I have seen a lot of complaints about UPS and I have no doubt in my mind that they are correct. I work for UPS. They are the most self-centered, dishonest and discriminatory company as far as I know. As with lot of companies, the phrase “who you know is who you blow” applies here too. Having the unpleasant experience of being in the “pool” for part-time management promotion, it seems that all the candidates that are hired are young, inexperienced and should we say... less intelligent. And these people are managing the real people who are handling your packages and making the money for the upper management who decides where it is wasted... upper management of course!

It is funny to see when they are pinching minutes from the occupational (i.e. hourly employees) in order to save money and shoveling it to the management. But hey, that’s free enterprise procedure.

After having the experience of several years at UPS, they have literally liquidated my loyalty. I use to be loyal to UPS and do my job to the best, but today work is still done to the best, but the loyalty is gone. And this is due to the discriminatory and dishonest way of dealing with people. I got screwed in the process and I’m sure there are more to count. If I may say something that UPS did right, was the color they chose. It is brown, and it reflects the color of ###. BIG ###.

The troubles at UPS are endless. Employee turnover is horrible and since they are treating the people as they are, word gets around and eventually you run out of employees. But that is something that they are not concerned. Also, UPS wants to be the “safety organization of the world” but anything that is unsafe is usually ignored and even if acknowledged, it takes forever to fix it. So when you say UPS, might as well say “ooops...” .

So for all the people out there, you are NOT stuck with UPS. Use FedEx, USPS (United States Postal Services) or DHL. I was actually shocked to find out that FedEx “ground” is CHEAPER than UPS after they bought out a low cost package carrier. FedEx is more reliable in my mind and I cannot remember having complaint about them. Postal services have more alternatives than ever before and you can always check DHL references on-line. I am personally applying a job at DHL just for the challenge. I know that I can contribute to them or any other company more than I can to UPS. Knowledge increases the pain they say, and now I know what they meant by that. So please be noted that I do not like UPS just for the reason that I do know the truth.

Peace, Upser.

Please note that your UPS delivery driver can't put the wrong time down for delivery attempts! All deliveries are prerecorded into his/her computer (Diad) and tagged via GPS satellite when each delivery is attempted. I read so many posts of angry and disgruntled customers who claim the driver never attempted delivery of falsified delivery time. This is impossible because every mile & step of a driver is tracked via GPS...

This is wrong. The DIAD can give a false time for a delivery. I worked at UPS for over 20 years. It is common knowledge within UPS. Scans can also added manually. How often does anyone check the GPS position of a claimed delivery attempt?

UPS...
Just like EVERY other (shipping) company out there, it is made up of the individuals within it. They either have PERSONAL integrity, standards with focus & drive on doing the right things OR they want to cut corners and are looking for things ($, time, work, etc.) to come easy. You can look to any company and you will find both types of people. Have I been happy with UPS? What it stands/allows for within it's corporation? NO! NOT ALWAYS!
Remember: That's certain people~ NOT UPS as a whole.
We are all human. We all make mistakes. It's what each of us as individuals choose to do from there forward.

Terrible UPS experience. Amazingly we received a delivery note within the context of both my partner and myself being in the property, without tv/radio turned on and windows open to hear the knock/buzz from the front door. Neither of us heard any knock on the door or doorbell ring. We're are so frustrated with the outcome considering we made every effort not to miss this delivery. We are convinced the only attempt of delivery was just the delivery of the note to end a work shift sooner. Now we have to wait until Monday for the delivery of a fragile item that now has to travel for a longer period.I doubt our complain will come to any constructive/positive outcome but hopefully if there are enough customers who complain on the same matter that it might suggest the UPS driver/all drivers may need further training, i.e, knock...wait...knock...wait

Store botched copy and scan job twice. Failed to check it both times. Did not seem to know how to operate their own office machines. Rude to customers. Made me return to store two times to fix job. Left me waiting while they took a 1.5 hr lunch.

