We're pretty sure that if Walmart showed up wayyyy more often on ComplaintsBoard and paid more attention to reviews and complaints, it would lead to better results. But for now, the resolution rate doesn't show successful interaction with customers. We advise reviewers to be careful when communicating with Walmart and be ready for the chance your problem might not get a response. Walmart crappy sub

I have never seen any thing like it. Order a foot long black forest ham sub with olives and pepper jack cheese. They put four losy little olives on it. When I ask for a few more he just ignored me. Never eat there again.

Walmart safety issue with carts

I have emailed corporate about the following issue and had numerous conversations on the phone with the store manager. I have a large family. I utilize Walmart's blue multi-passenger carts for my three youngest children. Walmart on AppleGlen Blvd in Fort Wayne, IN has these carts. The two seats for my toddlers are supposed to have safety buckles and straps. ALL of the carts buckles and straps are in need of repair. Not a single one is safe for my children to ride in. My husband and I are forced to push two carts around the store to do our grocery shopping and that is a large inconvenience. When I spoke with the store manager, he assured me the issue would be resolved and the straps and buckles would be replaced within two weeks. This conversation took place before Christmas 2010. It's now almost the end of March and they are still broken. When I emailed corporate, they forwarded my email to the store manager and nothing was done. I would spend over $1500 a month on food, clothing, diapers, etc at Walmart. I have stopped shopping at Walmart and now shop at Meijer. I am VERY disappointed in Walmart and the way they do business.

No, I understand what you are saying cookies. Thus the reason I stopped shopping there. I refuse to put my children in unsafe carts. I guess I don't get why it's so hard for them to keep the straps maintained. That's the only place I have that problem with. Other places I shop are fine. People commented about me shopping there and that it is a discount store and all...but where else could I go to shop? The only other option is Meijer for groceries or Kroger/Scotts. We don't have any other stores here. So, I went to Meijer.

Thanks I like cookies 2. There are times I get to shop alone too. I would rather shop alone but there are plenty of times I can't. Parents should def have the sense to not use them and I agree, when a child gets hurt, there will be a lawsuit and it won't matter that the parent neglected to put their child/children in a safe cart.

I have been the lonely parent flying solo going into the store with my 2 toddlers and my infant. My husband can't come with me all the time to the store for grocery shopping. The particular day I mentioned in my complaint, yes he was there with me. But, most of the time it is just me. I understand I chose to have my children and I have to deal with it whatever way possible. I see the point you make. I understand you feel it isn't a valid complaint. I don't mean to offend anyone. It's not just ALL the blue carts are broken, I go through numerous regular carts as well, trying to find one with working safety straps. I never blamed the employees in my compliant. If I implied that, it wasn't my intention. I guess maybe I should take the greeter's advice. "Don't expect too much from us and you won't be disappointed."

Thank you for your support Haven72. I know from first hand how fast children move. I have 8. =) I love them so much and I care about their safety. I just wonder why they can't be a little more caring when it comes to their safety (the walmart company I mean). I would never intentionally put my children in an unsafe situation. When I talked to the manager and emailed walmart they didn't seemed too concerned. Even though I would not put my children in carts with broken straps, unfortunately there are parents who would. I understand that it is the stupidity of those parents but unfortunately when a child does end up hurt, there will be a lawsuit and a hurt child in the end of it all. The rude remarks that are on this post move away from the main point. These people are more concerned with bashing me for just being concerned. I understand there's so many other bad things going on in this world. But, when I found this site, I assumed it was here to voice concerns. I guess I was wrong.

Update by just13
Mar 22, 2011 7:01 pm EDT

My children aren't unruly. My children don't abuse the carts. Meijer does have the multi-passenger carts. That is one of the reasons why I choose to go to meijer now. It's not just the carts. It is the horrible customer service. It is the uncleanliness of the store. It is a multitude of different things. My children that I put in the multi-passenger carts are 2 toddlers and an infant. I care about my childrens safety. That is why I brought it to the managers attention in the first place. Maybe I worded my compliant badly. Maybe you are reading into it too much...

Update by just13
Mar 22, 2011 1:10 am EDT

I think you missed the entire point...my concern isn't what my children ride in, it is the fact that a child is going to end up injured from falling out of the cart. Then, Walmart will end up with a lawsuit. Why offer the "convenience" if they aren't going to keep them safe? You can try and knock me down, assume I have a "beer budget" as you put..ALL of it has absolutely NOTHING to do with my point. I don't have to justify myself to you.

Brad Russell - I agree with you in part. The truth is, a store is only as good as their manager is. Some Walmart managers are NOT good managers and equipment like this goes unrepaired for months or years on end which is why I've said, dial 1-800-walmart to complain. That goes in to the PR Department in Bentonville, AR, and they DO care.

At least this parent cares enough about their children to try to keep them safe. How many parents do you see with small children in standing up and crawling all over shopping carts because they're not buckled in? I cringe when I see that because I know children have died while doing that. Some parents simply shouldn't be parents because they're either too stupid or too lazy to adequately care for their offspring.

