After having a seizure and waking up i wanted advice on wether i should bother going to the after hours hospital which would have taken ages and so i wanted to avoid. i went on this website and asked the question to the doctor they charge you a 2 dollar fee for this and then as soon as you ask a question u are now signed up for monthly payments of $85nzd i was un aware of this and today went to checkmy bank account to find a payment of $85 and then checked and found another one on the date this happened. The fine print most likely states this but it is clearly deceptive and my panicked state was taken advantage of.
Desired outcome: I want a refund and i want this business shut down
After issuing complaint and explaining my story i was prompty refunded i am very happy with the outcome

Refund issue
At the end of October, I had a problem with my landlord and wanted to ask for legal advice on JustAnswer. The lawyer told me to take drastic actions (sue) that felt incredibly too sudden and uncomfortable for me. Thankfully, I was able to resolve my issues on my own but I felt incredibly unsatisfied with their service. At the time, I only paid a 5$ fee and thought that was it but it continued to make me subscribe to their service for three more months, which is 180$.
Upon realizing these charges, I contacted their customer care to request a refund but they said "I've reviewed your account and see that you posted your question which we are not able to refund as the fees are provided at the time of posting the question. In doing so you agreed to enroll in a JustAnswer membership and the following charges: - One-time join fee: $5 - Monthly membership fee (recurring): $60. This covers your first question and any questions you may ask until the end of your membership." This is completely ludicrous because as I've told them I only asked one question and it was at the end of October. I've never even logged into their website again. So, what is the reasoning behind resubscribing me over and over again without my knowledge?
As an international college student that suffers from ulcerative colitis, I have been in and out of surgery for the past 3 months. This is why I had no idea that they were charging me because I never received any email or message for the resubscription, even though when I canceled my subscription today, I received an instant text message that my subscription was canceled. It's completely unethical!
In my opinion, their service feels incredibly deceptive and unjust because I was never even satisfied with their service in the first place yet they kept charging without my knowledge. I see many people with the same complaints on this website, so I hope that people will stay away from their fraudulent business model and send a cease-and-desist request for reimbursement if the same circumstance arises.
Desired outcome: I want a refund back for the 3 months of service that I never used!

Agreed to $2 fee got charged $57
My 8 month old puppy accidentally ate the other 11 year old dog's medication. I was panicked and searched "dog poisoned". The offer to talk to a vet online straight away came up, I took it. I answered some questions of a veterinary nurse/bot. And then it said we will transfer you to a vet now, just pay $2. Panicked and wanting to know what to do for my puppy, I agreed. As I waited to got to the time UT vets was open we rang them, while still waiting for and answer from Just Answer and they talked us through what to do for our puppy.
Once I got off the phone from the vet and looked after my dog, I saw I had an email from Just Answer telling me I was now a member, paying $55 a month. This is very much preying on someone who is panicked and needs answers fast. The puppy is fine but no, thanks to Just Answer who wasted my time by claiming they could help me, taking way too long in a poisoning case and should not have come up as the first thing as I needed help immediately and I was panicking.
Desired outcome: That they cannot come up as the first answer to dog poisoning.

