I have seen a lot of complaints about UPS and I have no doubt in my mind that they are correct. I work for UPS. They are the most self-centered, dishonest and discriminatory company as far as I know. As with lot of companies, the phrase “who you know is who you blow” applies here too. Having the unpleasant experience of being in the “pool” for part-time management promotion, it seems that all the candidates that are hired are young, inexperienced and should we say... less intelligent. And these people are managing the real people who are handling your packages and making the money for the upper management who decides where it is wasted... upper management of course!

It is funny to see when they are pinching minutes from the occupational (i.e. hourly employees) in order to save money and shoveling it to the management. But hey, that’s free enterprise procedure.

After having the experience of several years at UPS, they have literally liquidated my loyalty. I use to be loyal to UPS and do my job to the best, but today work is still done to the best, but the loyalty is gone. And this is due to the discriminatory and dishonest way of dealing with people. I got screwed in the process and I’m sure there are more to count. If I may say something that UPS did right, was the color they chose. It is brown, and it reflects the color of ###. BIG ###.

The troubles at UPS are endless. Employee turnover is horrible and since they are treating the people as they are, word gets around and eventually you run out of employees. But that is something that they are not concerned. Also, UPS wants to be the “safety organization of the world” but anything that is unsafe is usually ignored and even if acknowledged, it takes forever to fix it. So when you say UPS, might as well say “ooops...” .

So for all the people out there, you are NOT stuck with UPS. Use FedEx, USPS (United States Postal Services) or DHL. I was actually shocked to find out that FedEx “ground” is CHEAPER than UPS after they bought out a low cost package carrier. FedEx is more reliable in my mind and I cannot remember having complaint about them. Postal services have more alternatives than ever before and you can always check DHL references on-line. I am personally applying a job at DHL just for the challenge. I know that I can contribute to them or any other company more than I can to UPS. Knowledge increases the pain they say, and now I know what they meant by that. So please be noted that I do not like UPS just for the reason that I do know the truth.

Peace, Upser.

I ordered a package. A delivery attempt was made while I was at work but needs a signature. I go online to reschedule the delivery date. I could not reschedule a delivery date for the next day so I schedule it for 2 days later. No problem right? WRONG! Waited all day for the package and called to confirm that it was at least en-route. Customer service rep said It is guaranteed to be there by 7pm that night. GUARANTEED! In fact she guaranteed it 3x! This package was never delivered and no notice on door. I call AGAIN the next day. Customer service rep said the package was never picked up from the store house and that I rescheduled the delivery date for a date that was too soon. Now you tell me, if the date was too soon, why was there no second attempt on the second day? So I call again and the customer service rep GUARANTEES that someone will call me by 10am Monday. This never happens. I call them and give them my work number. They never call. I get home and they have already made a delivery attempt, 1 hour before I requested! I call again and get another guarantee that someone will call. This time they actually did! And to think this is now 6 days later! Finally I got the package but what a nightmare! DO NOT USE UPS! Unreliable Piece of S!

ups took away a parcel without sending me a ticket to attach then 3 months later a demand notice was sent to me for over twice the cost of the parcel. I had to get a bank statement to prove my payment to these people or leave my self open to a civil action.

Transglobal were as much to blame as they are part of UPS and took my on-line payment niether party admitted they were to blame .
They should go back to the States I know the Americans would run it
better as they always complain about hotel services

If you knew it was going to rain, why didn't you come up with some way to have the package protected from the rain? UPS simply delivers packages from one point to another; it's not their responsibility to make sure that your package is protected AFTER they have delivered it because you're too lazy to come up with a solution yourself. Were they suppose to break in to your house to make sure it was inside when they left? The fault is with you and the people who packaged your item for delivery (in other words, who you bought it from), not UPS.

They do tell you, and even if they didn't, 2 minutes of searching and you woul have found out; it's nobody's fault except your own.

I agree with everything that is being said about working for UPS. I know a friend of mine who works there and he told me that his supervisor is racist and discriminates against him. No matter how hard he works and how many long grueling hours he works as a driver his employer still treats him like dirt.
Also, they make the drivers work really long hours with low wages and don't pay them overtime for their work. They also have a reputation for yelling at their employees for no reason and have supervisors working their with poor management skills. UPS has a bad reputation with customers
and with their employees. If UPS really cared about their customers they would stop delivering damaged
shipments to their customers.