The disclaimer "due to adverse weather" is standard. That's why it is never wise to purchase these "guarantees" or the insurance they sell you, etc. You will usually be denied, at their whim when attempting to collect. Now you know. By the way, UPS is having some real problems of late and are attempting to blame it all on the "weather." The real problem is management from the top and union workers on the bottom who could care less about doing a good job. Combined, both of these are causing the problems at UPS. Best to ship anything with FedEx anyway. Much better and more reliable.

this is one of the most ridiculous complaints on this website.

The delivery times are estimates only. What if the driver got stuck in traffic and arrived an hour later than the time? Would you blame him for the traffic jam?

Of course you would, but anyone with common sense would not.

UPS does not provide delivery times. They have estimated times. This is Christmas season. they are working well into the night. There is no way any shipping company that handles that many parcels can gurantee a delivery time. Next time, find someone who lives near the shipper, have them go by and pick up the merchandise, drive to your house and bring it it a predetermined time, then drive back home. That should be easy to arrange for a couple of grand.

I ordered some medical supplies aka parts for a machine paid for 2 days shipping and 2 days has turned in to 7 days later and nothing.
i was suppose to receive my packages by the 4th of December and here we are on the 10th and nothing and all i get from UPS is sorry they were missed at the facility, or the driver scanned them but forgot to load them or they were never unloaded from the trucks.
I say this i used to love UPS but after waiting 7 days to get my packages when the USPS has been on the money as well as Fed-Ex, its just no excuse. they tried saying they have 10 times the packages every one else does and informed them that the USPS has more packages than them my sister works for them so i know. i paid for UPS because of this reason. Its the holiday season and USPS some times gets back logged but they still manage to get it there on time. I tried asking for a supervisor and instead of getting transferred i have been hung up on not once not twice but 20 times. the local facility cares nothing about if you get you're packages or not as she told me they will have a business with out me as a costumer and could not care less. after hearing this i asked to speak to her supervisor because i wanted to file a complaint she just starts screaming at me and hangs up the phone so i called the regular number and file a complaint but none ever gets record days later and i keep trying and nothing is getting done.
This is the dumbest thing i have ever seen the trash of the world is running things and we as costumers have no rights and have to sit on our back sides and beg to get our things. I wish there was something i could do about this situation but i am heading for day 8 and i have no hope i will get my packages.

We found out my father was in his last days of life and had to cancel a planned trip to NYC for a concert. We sold our concert tickets to a fellow fan on the band website for face value of $234. We went to the UPS Store and spent $40 for guaranteed overnight delivery so the buyer could get the tickets by noon the next day to go to the show that night. We watched the online tracking and it showed the package making it to the person's town and OUT FOR DELIVERY at 9AM that day...the tickets never showed up and the delivery wasn't made until 10AM on the next business day, rendering the tickets worthless. If you EVER have a critical delivery to be made, don't ever think that ANY amount of money or promises will guarantee a delivery by UPS. They ruined the plans of the buyer and cost us over $250. Looks like the UPS driver decided to stop in at a bar and watch March Madness for the day instead of making the delivery on time or even a couple hours late. The UPS website is designed to give you a complete runaround to make a claim also, asking for an account number when you clearly don't have one even after signing up on their website.

UPS is a union style company that pays its employees well. Unfortunately, none of them deserve it because the service truly blows. One recent delivery experience I had was to have my package left down stairs by the mail boxes in the carport area of My 8 unit APT complex; unsigned for. I live upstairs in APT 4. Apparently the driver could'nt be bothered delivering the package to My door. Often times they never even knock or seek a signature, just dropping off a delivery somewhere outside for anyone to nab. Once I had a package delivered 5 miles away to the wrong address. Most recently, I had to return my laptop for warranty work, and the manufacturer sent me a shipping box UPS. Although they dont deliver on wk ends, including the usual turn around it should have been sent back out in 3 to 5 days. However, the first day the empty box arrived at the last minute around 7pm I had finally gone out to take care of some things so the driver did not leave the box for lack of a signature for an empty box. Day 2, same late day delivery after 6p so that I had no time to pack and return it to the depot. Effectively taking 3 days for what should have been a one day turn around. Having sent it 2 day air, it is now in the sixth day of delivery including dormant weekends and should arrive at the mfg with just a 10 day window before the work order was to expire. Thats 12 days just to get it back to the repair center if the work order is not already expired. Never mind the likely 6 day return window after repairs. Not including repair time, something like 18 days to 3 wks to get My pc back. Outrageous no doubt and I'm not even sure the order will not expire before the work gets done. No wonder people hate UPS delivery service. Your all probably cursing whenever you see those UPS commercials on TV.

