poor service / dog lost / false selling and response
Hi Please see all the attach documents that I have been sending to ADT security. I have phoned them like 100 times and they never available I will leave messages and if i'm lucky they will maybe phone me back . Please note that I'm still waiting for someone to attend to my property and contract with out luck this has been going on for months now, they have lost my dog, They falsely sold the system to me, Respose times time poor, Dont check my property just report all in order. Please can you help as I dont know what else to do with them to get this problems sorted out. My email thessa.[protected]@yahoo.com I send all corespondense and I think I have more I phoned again twice today and left messages but no one phones me back to get this sorted. They will contact me as soon as they see I made contact with Beeld or someone else after that no response.
fraudulent billing
I had home security service with adt for 20 years and always paid my bill in advance for the entire year ahead. Sold my house and called adt to cancel service in november2010 effective january 1, 2011.
They continued to send me bills for 2011. I sent them 2 letters and called them twice on the phone. They pretended that I never cancelled the service and owe them for 5 months.
I have reported this to my state's attorney fraud division. Will never do business with this crooked company again.
alarm useless
Buyer and User Beware
We returned from a vacation to find our house had been broken into.
But we had an alarm from ADT, so we "thought" we were protected. We soon found out no alarm had been sent because the burglars had cut the phone and cable lines. Lines cut no alarm. As we found out we had to have a backup system. When the phone lines are cut there is no signal sent telling the alarm company this. So the only high tech tool burglar needs is a scissors to cut the lines . So much for the digital barrier shown on the commercials . We were never told that our system was worthless without a backup. So if you have ADT check your system. If you are looking for a system look elsewhere. The help I received after the robbery was non- existent. They are too big and don't care if you are unhappy or even cancel. I could go on but hope the point is made .

unproffesional and unscrupolous
I have also learned the hard way!. I cancelled my service with adt on the 9th march 2011 and specifically asked the accounts department whether I will be billed again in april as I was leaving the premises end of march and was told I would not be billed again, lo and behold on the 2 of april I was debited once again!. After being pushed from pillar to post and ending up with a jaques who sweetly told me it is a calender month that's why it went off, after venting my spleen somewhat on him and in no way being personal towwards him he put the phone down on me. If he still corrected me or asked me to remian calm I would not have gone on a campaign such as this but I only recently found out from one of their salespeople (Warren) that I was actually entitled to 1 (0ne) years free response as my wife had passed away and the contract was originally signed in her name. Nice, once again no one communicates with the client but rather let it slip though and let the customer pay religiously every month. Shame on you adt I am so glad the cpa has come into effect, this will hopefully take care of scoundrels such as yourselves in the long run! This is the exact same complaint that I placed on hellopeter.com, I believe the public must be informed of companies such as these and not just willingly put their signatures to paper by believing everything that is explained to them by the respective salesperson. Shop around and get other companies to give you quotes on security, the figures speak for themselves as there is daily valid complaints about this particular company.

This is a know risk with security systems. How did you think your alarm communicated, pixie dust?
we are frustrated and disappointed in adt as we expected much better service from such a large firm
An ADT sales rep got us to sign up for service by promising us a month-to-month plan that could be canceled at anytime for any reason. “Nothing to lose” he said. In a classic bait-and-switch we were placed on a 2 year plan with a $500 early termination fee.
We discovered this by accident when contacting ADT for an unrelated issue. Over the past 6 months we have spoken to countless ADT customer service reps and managers, while they believe we are telling the truth, all tell us there is nothing that can be done.
One rep went as far as to tell us ADT is in the business of making money and therefore would not alter our contract as it’s just not company policy to do so. The sales tactics of the ADT sales rep who sold us our contract were both unethical and illegal yet ADT refuses accountability.
We are frustrated and disappointed in ADT as we expected much better service from such a large firm. Google “ADT lied” and you will see we are not alone.
Contracts are intended to protect both parties. In Virginia there is 72 hours in witch a person may opt to rescind a contract. Unfortunately ... there are always "exceptions to the rules" ADT became Platinum Protect, the monitoring companies have changed, the sales persons are no longer with the company, personal checks, and payment information is "lost”, accounts are not updated, random account changes followed by billing issues ... Perpetual problems and issues CSR calls and resolutions. I will not, ever, do business with this company, ever, again. With this experience turning out as it has, I will do considerably more research in the future before making a commitment of any form.
empty promises and unauthorised debit orders
Complaint after complaint! This company has really disappointed me with empty promises and lies. I have no faith in them or their ability to resolve issues. I put my faith in the company with the expectations and promises from the sales person. To date I am having to still deal with unkept promises. Signing with a security company should leave you will some...