If the equipment has a space for seat belts, they're suppose to be there. If one of those children gets hurt because they are not there, Walmart would be liable for a lawsuit.

For those of you who think this is a moot or absurd point, seat belts were installed on shopping carts because children falling over the side of them hit their head on the concrete floor, and several have died from head injuries. If you don't consider that important, I feel sorry for you.

"The new ones, $400 EACH. I know. I asked."

Yes, but the cost of the straps is negligible.

They are ordered in the tens of thousands further decreasing their cost.

AND I can guarantee you, WALMART'S ATTORNEYS WANT THEM ON EACH AND EVERY SINGLE CART THE CHAIN OWNS - so if an accident does happen on a properly installed belt, it isn't Walmart's fault.

VALID complaint.

Those straps are there for a reason - because in the past, an accident happened that hurt a youngster.

Not having the straps is increases the store's legal exposure.

Not using them increases the parent's responsibility.

I bet if you dial 1-800-WALMART, those straps will be in that store installed in those carts before the end of the week because not having them makes the Walmart attorneys on staff crazy.

1-800-WALMART goes directly into their Public Relations Department in Bentonville, AR, and they WILL react to VALID complaints - and this is one.

Look the whole shopping cart safety deal and what not, here's the scoop, Wal-Mart in fact does make a very good effert to take bad carts out of cerculation to be repaired but the number of customer to to number of carts being damaged is high which in turn makes all the harder to keep on top of picking bad ones out of the good ones quickly enough. The greeeters and associates who collect the carts do there best to manage the problem. So if your one store is struggling to keep up or waiting for parts keep in mind they also have to process and maintain everything else in the store as well . I may have gotten off track a bit but the jest of it is the employees do what they can to keep bad carts out. Take a good look at the back of a store every once an awhile you will see all the damaged carts they have to deal with all the time. :) Yes i practically live at Wal-Maet and see first hand the effort thats put into store safety overall period.

The seat belts are probably made in the same Chinese sweat shop the rest of their products are made in. Citizens of this country need to revolt against this company!

People like this are what give the South a horrible reputation. If you want to spew all this racist, sexist, bigoted crap, I'm sure there's a KKK group near you for you to take it to... but I would much rather see you go to a psychiatrist, because you are clearly crazy. "I'm not racist but that guy was a ###!" Yeah, that would be racism. So yes. You are racist, and on top of that, I bet you're 55 with a fake tan and fake nails, caked-on makeup and sweatpants with the word "juicy" written on the ###. Take your attitude back to the trailer park where it belongs. You aren't beautiful... you're the one of the ugliest people I've ever had the displeasure to meet.

Walmart variety of products

What the frig is up with Wal Mart lately? their prices have skyrocketed!- they used to have the lowest prices- now I find things priced lower lots of places AND why did they downsize their sewing/craft/bead section? In this economy- people are making MORE things to save money- DUH. Yet the einsteins at wal mart did away with all the best features the store used to have. I used to shop there 3 to 4 times a week- for sewing/craft supples and garden plants access etc. Now I go once a month- their new garden prices are outrageous and the selection is waaay smaller- some wal marts don't even have plants anymore! and their shelves are mostly empty now and not well stocked like they used to be-

Walmart customer service: reurn policy

Today I went to the Walmart (store #3507) in Port Covington, MD to return a copy of Madden 2011 for the PS3 still in its original shrink wrap. It was given to me as a gift with receipt included and since I already had a copy, I wanted to return it and use the cash to pick up a few items I needed from the store. However I was informed that since the original purchase was made by credit card, that the only option for refund was to credit the original credit card that was used for the purchase. I found this hard to believe since I'm sure that many people use credit cards to buy gifts that are returned by the person receiving the gift for either cash or store credit. When I asked to see the store policy that states this in writing, I was told "that is just the way it is" by the manager on duty with whom I was now speaking. If this is in fact store policy, it is absurd ... if it is not store policy then it is an indication that you have poorly trained personnel working in your store's Customer Service department up to and including management... either of which reflects poorly both upon the store in question and Walmart in general. In order to cut my losses, I went ahead and had the transaction processed and the original credit card credited and then I left the store without buying any of the items I was planning to purchase there.

The good news is that my brother-in-law will at least receive credit for the return back to his credit card, , , , I however, after this experience, will not be making Walmart my first choice for any future purchases and I can only hope that after I relay my experience to my friends and family that they will do the same.

In my experiences stores will either credit the original credit card or give a store credit. I am not surprised they would not give you cash but I am also surprised you did not receive at least a store credit.

