I set up EFT for monthly payments so I don't have to worry about late payments. I bought 2 items back in 2021 one in November and the other item in December. Both items are supposed to be 24-month financing with 0 interest in 24-month months. I did set up 10/2023 on my calendar to pay my account for the entire amount so I don't have to pay any charges. Not knowing that one of the item was listed as18 month financing only. I called on October 24, 2023, to let them know and made them aware of the situation. The person that assist me stated she will get the problem resolve and would request for adjustment. The same day I asked if I could pay and get that clear so I don't have to worry about it. The representative made some adjustments and then I paid everything in full. The representative stated your balance should show up as 0 in couple of weeks or so. To this day nothing has been resolved. The worst part is they report me to the credit bureau as delinquent. This should not happen while the issue is still on going. I have a very high credit score and because of this it completely ruins me. I have called many times since October and all they said was we will send this to someone. I'm a busy working mother. Working Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. This has been really difficult for me.

Desired outcome: I would appreciate it if they dispute all the extra charges on my account. I have paid for the items in full balance.

Hello sir or mam.

We are extremely sorry to hear of the issue. Please understand we do not have your personal information pulled up on our end. We are simply going off of what you've listed in this complaint.

Our understanding is that you made two purchases thinking both would be 24 months without interest. In actuality, only one was 24 months, the other was 18 months. Each purchase required minimum monthly payments.

Being meticulous, you wisely set up automatic monthly transfers to pay the minimum required payments and was prepared to pay off the balance when it became due.

Here's where the problem occurs. Because of the misunderstanding, you waited six months beyond the balance due date on one of the two balances, meaning the interest free terms were invalidated.

What might be a good idea is contacting the payment hotline and actually paying the amount due. They'll supply you with a receipt to show the account is paid in full. This does two important things for you. One is that it settles the balance which insures intrest, late fees, collection and legal costs do not further accrue. Two is that you resolve the issue of Best Buy reassigning the debt, being told at some point that you're required to appear in court for the debt, damaging your credit score further and having leans placed upon property.

After settling the debt, you can go back to request an adjustment but you won't have to worry about the negative side of the debt.

Hopefully this helps resolves any issues. If it does not, please let us know.

This was actually a mistake on their end. Made a call about early 2022 18mons financing should be 24mons financing and they told me they would change it to 24mons. After that, I trusted them that they would do their part to make it right. I guess someone dropped the ball and made it look like it was my fault. Credit score is ruined.

Hi Ms Woodward.

We assume you were the original poster.

Do you have anything, other than what you're saying, to show this should have been a 24 month, interest free purchase? Many times there's a limit based upon the amount spent as to the length of the interest free timeframe. The concern is that, even though the secondary purchase, combined with the initial purchase would have qualified, the secondary purchase didn't qualify on its own.

You are right that, as meticulous as you seem, it would have been advantageous to have confirmed the terms had been corrected back two years ago.

Where your credit rating is of concern, we would consider getting the balance paid. That will at least, "stop the bleeding." Then, if there's concern over the amount, work with the finance department for a possible refund. The alternative is to allow the meter to continue to run. The balance will escalate exponentially and at some point Best Buy has the right to reassign the debt to aggressive collectors.

It's just the right way to handle it from your perspective.
