannot access your information immediately but it is for your protection and safety. It does not take long for you yourself to acces your account balace online, on the phone, or bring your statement from the mail with you to make your payment.
You can still pick an amount and pay cash or check at any register at any Kohl's store across america. You can also pay online at kohls.com.
This is a billion dollar company, truly, THE PEOPLE MAKE THE STORE.
Lol. If you really think that this is an attempt at being professional, then you are completely ###ed. Regardless...
1. Yes, you can use a Kohl's charge without a driver's license. Never said you couldn't. But when I perform an "Account Lookup", it will automatically ask for your driver's license number. I can't get around that. Now, yes, I could lie to the computer and type in anything, but I'd rather not, quite frankly. Just carry your driver's license with you, like a normal person.
2. Feel free to come to Kohl's and "beat the fire" out of me. I welcome it. It would be amusing. Basically, if I lose, you go to jail for assault, and my mind and voice remain the same. If I win, then you still go to jail for assault, and since I won't be the one throwing the first punch, I can write it off as an act of self defense. And again, my mind and voice will still stay unchanged. Either way, it would give me a great story.
3. Yes, there is a number on the back of the card that customers can call to access information in regards to their account. But no, we don't call that number to access your information. That is why there is a phone for customer use back in customer service. That's your job. If I took the time to call for everyone that asks for their account information, then nothing would get done in customer service.
4. ### you.
Sincerely,
Your Friendly Neighborhood Kohl's Employee :)
dirty cuban? so profesional! i will call ### on you. you can use a kohls card with out a drivers license... just type in random numbers. dumb ###... if i ever met you i would beat the fire out of you cocky mother###er. you can access that information... by phone. there is a number on the back of the card. you play dumb they will still help you if you "forget you social"
Okay...here we go...
1. You don't need to have the card to use it. Simply type in your social security number at the register and present the cashier with your drivers license. Not having your card does not mean that you can't use it.
2. Bob the Store Manager does not in any way, shape, or form, have any ability to get you your card faster. He is not the one getting you the card in the first place. The Kohl's Corporate Headquarters is the place that is sending you your card. There is no way that he would be able to put it on rush delivery.
3. We cannot access any information regarding your Kohl's Charge. All we can do is check to see if you have one and open a new charge card if you don't. We have no way of accessing any information off of your card for security purposes. If we had access to any one part of your card, we could then get information from it, considering your card is linked to your name, address, phone number, and social security number. Unless you enjoy identity theft, it's best that we can't access that information.
4. Our customer service is actually pretty excellent. We can do almost anything for you, as long as you give us something to work with. It seems that only when we ask you to do something small do you get upset that we can't help. So, quite frankly, you can shove it.
Sincerely.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Kohl's Employee
faulty cash register, results in them violating their own return policy!
My husband bought me a beautiful braclet for Christmas this year. Unfortunately is was not very practical for me, since I could not wear it to work without something happening to it. So he agreed we would take it back.
We went into Kohl's with the original receipt, which my husband used our bank card for. When we returned the bracelet we were told by the sales girl and the manager both since he did not use his bank pin number, they could only credit our bank account the money and not give us cash. (Even though the back of the receipt clearly states all bank card returns would result in a cash refund.) At this point my husband told them the pin pad was broken the day he made the purchased, to which they both replied "ya, its been broken for awhile".
I fail to see how their broken equipment translates to us not getting our cash refund, as promised. Not to mention the fact that when he purchased the braclet, the money was taken from our account right away. Now we have to wait 2-3 buisness days for it to show back up in our account. Way to go Kohl's, you got us good but never again!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Sounds to me like you wanted cash to buy some crack or something. I seriously doubt your husband knew anything about it.
on the receipt is says you get cash for bankcard transaction which is when you pay with debit.
Oh my god, what a friggin' nightmare!
Honestly? This is really a complaint? You still got the return, didn't you? It still went through, didn't it? Everything is perfectly fine? Thought so...
Look, equipment breaks. It takes the store a long time to replace it, if ever. It sucks, i know. But please, remember, we have a signed legal document saying that you agree to all terms for purchases and returns when you signed for your card. You accepted the fact that, if returned, the money would take 2-3 days to get back to you.
Also, Kohl's is not to blame for not getting you your money faster. Blame your bank. I've returned things through credit cards and had the money in the bank on the same day. I don't know who you are using, but consider switching to someplace better.
Sincerely,
Your Friendly Neighborhood Kohl's Employee
hidden fees
I just returned 3 items to Kohl's for either an even exchange or if not available, a different item. I was told to take my items to the customer service desk and I would be either given store credit or credit on my charge card. I only wanted to exchange the items as they were the wrong size. I was told that I would be given a store credit and then could purchase the items I needed. What wasn't explained ot told to me was that I was being charged a 15% tranaction fee for each item returned or exchanged. I did not find this out until I checked out. The 15% transaction amounted to the cost of 1 item. No where in the store, online or anywhere else has Kohl's stated they are charging a fee.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I'm going to safely assume that the "Transafction Fee" you are talking about is really a "Transaction Discount" This, roughly translated, means "Coupon". If you used one to purchase the items initially, then when you return them, the discount gets taken off, showing the exact amount that you paid. In terms you can understand, if you buy a ten dollar item with a 15% coupon, the return amount you get is 8.50, which is the exact amount the you would have wound up paying. If i'm right, please smack yourself in the head. I'm too far away to reach.
Sincerely,
Your Friendly Neighborhood, Kohl's Employee
overzealus security practices
I do not know if it is common practice of all Kohl’s, but I will never return to another. About three months ago, we went into the Kohl’s in Cleveland. At the time, we were looking for some clothing for our little girl. After about 5 minutes of being in there, we started noticing that every department we walked through, they called on the speakers to scan...
Read full review of Kohl's and 18 commentssexual harassment
Kohl's treats it's customers better then it's employees. Human resources think it's ok to use sexual harassment in their talks with employees. I find many flaws with their the customer is always right. No matter what thinking.