Walmart poor quality glasses

I purchased a pair of glasses at this establishment. I knew and expected to pay some of the fee out of pocket due to the way my vision insurance worked. I did not have a problem with that. I had the exam, and picked out a pair of frames. All was good and I was told to check back in a few days, and they should be ready by then. When I arrived at the store to pick them up, the glasses seemed okay, but when I got home, I put them on, and the right lens popped out and hit the floor. Hmmm, I thought that was kind of unusual. I was able to wiggle the lens back in place, and within a few days the other lens was doing the same thing! I finally took them beck the following week, and I was mad! All the girl that worked the counter in the vision dept did was "tighten" the screws, she gave em back to me, I got home, and the lenses started doing the same thing AGAIN! I called them and demanded a new pair. They did give me a new frame, but they insertes the old lenses. The lenses continued to "pop out". I took them back a third time, and the counter girl looked at them and said "Oh, these were not" scored" properly, and that is why they keep breaking. I was so furious, and out about $120.00. They didn't want to make me lenses that even fit! So now I am out $120.00, and I have a pair of glasses that I cant even use!

Purchased glasses on 1/15/2013 : single vision lenses with a scratch resistant, glare coating or so I was told. Returned to store today 3/21/13 because lenses scratched when placed in my pocket last week while assisting in a code/CPR. Glasses were in pocket about 25 minutes. The cost of the coating was 40% of the lenses cost. I was told that I was past 60 days and they would not replace the lenses nor would they send them for re-coat or polishing. They don't provide the services. I did not get the glasses until after the 25th of Jan. and I had worked the last 7 days in a row from 7a-7p, , so there is no way I could have gone in at or before day 60. They would not honor their guarantee. They do not provide any customer service for the lenses they sell. All Wal-Mart wants to do is sell you more poor quality lenses. The lenses had only been in use from Jan 25th until March 15th when the lenses got scratched in my pocket. I will go somewhere where service is provided from now on. I hate paying out hard earned money for poor quality goods.

Wal-Mart Vision Center attempted to sell me used frames. I paid over $300 for the frames and the lens and when I was handed them the case was dirty and the frames were clearly used and had glue residue from the price tag and the company logo had letters missing. They told me they will reorder new frames for me. Just info.

Last June i had my eye exam done In the Ephrata, Pa Walmart Vision Center. At this time there was not many frames available to choose from that my insurance company covered, the selection was very sparse, contrary to the more expensive frames, there were plenty of choices. Hence i chose a more expensive frame. My prescription required bifocals. I got them they were so off that it was giving me a headache and was hard to even walk with out messing up my equilibrium, i was told that i needed to learn to walk and use the bifocals. in Nov, i lost my glasses, went to get new ones. Walmart Vision Center said i can get the cheaper frames at no charge because of the 100% guarantee replacement policy. Well if it was 100% then why did i have to go with the cheaper frames? well i took the cheap frames and when i picked them up the glasses were not bifocals? just plain lens. I took them cuz i needed to see to work. 3 months later the frame broke. I went back they repaired no charge. then in May i got a post card saying i needed to schedule my yearly eye exam. Okay its now towards END of June i scheduled for my only day off in 2 weeks and received a call the day before saying that i can have the exam however if need a different script on my lenss the insurance company wont cover because i had the new glasses given to me in NOV..(which were the FREE replacement, under THEIR guarantee) So when calling the store to question the issue, ALLISON was extremely rude to me, said she cant do anything and asked my why my insurance company wont allow it? I said to her well how or why would I know, walmart vision is the one who billed my insurance FRAUDULANTLY in Nov. for FREE replacement. I told her two times the situation, time frame, and she said nothing she can do and that i need to call insurance and figure it out. I told her it was not my responsibility because they fraudulently put a claim through, how will my insurance company know any different from what they are billed. she said hold on...put me on hold for 5 min came back and said nothing she can do. I said let me speak to a manager perhaps they can figure it out. She said she isn't here to call tomorrow...i asked her name because of how she handled my situation, ALLISON THE WALMART VISION CENTER EPRHATA PA employee then turned to another co-worker as i was on the phone and said "can you believe this, shes going to report me". I was shocked, ask I am in the Customer service industry, and just came out of a 3 day seminar for this specific issue, the lack of professionalism, the lack of helping customers with their issues, and helping them solve them. I called the walmart store manager, he said there was other complaints about the same things, and he tried to get me the information i needed however since the vision center is a "sister" store he was not sure how to contact cooperate office. He said he would help in any way possible, and was very pleasant and apologetic. I will be following up and making this right. Or i should say hold walmart vision center Ephrata pa accountable for insurance fraud claims and bad service as well as lack of candor in making sure vision prescriptions are handled properly. I now have a hard time seeing and since i have gotten the glasses it seems my eyes are getting worse ...faster. must be their way of having continued business by ruining people eyesight and making fraudulent claims, selling cheap glasses and not offering enough selection for the frames that insurance companies cover. in this day and age we need strong businesses who are not trying to rape the consumer of every penny, but offer the best at a decent price and quality that will keep the continued business of the customers. Isn't this walmarts philosophy? why don't they require the same from their sister stores?

