Avis Car rental

Rental agreement number: [protected]

I was charged for one day of driving the car for 80 miles $ 4800 dollars because of employee puts in charge as 16000 miles!
picked up car on 6/6 at Detroit at 9:10pm, returned to flint airport (75 miles away) on 6/7/2017 at 4:25pm

how does your system allow such charge to happen without a stop, considering that your employees don't think they should stop and look at such a stupid entry.

Why did i need to call 4 times and wait each time 45 mins to get this to be corrected?

why did this huge charge needed approval from a supervisor to be reversed, why should not have the system stopped the user and asked a sup to review before it was processed initially if the reversal needed a supervisor?

why do I need to wait 10 business days for you to process this reversal while your company did not wait 10 days for get the money processed as a charge?!

Avis Given wrong car, long wait, charged more money, unauthorized card charges

The date was Wednesday, June 7th, 2017

We flew into the John Wayne airport on June 7th, 2017. There were hardly any people in line at any other rental car place. But, there was a very long line at AVIS. There were only 2 people working. An man and a woman. They helped 1 or 2 people and then the man said..."I am going to lunch". And, then just left the 1 woman to deal with the big line of people by herself. And, no one ever replaced him. In fact, when we finally got up to the counter a few he came back from lunch. That is how long it was taking.

When we got to the counter. She told us that we bought insurance from a third party and that we should not have done that. And, she charged us $90 for more insurance when I already paid $70 for insurance. Then, she made us believe she was giving us an upgrade then was going to charge us over $1, 000. When I was told over the phone my total for 6 days was $253.00 for an SUV. We said we could not do that. She changed it but swiped my debit card for $1286.80. So, I had a hold on my credit card for 2 or 3 days for that amount when we were all the way in California from Iowa. I kept calling AVIS and they kept telling me they didn't see the hold but, my bank was agreeing with me and there was that hold. It was very upsetting and frustrating. I had to take money out of our savings account just to cover bills because of this mistake by AVIS.

Then, she kept telling us we were getting a better deal. I kept saying I just wanted to spend the $253 that we were told. But, somehow we ended up having to spend $423.59 and we didn't even get an SUV. We ended up with a Volkswagen Passat for 5 people. The kids were very squished in the back.

It was a very bad experience all around! I would greatly appreciate someone getting back to me.

Avis Switched 12 to 7 passenger van and asking for more money?

After spending hours with customer service I am forced to report this here. Reservation number 01898980US6.. Case number [protected]..

I made reservation over phone for a 12 passenger Van more than a month back. I have confirmation email from Budget that said " Ford Transit Connect Wagon or similar". I did confirm with another agent next day of vehicle size(called for email change) and was told its 12 passenger. But now somehow reservation is changed to Ford Transit 7?

We are party of 8. And planned trip next week.. I have talked to various representative over phone yesterday and today. Last one Gabriel - customer service supervisor from Tijuana.. He told me to wait for 3-5 business days after sending your documents for review or pay $1000 more for similar vehicle that I originally booked? My trip is next week.

I am hoping reputed company like Budget can hold their reservation and not bait/switch.

Avis Additional charges

I'll on occasion get $30.00 charges months later for tolls and fines that are not mine or I've already taken care of.

Example 1: $30.00 charge for using a toll in Chicago. I paid for the toll and even had a receipt. They state that it's an administration fee to process and correct the error.

Example 2: $30.00 charge for a parking violation that happened three months prior from the charge (in March). Informed Avis that I paid the violation. Again, an administration fee to transfer liability. I wasn't even aware of a parking ticket violation till only a week ago and paid the violation to the city directly. Doesn't matter ... seems like if Avis has to get involved there is a $30.00 administration fee.

Avis Vehicle rented

I had made a reservation, at least 3 months in advance for a Peugoet 3008 or Hyundai Tucson both 5 dr/5psgr or similar. (Automatic)
Upon arriving I was told neither such vehicle was available because the mileage that was on these vehicles, they had there, would require us to return them part way through our 2 week stay, for service. Now, that is ridiculous when you are on a 2 week vacation and traveling throughout Scotland. This is poor planning, by Budget, when knowing that far in advance of the rental. It is your job to have the requested vehicle serviced properly and ready for rental.
Instead I was given a Mercedes that did not accommodate the luggage, in the trunk, for 3 people and we had to put one suitcase on the back seat, thus crowding whomever was riding in the back.
I am registering this complaint do to the shabby reason for not getting the requested type vehicle. When asked about any SUV, I was told none were available. I just feel that this was not a last minute rental, but one done in plenty of time, to have the type requested.

