Walmart broke glass frame with switched lenses

Here is a copy of my letter dated August 2, 2010, that I sent to Walmart Home Office. I have yet to receive an response, not even an apology.

I have recently visited Vision Care to have my eyes examine and to order new lenses for my eye glasses. Everything leading up to and including my eye examination with Marcus Meadows was professional. Everything thereafter was just sloppy, but not until I picked up my glasses Friday July 30, did I realized the scope of the sloppiness.

The associate broke my eye glass frames while trying to replace the old lenses with the new ones. My $275 frames were no longer useable. Both the store manager and the associate knew the importance of these glasses to me. I had purchased the frames in Germany. I was disappointed and shocked when the store manager came out to tell me that my glasses had been broken while trying to take out the right lens of my glasses. The store manager gave me damaged frames with an apologize and refund for the lenses of $189.

In addition, the Office Manager stated that “this is why we don’t like to put new lenses in frames that a customer brings in.” However, both the manager and associate initially assured me that Vision Care could put new lenses in my old frames. Had either one warned me of the possibility of damaging my glasses, then I would have not moved ahead in purchasing new lenses for my eye glass frame.

I returned to another optometrist where I had purchased my original frames. I called Vision Care and requested faxing my prescription to this optometrist store which was done. When the optometrist examined my glasses, she discovered that my the lenses in the broken frames had been reversed. That is, my right lens, the stronger one, was placed in the left eye glass frame and the right in the opposite one. I recalled mentioning to the associate after she took out the lenses for measuring that something was different about my glasses and continued to think so for nearly a week while awaiting my new lenses. She assured me that they were the same lenses. She didn’t even check. The associate had mistakenly reverse them (left lens for the right eye; the right lens for the left eye). This is clearly demonstrating a lack of skill and carelessness on her part and partly explains why she broke my frames.

I’m angry about my broken frames, imported from Germany-- but my sense is that this could have been prevented had the associate been a little more careful had she return the lenses to their correct side. Then my frame breakage would not have happened.

To date I have not received a response from either the local store or from Walmart Home Office.

Um, this could have been prevented by not getting eyeglasses at Walmart. Duh! If you cared so much about your frames, why did you go to someplace like Walmart for your lenses? Of course they are cheap...whatcha expect?

Walmart site is a scam to gather email address

Walmart water injected in to meat products

Hello
I think your Pork / Beef - Chicken has to much water added to it.
Your lower price on products are offset by weight of water added. Looks like bait and switch to me. Selling water for .20 cent's an ounce's is a great idea (For Walmart) $25 per gallon approximately $3 per pound. Motor Oil in your automotive department is only about .10 cents per ounce. Your low price are not so low when you factor in water added and its not noted on the label. I look forward to your reply Thank you Glen

DO people really have the time to complaint about stupid things? Just don't buy it and buy it from a butcher that sells their "FRESH" (supposedly) product for double the price. LOL. I think your head is actually injected with stupidity for even posting this complaint. Just to let you know, I do not work for walmart. HAHA

Walmart theft during walmart oil change

I took my vehicle in for a routine oil change at Walmart in early Jan 2011. During the oil change, I did some shopping in the store. Unfortunately, I got the oil changed but had my IPOD stolen from the compartment between the two front seats. They also took the cord connecting the IPOD to the sound system. I did not discover the IPOD missing for a week or so, so it makes it difficult to prove -- this is what these dishonest employees conunt on. Beware, do not leave your valuables unsecured in the car duing a Walmart oil change.

Walmart selling expired dairy products

This Walmart is selling expired yogurt so please be very careful. I've tried telling their employees about expired yogurt but nothing has been done. I came across this incident on January 3, 2011 and just recently January 28, 2011. The same product and the same expiration date 12-10-10 on both occasions. These yogurts are my kid’s favorite. I believe this was the cause of us getting sick on Dec 2010 with terrible stomach aches. We had to take medication for days. My family and I shopped there because of the prices being lower than other stores but that’s over. I rather pay more for the better of my family’s health. Plus no matter how rushed I am I will now make it a habit to check for expiration on all food products period.