The $38 pair of glasses is for clear, single vision plastic lenses for $29, and a $9 frame. There is a 60 day satisfaction guarantee, the glasses can be refunded within this time, or you can opt to get single vision reading glasses. The doctor fee, on the other hand, is non refundable.

I had problems with Walmarts vision center also. I was drawn in by the $38.00 for a pair of glasses sign. When the smoke cleared it cost me $199.00. After the initial shock I knew I needed a second pair of glasses, so I was fine with the price. When I picked them up they were out of focus and I could not find the bifocle part of the lens. They re-examined me and made some corrections and said the glasses were not measured correctly. I picked them up a week later and I am still having the same problems; out of focus. I got tired of messing with them and put them up. Who knows my vision may change to the point where I can use them. I do not think they made any corrections on the lenses. I think they gave me the glasses back in the same condition as when they first were made. I am not happy about the experience, so I will take it as a lesson learned.

Walmart poor return service

I attempted to return a laptop I had received as a gift with no receipt to upgrade to a better processor (approx $100 more); the box was factory sealed (never opened) and I had waybill from HP to Walmart on box. They refused to facilitate return - I had an overall bad experience. Beware of purchasing electronics from Walmart as they give you a hard time. And there's no one that you can even reason with - they have very young employees with little customer service sense and no business acumen (even the managers). I have sent them a complaint and awaiting a response. Ended up getting receipt from gift giver (very embarasing for me!) and exchanging laptop. I've learned my lesson though, low prices comes at a high price to your dignity! Next time, I will support establishments that value their clients.

Walmart incorrect pricing and managerial downplay

During the past 4-6 weeks, I have made several trips to our friendly Wal-mart store both here in Calgary, AB, Marlborough location as well as the Strathmore, AB location and if I had not been on guard, I would have been paying too much money on each of these occasions. The first incident was about a week before Christmas, when I wanted to purchase a sounds around system for my husband. The electronics people were very nice, but all of their pricing was wrong. The clerk brought three different units to the front and all were priced wrong. I finally spoke with a manager and she did her best to put the blame on someone else, namely the consumer for moving the products. I pointed out to her that all of these products were secured to shelves and impossible for anyone to move. I then pointed out four different units that had incorrect labels and she still tried to blame others, but said she would correct the issue. I went back a few days later and all four labels were removed and no pricing attached to them. There were of course other items which still had wrong pricing attached to the shelves underneath the items so you still could not get a correct price on an item. Then just after Christmas, I went to Srathmore and purchased Wrapping at 75% off, but the one roll of paper came up in the system as $112.00. Clearly it was wrong, but the cashier insisted that the computer was correct. It was only after I asked her to rescan everything that she discovered the issue and admitted to having the same issue with another customer but didn’t catch it until it was too late. Last night I went to the same Wal-Mart and again bought a CD. The price on the label was $15.44 but rang through as over $18.00. I had to go back to customer service where she corrected it and followed their policy of $10.00 off for the error. Today I went back to Marlborough, and with flyer in hand, purchased some cereal which was supposed to be $1.67 or 3 for $5.00. Again it was wrong, but the flyer said 275m-475m. The brand and size that I purchased was indeed within these sizes and the correct brand. A person in management said that the flyer was wrong, but only offered the advertised price after another customer spoke up and said it was against the law. Only on one occasion was I offered the $10.00 off discount for the error in pricing, and for all of my wasted time talking to managers and customer service, I should have been given a lot more! These stores think that we aren’t watching, and with all of these errors on my purchases over the past month, how many people have been overcharged and have not known? How much extra money are they scamming from people and not admitting to, but collecting on it and making a huge profit? Consumers should be aware and should be watching the scanners and looking at their receipts! Wal-mart needs to be held accountable for these pricing issues. The managers need to take responsibility for the events that happen each day and make sure that there are no pricing errors. I am tired of it, and if I have to hold up a line for an hour in order to get my point across, that is what I will do, and I will make sure that everyone knows about their pricing errors and take it as far as I possibly can in order to make consumers aware and Wal-mart be more careful with their prices.

Walmart expired product on shelf

I purchased 10 Campbell's soup products from Walmart and 1 when opened had strange growth on top of silver film and under red cap. The one that showed this problem was a Campbell's soup at hand soup. After inspecting the soup with the gross odor and strange mold substance on top, I discovered that the expiration date was long past. I purchased the soup on Feb 26, 2011 while the date on the bottom of the soup was Aug 11, 2010. This is exactly what should never happen. All the other soups I purchased were not past expiration. Walmart should be keeping check of stock and maintain product checks. Customers should not feel they have to read the expiration date of every product they purcahse. We should feel safe enough in the store to trust they will check such issues to stay in business.