I worked for UPS for three years, two and half as a supervisor (Upstate New York). They break every labor law imaginable. I had to file a sexual harassment suit when my boss called me on a vacation week. 3 times in 24 hours, two of which were at 1am and 3am and he called me a "f-in cu*t". They have such uneducated package handlers working for them that they don't think anyone knows the law, and that they can treat people like dirt. And it's sad that they get away with it.
They've got so much money to brainwash people with advertising that surprise, it works! Advertising and brainwashing is the name of the game now'a'days. Not laws.
I would NEVER ship or support this company in ANY way.
To prove a point managers would throw dell computers around the warehouse. They would scream that they would f***ing kill employees every single night. They would talk about f***ing females in front of the 10 females in the entire warehouse.
Seriously, it is the grossest company I have ever known of.
If any employee brought in a camera, or if anyone actually did a real audit of UPS in upstate NY, they would be shut down without a doubt.
I would testify in anyway I could be of assistance.

Oh yeah, and concerning customers. They refused to give out a number. I worked in the office sometimes with clerks, and seriously customers are an annoyance and joke to them.

My problem is, they do not deliver period. They do not knock or ring bells, if they do they wait 5 seconds then leave. And to make things worst they do not leave the yellow and brown notice, like they suppose to do. You complaint to the station and nothing happens. The answer is " are you comming to picked up" yeah right, thats why we pay them to do that job. It takes me 42 miles round trip to pick up packages. No were to complaint, no phone, no online, no nothing, piece of ### for service.

UPS sucks. We ship out $500-1000 a week with them and thinking about switching the rest of our business over to Fedex as it seems they give a damn. Finally had it when we had a large delivery attempt before our posted business hours and they wouldn't bring them back that day.

Damaged packages and horrible customer service, what a brand promise.

UPS is completely incompetent. Twice in the last month I have ordered items to be delivered to me at my office. Twice these deliveries were returned to the shipper without notification to me because the local UPS office decided NOT to deliver to the address ON THE BOX, but to an old prior address. (Our office moved to a new location a few months ago, but I know UPS has been notified because we do get deliveries from them. )

I've made several calls to UPS corporate and local and they can't or won't do anything about it. I'm not sure exactly why things are returned because they "can't find the recipient" when they have my phone # and address right in front of them.

We delivered some stands to Dubline using Parcel force, who for some reasons out sourced it to UPS.
We got charged by parcel force and then UPS realised that they also have account for us, HURRAY since then we are receiving invoices and reminders.
We got back and provided them with paid evidences. But of no avail they have blocked our account. Parcel Force have faxed documents (copies to us) many time but I think it is one ****ED UP company.

Who ever sent the package is who UPS deals with. You must use the UPS store. It really has no connection with UPS. You can usually ship to the Post Office also. If you shipped a package from the UPS Store, they will have to file a claim if the package is lost. As far as a driver not knocking on the door for a signature, that is crazy. Why would they want to make another attempt the next day. It would benefit nobody to not knock on the door. Maybe you just started a load of clothes in the washer or whatever. One thing is for sure. Do not bring any packages back because what you did not get rid of today will always have to be brought out again the next day.

After working at UPS for over 30 years it amazes me that people complain because drivers come late. That is because drivers deliver till they are done. Unlike other carriers that just do not finish their deliveries till the next day. As for leaving packages without being signed for. Unless the shipper pays for signiture required, your package will be left in a safe place. With all the people that work, you would never get anything delivered. Then people would want it redelivered that day after they get home. If you live in a bad part of town, packages will not be left. Also if you live in an apartment building with doors everyone has access to, your package will not be left, unless it states on the package it is ok to do so. If a driver left the package at an apartment building and the package was stolen, the driver could have to pay for it. UPS bends over so much for its customers. Try using the post office. if your mailbox is at the end of your driveway they can leave your package there. They close early, so if you missed the delivery, try to get it. Try to be a new driver on a route and figure out where to leave a package. Drivers are taught that if the front porch is not safe, to find a better delivery point. If that is a open garage, back porch or wherever. My goodness people, we are not mind readers. We try to put your package in the safest place to keep it out of the elements for you. We consider every package as the guest of honor. Some people are just hard to keep happy.