Walmart racial profiling

Today my family and I, went to the Northside WalMart in lethbridge one hour a way from home. We were there to buy supplies for our baby. Didn't take long for security to start following us around. Personally I'm sick and tried of this happening to us, what can we do about this?

The first comment is to the white lady who had the child and was perfectly satisfied with being followed. It may have been warranted. I find sometimes certain people come to stores just so their children can have a playground to play in. I'm thinking that was the case. So brovo for your shadow. The second comment is for the person who was followed from clothes rack to clothes rack; ever been shopping while black ? It is easy to have snyde things to say about real issues when you have never experienced them, especially on regular bases. I am a middle aged african-american woman (but I look younger) and spend literally thousands of dollars in Walmart yearly but I always experience racial profiling. I have observed the act being perpetuated on the african-american youths often also. I have a problem with you people that don't overtly admit that there are some real unresolved racial issues . However, comments like "just get over it" and attempting to compare a white experience in a store with a african-american or black experience in a store situation, speaks volumes. I believe insensitivity and hatred is what makes people say things like "get over it". When somebody is disrespectful to a white person continuously it's an issue but african-americans should just get over it. We put on the back burner far too much already. It is time that we stopped just getting over it . Walmart and many other stores practice racial profiling or they support it by turning a blind eye, kind of like your comments indicate. No all negative things do not have a racial base, most things do, however. As for teaching our children racism, children learn from their experiences. If they do not experience racism, they will not learn racism. So, don't YOU teach my children racism(we wouldn't because that is not OUR nature) and if it's all the same to you, I have learned enough of it also. So, covertly and overtly you can stop teaching us now . We already know what racism is and contrary to your belief we do know how to recognize it.

yeah I go to Zellers all the time but stopped going there because of being followed around (and I KNOW I am being followed because I go really early when it first opens and there is hardly anyone else is in the store, and I am literally followed from cloths rack to cloths rack and being watched so they are not exactly subtle) and I am a middle aged white woman. All your complaints seem to cry racism. You will never be a happy person until you stop that nonsense and move on with your life. And by the way don't teach that attitude to your child.

Walmart worst shopping experience

The worst shopping experience I’ve had in my sixty-three years was at Walmart in Pembroke Pines, Florida (Pines Street and 184 Avenue)
For my son’s birthday, I’ve decided to purchase a Coleman two-burner stove for camping. At the mentioned Walmart, I purchased the last one on the shelf (it cost me $49.99 plus $3.00 for the extended warranty plus tax) and, three days after, I gave it to my son on his birthday. That was the 17 January 2011.
Two days later, my son called me to ask if the stove was refurbished or used. Upon my negative answer, he asked me to go and see it. Indeed, the stove had portions of caked grease in the bottom and the chrome grills were blue with use.
I was angry and surprised that at a place with a name like Walmart you could spend good money on garbage like this. But mostly, that my gift to my son on his birthday was trashed.
I took it back to said Walmart store, to Customer Service, and asked to speak with the manager. The CS manager said she was busy but she could take care of me. When she looked at the unit and said that I could pick another one, I started feeling annoyed for, of course I knew I could pick another, but it would have felt better if someone would have apologized for the mishap.
There were no more of the unit at the store. I spoke with the department salesperson that got someone else with a sku reader. He said that there were supposed to be 2 units in the store. In any case, there weren’t so he promised they would be ordered and received from the warehouse within three days.
I waited one week and returned. There were no units at the shelf. As I was leaving swearing I would never return, I saw several managers and approached them. Lucky enough, one of them was the store manager, Denise, whom I explained the situation. She called on Jose, an assistant manager, with instructions to solve the case and give me a gift certificate for my troubles. Jose investigated and said that the units were never ordered, that he would do so, and offered to give me one of two compensations: a certificate for $15.00 or the unit, when it arrived, for $10.00. I said I needed the unit. Thus he said he would call me upon their arrival and keep one aside for me at the front.
Three days later, I received a phone message from Jose, saying that the unit had arrived and I could come to pick it up. I went on Monday (today, my day off from work) and asked for Jose at the CS desk. They said he wasn’t in. I explained the situation to the CS manager and whether he had left anything for me. She said no one there knew anything about it, but she would call another assistant manager.
Tony came in. He knew nothing. We went to the back, the camping department. The units were there, as Jose had said. Then, Tony said he could not honor Jose’s word but rather he could drop $10.00 from the price of a new one.
I was really angry and frustrated by now. I decided to leave and never to enter another Walmart store the rest of my life. But, on the way out, I decided to speak with Denise, the manager. The CS manager said that she was in the store but not available.
At this point, I just want to close the page. I will buy the stove in another place, any place, any price, I don’t care, as long as it is not Walmart, for this or any product. Amen.