Parasitic business model - Unauthorized charges
We used JustAnswer to see how much a piece of artwork was worth, we paid £5 initially back in February 2022, and only just noticed that they had been taking £35 a month ever since.
They've taken over £400 pounds and given us absolutely nothing in return. This is a parasitic business model that preys on busy people, like me and my wife, who have full time jobs and a family to raise.
We only just managed to cancel today and contact their support to request a refund, they only offered to discount the last month (Jan 23) they charged us for, under 10% of the money they've essentially robbed from us.
Desired outcome: Full refund of the monthly fees we never agreed to.
Hi Julie,
My husband has emailed you.
JustAnswer Scam
I just found hundreds, probably thousands of stories like mine on the Internet, about JustAnswer enticing people to pay 2$ for professional advice and then charging them 89$ monthly for nothing. It just happened to me and I was trying to retrace the events that led me into this trap. In trying to find how/where I was subsequently (after my online chat with a socalled expert) asked to "tip" the expert - because that suggestion/request is nowhere in my documents/emails - one of the thing I noticed is that when you click on the "Rate this service" five-star process, no matter what you click it shows online as 4/5 stars and asks you how they can improve. So all their customers feedback are false and twisted the same way they are.
Desired outcome: Considering the number of complaints, this is a class action suit in the making, no doubt. I want my 89$ back + penalties for aggravation and time loss.
To all readers, Julie:
I must apologize for my rant! We so used to fraud that we automatically assume. In this case, I started by trying to find out in JustAnswer is legit and the number of complaints like mine (and variable outcomes) seemed to point toward a scam.
I just want to say that I started by doing my research: found numerous complaints everywhere. Then only did I try to contact JustAnswer. I should have started there...
I was in touch with a very kind and patient agent (24/7). He apologized profusely and proceeded to refund both my 2$ registration fee + 59$ monthly charge.
I wouldn't recommend this business model, but I can assure you and your readers that the company is solid, good technology and business idea. I received all the appropriate email messages to say that I was refunded and taken off the distribution list.
It sure doesn't help that the Contact page and other About us on the web site point to missing/error page. It just adds to the idea of a scam.
My apologies for drawing conclusions before attempting to contact the company. Based on experience, this is usually long/circumvoluted and pointless. But all the opposite in this case.
Thank you and let me know if I can somehow reverse my angry comments.
Charges I did not authorise
I was using e bay trying to find out how I could cancel a listing and was somehow transferred to Just Answer. I thought this was a new e bay link. I gave my credit card number to pay $1 to answer my query.
I was told by Just Answer that they couldn't help with e bay enquiries.
I have since been charged $72 AUD on 7th December and 7th January.
I did not agree to any subscription with this company and I would like a full refund with no future charges.

Problem Not Fixed
Date: January 21, 2023
Time: Afternoon & Evening
I contacted JustAnswer regarding a problem with email. I was charged $46.00 plus $39.00 to allow access to my computer, which I do not believe the tech ever did. I followed instructions. Response time was very slow. I was on hold for longer than an hour at point, I have Screenshots to prove this. I was bounced around from tech to tech and ended up with the ChatBot more than once. My problem was never solved. My credit card company notified me about the $46.00 charge which I have blocked. If the $39.00 one shows up I will contest it. I will pay the $1.00 signup fee. I have used online help from other tech companies, such as Apple, successfully. I asked for a contact to request a refund and I was given a bad link. JustAnswer support is worthless. Thank you for your help.
Desired outcome: Reversal of charges or refund.

Membership not cancelled
Hi there -
I used the service but immediately cancelled my subscription under a "pay $5 join fee and try free for a week" offer. However, I just discovered I've been charged $60 a month for the last 4 months. I called and the company refuses to refund the money even though I never used the service again. I logged into my account again and my membership was never cancelled. I tried to do it again and when I confirmed cancellation it took me to a chat asking why. I had to say I didn't want it and just cancel it in the chat before it did. I'm guessing it did this before and I didn't realize my membership hadn't been fully cancelled. I am FURIOUS that I cannot get my money back. Additionally, when I looked back through my emails, right at the bottom of the welcome email I was sent with a temporary password to ask my question, it says "we waived the $5 joining fee and charged you $60 since you were a previous member". I was NOT a previous member. EVER. So their system is completely screwed up but they will not refund our money.
Desired outcome: I want a refund for the money they took for services I did not use nor did I know I had.