Walmart walmart steals from customers

The Walmart I have been shopping at has made a practice of stealing from the customer at checkout. Walmart store Supercenter #3739, 5875 E Franklin Rd, Nampa, ID 83687 makes sure all items are not in the bag or a bag is set aside at checkout. I have noticed 5 times when I get home items are missing from my purchase. Such a practice is common thievery and Walmart should be held accountable. I have made a couple on line complaints which were ignored. It is no wonder Walmart claims to be able to sell products so cheap. In fact it appears they can resell products several times to several customers before the items finally leave the store.

@chaos21, you sound ignorant.i have had this same thing happen to me many times more than 5, but i'm not good at confrontations so i let it go at the times that it occurred, which has been many in the past 5 months alone./i am however, going to be very aware every time i shop Walmart and check my receipt every single time.people like chaos21 love to assume that they're correct abut someone's personality, based on what THEY would do.i know many people who've been stolen from in this very same way many times repeatedly and refuse to do anything but tolerate it.i was in that category too, up until two night ago, when i came home without the movie and the two bags of doughnuts i bought.not much but it was enough to satisfy some cashier's visual entertainment and sugar rush for at least a couple hours. i always pay in cash and i shop late at night anywhere between the hours of 2 to 5am.they must be setting the products aside like on the floor at a moment when i'm looking away for a few seconds, like at my wallet..i don't know how else they'd be getting by with it if you're paying with cash.

You're able to go back to the store with the receipt and tell Customer Service that you forgot so-and-so items. They do give them back. I was a cart pusher there until recently, and I always made sure to bring any merchandise that was left behind to customer service.

Walmart front door check

I have been to this store many times in over 4 years now and recently the store has decided to implement a person at the door who checks receipts almost copying costco. However, since this has started I have been stopped twice out of five times to "check" my receipt. I asked the second time, as we are a young family and the older couple ahead of us didn't get stopped, why we were stopped. The older worker's reply was he had to check anything that wasn't in a bag to see if on a receipt. The first time we were stopped we had no grocery that wasn't in a bag! I have taken some time to watch as to how people are dressed and even their color. They are "choosing" who they stop and how "they" feel about a person. I would say this is bad business as well as racism and discrimination! I am in the process of filing a complaint with the bbb as well. On a day I had "not so expensive" clothing, I got stopped. On another day I dressed very well and hair in style and was not stopped as I watched people in pajamas get stopped as well as watching people run past him out the door. My opinion: stop everyone or stop no one! I think this store and any other store of this chain practicing these tactics needs to be stopped. I wouldn't be surprised if lawsuits soon start over this as like I said before, complete discrimination in full.

I politely tell Wal-Mart door-checkers that I don't submit to searches without a warrant. I've had several of them scream at me on my way out the door, and make various insults and accusations. But the plain fact is: they have no right to touch (assault) me, detain me, or handle my property (which I just purchased) and that's how it works. If they want to force the issue, I will be very happy to call the Police on them.

I also have had issues with the Harrissville Walmart..showing my receipts i don't mind doing, but i have noticed a few times some guys just kinda waiting outside the Salon in Walmart, and as i start to exit the store, they will get right along side me..the alarm will beep, and i will be the one stopped i pointed this out to the greeter, and asked why wasn't the other shopper stopped also, and she basically told me because i choose to stop you..another time while showing my receipt the lady checking it started asking me what store was i price matching with, and the sale prices were wrong, and if i wanted those sale prices to shop at that store INSTEAD of Walmart.I think i spend way to much money at Walmart to deal with that kinda treatment i understand people can have bad days, but if you take it out on customers, you should not be working a job that deals with so many people..Im taking myself to Winco next time...and i DID have the adds to show proof of sales to price match as did the cashier...she even priced matched for me some coke that i did not know was on sale at Macy's...to bad some cashiers are so great..but some workers just mess it up...

I work at Walmart part time. This is not about race or illegal searches. If you walk around the store sometime, go down an aisle where ther eare no cameras watching. Look at all the opened product that has been stolen. It is not only about looking for stolen items but to look to see if the clerk missed scanning an item that was too big ( maybe on the bottom of the cart etc ). People steal millions of dollars from Walmart every year. It costs the total retail outlets billions of dollars. You just expect them to eat the costs.
I have seen stores lose over a million dollars in inventory a year and that would be considered good in some areas.
Walmart is not going after race. They are just trying to protect their goods. Yes, I have seen people try to walk out with a cart full of mdse, when the clerk is busy at the door. We have a greeter and a security person at the door. It is not uncommon to have two or more people working together to distract the clerks while another leaves the store with high ticket items, or even a basket full of clothes.
I have worked in several jobs in my 59 years and although we had theft from clerks and employees, it was not in this volumn.
I have also seen clerks not ring up items for their friends and then try to get out the store because they think the security person saw them in line and that the goods were paid for. They not only got arrested but the clerk lost his job.
AND you know who ends up paying for all this... We all do... in higher prices.

