TurboTax TurboTax

I have been using TurboTax for years, but this year I ran into problems when attempting to e-file. I paid for the state e-file as well. My e-file was rejected by the IRS, stating my AGI was different than last year. I ordered a transcript of my taxes from the IRS only to find they were exactly the same. So I read some posts from in the TurboTax "community", those in similar situations as me. Someone stated that if you change the AGI to zero, that might work, and if it doesn't, you will have to file by paper. I changed my AGI to zero, but again the e-file was rejected stating the AGI doesn't match. When you get rejected by the IRS, the state automatically rejects your e-file as well. I asked if I can get my money back because I can't use what I paid for, only to find I cannot get my money back from TurboTax. I had also tried calling customer service only to never get a human being on the phone, wasting several hours of my time. The date of the rejections are several, and I'm not sure of my account number. I do know my user name if that helps...

I had this exact same problem yesterday 5/15/2021. I kept getting rejection after rejection stating the AGI did not match. Even after pulling my transcript from 2019 to find the AGI did match, it rejected again. This is a SCAM! Someone needs to investigate this. I will be checking with the the local district attorney office to see how this can be investigated.

TurboTax TurboTax Deluxe

This is an absolute disgrace !
After getting the same message for months after using the "get latest updates" choice Turbotax only provided an indication that the software would be updated shortly with 1099R instructions. only to get within days of the last day for filing to find that Tubotax was not updating properly.
I had to find, with considerable time and effort, that Turbotax's "get latest updates" button was likely not working properly and that a manual update was necessary to get past the misleading Turbotax message that an update for 1099R instructions was still pending.
Certainly this information should have come from Intuit NOT a third party !
Very poor customer relations for a software package that we pay for !

Desired outcome: A minimum of an apology and assurance that this will never occur again.

TurboTax Deluxe intuit

I bought the package for CD or download. Neither worked as I received message that I had Windows 7 and had to upgrade my computer to use.
I have very complicated taxes but find I can do as fast by hand even though I have about 12 pages. Turbotax jerks you around from place to place and if you have already done your calculations for Schedules A, B, C, D, E, social security, forms such as 4797, 8960, and 8995A for instance, why can't you just fill in forms and have turbotax calculate your tax? Why can't one of you with facility at this make a much simpler version. It will sell well. Just advertise saying"Simply fill your data right on the forms and we will calculate for you".
No sending you around from place to place. No constant overriding.
For the general public who know how to add, subtract, and multiply, turbotax is not doing any favors and also I think impedes the understanding of the workings of the tax laws and consequently your ability to plan favorably for yourself.

No where can I find out where my refund is, and the irs phone number is just a recording. This product needs to be more human interacting.

TurboTax Turbo Tax E File refund Pre Paid Visa card

I filed my return for 2020 through Turbo Tax and refund was to go to Intuit Turbo pre paid visa issued by Green Dot. The IRS issued the refund 4/6/21. I have never been notified through email to register an account nor did I ever receive the pre paid card. When calling their customer service line [protected] they ask for the card number or my social. As I don't have a card I put in my social and birthday, it keeps telling me that no account exists. So now they are holding my return hostage and I can even get through to a agent to correct the situation and or for them to issue a card in the first place.

TurboTax TurboTax Home and Business (2019 and 2020)

I purchased 2019 and 2020 with 5 activation licenses. These were installed on five different computers. When I go back later to view or ammend my returns, instead of booting into turbo tax, it boots into the activation screen. When I put in my activation code, I get the error that 5 are already in use and my program can not be activated. I bought and paid for 5 copies, thats all I have, but when I want to review my returns, the damn program wont open. I have been on the phone with turbo tax no less than 5 times for hours. NO resolution.

TurboTax Deluxe

I got both stimulus checks in 2020 from the COVID-19 Relief act and I entered that into the TurboTax Deluxe Software as YES I received both stimulus checks and their records showed that I did receive both. I was expecting $872 back on my Federal taxes and it's a good thing I have savings unlike a lot of other people who lost their homes and businesses, because I wasn't completely depending on that amount back, but it would have been nice to supplement everything. I was checking the status of my refund on the IRS website with the original $872 number for 2 months after the 21 days of submitting my taxes through TurboTax and I finally got my refund back but it was only $272. I waited for the IRS letter to come and it shows that I had claimed the Rebate Recovery Credit which is what you claim if you did not get one of your stimulus checks. As I had answered YES I did receive them both on the original filing date, the only other solution is that TurboTax's software made a mistake and entered that I needed the Rebate Recovery Credit on line 30 of the 2020 1040, because the IRS shows that is what was entered.