Unauthorized charges I wasn't aware of
I was just on this website for about 10 minutes and canceled because it wasn't the legal documents and help i needed to find and get the help filing them out. I agreed with the 5.00 to join fee but was not aware of the extra 60.00 fee they also charged me. I got a notification from my bank a few minutes after canceling where they charged me a 60.00 membership fee. I had no problem with paying the 5.00 join fee but canceled after i realized the site was worthless to me so i wouldn't forget within the month to cancel before i got charged 60.00 little did i now they would charge it along with the 5.00 charge. I contacted them and asked for a refund because it was very misleading.
Desired outcome: Please refund my money..
Thanks for my refund. Yes Justanswer refund my money back into my account. Thanks
I received a reply from Justanswer to refund my money back to my account. I will thank them once my money is refunded..
"Join for only $5. Cancel anytime"
The website says it's only $5 to have an "expert" give you advice. Once you provide your credit card info, they hit you with a $40 "Membership Fee" that is charged to your card every month until you cancel. The "advice" given by the phony expert was totally useless, generic trash. He started by asking if I had the manual; which manual? The appliance manufacturer only provides the typical users' manual. The website also says "get your answer in minutes;" my answer came in the following day, hours later. The information given was so general, I could have found it on YouTube for free, even though Mike, the "expert," said he has been in the repair field for over 20 years. This is a joke and highly unlikely.
Desired outcome: I want Just Answer to refund my $45 and delete my credit card information.

unauthorized credit card charges
In December, I was told I could ask a question from just ask, about my tv for $1. When I received my bank statement, $46.00 was taken from my checking account. from Just ask.Transaction # [protected] taken on Dec. 16th. They did not even answer my question about my tv. This is not what I agreed to, and expect a full refund and cancel any subscription they think I might have ordered. Thank You
Desired outcome: To get a full refund back.
wendypeavy62@gmail.com Thank you Vanessa.
Billing
I just noticed they have been charging my credit card after I canceled 4 months ago! This is after I saw they charge me for 6 months. What a rip off. I could see if I was using there service but 10 extra months of 31 dollars a month! Ridiculous, they must be hard up for money because all the other complaints are also about billing. I'll just go to the Vet.
Desired outcome: Refund but I know it won't happen.

Unauthorized Charges
On 9/25, I posed a question to JustAnswer for a medical opinion. I got a one sentence response to my question which really offered me nothing of value. For this I see a charge on my Discover card for $1, $7 and $46 on 9/25. I did not create an account with JustAnswer to my knowledge and did not OPT-IN to their monthly subscription Service. Life happened and I got behind on reviewing my credit card charges, but discovered in November that I was charged $46 on 10/25 and $46 on 11/25 as well. I believe JustAnswer is involved in fraud by signing consumers up for monthly subscriptions without explicitly asking the consumer to OPT-IN for this service. As far as I'm concerned I did not authorize these charges to my credit card and because of that they are fraudulent.

Desired outcome: Refund of $92 (10/25 and 11/25 subscription charges). I do not dispute the 9/25 charges.

Billing Fraud,
Continued billing my credit card even after I explained I had one question only. I did not need a subscription. Company uses predatory, opportunistic opting in, until you opt out. They refuse change their predatory practices even though many people complain about their billing practices and these complaints go unheard because they can take advantage of people and make more money.
JustAnswer's predatory billing practices should be stopped.
Desired outcome: Refund of customers money and this type of billing practice should be banned as it's opportunistic and shows disregard for customers.