I worked at Store Number 5280 in Shakopee. I was given 18 hours a week. After coming back from a horrible accident and being treated like worthless baggage. I see noreason to buy their expensive items when I could get the same thing at Target.

There is no such store number! I AGREE!
There is no such store number! It's obvious that you never worked for the company so you should avoid wasting your time posting frivolous complaints
the most harrowing experience I ever had
Shopping at Kohls.com has been the most harrowing experience I have had with any retailer's website and customer service. It started with Black Friday when the website shut down...guess do to over abundance of shoppers. I never did get all I had set out to order. Went to Penneys site instead. But that is not the worst of it. I have been trying to order more from for 3 days. Now says I am locked out cause of too many failed attempts! Duh! Guess who's fault that is? So I have been trying to call them for 2 days...and all I can get is...We have an overabundance of callers. Please call back, Goodbye. Not even an option to hold. No way will I ever shop online with them again and the way I see they feel about their customers probably won't even shop in the stores.

I ordered two sweaters from Kohl's.com for Christmas. Several days after they arrived, I realized that one of them had a plastic anti-theft tag attached. I contacted the company via email, requesting a new one be sent to me immediately and explaining that I had thrown away the packing slip, as I had intended to keep the items. I was told that I could go to a Kohl's store to have the tag removed (this was after I explained that the nearest store is two hours away!). I was then told that I would have to wait to return the item, have the money put back on my credit card, then I could place a NEW order, and email them back with the info. so they could take off shipping charges (oh, and "sorry for the inconvenience"). No thanks! Over the past three plus weeks, I have been emailing them (each time responded to by a DIFFERENT customer service rep, so I have to explain everything all over again), and now finally received an email that they scheduled a UPS pickup. The best part? They instructed me to put the packing slip in the box (the one I don't have!).
"Expect Great Things"? Ha!
I don't know who's in charge of the hiring practices at the Kohls in Havertown, PA, but my family will never shop there again. Apparently it's alright with them to have staff members ogle young women such as my daughter who's barely 16 at their customer service counter. In this case the young man we'll call "Will" since it's not far off from his actual name continued to stare at my daughter's chest even after my wife who was shopping with her at the time turned to him with an anger in her eyes. See my wife angry once and you'll understand. If this is the best they can do for staff I'll take our business elsewhere.
Don't count on Kohl's for actual delivery. I purchased a bunch of things a few weeks ago with their 30% off special one day sale. They sent me an order confirmation and then a shipping confirmation, with a tracking number. A week later, the tracking still didn't show a delivery date. So I called, was on hold for almost 40 minutes, only to be told there was a problem at UPS with the shipping address, Lie!, and that it was coming next week. Today almost 3 weeks later I get an email showing another tracking number and only a couple of the items originally ordered and confirmed, without the discount charged to my card. So be careful, and don't believe a thing the CS reps tell you, if you can hold for 40 minutes to talk to them.
Also, I called the manufacturer of the biggest items ordered and was told and got email documentation that Kohl’s was showing a retail price 33% above the MSRP. So their so called sale price wasn't much of a sale at all. So again, be very careful in dealing with Kohl’s, they are not the retailer they used to be years ago. Sorry to rant, I just hate being lied to and dealing with dishonest businesses.
What do they say on the loudspeaker in the store? Something about wanting your shopping experience to be great, and the will strive to help you achieve that. HA HA!
Well apparently the store Manager, Carla Evans at the Fairview Heights, IL store doesn't realize where exactly her pay check comes from.
I have NEVER in my life been treated so poorly by a STORE MANAGER at any retail store in my life. I find it hard to believe she is at that level of management. With all the people out of work and looking for work, I would think they ( Kohl's ) could find someone better suited for the job.
If you have any issue with that store, I suggest you try talkin to the store manager to resolve it. She isn't interested in customer service at all.
I lost my job in December last year and had an $85.00 a month cc payment to Kohl's I called them and told them the situation and they offered to lower my payment for 6 months on a payment arrangement. THEIR idea and said this was my savour no harm no foul and don't worry about the amout showing still due on my bill that will straightened itself out later. Oh yea it did. They have reported me late to the credit bureau the last 4 months now showing over 60 days and has dropped my credit score over 50 points. I have called them twice and been told they are doing NOTHING wrong. WHATEVER why don't you tell someone that's what's gonna happen with your miracle idea of "helping" someone out. I have shopped here for years and loved this store, but you know what I will never set foot in this [censored]hole again. They are rude and uncooperative in solving the issues they haved caused. I told them I am going to loose my home over this deal that I was trying to refi and that didn't phase them a bit. Talk about ###s! And then I see Chase runs their Credit cards. They are even bigger ###s then Kohl's. STAY AWAY from their CC's please!
Kohl's only accepts their own credit card at checkout whenever they advertise promotional discounts of up to 30% off your total bill at checkout. If a customer only wants to pay by cash or use one of their other major credit cards, rather than the Kohl's card, they are denied these discounts. I personally feel that this is unfair. For a major department store such as Kohl's, they should give their customers the option to use whatever credit card they choose, or pay by cash in order to take advantage of their special discounts. This also holds true for their specials advertised on 'Senior Days'.
I received a flayer with my bill which offer $ 10.00 ( sent in a email to your email add.)if you go green and sign up for paperless statement.so I did just that, and waited and waited and when nothing came, I called customer service who promised to send an email to a supervisor.
In a few days I received a $ 5.00 for submitting my email, then nothing, I did not even bothered to print or cash it since if they are going to nickel and dime me, let them keep their $10 and I will keep my money to spend somewhere else where people are honest and keep their word.
I was there looking for a style of shirt that my friend had bought there the day before, and I made the mistake of asking this employee for help locating the shirt. She didn't even bother to stop sorting clothes to look at me. She just told me that if I couldn't find it then they didn't have it. I told her that my friend had just bought it the day before, I just didn't know what section it was in. She completely ignored me, and when I repeated what I said she turned and glared at me and said she didn't know, then continued to ignore me. I came back a couple days later and my friend showed me where the shirts were, but they were up high so I went to ask an employee to take it down for me. It was the same girl, and she had her cell phone out and was texting with it partially hidden in a rack of clothes. I asked her to take the shirt down and she quickly hid the cell phone in her pocket and went to take the shirt down. Later I came out of the changing room with the shirt on and the same employee was whispering to another employee and she pointed at me and they both started laughing.
