I have been a customer of Walgreens Pharmacy on Roosevelt Road in Lombard for years, and my recent experiences have been beyond disappointing.
I am a Type 1 diabetic who relies on insulin to survive. I called in my insulin refill on May 22, 2026, and was told it would be available on May 25. After hearing nothing, I received an automated call on May 27 stating they were still working on the refill and would contact me when it was ready.
Then, on May 29—an entire week after I originally requested the refill—I finally received a call from a pharmacist who informed me that Walgreens no longer carries my insulin (Aspart) and that it had been discontinued. As a diabetic, waiting a full week to be told that my medication could not be filled is completely unacceptable. Why wasn't I notified immediately so I could contact my doctor or find another pharmacy? Delays involving life-sustaining medication can have serious consequences.
This is not the first serious issue I have experienced at this location. On a previous visit, I picked up my prescription and later discovered that Walgreens had placed another customer's medication in my bag. The prescription contained the other patient's personal information. When I contacted Walgreens to report their mistake, I was shocked by the response I received. Instead of acknowledging the seriousness of the error, I was criticized for contacting the patient whose medication had been mistakenly given to me.
Giving one customer's medication to another customer is a major pharmacy error and raises serious concerns about patient safety, privacy, and quality control.
Between the lack of communication regarding critical medications and the careless handling of prescriptions, I have lost confidence in this pharmacy. Patients deserve accurate information, timely communication, and confidence that their medications are being handled properly. Unfortunately, I have not received that level of service from this Walgreens located in Lombard, IL on Roosevelt Rd.