I just called the IRS twice- the first time the agent I spoke to said that there was no way to look at the transcript/analytics of where you clicked on each question. However, my boyfriend was a witness to me filling out the form in the first place, and I took screenshots of how I entered the answers as YES on the question about getting both stimulus checks, and when I go back to "amend" my tax form, all the information I entered is there and shows I did enter YES. So the first agent did not know what he was talking about, and neither did the second agent who also transferred me to a supervisor by request. The supervisor said that "this has never happened before", "as far as I know, there's no way to check how you answered the questions", and "we can't give you a refund on the amount you paid us for doing your taxes" (paraphrasing).

Desired outcome: A partial to full refund on my TurboTax fees paid for using their 2020 TurboTax Deluxe filing software

This problem with Turbo Tax sounds like they know the filing will be rejected or they are not submitting it in the first place, but they will keep taking everyone's money. I will be telling everyone I know about this including the media to get this out to the general public.

TurboTax Fee for tax return overcharge

I filed my tax return with Turbo Tax on April 13, 2021. The past couple years I filed as self employed, which needs a 1099 form. This has an extra fee, that is added on to the fees of a standard tax return. This time, however, I am not self employed. However, the system still had my 1099 on file and set up the charge for such a return. I realized this after I paid and already put through my credit card information. I took out the 1099 on file, but was unable to change the charge.
I called Turbo Tax and was told to submit a request for a refund. I did so, but that was denied because there refunds on the software edition only and not when done online. Thank you!

Desired outcome: To be refunded the difference

For what ever reason one income reported on federal return didn't carry over to state return and I didn't caught it, STATE DID. It makes me look bad.

TurboTax Premier 2019 accurate guarantee claim #22322 for tax year 2019

I claimed an electric vehicle in 2019 that I bought used. I answered the questions about the vehicle correctly. I assumed a simple check by the software would have caught any errors. It did not and I got fined. All the information was there and available to catch any misunderstanding on my part. This would be a very simple check and ended up being misleading.

TurboTax Inaccurate preparation of tax forms

The attached file will explain my complaint. I was charged $148.90 by Turbo Tax for the preparation and submission of my Federal and State taxes for 2020. The forms was submitted electronically on 2/13/21 by Turbo Tax. After waiting 2 months (today is 9 April 2021) I received the attached information from IRS by logging on to "where is my refund."
I feel l should receive my $148.90 back due to the error/wrong refund amount ($1665 to $465.)
Would like a response asap by text.

TurboTax TurboTax Business

When I go to efile and the program goes thru its final check for error phase, it keeps asking me to correct my company name on multiple forms. My company name is written correctly. It keeps looping back and asking me to correct any errors or update. My software is up to date and there is nothing to fix in my business name. The program will not allow me to transmit. New Jersey and New York both REQUIRE EFILE. So is there a fix coming before the filing due date?

TurboTax Premier

We tried to MERGE our separate investment portfolio information into our TurboTax worksheet and the system has a glitch that would not allow us to merge but ONE investment portfolio. We could have entered the information manually, but that would preclude filing with the IRS electronically.

We FINALLY got a human agent at TT, but the guy was new and had no clue as to solving the problem. We wasted an hour with him and could not bet any assistance whatsoever! The Reps name is Nicholas. A new guy so he said and he had NO CLUE as to how to solve our problem. He essentially told us to go somewhere else as he couldn't help!

Bye Bye Turbo Tax and I will enjoy telling my story to as MANY PEOPLE as I can!

Desired outcome: Get someone in Customer Service who can SOLVE these software glitches!

I am exasperated and extremely disappointed in your tech support for a problem that should be easy to resolve. I reached the point where I was ready to submit for e-file. The reviews had been completed, ready to go...so I thought. I hit a "Ground Hop" do-loop. Your program asked me to continue with my state return or delete it. WHAT! I had just completed everything, to your programs satisfaction. I chose to "continue with state return." The next screen wanted to charge me $45 for the NYS return. March 24, 2021 I had paid $47.70 for the NYS return form download [Order # TTDCRTA147084779 $47.70, TURBOTAX NY TAX YR 2020 WIN DOWNLOAD, 03/24/2021] I spent more that 3 hours on the phone with 2 different tech reps with no resolution. In fairness the 1st rep was really good, unfortunately my cell ran out of minutes during the resolution call, she was really sharp (CASE# [protected] Debora F.) I hope this is the right one. Anyway, my problem is not resolved and I am highly agitated with TurboTax. I waisted hours of my day to no avail. Your product clearly has bugs. Not impressed. TurboTax Untrue advertising.