No private citizen has the legal authority to detain and question another, UNLESS he/she has reasonable grounds to believe a crime has been committed. I am single, white, blond, mid 40s, above average in looks and build for my age. I have very healthy checking and savings accounts, both in the 5 figure range. I have a 401K. I work in the fraud department for the company that holds the title "Best company for working mothers". I have one child in elementary school.
I agree 100% with the complaint. I have noticed the same thing at the Wal-mart on Rancho Santa Fe in Avondale, AZ. Everyone in the country is aware of the racial issues in AZ. The Wal-marts in the Phoenix area that are located in the predominately Hispanic communities or lower income communities are very aggressive with this behavior. The decline and quality of service at my local Wal-mart was in direct correlation with an increase of Hispanic growth. The surrounding neighborhoods, all under 15 years old, were impacted by the housing market, many homes becoming Section 8 housing.
I have noticed on many occasions Hispanics or those possibly on the lower end of the social economic ladder stopped while exiting with their purchases. These items were carried in one or two bags. I found it shocking not a single person questioned the behavior. There is a definite selection process. I used to do the majority of my shopping at that Wal-mart. Abusive behavior and the arrogant refusal to provide customer service eventually drove me away. As others have commented, I don't have to shop at Wal-mart. I have many options locally and have benefited greatly from the discovery. There are still a few items I prefer to get at Wal-mart, and yes, cost is the deciding factor. I have just started shopping at other Wal-mart locations in the Phoenix area. In the non Hispanic communities, the prices are lower, the selection better, the stores cleaner with a better quality of service. Its a win win for me. The down side of this is my tax dollars are being spent in other cities.
I made the mistake of going to the Rancho Santa Fe Wal-mart on 3/1/11. The experience was the tipping point. I have written letter of complaint to Wal-mart and forwarded copies of the letter to the BBB, the State, and the city of Avondale. Discrimination is illegal in this country. Not all Wal-mart stores are bad. The ones that are need to be addressed. For anyone who stands by and watches an unjust situation, remember it the next time it is "your" turn to deal with something unfair.

FDL_HOU: I used to work in retail. An EXTREMELY common theft tactic involves putting the items in the store's bags. Wise doesn't factor in to most theft, stupidity does.

And at my Wal-Mart there are many valuable items between the register and door.

If someone was stealing from Walmart, would it be wise to put the stolen good(s) in a Walmart bag? Wouldn't the best place to put it is in their purse or underneath their clothing. So what would this check of the receipt against what's contained in the bags prove? Why doesn't Macy's or Nordstroms implement this policy, if it's such an effective method against theft? Hell, it's even worse at those stores. You can buy something in a department and move from department to department. At Walmart, there isn't any items of value between the cashier stand and the door. Sure, I know they have surveillance video, but so does Walmart.

Let's put it another way. They ask you to stop..you keep walking? What are they going to do? Call the security? the police? If they call the police and you can prove to the police you paid for every item you have in your sack. Then what can they do? As I said..I don't do this, and I have read about it being done in [redacted]s. I refuse to shop at Walmart, not only because of that but vbeacause they have cheap and I don't mean cheap in cost, but cheap merchandise.

Walmart general

My complaint has to do with WalMart in general. I used to think WM was a great store, right there with not only department store items but groceries also...what better way to do your shopping all in one store...but that is in the past. Since the senior Walton has passed on, it is all about getting the cheapest merchandise from these third world countries and passing that 'cheap made' junk off on the consumer. And since all the stores have done an 'overhaul', they just don't have anything anymore...and the women's clothing section is a garbage heap of this 'hooker type' clothing and nothing else. I have been buying my clothes at KMart instead, at least they have decent styles for grown ups, not just this 'trendy' fashion for the young girls who want to dress like hookers.
As far as the groceries go, I am also seriously debating to start shopping at other stores (Kroger or Meijers)...All the 'usual' stuff that I used to be able to find at WalMart, I can no longer find or I can't find it in the size can/package that I want. Not to mention, pretty soon, all you will be able to find will be WalMart brand groceries on everything...they jack up the price so much on national brand items so that you feel you have to buy their brand. Poor Sam would be turning over in his grave to see what his kids have turned it into. Also, the fact that WalMart is one of the biggest contributors to the illegal alien problem...I know there are more illegals working at our area Walmart's than any other businesses around. To be perfectly honest, it wouldn't sadden me at all to see WalMart stores go out of business just because of these reasons...it is not longer the place to shop and most of the community people where I live agree with me and we have gotten together and made a pact to not go to WalMart unless we positively cannot find our items elsewhere...so far, we have had good luck and haven't shopped WalMart for over a month...and we are doing an e-mail protest with hundreds of friends to join us in this pact...with wonderful and unbelievable results. WalMart for one thing needs to get back to Sam's promise of buying 'AMERICAN MADE' only. We are cutting our own throats by buying all this foreign junk. We (in our community) have decided it's better to pay a little more to get better quality.