Adt stop calling me! I have a new business line, I work from home, and this # is on the national do not call registry. I get repeated calls everyday. I have asked them to stop. I am so sick of it. Stop calling my business line, and do not call me in general!

ADT is not perfect but if you speak to the right person they will solve your problem rather quickly.
For rebates Deals Specials and or billing and technical problem I use this number normally a supervisor will help you [protected] mon thru friday 8am to 11pm saturday 9am to 10am sunday 10am to 6pm @ eastern time hope this helps you all. I use this number for additional credit and tech issues. 8) But all in all ADT need to get there stuff together
When the salesman of ADT came to me for signing a contract he did not tell me it was a 3 year contract. I thought I was only taking over the rest of the previous person's contract. He also did not tell me that I have to buy out the rest of the 3 years if I leave before that. He also told me that it does not cost anything if they come out to my house.
I moved in the house on Dec 1 2009 and in the first month my alarm went off a few times. Every time I phoned them or they phoned me and I told them there was nothing wrong. They did not inform their cars about it and they still came out. Then one of the chaps who came out told me they only come out 3 times a month for free, after that you have to pay. I then phoned this sales agent and he told me that was wrong and if I receive an account I only have to phone him and he will see that I do not pay. Afterwards I found out that it was a lie and I have to pay.
Nobody from ADT came to the house to show me how the alarm works and when I phoned the salesman to find out he gave me the wrong advice and the alarm went off if I did what he told me. When I phoned the office a woman told me I should have read the contract before signing it or I should have asked somebody to read it to me. I am an old woman with only one eye and cannot read the fine letters and at that moment I was staying in a retirement village with only old people around me.
That was not all that happened. I started getting sms's from them telling me my battery was low. I phoned the technical department a few times and every time they told me they would go into the matter. You see I told them if I signed a new contract for 3 years they should have put in a new battery. Now I have to pay about R800 for them to put in a new battery. Apparently the technical department is not part of ADT. I phoned lots of times and spoke to different people but with no results. I feel I was mislead from the start about this contract and that it must be cancelled and they must pay me back all the money I paid over to them from the start. If I knew about all this I would never have signed the contract. Can you please assist me in this matter.
I too have had phone calls (every single day). I have actually pushed the button and talked with a live person and asked them to stop...guess what? they hung up on me. And then I continue to get the calls. This cannot be legal. And I have news for ADT...I would never get one of their products nor would I sign up for their service. I would recommend that ANYONE who gets a call from ADT ...do not ever buy from these people
company
This place is a Joke.I went four times for an interview and got nothing but Great comments from each manager. Ive got 12 years in Sales and they loved everything about my resume and Bacground . The last guy that talked to me talked to me more about church than the freakin job, asked if I was a god loving man, what denomination, and so aon, would not shut up about it. And because I answered wrongly I am sure on a few of those because I was sick of getting hounded on religion. I went from hey you start next week to never hearing back and noone returning a call. Found a great job after that and worked out for the best. Best thing I can tell you if they are real is Dont drink the koolaid.

The people saying that those who have issues are just cry babies thatcould not do that job. Well I could do it, and was good at it. So please tell me how this is okay...
My days changed last minute, as I was leaving, being told I had to come back in the next day, when I was off, and had plans.
Marcia, the CEO, has a neice that is a manager, Hulm giving his kid a summer job, a VP that made two of his daughters managers, Marcia's ex husband was given a job where he just yells at poeple all day, a manager in one office his wife is a manager in another office. Hulm hiring his brother in law in, and pushing him to a higher level that those starting with him, then giving him perferd calls over everyone else. Seeing a trend?
How about the person who was called at 10PM and told they were being transfered, and had to be 100 miles away for training by 8am the next day?
The managers getting in trouble for routing the calls to their friends, and leaving other people hung out to dry.
Making people pray before meetings.
Changing someone's hours at 8pm the night before.
Managers who had to have three different girls report them for sexaul harrasment before anything was done (they moved his desk)
Forcing people to go to church.
Dragging girls into the office, and then sending them out in tears.