I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but this happened two times in a row, and a couple other people that I have spoken to have had similar experiences with the same employee, "Brittany".
I have notified the Kohl's customer service department and I hope to hear back soon from them. I hope that steps will be taken to ensure that this employee is not permitted to continue with this kind of behavior.
I recently switched from paper billing to Email. Not really thinking about it, I put in my Email address. Well, I don't pay the bills, my husband takes care fo that each month. So, he didn't realize there was a bill, I don't get any personal Emails so I didn't check it...THREE months later, I get a computerized call re: my account.
I had no idea what it could be about, so I called. I had a late balance due. So, I paid it. In full. Including late fees, and I apologized for being late.
Fast forward a few weeks, we're looking into refinancing our home and come to find out, my good credit score is now a bad credit score. All because of the Kohl's issue!
I called the credit card phone number, explained my situation, was talked down to, but I took it in stride and was told I would be contacted BY PHONE within 48hrs. Two days later, after not recieving a phone call, I called back and was told a letter has been sent out saying it was not Kohl's fault and they will not correct my credit score.
I tried explaining that I knew it wasn't their fault, that I took full responsibility, but that I would like to talk to someone.
I was denied the opportunity to talk to someone in that department or a supervisor.
I cancelled my card before ending my call and I will NEVER step foot in a Kohl's store again.
I purchased a gift card in the amount of 200.00 for my granddaughter-in-law & found out that they are in the process of divorce. I tried to get my money back & they would only take it for merchandise, so I bought my mom a George Foreman, only to find out that she didn't like it & there is no Kohl's store where she lives, It was tehn again I found out that my gift card was worthless, they would only give me another gift card.
So as far as I can tell, I am out 200.00
Don't anyone buy a gift card-they are useless. That is not the only experience I have heard of about gift cards.
shocking surprise
I bought my mother a $75 gift certificate so she could buy herself a new coat for Christmas. Since she lives in a different state, I bought her one that could be sent to her via email. Upon recieving the gift certificate, she printed it out and went to the local Kohl's where she lives. After picking out a coat she liked, she was told that since she had recieved an e-certificate that she must make her purchase online. She proceeded to log onto Kohl's.com, picked out a coat, but when she tried to check out was told that her gift certificate was invalid. She tried several more times to make her purchase but recieved the same message and eventually gave up. After recieving this information by phone call from her, I proceeded to call Kohl's customer service dept and was told that I needed to call the gift card dept. When I called that dept I got a voicemail, left a message but after several days was not called back. Long story short, after placing several calls and leaving several messages I finally spoke to a lady who said she would call me back when the issue was resolved. This was over 2 months ago and apparently they just blew me off. So thank you Kohl's for scamming me out of $75 and leaving my mother in the cold without a new coat.

The gift cards are the same for all stores. You could have sent an actual card by mail and not have had this problem. I'm not trying to be mean it's just for future reference.
bad management
I went in to kohls and a manager was real rude to me.I ts like she didn't what to wait on me it's real hard to find good help in that store.I'm just going to give up shopping there. They need to get rid of her as a manager and get someone who can help.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
You must of been shopping in Kingsport Tennessee! Managers there are rude and impolite. They cuss on the sales floor And are rude to their own employees!
Imagine that. A cheap store. A cheap customer. And cheap customer service. Who would have thought!
no bathroom breaks when needed
I'm a seasonal employee and Kohl's managers will not give us much needed breaks. I have worked five hours without a break after repeatedly asking for a bathroom break. It is a OSHA regulation that we get bathroom breaks whenever they are needed...see OSHA 29 CFRToilet facilities .1910.141.(c)(1)...I signed off the register and told the manager I had to take a bathroom break; she pointed her finger at me and told me to get back on that register because we had customers, even though there were two other registers still open. This is the conditions we have to work in because of the economy. Employers think they can pay minimum wage and treat employees any way they please. I would quit, but my family needs the money, though it is little. They also only give employees 11-12 hours a week. The only full time help is management positions.
Please be kind to your cashier.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Look in your break room for a poster that indicates how many breaks you get by the amount of hours you work. im not saying that its correct that you stay for more than four hrs without a break but check that out because that varies by state and nowhere it says you get unlimited amount of bathroom breaks, that would be ridiculous.
this is for florida
6hrs - 15 paid minutes
6>7.5 hrs - 20 minutes
7.5>8hrs- 15 (p), 30(unpaid)
8>9 hrs - 15(p), 30(up), 15(p)
>9 hrs - 15(p), 1hr(up), 15(p)
* minors get 30 (up) if work more than 4 hrs
ohh and the first break should start around 2 hrs after you get there and if you have more than 1 break then they are every 2hrs more or less.
now remember thats in FL so find out where you live.
if you got any questions as your e3 and if your afraid let me know, ill check whats the regulations are at the kohls where you work.
your body is actually supose to be expelling liquid waste every 45 minutes... maybe you should see your doctor.
did not receive my rewards and rudeness from a manager
I purchased some clothes at Kohl's when they were having their sales this week(11-15 last date of sale). the sale was to take an extra 30%, 20%, or 15% off everything, plus spend $50 and receive $10 kohl's cash. So my subtotal was 51.98 they gave me the 15% off but I forgot to ask for my $10 kohl's cash. So the next day I called and they absolutely refused to give me the $10 Kohl's cash. They said I will not get both and they are NOT going to reward me for this. The manager was very rude. Finally I said, nevermind I will just return my stuff and Kohl's lost a custumer. The manager replied, that was just fine by her! Appearently they do not care about their customers.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
People. The discount is kohl's cash and it is not active until a later date AFTER the purchase. It sounds like to me, you insisted that you recieve the 10 dollars on the same purchase. And like the guy said above. You have to SPEND before tax 50 dollars to recieve 10 dollars in kohl's cash. So first the misunderstanding on your part is that you could use it on the purchase that day.
