Expedia bounced between airlines and ended up paying twice

I received a notice that my flight that I booked for my son on Jet Blue for the last leg of our trip to Hawaii was no longer availalbe. (leaving at 9:20 PM on July 4th and arriving in LAX at 5:45 AM on the 5th and then he was supposed to take a connecting flight at 7:20 AM. This was moved to 6:50 AM and he was not given an option to take that flight, even though there were tickets available from JetBlue). I received an e-mail and was given 2 options, one 4 PM flight and another for 6:50 AM (the next day... which I didn't realize). Since his flight from Honolulu to LAX was scheduled to land at 5:45 AM, the 6:50 time seemed to be the most reasonable. I selected the 6:50 AM flight. Only later when I got the confirmation e-mail at the end of the day did I realize that it was booked for the next day. To me this seems crazy that I was even given an option for a flight 25 hours later so I missed that it was the next day. My bad I guess.

As soon as I saw this I called Expedia to attempt the change it back to a flight on the 5th of July so he could get home that day as he has to work on the 6th. The first guy said we could make the change but there would be a $1 change fee. As I gave him my credit card info he then informed me that the system wouldn't let him make the change and that I needed to contact JetBlue directly.

I tried chatting with an agent and let them know that I either needed to cancel the whole trip and rebook or change that last leg of the flight to the 5th. I was offered a refund of the entire trip by JetBlue for JetBlue credit but I told them I preferred a refund. They said I'd have to contact JetBlue for that.

I contacted JetBlue and they said that these changes can only be made by Expedia and only Expedia could do a refund. I contacted Expedia again, this time using the chat and was told that only JetBlue could make the change. This went back and forth for a while.

In that chat I again stated that I would either need to change the flight back or cancel. Since I was told that I couldn't make the change, I said that I'll take the JetBlue credit that I was previously offered. This new agent then apologized and said that this was a mistake and there is no way to get credit or a refund.

I then called back and spoke with another agent who said the same thing, that changes can't be made and no way to get a refund. I asked to speak to her manager. She then put me on hold for 30 minutes and came back and said she could get my son on the 4 PM flight on the 5th for a change price of $90 + dollars. Since the JetBlue 6:50 AM flight was only $49 plus a $30 bag fee, I declined since the earlier flight was preferable and cheaper. I then asked about the manager that she supposedly had been contacting. She put me on hold again and I finally did speak to a manager who was very nice and assured me that he could take care of my needs and there would be no problem. After speaking with him for a while so he could understand the situation he said that he would need to speak with JetBlue directly and solve the problem but that it would be another 1 1/2-3 hours and he would call me back. Since it was 10:30 PM EST at this time having already been working on this for 4 hours, we agreed that if he could solve it in the next 2 hours he would call me that night or, if not, I would get a call in the morning. I stayed up for 2 more hours waiting for the call then went to bed and never received any call the next day.

I finally ended up calling back for service at the end of the day today (4/25/2023) and was told by the agent that there was no solution.

I went back to the JetBlue site to book the flight myself. Of course the cost of the flight had gone up $40 so I paid $89 for the flight plus $30 for 1 bag for a flight that I already paid for and booked with Expedia.

Desired outcome: I would like a $120 refund for the flight that I had to book. An apology would be nice as well since I was left hanging with none of the promised resolutions.

Expedia Bait and switch

We are writing to express our extreme dissatisfaction with the booking process and subsequent accommodation provided through Expedia. On the 5th of March 2023, we booked a hotel at The Vendue. Confirmation number [protected]. The hotel is located at the listed address of 19 Vendue Range through your website. The pictures and amenities are why we chose this specific hotel for our trip from the 4th to 12th of April 2023. After booking, we received confirmation that we were given accommodation across the street. This hotel not only had a different address, but it was also a completely different hotel that was not as nice or full of artwork as the one we had booked. This is clearly a case of bait and switch and is completely unacceptable.