Just because they don't want to hire you doesn't mean they are not legitimate. Get over yourself.
handed over to itc wrongfully
After lightning damage to my alarm system ADT send out a techincal team for the repairs and advised me prior to the repairs that the repairs is fully covered i.t.o. a policy that I have with them. After the repairs was done I asked them to return on two seperate ocassions to attend to specifics as the repairs were not completed. A few weeks later I received a call (just after I terminated the contract due to the difficult economic climate) to tell me that I owe them for the repairs as the 'policy' that I had does not cover the full amount of repairs. I corresponded with Anette Jacobs, cleared up a number of issues, and was told, in writing, that she will request an investigation from techincal and will keep me posted. This never happened, last week, 8 months after Anette undertook to have the claim issue looked at I received an sms fro ITC that I have now been 'handed overblacklisted' for the above - and the technical team did not even bother to return to complete the repairs! IT APPEARS THAT WHEN ADT REALISE THAT THEY ARE IN THE WRONG - THEY SIMPLY IGNORE THE ISSUE (AND THE CLIENT) AND HOPE THE PROBLEM WILL DISAPPEAR!
ripe off, poor customer, too expensive
Scam! Offer same product as everyone else but charge 3x as much. Lock you into a 3 year contract. Looks for decent credit score so you don't want to ruin it by breaking contract. Treat employees like crap and won't even give them discount on services, cheats on commission and refuse to give their tax id no. Eventually company will go down because of poor customer service dealing with noncorporate secondary companies that resale for them. Non competive in todays competitive market. Don't believe the lies the sales reps tell you. They are thieves that steal from the company and steal from customers...I know someone that works for them.

was a former Broadview Customer...ADT bought out company...when I went to cancel monitoring, they tried to get me to stay by lowering my payments in half...why was this not offered prior to me leaving? Then they stop the monitoring as requested (which I told them I wanted just to use system locally as a home security system)...they fail to tell me system will no longer work at all. I am on the way out and keypad says to call their 800 number. Call them...rude CSR tells me I do not own system and I have to pay $600 for it and hangs up. I file a complaint and they give me a number to call which I did. Very nice gentleman. He says billing will bill for system ($600) and he can send into the que the command to convert system to local. We even discussed payment options not to pay the $600 in one shot. Said takes 24-48 hours for system to change. 3 Days later nothing changes...I call..woman tells me he sent the order to wrong dept...it is in his email at work there...he told me wrong, $600 has to be paid up front and even them will take another 48 hours before system is live locally.
They are idiots and ###s. Stay far away from ADT!
serious lapse in service
This is an account of our experience with the home security service
provider ADT Security
We left for a two week holiday on the 8th December. That morning, we
changed all the batteries and tried to arm the system. We encountered
error signals and over the phone with ADT Security help desk, we tried
various things (including triggering the alarm at 7am in the morning)
which ultimately did not work so we asked them to send a technician.
They said that they needed to check the schedule and get back to us.
We did not receive a call and I had to call them again from the
airport to ask them to call my father-in-law to schedule an
appointment.
When we returned to Singapore on the 23rd December we were surprised
to see their technician at our house and were horrified to be told by
my father-in-law that the alarm had not been working for the whole
time that we were away. He told us that they had called and told him
that the earliest appointment would be the 22nd. He figured by that
time it would make more sense for them to come on the 23rd when we
were around.
ADT's technician announced that 2 out of the 4 batteries in the motion
sensors were weak even though we had changed them all on the day that
we had left.
We called the help line, got ourselves to customer service team leader -Azman.
We wanted to know
1. What did they think they were selling? If they are selling a
security service how could they knowingly leave the house unprotected
knowing that their system was down. How can their answer be that it
was First Come First Serve for technical issues?
2. We had emphasized that the house was going to be empty except for
the maid and there would be occasions when she would have to leave the
house unattended. It was very clear that there was nothing that
anybody in the house could have done to arm the system after spending
an hour on the phone with their help desk.
3. Why should we trust ADT with the security of our home when the
customer service could tell us that service and maintenance is only on
a first come first serve basis and that the earliest date could only
be the 22nd when we made the phone call on the 8th.
At this point Azman interjected and said that the appointment for the
22nd was not set on the 8th but on the 10th. Which meant that they did
not even get back to my father-in-law when they knew we had problems
that day.