So not only did you want the kohl's cashe being about 10 dollars short of 50 dollars. YOu ALSO wanted her to lose his/her job by giving you an unjustified discount. The company views this as employee thieft.
Why not next time, just ask them to open the register and give you 10 dollars.
In any case, to defend the customer, you CAN activate kohls cash after the fact. I know this because I am a supervisor.
There is a customer service screen on the main menu of the register program. Under it says, "Activate kohl's cash". You scan the reciept and it asks you to give an amount of the kohl's cash.
I would have asked you to go purchase something else to bring your total up. Made copies of your original reciept and the newer item and then activated your 10 dollars kohl's cash.
I would have stapled the original reciepts together and wrote and explaination on it.
Remember, in order to do this, you NEED the blank unused kohl's cash from that event. If it was after the event, then there is no way to do it because the kohls cash is thrown away when the sale ends. But it sounds like it was before.
if u are entilted to kohl's cash it will come up on the register, so the associate did not forget to give u the kohls cash. u have to scan the kohls cash put in register so it prints up the $ amount, then your receipt comes out. so i think u are one of those customers who like to ### and complane
...Do the math. This is because the Kohl's Cash is offered for every $50 you spend, PRE-TAX and PRE-DISCOUNT. If your total was 51.98 pre-discount, and your discount was 15%, that means that your total was actually $44.18, which is less than $50. Moreover, the cash register is VERY insistent that the cashier provide the Kohl's Cash if it is earned, and will not let the cashier proceed without doing so. Pay more attention next time and don't be such a brat.
sexual harassment
On November 7 2009, I was trying on clothes in the Juniors area fitting room when I heard a young man speaking another language, possibly Russian, talking from what sounded to be extremely close and above me. I looked up to the right and saw a young man looking over my dressing room wall from the room next to mine. When he saw me look up, he jumped down and ran out into the common area. As I dressed myself, I walked out to find the boy standing there with two women, an older woman and a younger girl, around the age of 18. The boy ran out and I followed him asking if anyone outside of the dressing rooms worked there. They all said no but that an associate had just walked away. The boy continued to walk through the Juniors area where he then turned into an isle and continued at a brisk/running pace to the back of the store. I found the first associate and asked them to please call security and told them what happened. The associate and I both saw the boy and could describe everything about him, what he was wearing, his height, hair color and that he was about 16 years old. I showed the associates three times the two women who he was with also. LP was then called and I was escorted over to their office where I had assumed action would take place in catching this teen boy, instead, the LP got on a phone with a manager and talked for about 20 seconds when he put the phone down and looked at me and said "I mean, what do you really want us to do about this? There is nothing we can do." Visibly shaken and extremely upset, I gave up on the loyalty of this store that I once considered to be the first place I would go for shopping, I looked at the LP and said I was going home, leaving behind the merchandise I was about to purchase.
It is scary, unfortunate and very discouraging to know that a store would do nothing about a situation of this manner. It makes me extremely nervous to wonder what they would do had this situation escalated to assault.
This was sexual harassment that occurred in a store known by many to be a safe and good place to shop, however, there was nothing done to prove this.
I'm ashamed for this store to pride themselves on customer service because they lacked that completely. I will be sure to NEVER set foot into another Kohls, and will be sure that none of the people I know will either.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
That is terrible. I would call corporate and insist that they have actual security guards at their stores. LP is not allowed to restrain people, only to call the police.
That's awful! :( I wouldn't be able to set foot in another Kohl's either ... I'd be utterly disgusted.
vent about being treated unfair
I am a current associate at kohls.. The pay sucks like hell and lately i have been hearing that some of the workers are making more than others.. But here is the thing a lot of those workers are also family members to the to bosses and supervisor's talking about an unfair work environment... Today i left work crying and scared my boss had scorned me because he said i rolled my eyes while me and him were having a conversation five minutes before he came in to do so.. when i told him i do not recall doing that he called me a liar and told me he saw what he saw.. Im only human and i didn't know that i wasn't allowed to make facial expressions. he told me if i did it again he would fire me.. he also added that my attitude sucked and informed me that a few others didn't really care for me. lately i been having a lot on my mind so im very to my self because of what i just found out about my health which is not good news so all i can do is think about my situation. i explained to him i come to work to provide excellent customer service and to do my job and that's it.. i informed him that i don't really talk to others because im not one to gossip while i work he told me i was making my case worse because that's basically telling him im not a friendly person.. I dont know what to do any more when i apologized for what ever he felt i did wrong he laughed in my face i ask what was funny he said me.. i told him if i was to do the same to him i would be fired and he replied yes u would.. he also told me i was doing a ### job at work and he don't see any productivity from me.. which i find funny and hard to believe because 2 days ago one of the other supervisor rewarded me with a gift for working hard and being a team player.. im confused and don't know what to do any more im sure i will be fired and i have no idea why.. im young and really do not know my rights so i feel stuck all i can do is pray that i don't lose my job kiss my boss ### so that way i can continue to feed my baby..

Call the Respect hotline. it should be posted in the breakroom. I not ask LP for it.
I have a problem with Kohl's allowing men into the girls changing room. There are alot of pedophiles in the store's neighborhood, and I feel like Kohl's lax dressing room policy is going to be paid by these girls. Kohl's Cares for Kids does not apply with children's dressing room. If we don't protect our kids, who will?
I actually like working at Kohl's and even make more money than you. Maybe your bad attitude has something to do with it. Just saying...
Don't Whine! Organize!
i work at kohls and i have never had such a ### job in my life. for the pay is it worth it? hell no. the highest pay i could recieve is 7.50 and hrs. my last job i started at 9.50. these people are ###s. i can't afford college. they don't care about your time your life. i worked there six months and they still don't know my name what the ###! i cannont stand the people that work there all they do is complain about the hrs they have and all the hard work they do... bs they put clothes back were they belong i do that all day long a few times thats not ###. i actually had to work before i came there. i hate kohls. never work there i swear its not what it looks like. i thought i would absolutly love it.