To make matters worse, we were forced to pay an additional $117 per night to stay at the hotel we had originally booked. This is a significant amount of money, and we were not prepared for this unexpected expense. The two hotels were of vastly different tiers of comfort and quality, and we feel as though we have been taken advantage of.

We are demanding reimbursement for the difference in cost between the two hotels, as well as compensation for the inconvenience and disappointment caused by the switch. Furthermore, we strongly urge Expedia to fix their website to ensure that this type of situation does not happen to any other unsuspecting travelers.

We expect a prompt response to our complaint and a satisfactory resolution to this matter. Thank you for your attention to this issue.

Expedia Credit for my cancelled flight

I called to change the name on my purchased Ticket due to flying out of two airports the same day. (Seattle, Washington and John Wayne, Orange County.) The Seattle Ticket was for my son, my flight was scheduled for June 26, 2023. I talked to Expedia representative and explained to him my situation and was told I could not change the name. Which would have solved the problem! I had to cancel the flight and make schedule a new flight. My family is scheduled to flight to Newark, New Jersey to visit my Mother and Brothers in Jersey City, NJ. I do not need credit for the flight because I am a US Navy Veteran who suffered a Burst Aneurysm, Stoke, Quadruple Heart Bypass Surgery, Retina injury, Hypertension PTSD, Traumatic Brain injury and I am a Diabetic. I am 100% VA disabled and do not fly on a regular basis. This is the reason why I would like my money refunded to me. I served my country fighting in the Persian Gulf War and Iraq. I am only flying to see my mother who is not getting any younger, I am truly blessed that I and her are still here! I am on a fixed income, and I am emotionally torn by situation which is keeping me up at night. I had to pay $1027 for my son to fly after the cancellation because the price of the tickets increased. Thank you for your time and patience. I hope this matter can be resolved because I will never used that credit because of my condition.

Re: Budget billing (incident 2/26/2023 to 3/4/2023)

I made my reservation on Expedia (itinerary [protected]; Budget confirmation 18900908US5) with a price quote of $252.44. When I picked up the car at CDG Orly, the Budget attendant handed me the car key, saying everything was ok. I did not sign any contract - in particular, I did not agree to any additional (comprehensive) insurance coverage since I carry such insurance through my credit card. A claim of over $600 was put on my credit card. I assumed that included a guarantee deposit.

When I handed in the car at Gare de Lyon on 3/4, I was presented with a bill of 566.42 euros – exceeding $600. The explanation I was given was that I had contracted comprehensive insurance coverage. The contract I was shown carried neither my signature nor my initials - I never signed any contract at pick-up. When I objected, the Budget representative told me she could not modify the contract (which I found plausible). So I asked her to print the contract/bill for me. She told me it would be sent to me by e-mail. I eventually received the (unsigned) contract after complaining, and there has been a charge on my credit card exceeding $600.

Expedia Refund refusal

Expedia refised to reimburse me for 3 missed flights in November, 2022. I flew Jet Blue to Orlando & missed a connection to Key West via Silver Airways due to lengthy distance between Terminals C&B & 1.5 hr TSA line. My itinerary only allotted 45 minutes but it took me 2.5 hrs. I went to the Silver Airways desk where I was told to call Expedia. I paid for all new flights when I was told that my other flights on the itinerary had neen cancelled. I had to stay in Orlando overnight to get the next day's flight to Key West. Missed a night's reservation in Key West & paid for additional night due to new itinerary. I attempted to get reimbursed for missed flights for nearly 5 months of complaints/calls to Customer Service. I was refused reimbursement. I was informed that the agent I spoke with on 11/16 was not an Expedia agent (part of a scam?!). I wanted to know why Expedia wouldn't back up customers who booked an itinerary through Expedia that wasn't humanly possible to achieve due to Jet Blue's relocation to a new Terminal. No Terminals were listed on my itinerary so it was unecpected to find out the distance between Terminsls in Orlando & that I had to go through TSA line again (twice in 1 day!) Iwas told that Jet Blue refused to reimburse me & Expedia followed their decisions. Travel insurance through Expdia/Generali refused a refund. I submitted a complaint to the BBB.