Avis Not honoring terms and conditions of a coupon

I was refused a rental rate of $229 for a minivan, when the terms and conditions of the coupon clearly stated that the coupon can be used with an SUV or MINIVAN. When on bjswholesale.com and then you click travel/car rentals Avis comes up and it states "SUV or Minivan $229". When you click "get offer" you are taking to avis.com where terms & cond state minivan or SUV. However, coupon doesn't attach to minivan. This is FALSE advertising. I spoke to 12 different representatives and was given 3 different phone numbers and no one can help me.

Avis Rental car service

I was refused a rental car by an Avis Employee, due to age, financial standing and malfeasance. The employee accused me of being responsible for damage to a previous rental. I did rent the vehicle but the car was damaged by another driver in the resident driveway where I presently reside. I was not inside not driving the locked and parked vehicle. On more than one occasion if I get my rental at a discount. They refuse to rent to me. B a h !
Do they know more about me than they are claiming to know?
Definitely poor public relations ...

Avis Unable to close contract after returning the car.

Last Friday (May 26th 2017) I have returned my rental car at the JFK Federal Circle location and I would like to download my e-receipt but for some reason in the system of Avis my contract is not closed yet. During returning the car, my rental car was scanned and checked for damage and fuel level and the Avis employee confirmed to me that the car has been returned succesfully. After contacting the Avis helpdesk I was advised to visit the counter physically but i have already returned to my home country, the netherlands. The helpdesk employee then advised me to simply try again tommorow, if the contract would be possibly closed by then as the employee could not reach out to the location because it was busy. I have felt very ignored, no custumor helpdesk ever advised me to just try again tommorow in case the custumor has an issue. I have asked for a direct number of the return location and I have attempted to contact the JFK location for 6 times. A voice is saying immediatly that the location is busy even during the night. All incoming calls are blocked by default for this location, not very convenient. After the voice saying the location is busy, i'm automatically trasferred back to the general helpdesk. So i am stuck in a loop. Today i have spoken to the general location after another attempt to reach out to the JFK location being busy again (at 5:30 in the morning) and I have been told to call another helpdesk at a different number, hence I am still trying to get my receipt. A simple receipt. On top of that i was not very pleased with the car I received, it was not clean, it was dirty and it had a bad smell, it smelled the entire two weeks I've rented it. I have received a smoking verchicle and I was not asked for this. Overall I am not very pleased with Avis. I took a very long wait at JFK, about 50 minutes and another 20 minutes for being helped at the counter (a very old DOS-looking program was used at the counter to reach out the rental cars to custumors).

Avis Car rental

I have arranged for a rental car with Budget thru Costco Travel for today 5.28.17 for 2 days at the McCarran Rental Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. After waiting for over 20 minutes to speak with someone, I was greeted by Jake Gomez 14008. Jake spoke in a loud tone saying "next" after greeting me Jake inquired about some standard rental information which I provided (where i was going, hotel i was staying at, etc.) however when he inquired about a "2nd phone number" i replied that i did not have one. Jakes response was well then i cannot rent you a car. I was surprised by this as other rental car companies only required my phone number. Jake tell me this is for emergencies. I replied well then dial 911 (a little sarcastic, i know) but didn't feel the need to provide my mothers phone number. I requested to speak with his Manager. Jake brings Michael M. 14091 who states hes the manager and that hes declining my rental (due to my remark) and to get out of here. I inquired why a second number was mandatory as other rental companies did not require 2 numbers. Michael then gets J.T. Gomez. J.T. comes out swinging with words saying that this is a government building and i am required to provide a 2nd phone number. I decline again and J.T. tells me "your done", "get out of here i am refusing service to you." I replied that's fine but would require documentation stating i would not be charged for using his company. While waiting, Jake tells me "man, all you had to do was give me a pizza mans phone number and that would be the end of it" i replied saying that this is what integrity is called and told you that i did not have another number to provide you. Finally Michael hands me a paper stating my rental agreement was cancelled. I am truly upset and horrified by the training of their staff. Sure i made a sarcastic remark after i was given attitude but the level of training from these employees were of high school level. Budget, i can tell you that i will never rent from you again. I booked at Alamo and paid more money and did not have this issue. Please take notes how to run a company more efficiently and with integrity.

Reserved a Ford Mustang online two months prior
Rang to confirm booking with Avis day before
When I arrived no mustang not Evan something Simla as per online contract
There a choice of two cars none per close to my requirement.
I spoke to Avis employee who told me Avis only go ten mustangs in entire fleet,
And that the car was never going to be there for collection
Avis have broken the online agreement we have . so consider they need to
Compensatemyself of at least 40 Dollars which was 20 each way

Avis Car rental

On March 31, 2017, son and disabled mother were travelling to Ft. Worth Texas because we had a death in the family. We reached Dallas Love Field Airport. the car rental places was closed. We were directed to the stop for shuttle service to go the Budget rental near the airport. once we arrived at budget. the lines were very long, when I reached the desk a female was assisting me. after keying in my information she said that my reservation was at the budget in fort worth. I asked if there was something she could do she said no and called for her next customer. at this point I am frustrated and start to cry. 45 minutes later a gentleman that worked there said let me see what I can do. he was able to pull my reservation and put us in a car. But the price went up $100.00. the original price was $115.00 and they charged $215.00. I should be reimbursed for the addition charge. the customer service of some of theses employees. SUCK! its bad enough that we were not there for pleasure, this added to our stress. I am asking for nothing more but fairness.