Your boss sounds like a ###. You have one of two options. Write down every single time he makes you feel like crap. Write down everything he says and does during these instances. Compile this in a private place and do not tell anyone you are keeping these records. After it happens 3 or 4 times, call human resources and tell them you would like to file a complaint against your boss. If he retalitates against you, he will be fired, so don't worry about that. Give HR all the information you have compiled. Maybe something will happen. In the meantime, make sure you are actually doing your job and not being a lazy ###.
The 2nd option is to quit and go find another job. There are plenty of low paying jobs just like the one you have out there.
I work for Kohls and I'm trying my hardest to get out I dint know whose in charge anymore the manager doesn't know what the #### he's doing I get called on the rug for stupid #### he in the recent past has winked at me when talking to me he made a former employee cry we have a new E3 and I really wonder whose running things she bases things on her past management experience he just stands there god help me
credit applications
It annoys me that in my local Kohls there is no one on the sales floor working other than the cashiers and there are areas that have been totally destroyed and need to be straightened up but instead the focus on announcing how many credit apps they need on the intercom systems. To make matters worse, now they have employed people to walk around and harrass you about getting a kohls charge. I was approached by the same woman 3 times in 20 minutes and each time she argued with me, telling me I needed a kohls charge so i could get additional savings. I was so irritated I just went and checked out, and was again harrassed by the cashier who tried talking me into a kohls charge...and when i said no I was treated rudely and my items were just thrown in the bag.
Kohls should be more appreciative of their cash paying customers, but I guess they are just dying to charge mindless credit seeking idiots interest.

Can anyone provide me with in detail description on how to get a credit? My training was cut short and has not been resumed. Can anyone help?
While shopping in one of your stores the other day I purchased a pair of sneakers. I also wanted to purchase some Keurig coffee. Much to my surprise you had only a few no variety at all . Not one decaf I proceeded to order about $100 on line still didn't have the one I really wanted. I went to go out two days later went to put on my new sneakers to find out that the security tag was still attached. Now had to go back to the store to have the tag removed. It was done right away but the clerk acted like I did something wrong. I was very annoyed at her! I know that things happen and an apology would have been appreciated. I feel I do a lot of business with your company and would hate to have to stop . Thank you for your attention in this matter Margaret Holley @ Bah202@optonline.net
Okay, Listen up and I will tell you what is going on.
You went there to buy cheap stuff right.
The store doesn't have any employees to straighten up or help you cause, "OH SHOCK!" They are CHEAP, lol!
Did you know, that if you go to bloomingdales where you can buy 100 dollar t-shirts, you can call ahead for an appointment with a personal shopper?
No really. The company has cut labor so hard, that that one person you were looking to help you and to straighten up the department, were the ones on the register.
I am not joking. Where do you think that person comes from when you hear over the speaker, "Additional assistance needed at misses registers"
The CEO at kohls is making a killing selling sweatshop clothes to the customer with beer pockets and champaign taste.
PEOPLE DO NOT SHOP AT KOHLS PLEASE PUT THIS HORRIBLE COMPANY OUT OF ITS MISERY!
I work at Kohl's in the Bay Area. When I walked into the break room the other day, there was a flyer asking employees if they wanted their job. Further down the paper, it read that (Kohl's) is no longer expecting the minimum of 0-5 credits a month. Whoever doesn't meet the requirement of 1 credit within 8 shifts will result in separation! Next to that paper was another paper that read that the store I'm working at signed up for a competition in seeing which Kohl's can get the most credits. Hmmm... I wonder if those two are connected? DUH! What Kohl's doesn't understand is that a lot of people who already shop at their stores already have a credit card, and everyone else most likely doesn't want one! I work on the sales floor in the children's department and they say that I need to get 1 credit a shift. What am I supposed to do? Follow them around the store and harass them about it?! Plus, how is it possible to get credits when employees on the sales floor are too busy trying to keep the store clean? If I'm going to be fired for being a hard working person who is trying to make a living, Kohl's is one uncaring company that is too focused on bothering paying customers then focusing on making their store your number one choice! Yea right!
I've had similar treatment in three different Kohl's stores in three different states (Kansas, Missouri and Pennsylvania). The sales associates actually have followed me thr0ugh the store, constantly grating about the money I'd save if I got a Kohl's card. I have repeatedly said 'no, thank you' but that's like a switch for them to launch into outright harassment. I even had one female associate attempt to follow me into a dressing room, and after I shut the door in her face and requested privacy and again said 'no, I'm not interested in getting credit card', so she stood outside the dressing room door and started back into the spiel about how much money I'd save. Very rude! I've had to stop what I'm doing and explain to these people that I don't need, nor do I want another credit card, I don't want my credit rating destroyed, etc. etc. etc. I've been firm with them, saying that no should mean no. They don't let up, and they all seem to have the same, scripted "comebacks" that they obviously were coached to say, as if they were car salespeople. As soon as one finally leaves me alone, they find another associate, point out the folks who said no, and then an0ther associate starts in. It was so bad in Missouri that I actually left a pile of clothes behind, departed the store and called the manager and he said, "Well, we're supposed to be doing that, and you should be taking advantage of our outstanding savings, ma'am. So WHEN you finally decide to set up a card, please let me know." The woman working in the Kansas store was a non-smiling drill sargeant-type who raised her voice at customers as she chased them through the store, as if she thought that letting the whole store in on it might improve her chances at getting that credit card commission. I hadn't even made it 10 feet inside the store in Pennsylvania when as associate started in on me while I was still trying to brush raindrops off my face since it had been pouring when I ran into the store. I was soaking wet and he was more interested in foisting their credit card on me. I was so disgusted I threw up my hands and walked back out of the store. I guess harassment is really what Kohl's wants to be known for, instead of having affordable clothes that don't fall apart. Too bad...three strikes, and I'm out!