I delivered a table to be shipped to an Ebay auction winner. They called the winner that night and had said the leg was damaged and glued back on by the owner. me. When I called them the next day, they said no leg was damaged, that the table had developed a "crack" and needed repair.

The table was delivered in perfect condition to their store at 1400 w. devon in Chicago. Lynn, the owner was either involved in this coverup or her staff is lying to her. Either way, AVOID THEM.

What ever happened to customer service? I was supposed to receive a 2nd Day Air letter yesterday. Web site said "out for delivery." At 9:48 p.m., they logged it back in, never having attempted delivery. Today, it's now 4:00 p.m., and it's once again "out for delivery." UPS charges more than FedEx for the same listed service, and FedEx actually delivers! The company that sent me the package has been sending 50-100 pieces daily. Tomorrow, they start with FedEx! Thank God. I intend to have stickers made for the back of the UPS trucks. Their sign says "1-800-PICK-UPS" In intend to cover the PI with an FU, for all the world to see!

A package was delivered to my house on 26FEB09 at 2:45pm. I was not home, so it was left next to my side door, which is fine.

The problem is that the box (about 10x10x6”) was simply left sitting on the concrete; it was not in a plastic bag. Since it rained all day, the box was thoroughly soaked by the time I found it. Just so this is perfectly clear: it was raining when the cardboard box was left sitting on my driveway.

Luckily, the product inside was securely wrapped in a plastic bag, but the water caused the packing material to melt and stick to it, making quite a mess. And of course, the box was weakened, making it difficult to handle.

FedEx drivers bag their deliveries if the weather calls for rain or snow. Between this mess and my last package being delivered so late in the evening (7:45), I have asked my suppliers to use the US Postal Service or FedEx.

Well to start off with, I've bought a lot of items on Ebay, that I need to restore my car. While most sellers will give you the option of shipping postal or UPS, the bigger companies (CJ Mustangs, for example) will only ship UPS, from US to Canada. Most emails to most of the major sellers will send it to you USPS, if requested. It may cost it bit more (a few dollars more than UPS) but the quoted price is the delivered price, no extra costs. I've had several deliveries from those so called companies that will only ship UPS to Canada, and believe me, shipping will almost cost you twice more, than what you originally paid them for the shipping charges. Now I dont mean if you paid them say $18.00 for shipping and it came to door collect for another $18.00, I'm talking about paying upfront $18.00 for shipping, and it comes to front door with another $30.00 owing. Why the reason for this? Believe me I've wasted more time than money is worth, just to find out why, and after countless emails and phone calls, I was sort of given the reason for the extra charges. Apperantly when an item crosses the border, they claim a broker is needed if the value exceeds $20.00. Since a broker is needed, they apparently pay all the brokerage fees(they have their own brokers), as well the import fees, as well as a fee for doing all this. Now they have lots of names for all this extra BS incurred. And dont forget that delivery fee. In the end, if a seller only offers UPS to Canada, from the US, forget even bidding on that item. First time I did it, item cost me twice what I could've bought for here in Canada. Second time a so reputable company (CJ) said they only ship UPS to Canada, so I paid their shipping fee, and lo and behold, I ended up paying more than the part was worth, due to extra incurred delivery, brokerage, import, and all the other BS charges. I have, on the other hand, dealt with some decent mustang part suppliers, that will go out of their way to ship the most reasonable way to Canada, postal being the 1st choice, of course. And the best thing is, that some of these items qualify for 1st class shipping, depending on weight or size. To end this all off, and not to tirade on UPS, I can just think think of one old saying I heard once. Your BS reminds of the color of your eyes. And what is the UPS primary color? Yup, it's that color.