Avis No cars and the offices close without warning

In February of 2016, I planned a trip with my 85 year old father in law to Italy. I went to great lengths to make sure the trip did not exhaust him. I made a reservation to pick up an Avis car on the 28th of July at edge of Venus, a place we could reach by water taxi.

I showed up in a pouring rain on the 28th of July and the man in the Avis said, "the office is closed, you will have to another office to get the car" and shrugged his shoulders. (I have pictures.) He offered to give us a ride to the other office, but only for 1 of us, he didn't have room of the rest. There was another family there in the same boat and they were fuming.

The had my wizard number, they inundate me with emails, they had my cell phone numbers, they had my reservations weeks in advance but somehow it never occurred to anyone to tell me that the office would be closed when I got there. Basically sold me something they didn't have.

To add insult to injury, they billed me for some sort of traffic violations and added $50 per incident as a "handling charge". I have no idea what they are talking about and I am not going to spend time fighting with them. But after many years as an Avis customer, I will never use them again.

I just got back from Portugal and the best thing about it was I didn't rent form Avis. I think they took their customer focus from the airlines but at least car rentals are not a publicly supported monopoly and we don't have to put up with these people.

Avis Overcharge

I rented a Vehicle from the Gold Coast Airport on 6th April until the 11th April. Because of unforeseen circumstances I had to return the car the afternoon before the 9-30 checkin the next day. For this I was charged an extra $220 (approximately ).
I had not refuelled the car but had no knowledge that I would be charged $5 a litre for this to be done. I understand that there would be some increase for this to be done but $5 is incomprehensible. I was not made aware of this at drop off.
I have emailed the Customer Services Dept several times all have been returned and I believe blocked except one that got through asking for my Reference number even though I supplied the R/A number. Also rang several times only to be fobbed off that " they couldn't access the enquiry because that Dept was down". This is seeming to be a very dodgy company trying to get out of explaining theft from a persons Bank Account.

After reading some of the complaints regarding Rental Car Companies I am of the impression that some serious investigations need to be done into Customer Satisfaction Service and Accountability.
I have been extremely tolerant so far but am disgusted to think that they can just take money from Consumers because they can.
I want a Refund for the overcharge due to early return and at least a justified account of the cost of the Petrol refill which is nonsensical to me.

Avis Car rental sneaky overcharge

We rented car in Pittsburgh Airport. When asked for any extra coverage we both (my husband and I) said no. The young lady said sign here and gave us an envelope with car info on it and off we went. Having rented cars for close to 30 years from different vendors including avis we went on our way. When returning car we were charged over twice original quote in email reservation. We were then informed we had 'signed' the agreement to take all the extra coverage. It was then we realized the young lady never even gave us a copy of the rental agreement - the envelope was empty. It was clear to both of us we had been duped and this young lady had just gained a commission. We are escalating our complaint but at the corner and first round of phone calls they refused to do anything. We NEVER even saw the contract! We verbally denied all extra coverage (we even told her we get all the coverage with our auto insurance!) and then were told to 'sign'. Never saw or got a copy of what we 'signed'. To me this seems like a real scam. Renting cars for 25-30 years and have never taken the extra coverage. Smiling agent asks 'what brings yunz to Pittsburgh' and after we are done had nothing to say to us and was in fact rude sending us on our way. One has to wonder why she started all nice but after contract complete pretended we didn't exist... Watch our folks I think this is a new scam picking up speed.

Avis False claim of damage

After renting a car in Miami... rental agreement no U621100561 we returned the car and were told there was minor damage which we were responsible for. We were asked to file an incident report but there was no incident and fortunately my wife had taken pictures when we picked up the car. NO ONE HAD INSPECTED THE CAR WITH US WHEN WE PICKED IT UP, THEY JUST POINTED US TO THE CAR.
We showed the pictures to the rep and thought that ended the issue.
Then we get a bill from Viking Billing Service for $258... claim no JR6931.
Sending the pictures to them resolved the incident... but I am outraged that this happened and represents a blatant attempt to add false charges to our rental. Fortunately we had taken pictures but we still had to take time to deal with this claim both with your representative and with your collection agent.
YOU CAN BE SURE WE WILL NOT BE RENTING FROM AVIS AGAIN.

I would like compensation after sending emails and having them ignored.

Please see below my details and complaint.