I ordered from a catalog, one week later I received a recording from UPS. The recording informed me that me package needed a signature and it will be delivered on 10-01-09 between 8 am and 7 pm. I waited at home the entire day and no package. I used the traking system and it showed it on time to be delivered 10/01/09. Now I guess I waste another day sitting around waiting for my package.

The ups delivery (what a joke) person has a grudge. 4 times I have made formal complaints of not getting my package. Instead I get a note on the door. Even after filling out and signing, the next day a new note appears. The 3rd day, you get to go pick it up. This driver is union. and they don't care. THEY DO NOT DELIVER.

this is discrimination, this is harrassment. This is one company screaming for a class action suit. A neighbor has witnessed that same driver does not carry the package up, does not knock or ring bell, simply puts a new note on the door to replace the one he takes down and apparently throws away.

Ups tried to deliver a package one day that needed a signature, left me a message when they would try deliver again. I was home and waiting, when online they left a message saying they did not have my apt #. I have had this happen before and I believe they use it as an excuse. They could not confirm when it would get delivered. Really crappy customer service. No where on their website can you file a complaint. What do they think, if there is no where to submit a complaint they don't exist? I will never choose them again as a carrier.

Over the years I've seen UPS go from good to bad. To save money and time they now only ring the doorbell, and leave your package at your doorstep. I once had a computer delivered like this, and couldn't believe it was just left there.

Today my package was delivered in a box that looked like it was straight out of the garbage can. I saw that *** delivery guy scurry away as fast as he could before I could answer the door. Unbelievable. Even if I wanted to complain, he was already too far to do so.

To Whom it May Concern:

I am writing to express my disappointment and distress with the UPS customer service that continues to be provided.

On December 20th. 2007, A personal shipment originated from my business address in Pennsylvania going to Connecticut. The package was pre-paid and left for pick up. As scheduled, the package was received by the UPS driver and sent. The delivery guarantee was for End of business on December 21st. 2007.

The importance of the information provided in terms of the delivery guarantee was tantamount to me sending out the item.

Considering the holiday season and the need for the item to be sent out on time and delivered, was the reason why it was sent out UPS ground in the first place. I could have used FED EX, DHL or the US Postal service, but I was told by other users that your service is reliable and should I need to have something sent out and be sure it gets delivered, I should always use UPS.

I was told by UPS that they would ship an item to me today and i stayed home the entire time. because it's a huge house, i left a note on the door to tell the mailman to knock hard. however, at the end of the day, ups.com's tracking info told me that "i was not available the time they shipped to me at 4 pm" and i "failed to sign".

Waited all day to have a package delivered. No one came, yet UPS claims that the driver came for delivery and could not find me. There is no delivery note. The driver called my place to ask for directions earlier during the day. I guess he could not find it and decided to save himself the trouble. I filed a complaint and will see what happens.

UPS delivery service has continued to get worse over the last several years. I speak here of not just MY service, but UPS's general corporate approach to service. Their philosophy is that the shipper pays the bill, so recipients can take a hike. The standard practice by drivers in my area is to toss the package near the door and leave without even bothering to knock.