I bought a hard drive from the United States and it was delivered to me by UPS. I bought it for 150 USD. I payed 70 USD transport costs. Still cheaper then i would pay where i live. So ok i ordered it and one week later UPS arrived at my door. The driver told me i could get the package if i payed an extra 45 EURO. I only had 50 EURO's and he couldn't pay me back so i had the chose of paying him the 50 EURO's or him taking the package with him. I gave him the 50 EURO's because i needed it badly. I was getting pretty annoyed because it started to cost me a lot of money. All went well for 3 months and then i got an invoice saying i had to may an extra 20 EURO's but the weird thing was the invoice was in another language. So i called customer service and they couldn't even tell me what the extra costs were for. So i asked him to send me a new invoice in my language but until today i didn't recieve any invoice.

Until today (1 year later) i've been avoiding UPS but today i ordered something without knowing it's being send by UPS. When i got the email that the package was send by UPS i got worried. I hope deliver my package and don't let me make a chose between my package and paying the extra cost i still have to pay. After one year that's not gonna be cheap.

So to describe UPS, they are a bunch of ###s that charge you for whatever they want and for how many they want. Even 3 months after they delivered your package. It's a descrase !

Hi,

I paid $35 to the Bloomington MN UPS Store (#4519) to return a $600 Sony HDTV that I purchased online from B&H Photo (in NYC). I told Randall it was $600 in value. I was not offered insurance, so I thought UPS would be responsible. I packed it in the same box, styrofoam, and air bags it came with. According to B&H Photo, the package was damaged when it arrived. B&H Photo (Shiya Herzog [protected] x 6862) said it looked like a forklift had punched right through the box. A claim was issued, and the local UPS Store informed that UPS has denied the claim and I am out both the $600 purchase and $35 shipping charge. The UPS Store said that regardless of whether or not I had purchased insurance, if UPS Corporate denies the claim, they won't pay. Their reason for denying the claim is "It wasn't packed properly". Now B&H Photo / UPS is returning the broken HDTV to me. So I paid $635 for a TV that doesn't work.

UPS is horrible and they're all liars, from customer service online to the delivery drivers.

Had a package this week that HAD absolutely HAD to get to the destination by Friday. I made that clear, crystal clear to everyone I spoke to all the way down to the driver that this was medicine for my mother and it was imperative that it be there by Friday, no mistakes. If not I said I needed to know so I could make other arrangements to ensure it got there by today.

Well, in trying to track the package today I find that its not up for delivery today, it won't be delivered until MONDAY which means my mother doesn't have her emphazyma medication for four days becuase they lied to me. When I called back today I was apologized to (for whatever use that is, won't help my mother get her medicne) and was told the service they selected for me wouldn't get it there until Monday. They all are liars, everyone that answers the phone at UPS is a liar and they'll tell you ANYTHING to get your money. ANYTHING.

BEWARE don't use them if its important that your package get somewhere--it won't with them and they'll lie or not answer their phone in order to take your money.

UPS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST! I had some bad experiences with them from sorry drivers who don't scan in the upc code which gives the tracking to the current incident.

They all have attitudes when you can and you pay for services you don't get. I mean geez. I paid for second day air and get 4 day ###!

I quit UPS before and only used Federal Express and/or snail mail. HOWEVER, THIS TIME I AM DONE WITH UPS and personally I hope that UPS ends up being on the news and out of business. Trusting them with your package means poor customer service, negative attitudes, defensiveness and a lack of customer satisfaction.

They need a new delivery service to ACTUALLY give Fed Ex competition. Brown (UPS) chose the color brown because they are NOT worth a ###!

ups is grand about deligating out deliveries at christmas time to thieves. who fill out the paperwork to say the package was delivered and the package never was. i have proof of this. which ups has denied and sent me back to the poor people who sent the package out in the first place..(now this was my money of course) this is to get them to initiate an investigation. now mind you. i bought the item... its my money... i have no item and ups is looking to the other company to reimburse for AN ITEM THAT WAS LOST OR STOLEN. what idiots ive dealt with... im tired of it... a lawsuit will ensue...