As he could do little more than to mouth the usual
we-could-have-done-better lines, my wife asked him to get somebody who
could give her a proper account of how the lapse occurred and what is
being done to get back to her. Three days after her third phone call
to them, his superior called up, offered the same
'we-could-have-done-better' lines, missing the point of
'accountability' completely. When we ask them to write to us with a
report on the lapse, their answer was that they cannot 'write' to us
as a matter of policy. She went on to offer a waiver of 1 month
security fees. It is saddening that a company as big as ADT Security
obviously does not understand what is expected of a security service
non working system
My alarm system has been down for 9 days and since weather is bad for 1 day they are rescheduling for 7 more days. When i told them not acceptable I wanted it fixed now. My airconditioners has already been stolen. They said sorry but nothing they could do. They could reschedule me for 7 days but could not reschedule the work order for next week for the ones they already had scheduled. What good is an alarm system I pay $5, 000 dollars for and $50 dollars a month if it does not work. Told if they can't repair I want it taken out. They said I will have to pay for the rest of my contract to have it removed. I guess I can pay for 3 more years have no alarm and they will not service it in that 3 years. To be ugly when you call they put you on hold for 30 minutes at a time thinking it will make you simmer down. They transfere you to atleast 5 other people and you have to tell your story again and again for them to say sorry nothing we can do.
lies and money scam
Adt is horrible: we had brinks, who became broadview, who became adt. We moved to another home. The move of your system is supposed to be "free". The new home was bigger than the old one, so more equipment was needed... We understood that. The quote for the new system was rediculously out of touch with reality. I asked for a better quote, and told them I would have to shop around if they couldn't do better. They came back with the same quote and didn't seem to care that I was going to shop around.
We called guardian and they had a much, much better deal, so we went with them. Now, even though we were near the end of the adt contract, they claim we owe them $329.00 because we broke the contract. I appealed to their customer loyalty director, and just like a little trained monkey, he kicked back a "form letter" to me to deny my request.
Bottom line: if you move, they will not move your system for free. They will instead, jack up your installation so high it will blow your mind. Then, you can either go with their system that is not competive, or you can pay them $329.00 to walk away. Either way, you lose money.
I would never do business with this company again, and would warn anyone else about this who is thinking about using them.
I broke my ADT contract early and only paid $100 fee (which was clearly stated in the contract that i signed). Read your contract and / or make better business decesions.
Ridiculous is spelled with RI not RE.
no repair service for 1 week
I had the ADT security system installed about 6 months ago & since the past 2 days the front door alarm is showing a fault. When I called the company I was told to run some tests after which she said it must be a fault with the device & that they need to send out a technician. The next available date is 10 days later. I explained to the lady that I was leaving the country for an extended period of time & needed the device to be working, so that I could leave knowing that my house is secure. She told me that she could guide me thru a process wherein I could bypass the front door & just secure the back door! So, if the burglars come in thru the front door, its ok! When I asked to be transferred to a supervisor, I was told I could get emergency services by paying 285$ / hr of service! And absolutely no regrets or offer other solution. When I said i'd like to disconnect the service was told that I could call back tomorrow & pay up the terms of the next 5 years contract & cancel the contract. So basically, you pay for 5 years for no monitoring or partial monitoring!

Sorry for your situation - and this is why more and more folks are turning to self-installed systems that are completely wireless. In an event like this, a faulty sensor could be replaced overnight - at no cost to you, if under warranty, and for as little as $30 if out of warranty (depending on the company). That's how our company operates, anyway, and we are not the only DIY company out there. No wonder ADT has a variable record for online reviews. You are right to try to escalate your complaint - maybe you just need to aim higher, like the branch manager - and threaten all kinds of things if you don't get what you need. Like a bad review on BBB - they do not like that... Good luck.
phone call during night for non-important reasons
Over this last weekend, either late evening or early morning, I have received numerous calls from ADT pointing out that my land line is not connected to their alarm system. This despite me telling ADT more than two years ago that the phone line had been disconnected. When attempting to rectify this with the call center, [protected] or [protected], the call is either disconnected or dropped by ADT or I get put through to someone who can barely understand English. When I subsiquently ask for a senior manager I am told none are available.
how do adt do installations?
Adt came to our house to do an installation with no equipment! They had no ladders or drills - these are surely basic installation tools for an alarm system? Their installation team spent 3 hours lazing around our house because they did not have equipment. When we asked why some of the installation (That did not require these tools) were not done, we were told they were on a lunch break. What? After spending the past 2 hours doing nothing? When we complained to adt, they said they outsourced installations - all well and fine, but it is their brand so they need to ensure that installations are handled correctly. Furthermore, their sales rep has since given us the run around and 2 weeks later, we still do not have our very simple installation complete!
Frustrated!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
This is a great example of why several alarm companies have moved to systems that are easily set up by the homeowner, with all wireless equipment and cellular monitoring: not only is the cellular monitoring safer, but it removes the need for a land line (and a much more complicated installation). The good systems (and our is one of them) only take about a half hour to install - fully programmed, no wires, and no tools required. We use all UL listed wireless GE alarm componenets - the best you can find.
