I am a former Goodwill employee. I'm not going into all the details, but this is a start to my negative review. Right before I was hired, I asked the manager if I was going to be trained, and she said yes, and she lied right to my face. I was never trained and the manager yelled at me on my first day on the job all because I wasn't "fast enough" sorting through all the clothes and items. I needed a job coach at the time and Goodwill has their own job coach on site and refused to work with CareerLink so they "let me go" (I quit basically). They are extremely picky about letting "outside" job coaching companies work with employees that need a job coach.
The only good thing about this company is the pay.
Goodwill gave my mom and I a bunch of crap all because I needed a job coach and the steps in order to have the "on site" job coach was just unbearable.
The only time I ever go to Goodwill is to shop.
Recommendation: If anyone wants to get a job at Goodwill, if someone needs a job coach it will be exhausting getting the "on site" job coach. Working there was a mistake, shopping there is a better option.