My most recent example. Shipper sends something requiring my signature. The driver comes but I am not home. No brown/yellow notice was left on my door. Only by checking online can I see an attempt was made. I will be out of town so I wish to change the package to "will call." The website FAQ says you can do make arrangements for other delivery options online, but in fact you cannot. Actually, the website has been redesigned so that customers have no input/contact at all. There are phone numbers posted for shippers to use, potential employees to use ... but NO NUMBER where someone can call about a package delivery issue. Historically, when a company does that, it is a sure sign that the company's product/service has gone straight into the toilet.

Now I am going to drive to The UPS Store to see if I can get it fixed there. They will charge me a fee for picking up there, I feel sure.

I will NEVER specify UPS delivery when buying online again. Even the post office seems to do better anymore.

This poor excuse for actually providing the service the shipper paid for is not entirely surprising to me. When UPS moved to Atlanta, that to me meant it was going to be managed by a bunch of incompetent good ol' boys, basically dumba**es who only know that they should be forever cutting cost by c**pping on customers and employees and they will keep doing that until they wreck the company. A bunch of ###s. Pay attention and you will see that many major corporations based in the Deep South do exactly that.

It's clear that UPS is going to end up the lowest cost, cr*piest service provider in the industry. I recommend that people avoid using UPS shipping whenever possible. It will only get worse. I will now even opt for USPS before UPS.

How can a business so consistently let its customers down yet continue to operate? The latest: the tracking info form states that my package was delivered on 12/19, which is strange because I was home at the time (5:16 p.m.) yet my buzzer never rang and I have not seen a notice anywhere. Yes, it is possible that the apartment manager is irresponsibly holding the package, but is there an excuse for not contacting or notifying me, especially since I was at home at the time? I know they are especially busy this time of year, but you can't press a button or stick up a notice? UPS "customer service" is unreachable either by phone or website. I am left hoping that the apartment manager has my package and waiting 'til Monday to find out.

I have never had any problems with UPS until now. The second to last package delivered was partially opened, though none of the contents were missing. The most recent one had several holes and a few large rips in the packaging. Also, one of the items I had ordered was missing. I called UPS Customer Service, and the rep who answered was polite. She informed me that I would have to notify the company I had ordered from in order to receive a refund or replacement.

The delivery time was fine for UPS Ground.

On a side note, I answered the door within about 10-15 seconds, so I know it couldn't have been someone random passing by or a neighbor.

I purchased an antique painting from Kevin Stone Antiques at 3420 Magazine St, New Orleans, for $2240. Mr. Stone took the painting to UPS Store #4134; their job was to pack and ship it to me in Belvedere, CA. UPS guarantees that the item will arrive in good condition when they do the packing, and that was the case here.

UPS billed my credit card $250.31 on 2/12/10 for the packing, the box, and the shipping. The painting arrived with many instances of damage to the frame, and one instance of damage to the painting itself. Many fragments of the gold paint from the frame were found loose inside the box after it arrived.

I contacted Laurie at the UPS Store in New Orleans and told her about the damage. She took my claim information and asked me for a copy of my purchase invoice for the painting, which I faxed to her. Subsequently, I was contacted by UPS in Northern California about the claim. I emailed numerous digital photos of the painting, showing the damage, to UPS-Northern California. Thereafter, when I asked UPS-Northern California for a resolution to the matter, they said I would have to look to the UPS Store that did the shipping for satisfaction.

After sending the photos (approx. 12 photos in all) I left two messages for Laurie at UPS Store #4134, on March 30th and April 2nd. She did not return either of my calls. On April 28th, I filed a complaint with BBB-Greater New Orleans. BBB has informed me that UPS Store #4134 did not provide any response to the complaint and their deadline for responding has expired.

UPS is a worldwide company and it is because of the corporate reputation that I placed faith in their guarantee and used their service for this shipment.

Since UPS Store #4134 has not honored their commitment, UPS World Headquarters needs to step up to the plate and make good on their company's guarantee. I have been charged $700.00 for having the painting and frame repaired. I have disputed the $250.31 that I paid for the shipping and packing on my credit card; this leaves a net amount of $449.69 that I am due from UPS. I have filed a complaint with BBB-Greater Atlanta and am awaiting restitution.