Greendot is an independent company that is not owned or manager by Walmart. Walmart has no responsibility concerning that product. I've used greendot for over a year and I've never had any problem with it. You buy the initial card, Visa or Master Card, and then load it using the reload cards sold separately. You can call the number on the back of the card to load the moneypack on to the debit card or you can do the same thing on-line. If you're too dumb to figure that out it's not Walmart's fault.

After going around and around with broken english out sourced techs I was informed my order had been canceled due to phones being out of stock. I was NEVER notified about this!. Then I was told it would be fifteen days for a refund! Minus a restocking fee! For phones I had never received?. Once again WALMART fails! And I have taken this to an attorney thats advocates for consumers who are being RIPPED OFF!

Walmart photolab employee

I was an employee at the photo-center at walmart. I had no problems training any of the new employees until about December 2010. We got a new member to our team but her mother was the personnel manager and at least half of the assistant managers, including the one who interviewed her, were family friends. So of course she got the job. Training her was very hard. She fought us and didn't listen. She wouldn't help customers or answer the phones. She would make us do everything and when she got left alone, when things went wrong she would call other Photolab employees at home, even once they have quit their job. She gets very irritable around customers and isn't clear when she answers their questions. She gets away with a lot of stuff that everyone else in the lab would get in trouble for. She has more freedom in her work schedule than any of us did as well. For the first 3 weeks she came in whenever she wanted to, whereas everyone had gotten their schedule the first week they got there. I don't believe that she should be allowed to work their unless she gets treated like other employees. Customers had complained about her a couple times, normally a manager would have confronted the employee for this concern and even coached that employee.

We have a similar situation in our bakery, former employee got rehired after 6 years away, this lady is mentally unstable, got rehired because she said she was willing to work any shift, and now is always complaining about her hours, and always trying to switch shifts with others despite them always saying no, repeatedly! So, she thinks that because she worked at the bakery for a short time so many years ago, that she has seniority over even the gals who have been there for the whole of the past 6+ years, and they are getting tired of it real quick... why wont the managers just fire this rehire! She doesn't even work, she's already been out on FMLA for 10 days for" her back"...SHE'S STILL IN HER FIRST 30 days! Because of her being out I picked up her schedual, so far 2 days in, I've worked 24 hours, and somehow I have to cut my time cause our Walmart doesn't allow overtime UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES:... one thing we must change! You work em! You keep em! Thanks for reading.

I would like to tell you about my experience int the eye care center. I had an appointment there today at 4:00. I arrive there around 3:40. I was waiting to be called in when a woman comes in and ask if there were any openings or cancellations. Tthe 3:30 didn't show up because the next thing I knew..."Kathy" was bringing her into the examining room. I was VERY UPSET to say the least! Kathy saw me sitting there! She was the one who told me to take a seat! Kathy should have let me go in and have the woman that just came in follow me! I did not get in till after 4:30! A young man came up to me and apologized and offered me a 10% discountt! WOW! I thought 10% off is an insult! He couldn't have offered me 20% for the time I wasted waiting there because she was put in front of me! Almost 45 minutes? Kathy didn't even apologizegize to me! I THINK THAT STINKS! I will never to there again for my glasses

WAL-MART VISION...Dont ever do business with these idiots! I paid my portion of my glasses and lenses that my insurance did not cover. I knew I was going to pay at least $120.00 out of pocket. I had no issues with that. I get my exam done, and arrange to come back in a few days to pick up my NEW glasses(new frames, new lenses). I had the glasses less than a week, and my right lens popped out. I took my NEW glasses back 3 times, and on the 3rd time, they gave me new frames with the old lenses in them. Hmmm, okay, I figured there was something wrong with the frame, and these so called professionals knew what they were doing...Nope, The problem started all over again! I took them back yet again, and I was told that the lenses were not "scored" propely, and too bad, now the warranty was up, and no refund, or new lenses. I will never do business there again!

Walmart dont stand behind their money orders

Buyer beware they will not refund their money orders you have to give moneygram 15 and 30 30 days to cancel a money order I took mine back to walmart with the purchase receipt the money order stub and the money order and they then pulled out a binder with a list of these hidden fees and details. Now I'm stuck with a $500 worthless peice of paper

Just wait the time to make sure it hasnt been cashed and if it is lost they will replace it . I worked with moneygram before and yes there is a 15.00 fee but that is all . That is part of the risk of money orders. Cashier checks from the bank are the same way.

Walmart cant ever get money

This is the first time in my life that Ive submitted a complaint of any kind, but this is
the worst experience I think Ive ever had! First of all, the card has NO PROBLEM accepting refunds from there store(instead of getting your cash back) But BEWARE! If you think the money will show up on your card within 24 hours GOOD LUCK! Im a single mother, and every penny I earn is pinched and stretched to the max! With that being said, when I decide to recieve my refund to my card, I axpect for it to be available! If I knew it wouldnt show up after 2 days Id have gotten my cash back (since I had a reciept and Payed in cash for the item I was returning!) BAD Buisness if you ask me!