I was well on my way to spending close to $600 at Kohl's the other day. I bought an entire new work wardrobe for myself, including shoes, new clothes for my daughter for school and a pair of shoes for her too, and kitchen appliances as gifts. I had been in the store nearly two hours shopping. The saleslady asked me at the beginning of the transaction if I was going to put it on a Kohl's charge, I said no, it's on a Visa. (Where I earn mileage.) She said, "Oh, you can save XX amount if you fill out an application, even more if you're approved." I politely said VERY CLEARLY, "No thank you." Then that incredibly irritating saleslady pitched the credit card garbage to me after ringing up EVERY SINGLE ITEM. "Oh, now that's $10 you could save..." Me: "No thank you." Ring Ring "Now it's up to $15 you could save if you fill out an application!" Me" "Again, no thank you. " Ring Ring "Oh look there, now it's $28 you could save! It only takes 5 minutes!" Me: "NO THANK YOU." After she said it the fourth time I looked at her and said, "Did you not hear me say no FOUR TIMES? Are you DEAF? How does it feel to lose a $600 sale for being an overbearing, pushy ### to your cash-paying customer?" And walked out, leaving almost $600 worth of merchandise for her to put back. I hope she lost her job.
I work for Kohls and I understand both sides. They pressure their salesfloor people to sell the crap out of that credit. Then when they don't get it they coerce and threaten them with crap duty or less hours. When they do get credit, they get an "atta boy" and nothing else. Do not be mistaken, Kohl's makes [censored]LOADS of money off of those credit cards. People forget to pay them, or buy too much stuff and can't pay, and they nail them with late fees and finance charges.
But if you work for Kohl's, the devil pays you so you gotta do the devil's work. When I go to other Kohl's, I am honest with associates and just tell them, "that was a great sales pitch, but your card is a racket and I want no part of it". They will appreciate your honesty and leave you be.
The employees you mentioned were doing their jobs. Even in customer service we have to ask people if they want to open a charge. I know first hand that the LAST thing a customer wants is to deal with is an associate trying to sell them a credit card when they only came to the store to return their whatever. But I have no choice. We are pressured to meet our credit goal every day... and if we don't we lose hours and could lose our jobs!
Us associates aren't stupid. WE know you don't want to listen to us constantly hound you to get a credit card, and we don't like to tell you about it when we know that you don't want it. We don't deserve all the annoyed sighs, glares and fist shaking that we often get for just doing our jobs.
Next time, complain to one of the managers or ask for the corprate number. Tell them that when the store is a mess the focus needs to be cleaning up and not selling credit. The employees will thank you, because chances are all the people that were working the night you visted had to stay late after the store was closed to clean up.
The reason why the associates at kohls always ask for customers to open kohls charges and emails is because they are doing their JOB...We would not ask if we were not trying to save our customers MONEY...eventually the regular customer will open the card...
I work there and they do care way too much about getting credit apps. It's the higher ups pressuring us peons though. The cashier couldn't care less, but she won't get hours if she doesn't get people to open charge cards.
The person walking around for credit probably was the floor associate who was supposed to be straightening and probably wasn't allowed to get back to her department until she got a credit. kinda sucks
credit card rip off
Consumers Beware! Look at your Kohl's Bill and make sure you are not paying for there account ease program. I was, and never agreed too. My prove is the program is for those who loose there job, I did in January but still payed the bill on time, all the way until I ws re-employed in April. My situation was what the program was set up for, so why did I not take advantage of what I had been paying for for years. The answer is simple, I DID NOT KNOW I WAS PAYING FOR IT! When I finaly realized and contacted Kohl's, I was denied because it had been over the 180 days alowed. I complained to the BBB and Kohl's respones was that I agreed to the program back in May of 09 when I signed up. The problem with that is I have been a card holder since 05', again they have no idea what they are doing.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
You sign up for account ease on a yes or no question when you first open your account. You likely did not realize that you had checked yes (or what you were saying yes to) on your initial application. You can have them switch your preference after the fact, but there is no lawsuit here.
A class action lawsuite has been filed against Kohls for these charges, here's the link.
http://www.law360.com/articles/689390/kohl-s-can-t-force-credit-card-class-action-into-arbitration
I'll be signing up to be a part of this lawsuit and I will NEVER shop at Kohl's again!
They tell you they will remove the account ease and then it reappears. I closed my account and I am trying to pay the crap off. Kohls stores are thieves and liars.
They "lowered "my bill on the phone and then sent the bill to me with no changes. I called and they told me the guy made a mistake. They had never even closed my account. I had to "close" it again! Here I am six months later and that damn account ease reappeared! I am sitting here on hold. Hate that place.
Wow... Just saw a $3.47 charge on my statement and called and found out about this sleazy program that I have been enrolled in since 2011. They don't know how I was enrolled and I shared that I simply used my ss# at checkout since my card went dormant from non usage. I was handed the application after my checkout was complete. Their department said they no longer offer this program and that over 10 months I paid $39+ in fees...yet I rarely carry a balance. I was polite and asked when I could expect the credit on my account and was told Kohls would do a 30 day investigation and that I would receive a letter explaining this and would receive full credit. I expect Kolhls will do as they say as they are a superior retailer. I will monitor this and if I am not satisfied I will pursue an assault with the FCC. Kerry
I am trying to refiance my house. I put $300 on my card, and paid it in full, at the store in two weeks. I have paperless statements, so I never knew that they charged me this fee. Turns out, I went 60 days without paying it, and it showed up on my credit report. This ruined my chances at refinancing at a great rate... and I have (had) excellent credit. I hope I can find a legal way to hold them responsible. If I do, I'll pass it along to everyone here.
They are sneaky crooks. This fee is added without you knowledge. Even the store doesnt know of this such fee. I love how they say it was agreed upon when I opened the accont. But the matter is the fee started showing up three years later. Why are they so quick to remove the charges if the card holder agreed upon them? its another quick money maker. I lost all respect for kohls. And there merchandise is so over priced as it is. Even with the 30% coupon, its the same price if you bought the same item at walmart or target. If you still have this card, get rid of it quick!
I just noticed this sneaky charge on my bill as well. I called and "Kathy" promised to remove it and refund the charges. If this happens as promised, I will continue to be a loyal Kohls customer. Otherwise, I will cancel the card. Time will tell. Since I really like Kohls, I hope they are good by their word.