The worst part about their service is the lack of communication. Through tracking I was told my package was on a van ready to be delivered two days in a row and it never turned up. I got an email at 5:30pm saying it wasn't being delivered due to hazardous weather conditions even though I drive past their depot on my way home and all rival companies eg DHL, FedEx are delivering literally 4 doors down.

They have no option for a delivery slot so you have to take a whole day from 9-7pm off to receive the package and in my case didn't deliver two days in a row. Their customer services are poor as they know nothing more than what is on the tracking page and can't/won't contact local branches.

Will NEVER use again if I can help it.

After a lengthy nightmare exchanging an item on eBay, the seller shipped the replacement via UPS. After watching the tracking info online, I made sure I was home to accept the item. To my suprise, the tracking number, when I checked online that day, said it had been delivered, which was complete bullshcidt. I had to sign up with UPS, create an account to file a claim. Since I had already had issues with the Ebay seller, they werent going to be any help on this issue. In the instructions in filing a claim it basically says you can do so, but without co-operation from the original shipper, dont hold your breath. A couple days later & a knock on the door, I had a guy from 3 buildings away with my package. It hadnt been delivered to 1116 but to 1113 & yet it had been marked as delivered to my address. With mature military folk as neighbors, I knew it had to be an incompetant ### driver who left the package somewhere else & I was right. But this time I got lucky. I got my damn package.
I sold on eBay for 14 years and always shipped through the good old United States Postal Service and NEVER ever was a single package lost or returned. I'll never use UPS to ship. The guy that drives the truck here around Copperas Cove, Texas looks and acts like a crackhead. Very unprofessional. Beware. I always hear cracks about the U.S. postal service. But in truth, theyre completely reliable in my eyes. I've always heard bad stuff about UPS. Now I have first-hand experience.

UPS has cut their workforce to where they can no longer service thier customers. They quietly train their employees to cover up service failures by logging in the delivery as no such #, no such person, or their most common, delivery rescheduled at customers request. On days of difficult weather they cut every third route and have 1/3 of the work on each drivers trucks as emergency conditions. The customer is now secondary, profits are their first priority, even if thats at the customers expense.

Hi
I have send a parcel from Namibia to Angola on the 18th of December. Today is 25th January and the recipient has still not received the goods.
I have made various attempts to contact Ups South Africa and Namibia, but have not received one reply to my mail. Just silence.
I regret it soo much choosing Ups. Ontop of all, the goods were meant for people for the new years eve event. Now the recipients´clients are refusing to accept the goods.
Please, rather use DHL. They might be more expensive, but really, it is not worth the hassle.
I really wish Ups good luck. Carrying on the way they carry on, sooner or later they will be out of business. Certainly won´t see a cent from my pocket.

They are late 3 days, (expedited took them 5 days! ) and when I called to customer support they just put me on hold for half an hour and then hung up on me.So delivery should be tomorrow, and if I will miss it, it will be 6th day already. They totally not care about customers.

This is the email I wanted to send UPS but then I saw how their complaint page was set up and it just felt like it was absolutely useless to send a complaint, it would just go to their circular file. So I decided to post here where they and everyone else can see it:

"I wanted to let you know of my complaint with UPS and also the reason I no longer use UPS for any shipping, and try to avoid getting stuff via UPS as well, when possible.

So today I was expecting a package that I really needed for my computer. I checked for it several times during the day and it never came. I was home all day and the entry buzzer is connected to my phone so if they'd call I'd have a record of it.

So at 12:30 tonight am I checked my email and saw that the package had arrived - at 6:03pm.

**We were home** at 6:03pm.

We received no call/ no buzzer from downstairs.

This means the UPS driver did not even attempt to notify us the package was here, he just dropped it off IN THE LOBBY by the front door and did not bother to try to gain entry by calling us. I had this happen time and time again in the last year that I used UPS for shipping and that's why I now try to avoid UPS. They won't call up on the buzzer, they'll just leave stuff downstairs with no notification or attempt to gain access to our apartment. Also they used to say we weren't home when we were, so they could avoid delivery that day and do it the next day, presumably when they felt they'd have more time to spare. Our buzzer works. Everyone else uses it, no problem. We have call waiting. If someone buzzes us we get it on call waiting.