I am disgusted that this is still ongoing and that after being back in the uk for three weeks after my avis car rental, I am still sending emails, all of which have been ignored. On all the previous emails, I have added all the details relevant and nothing has been responded to. This is in relation to a serious incident which I am now going to persue to my solicitor/lawyer and I am going to take these matters to court. Four emails I have sent previously to this and will also log this under another official complaint.

On arrival for my pickup, I was subject to waiting in the avis queue for my car for over 2 hours to be told later on that it was because of an insufficient number of cars (At miami international). I ended up picking up my car three hours after my due pick up time. I was suffering from kidney infection at the time and asked staff whether I could have some water and they were unable to assist and told me it was not a restaurant. I finally picked up my car to notice it had an amber light warning on the dashboard and showed the tyre pressures were too high. I immediately told staff who told me that it was fine and that they always did this to ensure that tyres were never low. I thought nothing of this. I must also add at this point, that the fuel level was not full and infact three quarters of a tank but this was the least of my worries. On, my last day driving on the florida turnpike highway, the car passenger side tyre blew and the car swerved out and almost hit a publix lorry travelling at speed. This was on the way back to the airport and I was almost killed in this accident. I was so shocked at this whole experience that I was shaking and crying from the experience and had to face missing my flight. I called avis three times to come and help me and it was just a dreadful service. The police had to come and help after two hours of being stuck next to a lake on the side of the highway. By the time I got back to the airport in a panic, I had missed my flight and was forced to pay £600 for change of flight and fare. Avis nearly took my life and I never have been so close to death in my whole life. I have not took this to social media nor newspapers yet as legal action is my next step and I am aware I cant do this if going to do this. I am wanting the money for my flight changed and want compensation for my near death experience because of your staff. Please find below the minimum which I expect from your company. Failure to do so will result in me taking this to court and my lawyer will be in contact for court proceedings. £612.89 for flight change costs

Avis Money which was not hold not yet returned.

Hi

Myself surendran chakravarthi, got a rent a car from Jeddah, Kingdom of saudi arabia on 16th Jan 2017.During that time, they got money of 1000 SAR on hold from my debit card.They informed me that they are holding that money for any kind of traffic violation in KSA.

I was having the rent a car for more than 2 months.while returning the car on 9th March 2017, i cleared all the payments.They told me the money of 1000 SAR will be refunded in 15 days. But today is 15th April 2017, almost one month has completed.Till now i havent received the money back.

When i get in touch with your jeddah representative, I am not getting any proper response on money return date.

Being a regular customer, they shouldnt treat in this way.Kindly treat the matter has urgent and return the money back as soon as possible.

Avis Wait time

I normally don't complain about a wait
Totally understand it's a Holiday but you as a rental car company should understand ...especially with the volume of people making reservations ahead of time that you should have a stocked staff. Literally, when we walked in 40 minutes ago the line was 5 deep and we are now just in the 2nd line!
Also when we walked in there is only 2 workers...now 3!

Where are the kiosks?

We are prob looking at a 2hr wait - no joke
I'm sorry but this is rediculious. I don't know if you will or can do anything but my return business with you is no longer.

There is also an elderly guy, whom I am told is an attorney and is taking pics and posting on u- tube and Facebook as we speak : (

Very very very frustrating!

Avis Put a roadside assistance charge on my bill without my acknowledgement

Rented a car from the las vegas airport through budget car rental on 3/20/17. I had to stand in line for over an hour. No other rental companies had this line! I was so glad to get out of there after waiting so long. Upon returning the car I found that they had put a roadside assistance charge of $47.94. The rep (Who was also very very rude) just put it on my bill without saying anything about it. I questioned it upon returning the car and I was told I would have to speak to mirna the manager back in the terminal. The line 5 days later was just as bad and I did not have another hour before my flight. I filed a complaint with budget and they did nothing! Beware they will rip you off if given the chance. Horrible experience and customer service

Avis Improper explanation of extra charges by agents

April 5-6 2017 at Chicago Midway Airport rental

I had to rent a car because a co-worker's flight was late, and she could not transfer me her car rental. I had not rented a car before, WHICH I SHOULD NOT HAVE TOLD THE AGENT because she completely took advantage of me, and now I have to fight them for the $ back.

When I GOT the car, the agent said
a) “You are personally responsible for any damage to the vehicle if you do not get the $13.50/day insurance.”
 This is not true, I know now. The agent should have said “it’s a loss damage waiver” not full insurance, and actually, I'm not liable, my work company or my own personal policy with Allstate could cover any issues.

b) “We have to pre-charge you $50 in case you return the car without gas. If you fill the car up with gas before return, the $50 will be credited back to your card.”
 Also not true. She PRE-charged me as if I had said we would not be returning the car with gas. we returned the car with a full tank and still got charged.