Walmart false arrest

On or about January 3, I went into this Walmart, like I had twice a week for almost 4 years, accompannied by a young woman with whom I was barely acquainted. I was asked by a mutual friend to fix her computer the night before, and that afternoon, when I was dropping it off, she overheard me on the phone with my husband, letting him know how long I would be in geting home and what I had to do before I could set out for home. She asked me if she could ride to the store with me and if I could drop her off at the corner by where she lived. I didn't really think much about it as it was directly on my way home. As we entered the store together, we parted ways and I did my thing while she did hers. About 20 minutes later, she found me looking in the undergarment aisle picking out a new set that i though my husband might enjoy. I put them in my cart as began to go to the grocery section. She asked me it I was going to get a lot of items and i replied that I was just picking a few things up for dinner tonight. She suggested that we use one cart and since hers had a few different items in it, I did not have a problem with that. I was tired and cold and just wanted to be done and at home. She took the undergarments and laid them atop of her jacket and we set out. I was walking ahead of her the entire time and hurried through the store. I spoke to my husband again twice during this time and was almost running to get home. (good news earlier in the day, phone sex twice in walmart, good lord, what was waiting for me when i got home?) I was running for the checkout. I proceeded to pay for my groceries and was ffeling generous so I paid for the few items the young woman had as well. She began pushing the cart out of the store as I was putting my CC away. By the time we got to the door, store security was all over us. I had the deer in the headlights look while she scrammbled and bolted. I just stood there. As the security girl stood there and yelled at me about giving her her stuff back, I asked her what the hell she was talking about. by this time i was emarressed and angry. She then escorted me into the little brick room off to the side of the exit doors where she proceeded to tell me that I knew what she was doing and that I was going to be charged with it . I asked her how I could be charged with anything. I did not take anything. She said that I knew what she was doing and taht was enough to have me charged for it. She asked me about the undergarments, and I told her that I had completely forgotten about them as they were no longer needed. She did not get it and I did not elaborate. She continually asked me for her name and all I could do was give her a first name because that was all I knew. I was then told to open her purse so as sto retrieve the merchandise, I told her that I would not. It was not mine, I did not bring it into the store, it is not leaving the store with me and she could do what she wanted with it. As we were waiting for the NLV Police to arrive, she retrieved the merchandise. There were jeans, stickers, magazines, bras and of course the set that I had wanted 30 minutes prior. Cleaning suppplies and some other stuff. She again told me that since I was lying to her that when the police arrived, I would just be charged. I asked her if she had seen all this on tape and she agreed that she did. I asked her if I was anywhere near the jeans today and the cleaning stuff or the kids toys, or anything else. She said no I was not, I then asked how could I have possibly known what she was doing if Iwere in a different part of the store. She did not reply as the police were on their way into the room. The policeman took her statement, did not obtain one from me and never asked me a question. Proceeded to write me the summons and told me to sign it. If I did not sign it< I was going to go down to the jail for the night. I signed it was was released with my groceries. Now mind you this was 45 minutes later. I will not go into all the rudeness and yelling on her part, but you can imagine it was there. In a moment you will understand why there was no yelling on my part. I was informed that on my way out, that Walmart has the option of sueing me in a civil matter reqardless of the outcome of the criminal matter. I said that it was rediculous and that I would see her in court and have no problems wiwth a counter claim. And yes, 3 days after the incident I received the letter pertaining to the civil suit.I have contacted the NLVPD, the City Attorney's office and a private attorney that is going to handle both criminal and civil charges. We are still waiting to see the tape as it appears that the prosecuters do not even have it in their possession as of yet. What a company! Hire a fresh out of school girl to head your security staff. Imagine what would happen if all business were operated like this. I have since boycotted Walmart and have organized several peaceful protests through my church and others in my neighborhood. As I am, Dr. Rev. Melissa Clay, with affiliations throughout the community. I have no record of anykind in all my 37 years, and speciallize in family counseling. I have not now nor have I ever been so humiliated over something beyond my control and I will see to it that this young lady does not get the chance to do it to anyone else.

As I read this, I could see what was coming. I do feel for you, but the fact is that you walked in with this woman, walked with her for a period of time, paid for the items that were hers in the cart, and started to walk out with her. Keep in mind that Walmart security has no idea the relationship you have with this woman. All they know is that she was trying to steal merchandise and you were with her. That is more than enough for them to detain you and call the police.

I do wish you the best of luck in beating the criminal and civil cases, but you really can't blame Walmart for their actions. Yes, you may not be on camera in the same sections that she was in, but they will have you on camera walking in, walking with, and attempting to walk out with her. Had I been in the security woman's shoes and heard you tell the story you just told, I would have trouble believing you as well. Why in the world would even let this woman into your car? You're lucky if this is all that happened. She could have robbed you, taken your car, even killed you. Again, as you stated, you didn't know this woman.

Let this be a lesson in trust. You didn't know this woman, yet she has put you in this position. I hope you do find her and bring her to justice.