I have been a member since 8/08 and actually called after my first or second statement because I caught it. I was told I had checked the box, etc. Now, I just noticed it AGAIN, because there are already 2012 fees on my statement in January! Yes, I should've caught it far sooner, but I usually know i made a large purchase if I did, so I just pay it. Turns out they never stopped it. Customer service credited me this months and last, and cancelled it, but I have to contact the Account Ease program tomorrow to see if there is anything further they can do. I am not impressed and very prepared to cancel the card if they don't fix it. I don't even know how much it totals over 4 years! I can only see 2011&12. I wouldn't miss the card anyway, all the perks are available to the public now anyway, so its an extra bullet on my credit report for no added bennies! And their return service is shady.
I just spent 3 months having Chase fix an error on my credit report. Initially, they sent me numerous letters saying that they were "unable to fix the information." I gave them proof that it was wrong and they still wouldn't fix it. Finally it is fixed. Incidentally, this is the same company that Kohl's uses for their credit offers. HORRIBLE COMPANY! Beware of Chase issued credit. They will do anything to rip you off. This means adding random account services that you do not authorize or jumping your interest rate to about 29% when they see that you are trying to pay off an account. Crooks! I cancelled both accounts and will never do business with J.P Morgan Chase or any affiliate.
Did everyone start getting this Ease thing in 2009? That's when mine started and like many others I missed it too. I am still waiting a Second time for proof that I signed up for this. Sounds like this was a planned scam by Kohls to make money off of their charge card customers. 21.9% interest must not be enough for them.
online payment for kohls card
I purchased a Kohls card and decided to use the online payment. As soon as the amount was due I did the “Pay Online”. I was even 3 weeks early on my payment. My information wasn’t in the system and I received an email confirming that my card was paid. I decided to go online today and just look up my Credit Card Info. Thank god I did because I saw that my Bill was 50.00 more than what it was in the beginning. I tried calling customer service which you will NEVER talk to a human. They want you to punch in your Kohls number and/or Social Security number. So I called the actual store and asked for a real living person to help me. They gave me the number for the corporate office. I asked the woman why I was charged for the $50.00. She said that the Routing ID was wrong, but she didn’t understand why the computer charged me twice, two days later after it was rejected. She then said that it was a shame what happened but the computer does this and you can’t change it. Pretty much, pay the double fines and yes the computer has a mind of its own I guess and runs the payment center as well. I asked the woman in the Credit Department if I would be charged a late fee and she told me that the computer says its paid and to not worry about it. WTF? I’m supposed to believe this story! I WILL NEVER SHOP at this store again. I have written several letters regarding this to Kohls and of course I guess the computer system doesn’t read emails. I’ve NEVER had a problem like this and I’ve never dealt with a Generic and Shady company like this before! Please don’t get a Kohls Card. August 3 2009
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
My first payment on my Kohl's card was due in January of 2012. I registered online, which was difficult. I input my bank account information and paid my bill. I've been paying it my bill the same way since then. It's now May 2012 and I scheduled my usual payment on the 1st of the month to be paid the next day. I have not changed anything on my account. Not the bank account or anything else. I've been waiting for this payment to be taken out of my account since then and it's now the 9th of May. I check Kohl's website yesterday and it said the payment was "pending". I went this morning to check it again and it now shows that payment as being made and them being "adjusted" all on the 1st of May. My balance was now $25 higher because they charged me a late fee. I checked my banking info. My account is shown as "verified" and again, I have not changed anything since I first input this information in January. I called Kohl's and asked about the payment. First he keep stating that it was made over the phone, which it was not. He told me it was "returned" because they could not locate the account. They said that a number in the routing number or my bank account must be wrong. The same acount I've been paying it through since January. He then wanted me to make a payment over the phone. I told him I wanted to know why it could not locate it and he said I would have to call Telecheck. I called them and they only show one payment being made through them. They do not show any other payments trying to be made. I call Kohl's back and tell them I want to know why all of the sudden they couldn't find my account. They girl didn't know and didn't care to find out. I told her I did think I should have to pay the late fee when they screwed up somewhere. She removed the late fee only after I paid the double payment. The only reason I paid the double payment so was their screw up does not end up on my credit report. What bothers me the most is that I told them I had not changed a single thing in my bank information and yet they did not care to find out what happened on their end. I went to delete my bank information off their website since I will no longer be paying online and it plain as day says my bank account is "verifiied". They have got to have the worst "customer service" ever! Not wanting to find out what happened on your end? I'll be canceling my card next month after it's paid off.
I've had my first experience with Kohls charge. November 22, 2009 I purchased $104.57 worth of goods. I received a bill several weeks later for that amount. On 12/28/09 I registered online following the instructions to pay online and paid the entire amount. On Februry 2, 2010 when balancing my checkbook I noticed the Kohls payment had not been credited on my statement. I contacted Kohls via e-mail to ask why my payment had not been credited and was told they had no record of receiving payment. So I went back and pulled up my account but by now the amount was $135.00 I had screwed up and did not get a confirmation number for that transaction. So I went back online and checked my account...it was now $164.00. Since I assumed it was my fault I paid that amount and this time I made sure I got a confirmation number. I then e-mailed Kohls back and told them I wanted my charge card and my account closed as I felt the charges added to my account were not justifiable. I was told that I would have to call collections to get my account closed. After reading all these complaints I'm wondering who this can be reported to because I believe this is some serious bilking of the public. I'll never shop in Kohls again and I'm going to try to clear all my information online because now I don't trust them at all.
This whole thing makes no sense at all. First of all, a Kohl's Card is a store credit card. You open them, you don't "purchase" them. That right there tips me off that you don't really have a firm grasp at all as to what you're talking about.
Now, let's try to follow this... You bought something, and went to pay online. You paid early, received confirmation, and later, checked and saw the charge was still there? Another charge was there? What? The person you spoke to told you you'd entered your routing number wrong? When was a routing number entered? When you signed up your debit to pay online? So it rejected the payment you made? Because you didn't enter your own information properly? And then she said you'd actually have to pay your bill and that you wouldn't be charged a late fee for your payment?