Medical question and answer with the meaning of what I didn't understand
I was admitted to the hospital after being attacked had nothing to do with much of anything else after running several tests on me because of my blunt head injuries it I wasn't told but I was told that I needed to stay at the hospital after a night and a half and having family trouble and being a single mom I had to go home because my daughter being missing I left ama and that was against everything and they weren't giving me any information and they and I left that medicine which was fine cuz I was more worried about what I was worried about after a few days I went and got my medical records so I could just go through him and see what they were looking at and what they were what it was all about I knew my eye was bad but then I come across that I've been having stroke in my frontal lobe and in my lower back lobe the. It also indicated that on my right inner carotid artery that there was complications of not getting enough oxygen to my brain in which causes the stroke I guess after finding out all these things and some other things I didn't understand I got on WebMD cuz I thought that it would be the most legitimate place to ask questions somehow there was a pop up for just answer and I got on it some way I don't know if you have anything to do with WebMD but I got to representative who told me that a doctor could text me almost immediately after paying a dollar and get you know paying a dollar through my credit card and I didn't think anything about it like a scam after a while why did it and after a while I got the text and the man literally chick what I wrote down directly from the hospital report that I should probably have it looked into more never explaining anything he told me exactly what I already got any natural person would already think that I just thought that he would give me some good answer to find out later that not only did I pay the dollar but I paid $50 because now I'm in a membership so I called when I found that out which was in December 2022. Not only was the customer service agent very rude basically laughed at me for saying that I would have a fraud case on him through my bank they said I'll give you a lawyer's number and basically said there's nothing I can do but understanding I had when I got off I believe that the membership was not going to be no more move on to December 23rd 2022 my daughter's father passed away we weren't together but unbeknownst to everyone it was sudden and money really got type now it's January 17th 2023 there is no more child support coming in I'm doing the best that I can as a single mom and I find out that the day before my daughter's birthday which her birthday is on the 18th I went to get make sure I had a little bit of money to buy a few things and I'm overdrafted because just answer to their membership money out again and I called again they said I couldn't really understand the lady but she told me that is guaranteed that I was going to be off of the membership I could have swore she told me she was baby back my money and I thought that she was nice about it but I get email from the man that I put in the second column about the company saying that the membership service that eject a person that was seriously scared and sick and took their money just like that not even understanding everything that someone could be going through let alone being scared that's my complaint
Desired outcome: What I want to happen is that scans like this don't happen especially when it comes to people that are sick or poor or anyone at all I want my 101 back I was only going to ask for that 50 back.

Unauthorized charges
On 12/6/2022 I called in to cancel the membership. I was told that it would be no problem that I would not be charged. They charge me not only in Decc 2022 but also on January 14,2023. I called again the person was rude and hanged up on me when I tried to give him the dates and names. This is is a very unprofessional and unpleasant company. They take your money and refuse to treat you with respect
Desired outcome: Refund and apologies

Ask a vet
I used Ask a Vet pay per question and was asked if I was willing to pay $5 for my question. I confirmed that and thought that all went well but then noticed that I was being charged $35 monthly as well, which I didn't agree to or sign. I looked through my text conversation and never once were any additional fees brought up. I did not sign up for a membership and am disappointed since I otherwise found the person I spoke with to answer my one question helpful.
Looking through the terms I was texted I was not:
1) "provided any notice of upcoming automatic renewal" (that I didn't sign up for but if I did I should have received notice the times I was additionally charged according to that logic),
2) I was not told of any fees other than $5 "Sign Up Fees. Some Customers/Members may be charged a sign-up fee disclosed at the time of sign up for a Membership. The fee is automatically charged to the Member’s payment source provided on the Platform."
3) I was not toldof any remainder of the selected price charged at the time an Expert responds. "Pay-Per-Question. Certain customers may have the option to participate on the Platform with the pay-per-question model. Using Pay-Per-Question, you select the price that you are willing to pay for the Site Access Benefits for a single question. Once you have selected the price and submitted your payment information, your question may be posted on JustAnswer. A portion of your payments will be paid to the Expert and a portion to JustAnswer. You will be charged in one of three ways depending on the payment source, as described on the payment page: (i) when the question is posted; (ii) at the time an Expert responds to the Customer’s question; or (iii) $5 upon the posting of a question, with the remainder of the selected price charged at the time an Expert responds. Charges are not refundable except as expressly permitted in these Terms."

Being charged for service I did not request
December 4, 2022 I had issues with my TV. I went to google to look for solutions. I pulled up the Just Answer site. I was asked to give my credit card information and I would be charged $1 to be connected to a tech. I filled in the information. I was conned to the tech. He suggested I unplug my TV for 10 minutes. When that did not work he suggested I purchase a new TV.
Nowhere on that first form did it state I would be charged more than $1. I was charged $1 on December 5. I was charged $55 on December 7 and another $55 January 12.
Desired outcome: I would like my $110 back. I think there webpage should make it clear the charge is far more than $1.