I ordered a Christmas present online for my future father-in-law. I was so excited because I had put a lot of thought and attention into the gift (it took about 6 months to plan everything to be just right) and wanted him to receive it on Christmas Eve from the guy in Brown. For some reason it snowed a lot this year which is absolutely unusual. He lives about 15 miles outside of Seattle so they were hit pretty hard with the snow as well. I checked online throughout the whole entire day to see where the package was--at first they posted it was out for delivery, which I was surprised to see they even attempted. But about 2 hours later, they reposted and said it was not deliverable due to weather condition. I'm a pretty understanding person, so I knew it wasn't going to happen as I had planned. So I waited, and waited..the snow is quickly going away with the rain..and still no UPS driver. I was expecting the package to come yesterday (Monday--after the long weekend)-so I took a day off of work and waited, still no package in hand. I figured since the package was here in town, I can just call and arrange a pick (with my receipt and shipping information in hand) which I thought would be much easier since they were probably backed up. Come to find out--I can't even do that. I just have to wait everyday until January 2nd (which is the time they claim to get the package to me). They should be more flexible especially around the holidays--I am willing to go out of my way to pick this package up (waste my own time and gas). I can't wait around all day-everyday for when they feel is the right weather condition to deliver my package. It's clear-the roads are nice and dry-sunny-and about 42 degrees right now-I wonder if UPS will want to deliver today!

I absolutely recommend USPS. They have never failed me and always delivered my package sooner than the time expected. I can't say that for UPS. Even though their names are somewhat similar, their services, willingness, and care are completely opposite.

Sincerely,
ONE ANGRY UPS CUSTOMER

I ordered a camera to my parents address for Christmas. My parents live in Seattle and I was visiting them for the Holidays. I live in LA. So I thought since my package won't be delivered to me in LA on time, I ordered it to be shipped to my parents address. Naturally, I couldn't wait to get a hold of it. So, the camera was originally scheduled to be delivered on the 24th. Yes, there was a bit of snow this year, but I could drive my car around, the regular USPS trucks were going. But aparently for the USPS trucks that was enough to call it adverse weather conditions and cancel most of their deliveries. A good excuse not to do their job if you ask me! Needless to say, not only my camera wasn't delivered on the 24th, they didn't deliver it on Friday the 26th or today, the Saturday when most of the snow is already melted and UPS is supposed to be working. Now it's rescheduled to be delivered for the day when I'm going back to CA. Won't be too much of use for me since I'll be gone by then! What I really wanted was to be able to use it during the New Years and I won't be able to do that! I'm furious with UPS!

I live in a small town in Canada, about 30 000 people live out here. But UPS does not deliver out here...why? Because it is considered underpopulated. So to mediate this they contract out to Purolater. I asked them where my six days late package was (truck parts I had to cancel a mechanic appointment) and they said it was out in Port McNiell...I didn't even know where that it is. Apparently its an island town of 2000 people.
So I called Port Mcniell looking for my package. Surprise Surprise they did not have it but they told me to call UPS again. I did and they told me to call Purolater...Surprise Surprise they didn't have a clue what to say to me other then they could not help me. SO I called my mother (who happens to work at the Post Office) and asked what the hell I should do, her response was clear. She said I bet your package is at this store. And it was, so I had to drive an hour and a half to get it.

Whats worse is I asked for the package to be delivered USPS and the company said they would but sent it UPS instead. I am so upset and will refuse to do business with people who use UPS for shipping. Period no more exceptions. As a small business owner I will NOT USE UPS.

You are right about having them pack it. If the employees at a UPS store pack your package then the insurance will be covered no matter what, even if they pack it improperly. If you just buy the box and stuff from them though to save money, UPS can claim that a package wasn't properly packed and deny the claim. UPS store charges kind of a lot for their packing service but if it is an expensive item it will be well worth it if something happens.

I was awaiting for a package on 11-26 scheduled for delivery. Behold driver claims he came by and no one was home. Wrong there was someone home. After getting on the phone with UPS call center I was told to wait for a phone call within an hour form a supervisor. Waited one hr and 10 mins, so I called back. Was told by the supervisor that the package was going to be delivered on Friday, because it was not delivered on Wed. Called Friday once again was told that the package would be delivered, that it was on a truck bla bla bla at 9pm called the call center back and was told no that my package would be delivered on Monday that my package was never on a truck to be delived that Friday. Get this too the driver had gone to apt 1410 instead of my apt 410. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH UPS THEY ARE AWFULL.