You advertise "Free, free, free", but you are not. After biting on the bait I find that $7 of fgn tax paid, requires me to upgrade to deluxe, even though the free program works fine. I finally decided to pay the $60, and then found you wanted $50 more for the state return. Bait and switch may work in the short term, but I am moving on. It is a shame since your program is easy to use and accurate. GOODBYE>

TurboTax Turbotax Install Issues

Purchased Turbotax from BestBuy. After installing, PC crashed, unrecoverable. Installing on 2nd PC fails saying license already used. Bestbuy can't help, refers to Turbotax help. Turbotax customer service no help even after a full hour of troubleshooting.
So far, $ and lots of time wasted.

TurboTax Premier 2020

I have been using Turbo Tax for many years and have generally been satisfied. However the 2020 Premier version contained many confusing tracks and new additions that were misleading for taxpayers.

Number 1 complaint is that TT has not made any form changes to allow filing electronically for USA citizen with NRA family members. I have required this function for the last three (3) years and had to file a paper return by Overnight mail at great expense. How hard is it to add the IRS recommended NRA box instead of spouse social security number?

If this is not included for 2021 then I will be purchasing different tax software that allows me to e-file like Tax Authority or Taxact.

TurboTax Has given me a return that has been rejected four times by the fed govt. So-called "expert" phone reps unable to fix the problem.

I have gone through the whole online "fix-it" process several times, talked to two alleged experts, refiled and received more rejections from the government because of an "IND-526" error. The alleged error has to do with my wife's birth date, which I have verified.

The rep today essentially had me file the same return yet one more time and receive another rejection. His only suggestion was to call the Social Security office, which has nothing to do with error IND-526. He could not figure out the problem, so in the end he just passed the buck.

I'm tired of talking with phone reps who are learning on the job and wasting literally hours of my time.

Please get me someone who knows what he or she is talking about immediately. I am disputing my credit card payment on the grounds that you have not provided the service I paid for.

Desired outcome: Fix my return so it is accepted or refund my payment.

TurboTax Tax submital

Completed form will not transmit to irs
I have completed all boxes. But it wants me to submit a form regarding selling my house.
I have not sold my house at all.
Intuit Rep could not correct the glitch in your software.
I spent 90 minutes on the phone and still can't get it to send. The Turbotax rep could not get it to work either. He could not figure it out.
The form is completed but it just keeps kicking it back. I need someone to contact me.

TurboTax Turbotax

It is very disconcerting how I trusted Intuit's TurboTax to do taxes for my family and Turbotax resulted in allocation of much more wages than my wife and I had at the NJ state level when she was working in New York while residing in NJ. The allocation of wages had to be done manually for each state and could easily be overlooked and incorrect. We were surprised TurboTax never fixed this bug. It even has been written about extensively online. When I contacted executive leadership, they had me speak with what they called a TurboTax expert at Intuit who didn't deny what I encountered. These errors were costly to my family and Intuit has made it crystal clear it is my problem and not theirs, their final position is they will do nothing regarding all the money they caused me to lose because of their buggy software.

Desired outcome: They should make good on my losses they caused.

TurboTax turbotax free edition 2020

Initially this year I was thrilled since so much more information from the prior year got imported.

Then I tried to enter my disability income from insurance carried when I was a pastor. I spent hours trying to get the form to accept it, to no avail. It can't go in the retirement income section because it doesn't come with a 1099-R, there's no place for it under miscellaneous income, and even though the IRS says to report it as "Wages, salaries, tips, etc" TurboTax won't allow that because it only takes income from a W-2.

Last year this problem didn't occur; I had no trouble entering my disability income -- though I recall that the year before that it was impossible as well and I had to use a work-around which I forget.

Under retirement income there should be an option for "Disability Payments to Ministers of Religion", which is the official form sent out to people with that kind of income, or perhaps under disability payments there should be a set of boxes including "1099-R", "Award Letter", and "Other".

And under "Wages, salaries, tips, etc." a W-2 form shouldn't be required; instead there should be boxes such as "Wages (cash)", "Wages (W-2)", "Tips", and "Disability".

If I were to give TurboTax a rating this year I would give it half a star.