Desired outcome: Refund $800. or flight credit & apology from Expedia. Investigation on scam with travel agent pretending to work for Expedia.

Expedia Hotel in Wendover, Utah Knights Inn

I have no idea why you have this property on your website. It is the worst place anyone could stay. It is litterly like a crack house. The property is run down, the rooms are dirty, they rooms smell, the property has abandoned cars, and burnt our cars, drug needles and garbage laying around on the ground. The front desk manager is super cranky and not very nice. Read some of the reviews from other people. I went to check in to two rooms for me and my husband and my friends. The office area was gross, the man at the desk was nasty, I wanted to see a room as I had concerns seeing the front of the hotel. He showed us a room and it was absolutely disgusting, and the smell made my asthma kick in and I had a coughing fit. I told him we could not stay there, and wanted a refund, he refused and charged my card anyway for 2 rooms. This place is scary and disgusting and needs condemed. It looks like skid row, and honestly looks pretty sketchy. We did not stay. Went down t he street and found a better hotel. I didn't get photos as I was not able to stay there very long. My asthma was getting worse. I had to go away from the property to try to recover from the smell.

Desired outcome: Want my money back! And this place inspected. It needs shut down

Expedia Flight credit use (or inability to use)

During Hurricane Ian last fall, my wife and I were traveling from Seattle to Savannah for a work meeting. Part of our initial flight was cancelled on Sept. 29th, 2022 so we rebooked a portion through Expedia on Delta to get around the closure. Hours later, my work conference cancelled so I cancelled the flights that morning after confirming with Expedia that I would receive flight credits for Delta.

Two months later, I used just my flight credit ($417) for another work flight from Seattle to Pasco ($376). Four days after scheduling, Delta rescheduled this flight to a time that would no longer work so I had to cancel and rebook directly through another airline.

I'm now trying to use the credits for the same conference, this time in New Orleans. I tried to use the credits online and scheduled the two of us round trip for $880.80 but got a message to call customer service to schedule the flights to use the credits (indicated as $834.20 on the web site). This is all that I want to accomplish is to use the credits for this flight and am even willing to only get the reduced $376 credit for my flight.

I then experienced the worst customer service call ever. After struggling to understand the agent for the first 30 minutes due to loud background conversations and not knowing whether they were talking to me, to themselves or to someone helping them understand the issue (which was applying two flight credits to a trip for my wife and I). I was then on hold for 10 minutes while they checked with Delta to see if the credits were still valid (which they were). On hold was only slightly less annoying that the multiple conversations with variable volume and and static filled music. I then spent another 20 minutes trying to understand why to use the credit, the flight cost more than doubled from what I had scheduled online as they said I had to be in the same cabin area as the flight I had cancelled which was the Pasco flight which as a communter flight I upgraded from my initial ticket to make the most out of the credits. Thanks to their "Support", it was $50 more expensive for me to use the credit than to not apply the credit to the same flight and I would use up the credit. This really was the worst customer all experience "ever".

Part of their issue was that I could only apply one flight credit at a time since my wife had to schedule her own (even though they were both booked through my Expedia account). I then tried to schedule just her flight online through Expedia only to get a message that the credits were linked and have to be applied together.

Desired outcome: I would like to use both flight credits on Delta round-trip flights from SeaTac to New Orleans without having to upgrade to premium seats.

Expedia Payment not received

As you may be aware, on February 11, 2023, I was scheduled to fly from Queenstown, New Zealand to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

My flight from Vancouver to Toronto was canceled and further flights out of New Zealand were being canceled, due to Cyclone Gabriel.