Walmart rip off

FYI WalMart is the biggest RipOff since sliced bread. You buy something in the morning and try to return it in the afternoon without a receipt and they will give you a lower price return. Another problem is no receipt . . . and they know it is there product they always give you a hard time for your return and say you can only return 3 times within a year without a receipt. . which is BS . . I guess that is why they can be the lowest price around because they ripoff so many people, but is it worth it?

I'm getting pretty sick of their crap and I hope people open their eyes to it.

Ok, let's play along. Let us say the product you purchased in the morning is a product that is not only just sold at Walmart, but is also only sold at that particular Walmart. Ok. Now, you come in to return the product and you have no receipt. Following me so far? Now, prove to me you didn't steal it.

Here is a novel idea. Don't act like a five year old and throw a receipt away like it is a meaningless piece of paper. Hold on to it until you know that the product is really what you want and that it is all there/in working order.

I rarely go to Wal Mart. I still remember the days they proudly boasted how they sold "American Made" products. What a joke that's turned out to be. Made in China labels are on about everything in this and most other box stores. I remember a time when factorys abound in America, Today they're about all gone; wonder why we have much fewer jobs? DUH!

Next time this happens it is important that you notify management and call the police as soon as you notice. Which means if you look down and don't see it then don't drive away.

If you came out tomorrow morning and something was stolen out of your car you would.
A) Call the police and file a report
B) File a complaint on complaintsboard.com
C) Both

If you chose B then you choo-choo-choose wrong.

Walmart return policy

Purchased air mattress on 1/12/2011. During the checkout my mom specifically ask what the return policy is. The cashier stated: 90 days, with original receipt and original box. On 1/31/2011 I went to return aboved mentioned item. I am told that air mattresses must be returned in 15 days and they will only exchange for another air mattress of equal or greater value. I asked where this policy was stated as it was NOT on my receipt and the cashier told me the aboved mentioned return policy. The customer service employee pointed to a sign on the back wall at the return counter. I then walked to the check out lanes to see where the return policy was printed...NOT THERE. I then walked to the area of the store where the air mattresses are...NOTHING posted there either. I then found an Assistant Manager, Robyn. I explained the situation and told her I would be happy with a store credit...she looked at my reciept and said, "Sorry that was a new cashier that gave you the wrong information." I then reminded her that nothing is posted anywhere in the store other than the return area...which I would not have seen as I did not there to make my purchase. Robyn then explained to me that they had moved the air mattresses from the sporting goods department and that they had not yet moved the return policy sign...She refused to correct the mistake of the cashier and the store for not properly notifying customers. Anyother store I have ever shopped at would have corrected this situation by allowing the customer to return the item for store credit (I have over 5 years retail experience and my sister has 15. Neither one of us has ever worked for any retail store that would not have corrected this situation to save the customer relationship and foster customer loyality).