As for your situation, you need to escalate it to the local manager. Outsourcing is no excuse, and frankly is a bit surprising for the largest alarm company in the US. It is possible that you are dealing with an ADT authorized dealer, and not ADT - and here is an article that tells the difference. Worth the read.
http://frontpointblog.com/2010/09/08/will-the-real-adt-please-stand-up-explaining-the-dealer-program/
Good luck to you!
adt armed response surprises by not helping
Alarm receieved on 19 or 20 Feb 2010, we asked that a car be sent yet it never pitched up! We found out the next day that the guard had decided our 5ft 6inch gate was to high for him. This is despite our mother being home alone and despite the sales person saying the height of the gate shouldnt be a problem!
Guess what, it is a problem ! we havent got the service we are paying for & we havent had any response from Robert Hood at ADT.
Mr Hood, is always in management meetings, not at his desk or out of the office.
To crown it all, he must be the only person that doesnt have a cellphone! Either that or everyone is instructed not to give it out.
Seeing that he hasnt responded to numerous messages over the last 10 days, he must be a very busy person.
We are not very happy (to say the least), and we are less than happy at the response and attitude from ADT.
rebate runaround
Had ADT Home security system installed August 2010, still waiting for $200 rebate I sent ALL REQUIRED info in for. Nothing but run arounds for EVERYONE we talk to. Latest info from them was check was mailed on 12/18/2010. I am still waiting. Don't do business with this company. one broken promise after another. I hope I never need to find out if the system actually works. Stay away from this scam of a company. If I get no satisfaction within the next month I am reporting to the state attorney general.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Good point - transparency is a big advantage to working with some companies, and these rebate plans are a great example of something companies do to lure you in. They know that lots of folks never send in the rebate form, so the company makes out. I compare it to the gift cards also, where they know that lots of people never get around to using the cards, and thee is even a term for the unspent money on the cards - "breakage" is what they call it. Give me company that just does it all upfront, and by the book, without the games. That would be refreshing. There are companies out there like that, even in the realm of alarm systems. By the way, if you decide you want to get a replacement system at any point, make sure you shop for a cellular alarm - they are much safer, no phone line for an intruder to cut.
service never hooked up properly
In december 2001 we called adt and arranged for them come to our new home and install a security system. The adt technician came on 12/09/2001 and installed our the system into our newly built home. Since that date we have had our monthly monitoring fee of $42 withdrawn from our checking account.in november 2010 we decided to switch security companies and called ackerman. The technicians came out on november 13th and hooked us up to their system using the same equipment we had installed by adt in december 2001. During the hook-up process the technicians were stunned and called us down to the garage to show us that when our initial system was installed, a mistake was made by the adt technician and we were never hooked up through the phone lines to adt, we had been paying for a monitoring service for 9 years that we have never received. We were not hooked up to the outside world. I called and tried to resolve this with adt, I called 1-800=262-3009 and I spoke with kirk and who referred me to kevia corley. She told me that they are not responsible and that there is nothing they can do. I believe that we are entitled to every single dollar that we have paid to them for the past 9 years, including the $162 we paid to adt for installation.
Monthly we opened a window or a door and the alarm went off. We said - ah, it works! :-)
We were not given any information about 'testing' with ADT. Also...in 9 years we NEVER received even one phone call or letter from them.
new alarm again not working over the week end
I have reported last week that my newly installed alarm was not working. ADT sent out a technitian by the name of Victor. He tested the alarm and found nothing wrong. The last call logged was the previous Friday evening. the whole week my alarm was fine. This morning my alarm was activated by one of the outside passive VX40's. I never recieved a notification call from the control room. So I phoned the control room and asked why dont they phone when the alarm is activated. Maphula reported that the system do not show an alarm activation, last activation was Friday night at 20:10. I then asked for a alarm test period of 10 minutes. I have tested the alarm in that period a number of times. I received no SMS of alarm activations. I called the control room again and asked them to check. No activation logged on the ADT control room system. Now I an again stuck with an alarm that do not work over the week end. I cannot go away because this alarm is not sending its signal to the control room.
They are offering a new platform called "Pulse" that you might want to check out, because it can actually notify you by text or email when an alarm event happens - or even when a door opens - and that makes it really easy to see if your system is working, without having to go through the bother with the central station. Our company offers a similar product (more established, actually) with apps for iPhone, Droid, and Blackberry - so I know how much people like these features.
Anyway, it is worth a call to see what they tell you. There is a higher monthly involved, and you may need to upgrade some equipment, but they should be able to tell you all that on the phone. Thee has been some initial confusion about the Pulse product, since it's a really big departure for ADT, but eventually they should get it right.