I called Expedia and asked them for my options. They said that I could cancel my ticket and get a refund of $1,350 minus $150NZD, for a total of $1,200 CAD, because I am canceling within the same 24 hours. I never received my refund.

I have since contacted the agents through chat weekly. One agent said that he found my phone records and had sent it for review. Another advised that after reviewing the phone records, I was going to receive an airline credit to be used by 2024. When I told this agent that I had no intention to travel in the next year, and asked for my refund instead, he said that I had to wait for further review.

I have waited for over 8 weeks now. Every time I contact Expedia chat, I am told that I will receive an email. I have never received any email, if I did not contact the chat I would receive no update at all.

Today, I followed up again on my refund status and was told that I was entitled to nothing. What happened to the credit that the other agents told me I was qualified to receive? Why am I told something different every time I reach out to the Expedia agents? Why is no one reaching out to me? Why do I have to keep re-telling my story? Why am I being punished for being misinformed by Expedia agents?

That said, I hereby request that the abovementioned refund of $1,200 CAD be paid to me by April 18, 2023. If I am not contact by then, I will have no choice but to escalate matters further by submitting a claim with both the Canadian Transportation Agency and with Small Claims Court.

Frontier rescheduled my flight. Was not able to contact Frontier by phone(which you gave me) or text. Spoke to a customer relations person and received no satisfaction; as he couldnt help me get in touch with Frontier also Maybe Frontier is not an airline that you should be aiding in cheating customers out of their money. I will no longer be using your or Frontiers company

Expedia taxi reservation

This company--TAXICO--is fraudulent. They made many mistakes at booking, including wrong number of passengers and wrong number of bags and wrong pick up time. Then the driver DID NOT COME AT ALL. The phone number they gave me was not in service, using both my American phone and an airport guard's personal Mexican phone. Their customer service line also did not work. They are based in GERMANY and do not answer any phones. They are cheaters. They should not be part of Expedia. We had to pay to get a different taxi, after waiting for over an hour.

Desired outcome: REFUND my money and get rid of this company

Expedia hotel reservation

I had a booking for May 4-7 for a hotel in Opelika, AL. Clearly Expedia states there are free cancelations and changes (up until the day before.

I contacted them today - more than a month in advance and said I needed to change it to May 5-7.

They said they can't change they can only cancel and rebook and there are no rooms (2 queens)) that I had reserved available. This of course ignores the fact that I already have a room with 2 queens for the 5-7.

I was then told - they had a different room (1 queen ) which they could sell me for the 5-7 - but oh by the way - the price is 50% more per room than what I had booked for the 2 queens. VERY misleading marketing.

I will not use them again!

Desired outcome: They should honor what they advertise - free changes. It is more than 30 days in advance and they said free up until May 3. But that is not any where close to what they tell me now!

Expedia Car rental

On 3/22 I arrived in Memphis at 9:30pm. I had an Expedia reservation & confirmation for Hertz. I did not have my husband’s credit card with me, but had the number, expiration, and security #. The two rude employees (one named Maddie) said I had to have the physical card. I asked if they could take another card, but the same account? They replied no. I called Expedia - no help. I called Hertz - no help. I ultimately had to cancel the reservation. It was 11pm. I had my daughter with me in a strange city & we had to drive an hour and a half to our destination. I canceled the reservation and then asked the two Hertz employees how much to rent the car I just canceled. The one not named Maddie said “we don’t have any cars.” Unreal, unprofessional, and just malicious! Good luck with that karma! There was only one other rental car place open. Thank God for Avis and Shay, who got out of her chair, went upstairs to the parking deck & found a car for us. Guess what car rental agency I’ll be using going forward? Not Hertz! Guess what travel site I won’t be using due to their complete lack of interest in helping me - Expedia!

