Store Manager - Chris (Female)
When I arrived at the store, 2pm on June 17,2022, Temperature being 103. I immediately noticed 4 children, (ages 6,4,2, and 1) standing outside the store unsupervised. The 1- and 2-year-old boys were only wearing pants, no shoes, and no shirts. The 4- and 6-year-old girls were dressed in winter looking clothing. I attempted to make contact with the children to ask where their parents were, they did not speak English. I then brought the children inside the foyer of the store, after they were safely inside the store in cooler temperatures, I made contact with the store manager, Chris. I made her aware of what I had just encountered. Chris then proceeded to tell me that she knew the father was inside the store shopping and that it was fine that the children were standing outside the store in 103-degree temperatures and unsupervised. I am still astonished that a store manager would allow this. After I made her aware, how inappropriate it was that she knew about this and was allowing it, I made her aware that I would be contacting the authorities and reporting her inappropriate behavior. After contacting the authorities, I saw the store manager returning with the father of the children. The father took the children and left before the authorities were able to speak with them. During my wait for the police to arrive on scene, I had numerous customers that were leaving the store, stop and thank me for doing something about the children being left unsupervised and in the heat. Many of them made statements about not returning to the store due to the store manager knowingly allowing these children to be neglected. I did make a report with the Fort Worth Police Department.
Desired outcome: The store manager needs more training on what should be allowed in a place of employment.