I have a different issue with UPS. This morning, seven fraudulent charges appeared on my debit card account for $398 dollars. When contacted UPS, I was routed through four different phone numbers. I spoke with six different areas that were rude and and acted as if they did not believe that I was a victim of an unauthorized transaction. They refused to help me since I did not have detailed information from the person that initiated the transaction - only my debit card number. I was told twice that they saw the transactions - and twice that they did not. They told me that they could not - or would not help me. While waiting on a non-existent return call from their corporate security - "Sue" called me back telling me that they had no record of a transaction - come to find out - she was calling "Jodi" back - another hapless victim they were lying to. I asked "Sue" if this was a widespread issue and she agreed that they did this to COUNTLESS people that they refused to help and lied to. I am livid - I have rent to pay and cannot afford to be robbed by UPS!

I so agree, I paid 31.05 for a next day air package only to have it arrive at the same time a ground package I sent the day before, for 5.00 according to them it was raining and so it was delayed! you have to be kidding me! a hurricane maybe, but rain, so they screwed me out of 25.00 which is non-refundable due to weather...from now on I will be using FEDEX a little rain never slows them down and if it is late...they have no problem refunding your money!

I sent out a parcel to Venezuela on the 07/07/2008 on an Express Saver.
This parcel was for a friend’s birthday on the 16/07/2008.
A week later a contacted UPS to find out where the parcel was, UPS said that they would have to contact the forwarder in Venezuela and they would came back to me.
They never did, I called again and they told me that they needed 8 days to investigate the situation, 10 days later and I was still waiting for the response. I kept calling and every time I was told “I am sorry sir but I will have to contact the investigation team, I will call you strait back”.
Again they never did.
Yesterday 20th August 2008 the company that I work for got an invoice to pay £94.14 for the delivery to Venezuela, when I paid cash on collection of the parcel.
the last thing that they did was to contact my friend in Venezuela to ask if the parcel was delivered.
Final result his that the parcel is still not delivered and they roan the surprise because they contacted my friend.

I paid to have a package delivered to me & was guarenteed to be delivered by mon 7/28 before 7:00pm. After tracking it for the hole day & UPS saying it was on the truck it never got delivered.. I have tryed to track this package with several times 7 get nothing but the run around & also refuse to let me talk to a manager as well as give a refund for the money i paid to have it delivered. I have became very angry with this situation & have had no assisstance in makeing the situation any better by UPS. They also informed me to go pick up my own package after i paid to have it delivered this is ### & so is there company if anything ill never use UPS again there full of it & worth less when something is needed by a certain time. Brown will get you there YEAH RIGHT GET YOU PISSED OFF THAT ALL!

I ordered some things from a nursery... 3 trees... I get delivery here all the time by UPS and often they screw it up. This time, the idiot couldnt find my address. No calls for directions from him or anything! I called the office 3 TIMES and gave directions.. Still a no show. Last call to them they said they would re schedule delivery on Monday.. that waould 4 days from the supposed delivery date. These are LIVE trees! and cannot be in a box that long. I told them to foget it, I would pick them up myself. I paid 50.00 in shipping charges and then have to pick them up myself? Well, the next day I drove out to get my trees... This is in Sallisaw Oklahoma. What do I find? Locked doors. So I walked around to the back loading dock. No one. I started calling out hello! Finally I found a guy hid out in a small building. He took my shipping statement and went to find my parcel. You wont believe what we found there at the Sallisaw UPS Depot. There were packages strewn everywhere around laying in the dirt, tossed under a picnic table and even out in the parking area (gravel and dirt in behind the UPS depot where they load trucks.) I picked a couple of them up, and they were full, taped, and addresses on them for shipping. And here they were tossed in the dirt, gravel and hot sun, just laying out there. Anyone could just walk off with them. Not stacked up, not in a neat pile... I'm saying it looked like they just threw them out and left them lay where they landed. No wonder UPS is always losing packages for people! Its probably stuck under a bumper or a wild dog drug if off somewhere. I couldn't believe it! These people need put out of business and they have lost me as a long time customer. I have always shipped UPS and I do alot of shipping with our business. No more!

UPS is unreliable. I had the same experiences many times and I don't use UPS any more.