Expedia Car rental

Hertz with Expedia

Really bad service. Rented a car for two weeks. Got a car for one day. Double charged me. Moreover double the amount! They keep you in a loop to get the best price s on the internet. Call you the day of telling you they don't have a car. They pass on cars to people who are higher paying or rent on the spot. They still have availability online showing they have cars. While they tell people who booked in advance for a good pricing that they don't have car available. It'ss a huge huge scam. The cars are never clean or taken care of. When you need a car you need a car. The reservation there is a scam. The happy faces to get you in the door is a scam. You can picture how this ended. They charged me and told me they could not explain why I gotta charged for a week and walked out the door with no car

Desired outcome: I would like Expedia and Hertz to give me a call and work this out apology more over my money back and anything else they could do.

Expedia Expedia: delta king hotel

Re: As it relates to our reservation at the Delta King/ Sacramento, California for 3/22.

We had the following issues.

• When we tried to Park at the Delta King and we were denied. The attendant thought our front tire look like it was going flat. As it was late we had to find parked in a lot down the street for $17.50 for the night. In the morning I went to Les Schwab who checked our tire and found it to be ok as “high profile tires on Mercedes Benz look low”.

• When we tried to register, we gave the clerk our confirmation number. He asked for a photo id which I did not have. My wife gave him hers which he could not accept her photo ID (same last name).

• He suggested we “cancel our reservation” that was in my name which we did. And my wife “make a new reservation” at the desk which she did.

• The charge for the new reservation was $281.30 (by $42.33) which was lower in price than the reservation through Expedia for the same room.

I am requesting the Expedia issue a refund for the $323.63 Expedia charges to my credit card as we only needed the one room. And, please let me know if in fact “Expedia always searches for the best price” or is it just marketing. Our other reservations throughout our trip were great!

Expedia Poor service

We booked a flight with Expedia

We then flew the first leg - then found out the connection time was too short - and thus we missed our second leg

We ended up arriving one day late - to our destination - and thus missed a meeting

We have found a way to have the meeting in NYC - and thus asked Expedia to simply change the departure date for one leg - of our return trip

Expedia states we can not change one leg of the trip

We are now forced to do a return trip to NYC - from PBI - to allow us to depart on the originally, scheduled flight

We do have insurance - and consider it a waste - to have to claim against the insurance - for this intermediate trip

Desired outcome: Simply change the departure date - PBI to EWR from Mar 31 to Mar 28The remaining flights - returning to our home - can stay the same

Expedia Expedia's option of "change your flight" turned into "erase your flight"!

Complain Expedia. I wanted to change my flight. So I followed the steps of "change your flight" on Expedia, however, I quit the process when Expedia asked me to pay the whole amount of money on the flight I wanted to change into. Then I found that my original itinerary total fee changed from $863 to $345.2. OMG! I just lost $517.8 by trying to change one of my flight! I was upset and from my file on Expedia, the flight from SEA to ORD just was changed into $0 and it is gone forever!

Desired outcome: I hope Expedia can explain to me what had happened to my flight and why I lost the original flight by just trying to change it.

Expedia Hampton Inn in Ardmore, Ok

Where do you start with this? I have already complained to the Hilton management team. I asked around 730 p.m. tonight on 3/18/2023 to have my room switched because someone tried to enter into the adjoining door of my room. You can't make this stuff up. Alex who was on the front desk advised me that he was sold out. I fact checked this with the Hilton 800 number and they said there were rooms for tonight. I then cancelled the rest of my reservation. Unfortunately he wouldn't offer a wake up call. Very nasty and threatened to kick me off premises. Very unprofessional.

Desired outcome: Free night stay.

Expedia Flights booked

Very simple booking, from perth on the 4th of may and returning on the 16th may. The booking was made on the 16 march around midday. But when the emailed flight details come through with a spelling mistake instead of may 16th was mar. Therefor my return flights melbourne to perth had moved to march 16. Now im stuck trying to sort out this mess, spending hours on the phone. As this was a thursday we couldnt cancel or get in contact anyone. So now second day on hold for two hours so far.