Too many people buy nice air mattresses to put up visiting friends and family for the weekend, then return them expecting a full refund after they have been used. I was wondering when Walmart was going to address this. 15 days is still a generous return time frame. I would start charging a 20% restocking fee on returned items with no manufacturing defects.

Walmart direct deposit not happening on time

Direct deposits did not occur as scheduled. The excuse without an apology that they are offering is that they are having technical issues. There is no estimated time as to when the problem will get resolved or moreover, what the real problem is. Through more than 20 years of banking, this is a first. All I can say is, "UNACCEPTABLE." My city is fortunate to be blessed with a wonderful weekend of 60 degree temperatures in the middle of winter, after weeks of freezing cold, but Wal-Mart screws it up with a no-show of direct deposit...so I have no money to spend. I AM PISSED! I count on the money that I earn to be available to me when it is suppose to be. That's not asking too much.

I purchased the Wal-Mart Student Edition MoneyCard however I put all the correction information in the system for activation. The customer service agent stated the system could not verifiy my information and I had to wait 3-5 business days to get a refund of my own money that I downloaded on the card. It was for a family emergency. I never knew there is problem with verifying information from using your own personal money. This is not a good idea and I advise people not to purchase the service from the company it is not very customer friendly it cost me more than it was worth.

Seriously, starchic, are you that irresponsible that you need to use the prepaid card so you won't over draft? Here's an idea, keep track of what you spend and you won't have to worry about over drafts. The last thing in the world I would ever consider is trusting Walmart to do direct deposit. Just get a normal bank account, let your funds be deposited there, then either take the money out or use a debit card and buy a prepaid card. Just remember one thing...Walmart is not a bank.

Walmart racial profiling.

This is a complaint about both WalMarts in Lethbridge. It seems to me everytime me and my wife and our 9 month old son do our shopping in either of the two WalMarts we always get followed around by the security, the "undercover" security people. At times I try to ignore it, but it gets tiring. Why do they do this to us? We spend alot money there. We don't just spend a few dollars there we spend hundreds or sometime thousands a year! I think I might bring my business elsewhere if this doesn't stop! I truly hate those people. I wish they will stop doing that to us Native people!

I live in Lethbridge, and i feel it is too bad that the hundreds of awful native people here have ruined it for the five of you that hold a job, dont live off the goverment and dont recieve your thousands of dollars you spend at Walmart from the goverment, i am also 100% sure you dont drink or steal, my suggestion all of you on the reserve should pool your thousands of dollars together and build your own walmart or move all together, I have lived many places and am NOT racist but since i have moved to Lethbridge i have been disgusted, i have had 2 cars stolen both from natives, my pop cans stolen out of my yard from a native, not to mention the natives litter the park, fill the shelter and welfare office, this is the reason you get a bad wrap, its alays the same story and oh of course we are all racist, its really hard and i believe in not lumping a group of people together but the natives here deserve it - move some where else actually anywhere else you wouldnt be treated like that i am sure i have lived alot of places this group here is terrible, oh and i am quite sure you ill write me back and correct me on the fact that you do have a job?

Walmart extended warranty

We purchased a extended warranty from walmart for my son's computer and they are not standing up to the warranty promise. We sent the computer in to be fix for a crack in the plastic around the screen and they say that it is not covered. The warranty says they cover damages from normal wear and tear and also defects in materials and workmanship. Seems to me this would fall in one of the catagories, but they say no. Then on top of that they were not going to send the computer back to us. Not to mention the warranty also says if they can not fix it they will replace it. They have had the computer for 3 weeks now. It is time they send it back.

they didn't expend any time on labor... to see a crack in the case (it would have been described in the rma complaint). give them the money for shipping and get it back. THEN, if you want a warranty covering electrocution after you spill a glass of water into some electronics... TRIPLE check that it is covered before you pay for it