So today they did not buzz, they just left the package. You'll just have to trust me, I have no reason to lie about it. This was the only call received today because I have viatalk which logs all incoming and outgoing calls. The only incoming call today was my wife's friend and that was well after 6pm when the package was delivered. If UPS wants to see proof I will show them our CALL LOG for the day.

The fact is UPS drivers (not all but most that deliver around here) are lazy and/or irresponsible and won't take the time to buzz us when we get a package (this has happened many times) and sometimes they just leave and say we weren't home. (I've had that happen several times on days I was anxiously waiting for a package, even stayed home to make sure I received the package, only later to find out they said we weren't home.)

Just thought you might like to know why we never choose UPS any more - aside from your higher prices!"

UPS engages in Age Discrimination. They only hire younger workers with strong backs, even though I know some over-50 people who work just as hard. BTW, I am a former UPS employee. All the employee complaints documented here are valid. Stay away from them!

o I had an order from Coach coming via UPS when I noticed the tracking looked a bit funny.

Houston, TX, United States 08/31/2012 3:56 P.M. Arrival Scan

Jacksonville, FL, United States 08/29/2012 4:41 A.M. Departure Scan

Jacksonville, FL, United States 08/28/2012 7:42 P.M. Origin Scan

United States 08/28/2012 9:39 A.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS

It is obvious that something doesn't look right here, why would it go back to the origin city? OK, so passed that it was supposed to be delivered on 8/31/12. That day come and went and nothing. I called UPS just to have them tell me that I was supposed to have gotten my package on Friday 8/31 and that they don't know where my package is! I made them start an investigation, and still nothing. I have the horrible feeling that my package it's not going to reappeared. How can this happen?

Hi UPS,

It baffles me that I have no way of relaying my concerns to this company in a manner that it will be treated with respect and considered seriously, rather than to call a center and receive polite but unhelpful customer service and then to receive a phone call from someone who couldn't care less about the concerns of a customer, just concerned to get them off the phone.

While in the past I have only had a few let downs from this company after tonight my faith in this established corporation has massively dwindled. This event was caused due to callous behavior, in regards to a medical package sent through your delivering service. Instead of completing a delivery that took multiple days and left a patient without their much needed medical supplies, a new driver and their supervisor felt it wiser to just mark the delivery as attempted, however with security cameras on premise this has been verified to be a false claim. But due to their inability to navigate and read the patient is without their medical supplies, as the supervisor who did call was too baffled by this revelation to actually be helpful or allow for a retry as it was the driver's fault and not the patients that the delivery failed.

Also the attempt for contacting the patient was delayed until conveniently a half hour prior to the building closing. This entire incident reminds me that while I am not a fan of fed ex due to their inability to actually notify the person of their presence before leaving a package, at least I know that a new driver is not trained to just ditch a few orders by their supervisor as everyone just covers for them, and the customer has to suffer from their callous and unprofessional methods. In conclusion, UPS suffers from poor communication, customer service and training.

Thanks so much for wasting a few of my days and placing a consumer of yours in a dangerous health situation!

Sincerely,
Someone who has had enough.

UPS screwed up a delivery for me, the driver put that he needed the access code to my building to deliver the package. The problem with that is I don't live in a security building or a gated apartment complex. When I called after several attempts to get through to someone who would listen I ended up with a supervisor named Steve who told me that the package was not delivered because Caltrans was doing street work, another lie.

Steve would not even tell me what he was supervisor of, I later found out he works at the Alisos Viejo DC.

I feel customer service just keeps passing the call around. Not providing correct information in order to wear out the customers for moving forward with their complaints.

They won't provide proper phone numbers to call, as the phones for managers can't receive calls, they can only dial out, lie after lie after lie.

UPS is a poorly managed company with horrible customer service!