...It sounds like you screwed up your form, and when they went to charge your debit for the payment, it didn't work, so it was still unpaid, and you had to actually pay your bill. They didn't even charge you the late fee, when they could have. The only mistake they made was sending out the automatic conformation when your payment hadn't actually worked.
Could not get my $50.00 gift card from value plus on line!

Every time I try to log on to pay my small Kohl's bill, my password is shown to be incorrect. In the past, I have requested a new password. Now, however, I have sent two emails to Kohls asking for a new password and have had no reply.
I have tried to email customer service. I click on "email us" and enter "go". Then, I'm redirected back to the same "email us" window.
Attempts to reach customer service via phone are useless as I don't have several hours to remain on hold because of a "problem with volumn of calls which we are attempting to address."
I just want to send these folks some money!
I think...I think probably, you could just give them the routing number from your account. Every account has to have one, since that's how they get the money off of your card. If you don't know it, you can call your bank and ask them for it. You'll have to verify your identity before they give it to you, but then you'll know what it is.
As for the inability of the store to take credit/debit? That's not the store's choice. Trust me, I'd take your payment with credit or debit in a heartbeat. The only thing I can say is that if you know you're coming in to make a payment, stop by the bank first and withdraw some money. It can't hurt to have a bit of cash on your person, and will make the experience much less painless.
The reason that the stores are unable to accept your credit/debit card is that it charges us a fee for every card we accept. Apparently the corporate office doesn't think it's a good idea to get charged money when you're giving us money back. Which honestly? I understand. I know that it costs .35 a card that's slid through the pin pad at my register. And that's .35 to the company. Now imagine if every customer with a Kohl's charge came through and wanted to pay on their account with a card. We would be losing money faster than we're making it, as we don't count payments as money made...
heatherbirdlady: "Maybe" she has a savings account? That hasn't been established one way or another, and still does not solve her problem. The bottom line is that Kat127 does not understand that bill payments need to be paid with a check or cash, in most cases. You can pay -some- utilities with a CC or debit (if it has the MC or VISA logo) of course. But one can't pay a Kohl's CC bill the way she tried to do it. It's still not Kohl's fault. They did nothing wrong to Kat127.
Kat127: Kohl's did nothing wrong to you! You don't understand how money works. You say that you have a Debit Card but don't have a checking account, but you can't have a debit card if you don't have a checking account. The debit card is linked to your checking account. Most bill payments must be made through a checking account, hence their asking you for your routing number. Some utility companies will accept payment through a credit card, but the majority of bill payments must be made from a checking account. You have a Debit Card, which means you have a checking account. Pay your bill. Duh!
I now work at Kohl's on Midlothian street and I havent seen the customer service for the most part promoting our "yes we can" policy.
What does that mean? If we have a sign on the floor that says something is on sale. Then it IS on sale. Even if someone for got to take it down or put it up early. If something is in the wrong area so you expected it to be cheaper, then it is that cheaper price. You tell them and they should not even have to call an E3 (Manager). [you have to use common sense here though, a blender is not going to be 3.00]
Kohl's is suppose to be a hassle free and enjoyable experience. Which I mean, I dont even shop there but I know the deals are good. Literally every day something is on some kind of sale and if you get the Kohl's charge card it stacks up on it. the first day you get it you get 15% off whatever your buying.
I'm trying very hard to make sure everyone P.o.s, customer service and even us in Freight are practicing what we were told to. And yes i work Freight and I still when putting stuff on the floor help any customer that passes by any way i can.
Its a good store, there are a few bad employees though. Which if you contact a manager there at that time and let them know, the person will likely get fired or suspended.
Which, I would much rather then people not enjoying their experience.
as a kohls employee im having issues with them too, i have never logged into my view my wages to get my paystub as kohls forced me to have direct deposite because they are not going to print paper checks anymore, so when i tried it told me to use the last 5 digits of my social, well that told me it was incoreect, then it prompt me to answer a security question which i never set because i never set up my page, so when i go to the store administrator she said shed contact payroll, payroll said theyed get back to her, over a week ago, shes sent them emails and calls same answer, so i call corperate myself, and they tell me that the administrator will have to do it, endless god damn circles, i explained to them that it is important that i need my paystubs, and still now help, kohls puts so much stalk on its costumers but cares squat about employee, low pay to be exploited and driven tired just to hear you arent effecient and to do your job quicker to unload and put away an entire semi of merchindise in 2 hours by hand is and will never happen.
You can call Credit Customer service and pay over the phone with your debit card or check without having to wait for a representative for no charge. The system over the phone is automated so you won't have to wait to make a payment.
You can also pay in the store using cash or check at any register. You can even pay right after you make your purchase so that you don't have to return later to pay the bill.
We make every effort at Kohl's to provide you with fast and convinent ways of paying your bill. The website must have been down or undergoing maintainence to behave in that fashion. I'm sorry that you had difficulty using our website!
no complane
since you have a kohls charge, i assume you shop in the store. kohls makes it very easy to pay your bill instore with either cash or check. you can even pay your bill immediately after making a purchase as to take advantage of coupons but never keeping a balance. so the next time you are shopping, just pay your bill instore.
I just now canceled my account,
- can't pay unless you have a routing number.
- can't pay with your debit card at the store.
- the person in the customer service area does not know the amount you owe...seriously folks! The customer service area at kohls has not idea how much you owe, so if you dont have your bill with you you basically have to call and be on hold for hours.
- customer service over the phone is incompetent! I mentioned that I wanted to cancel my account but had a few questions first...so the rep tells me ok its cancelled, are you serious I hadn't even told her to cancel it yet. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS COMPANY.
-I was late on my bill 5 days and got charged 30 dollars, when I had a balance of 50!
-you cant cancel your card at the store...because they don't know your information.
- WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE, NEVER EVER WILL KOHLS GET A PENNY FROM ME EVER AGAIN!
-SUPER AGGRAVATED!