Walmart rude/ disrespectful trearment

while checking out Cashier Gale @ reg 15. I was treated rudely by the cashier, while she was polite and curtious to the Black (African American ) customers before and after me . The cashier how is Black (African American) I am white . Why is it a few years back a white female cashier whom made a rude comment to a black person was publicly fired and dragged through the mud . But black/ african americans can treat rudely, belittle, make raciest comments aginst white people whom have never in this century or any other owned or oppressed Black/African Americans. My family migrated from Poland during WW1. Why should I be treated poorly, because of someone whom i have never met treated someone inhumanly. Blacks are allowed to have black schools/collages, scholarships, etc. whites ARE NOT allowed these things. Gale the walmart cashier treated me disrespectfully and rudely ... Nothing will be done and I will just be seen as a racist cause i complained about it. Well you and your store are the racist for treating me rudely cause i am white. I am not a racist for demanding to be treated with respect. NAACP isn't racist's for fighting for black civil right . I am NOT racist for fighting for mine. I have turned in shopplifters in your store, reported stolen merchandise. And now your store spits in my face. TR# 00936 @ reg 15 cashier Gale.

It's unfortunate that you feel like she disrespected you due to your race, but posting her name online where we will never hear her side of the story is uncalled for. Please edit her name out. If you really feel like she was prejudiced against you, and aren't simply exaggerating because she was AS friendly as you feel she should have been, take your complaint to 1-800-walmart.

Often times we as humans dwell entirely way to much on race issues. I do agree that whites are seen to be more racist when they do something degrading as oppose to blacks. However, this perception is just a result of America's history and generations of both whites and blacks perceiving each other in a negative light. i have had problems with black and white people in various stores but i associate their behavior as being rude and nasty not necessary racist. yes African-Americans do have colleges ( to which many do not use to their full advantage) but what does that have to do with anything? without those HBCU, higher education for many blacks would have never existed. It sounds to me as if you had a CUSTOMER SERVICE problem. That along would have pissed me off no matter what store, but I have found many walmart associates to have this problem. i agree with Brenda, you should have gone to management or contacted corporate. Good Luck...

Walmart lack of employees to serve the customer

My husband and I shop several times a week at Walmart in Benton buying most all of our groceries there, but the service is going downhill due to lack of employees. I have had to look for help in the fabric department. Once someone from another department had to help me as there was no one working in fabrics. Today, I rang the bell and waited for quite sometime, rang it again and finally walked off leaving my fabric on the cutting table. I am a busy woman and do not have time to search for employees to help me because there is not enough employees scheduled to work. I do not want to drive to Little Rock for my fabric but that is what I will do from now on. Your service to the people is not very good at this point.

I had problems with pharmacy in Wal Mart in Benton AR. They did not send my insurance company the correct NDC number for a prescription renewal so ins. would not pay. They said the called the ins. company and could not get a explanation. I called ins. company and they told me about Wal Mart entering the wrong NDC number. I got a good explanation so not sure why Wal Mart said they did not. Also have had problems with them not charging seconday ins. for prescriptions. I mention it to them and they run it back thru. Makes me wonder what else they are doing wrong with our medicine.

Walmart employees

They never can help you, I call for the baker deptment. I was on hold for about 20 minute, I have to order 50 cup cakes for a school party. Called back and the phone was never answered. There some people there that act like it hurt them to help you, they get smart with you, I went to get a phone card and the girl was setting on the floor mess with the movies, I ask her if I could pay my phone card she made a very ugly face at me like it was a big bother to her, what I think this is a very small town and every one know you, I believe it has a lot to do with this. I know a lots of people that will go to tayor tx. To get there shopping done. Please take some kind of acting, I spent about 1500. To 2000. Pr. Month @ your stores, now I have to go to tayor to order my cupcakes. I appreciate if you would please respone to [protected]@yahoo.com

Walmart unethical hiring & relationship

I deployed to Afghanistan in march of 2010. Sometime before I left, my wife of almost 21 years started an affair with a manager at one of the Colorado Springs Walmarts. His name is Bill Hood and he lives in Colorado Springs. His wife had left him so he decides to convince my wife to shack up with him. So shortly after I deployed he uses his position and influence to get my wife hired at his store. She worked for about 3 months and quit. But I can't believe Walmart (which wants you to believe they are such a pillar of the community) would allow their employees to get away with this.

I'm not bitter, I think it's sad and funny in a way. Think about it. A manager at Walmart uses his position to get his girlfriend hired, but only because she is his girlfriend. But yet folks out there are still unemployed. Call me old fashioned but it comes down to values.

yeah, my wife is to blame too, but that doesn't excuse his conduct.

There's nothing unethical about her getting hired. She knew someone who could vouch for her being qualified. Yeah, he shouldn't have been boning an employee...but that's not Walmart's fault. That's squarely between your wife and the guy she's sleeping with.

Walmart fired illegaly

Well I worked a Wal-mart for about a month.
I was always very respectable and also A good hard worker who took pride in what I did.
Well 1 night at our meeting I came in to talk to the manager.
I wont disclose names being I don't want to get sued when really I should be suing them.
Well I sit on the floor at the meeting as usual
and waited for the manager Who's name starts with a R. to yet finished and converse with me.
Well the manager told me to get off his floor and to go home. I asked if it were possible to come back and work a double since he wanted me to go home.
well I went home and came back to work like I do daily.
Another manager came up to me and asked why I was there. I replied to work of course.
Just then he told me that the manager from yesterday had fired me. When I asked why he did not say but later found out that The manager whose name begins with R. Lied and said I cussed him out.
Is this Illegal I believe so.
Lies cheats and Dirty products being dragged across the floor "Old Meat that is"
By the way my pregnant girlfriend is working there she has for a year or so and they stick her in Housewares carrying heavy items and equipment just recently a pile of thick heavy mirrors fell on her.
please some one respond to this and let me know my legal status and if I could file a lawsuit. Thank You.

Update: Got a new job at M.I.C
Thanks everyone who left me a reply.
Welfare is not a option. I'm a Italian white mutt.
Im not even sure if we are accepted for such service.
I think that's only for certain race's not being mine,
and as for a life insurance policy sounds nice but also very illegal.
Id rather not do illegal things since I will be bringing a beautiful life into this world.
Thank all of you with mature helpful comments.
Also thank the rest of you for your input.

Unfortunately under 3 months, they can fire you for looking at them wrong.

Whhaaaaaaahhhh! They did you a favor. Now you can go get a job at the nudie bar booths mopping up jizz. That is until they fire you for eating on the job. Eating jizz of course.

If you work in an at-will employment state then there is nothing you can do. If not, you can give a lawsuit a try if you're really sure you didn't do anything.

Your pregnant girlfriend should bring in a doctors note that advises against her work-load.

The company was founded in 1962 by Sam Walton and has since grown to become one of the largest retailers in the world. Walmart's headquarters are located in Bentonville, Arkansas, and the company has over 11,000 stores in 27 countries worldwide.

Walmart is known for its low prices and wide selection of products. The company offers a variety of goods, including groceries, clothing, electronics, home goods, and more. Walmart's online store, walmart.com, allows customers to shop for products from the comfort of their own homes and have them delivered directly to their doorstep.

In addition to its retail operations, Walmart is also involved in a number of philanthropic efforts. The company has donated millions of dollars to various charitable organizations and has launched initiatives to support education, hunger relief, and sustainability.

Walmart has faced criticism in the past for its labor practices and impact on small businesses. However, the company has taken steps to improve its image and has implemented policies to increase wages and benefits for its employees.

Overall, Walmart is a major player in the retail industry and continues to expand its reach both in-store and online. With its focus on low prices and customer convenience, the company is likely to remain a popular shopping destination for years to come.
