FreeTaxUSA Entering W2 Information by Photograph Not Working

I need to file Married Filing Separately in Arizona which is a community property state. FreeTaxUSA requires that my spouse's W2's be entered by using the FreeTaxUSA photograph app (this is the only option for entering my spouse's information; I could entire mine by downloading an electronic version of the W2 or manually entering it). However, the photograph method does not work. I made several hundred attempts with different lighting and different W2s and nothing worked. I spent about 40 hours setting up the software and taking the photographs. I get the message "we weren't able to capture your W2 information." I now need to find another software that will do Married Filling Separately and Arizona and start all over.

FreeTaxUSA State Tax Return Duplicate Fees

I paid $14.99 to file my state tax return. I was notified the efile was rejected. I logged back in to find my return was erased. I had to start all over. Then asked to pay $14.99 again after redoing my state return. I saw the $14.99 charge posted to my bank account.

There is no way to call about the charge. The phone number has a recorded message stating it does not respond to calls about fees. You must contact support by email. I did that and still in limbo. This is your basis runaround.

I need my state tax return before it disappears again.

FreeTaxUSA 2022 Federal and State Income Tax

I completed my federal and state tax returns for 2022. My federal was free. I had just a W2, simple form. I paid $14.99 for my state tax. That seemed to go okay.

In about April. I realized I should have filed HOH with one dependent. I requested help with this multiple times. Finally, after a month or so, I paid $22.98 for help filing the 1040X.

As of today, 06/19/2023, I've never heard from them. They don't answer my attempts to contact them. Actually, I found 2 phone numbers for their customer service and they were disconnected.

I would greatly appreciate any help i can get. This is so frustrating. I need to get the 1040X filed ASAP.

FreeTaxUSA FreeTaxUSA Review: Unreliable Software and Terrible Customer Service

This company is a complete joke. I wouldn't recommend their software to anyone. I spent hours and hours preparing my federal and state tax returns, only to be met with disappointment when it came time to pay. My card was declined and when I checked with my bank, they confirmed that there was no attempt from the merchant to charge my card. This means that the error was on the merchant's end, which is FreeTaxUSA.

I tried four more credit cards from different banks on two different machines, but none of them worked. I was at my wit's end and decided to contact their support team. I was shocked and angry when I received their response. They basically told me that they couldn't determine why my credit card wouldn't authorize and that if I wanted to file my tax return, I would need to find another service to do so. Can you believe that? Instead of helping me, they were blaming me for the problem.

I don't understand why they couldn't bypass the payment requirement for me and let me file my tax return. Instead, they suggested that I spend all that time again using another software. That's ridiculous. I wasted so much time on their software and now they're telling me to find another one? It's like they don't care about their customers at all.

Overall, I would say that FreeTaxUSA is a terrible company. They don't care about their customers and their software is unreliable. I would recommend that you find another service to file your tax return. Don't waste your time with FreeTaxUSA.

FreeTaxUSA Disappointing Experience with FreeTaxUSA: Site Downtime and Poor Customer Service Response

I gotta say, I was pretty disappointed with my experience on FreeTaxUSA. I mean, come on, tax day is a pretty big deal and the site was down for a whopping 6 hours! The first error message I saw said they were doing scheduled system maintenance on tax day. Seriously? Who does that?

But then, when I checked back later, I saw a new message that said they were having technical difficulties due to heavy traffic. Okay, that's a little more understandable, but still frustrating. The message did say they were working on a fix, so I decided to wait it out.

Six hours later, I still couldn't access my account. I sent an email to customer service and finally got a response. The email basically said that they were experiencing heavy traffic and it might take a while to login, but once I did, I should be able to continue working on my tax return. They also mentioned that if I submitted my tax return late, I might have to pay a small late fee if I owed taxes.

Honestly, I'm not sure if I trust this company to be around for next year's taxes. If they can't handle the traffic on tax day, what makes me think they'll be able to handle it next year? I would definitely recommend backing up your records just in case.

Overall, I was pretty disappointed with FreeTaxUSA. The site downtime was a major inconvenience and the customer service response was lackluster. I'll probably be looking for a different tax filing service next year.

FreeTaxUSA Mixed Experience with FreeTaxUSA: Great for Filing, Lacking in Support

I've been using FreeTaxUSA to file my federal taxes since 2008 and for both federal and state taxes since 2009. I gotta say, it's been a pretty smooth ride up until the 2013 tax year. Before that, I was absolutely in love with how practical and easy it was to file a simple return. But then, in 2013, I filed my taxes on February 8th and received confirmation from FreeTaxUSA that the IRS had accepted my return. They even gave me a confirmation number to prove it.

However, when I later requested a transcript of my 2013 taxes from the IRS to use for my child's student financial aid, I was shocked to find out that they had no record of my return. I submitted two requests, but the IRS kept telling me that they had never received my return.

I reached out to FreeTaxUSA through their website, hoping for some help. They did respond in a timely manner, but unfortunately, their response wasn't very helpful. They told me not to mail my tax return to the IRS because it would be rejected as a duplicate. They also gave me some instructions on how to print a copy of my return. But honestly, that didn't really solve my problem.

As I'm writing this, I'm currently on hold with the IRS Accounts department (***040). I'm hoping that an IRS agent will be able to help me sort out this mess.

Overall, I still think that FreeTaxUSA is a great option for filing taxes, as long as you don't need any support. So just be aware of that.

FreeTaxUSA Disappointing Experience with FreeTaxUSA Customer Service: A Cautionary Tale

So, I gotta tell you about my experience with FreeTaxUSA. I was pretty happy with how easy it was to create my return. I mean, I'm not a tax expert or anything, but I was able to figure it out pretty quickly. But then, I made a big mistake. I forgot my password. I know, I know, it's totally my fault. But still, it was a pain.

Fast forward a few months, and I'm trying to get prequalified to buy a house. And guess what? I need my 2010 return. And I can't get it because I forgot my password. So, I try to use the forgotten password link. I get an email from FreeTaxUSA with my username. I enter my username and my SSN. And then, I get an error message saying they don't match. What the heck? I know it's my SSN and my username. I double check everything, but it still doesn't work.

So, I contact customer service. And let me tell you, they were not helpful at all. They kept telling me I must have the wrong username. But I know I don't. They gave it to me in the email! I went back and forth with them a few times, but they just kept saying the same thing. So, I gave up and ordered a copy of my return from the IRS. It's going to take forever to get it, and now I'm not going to be able to get prequalified in time.

Honestly, I think I should have just used a more reputable tax service like HRBlock or TurboTax. I guess you really do get what you pay for.

FreeTaxUSA FreeTaxUSA's Customer Service is Terrible - Beware of Incorrect Mailing Addresses!

So, I did my taxes on May 1st, and I had to file as married filing separately. I had to send my tax returns by mail, but my husband used FreeTaxUSA too and he was able to file electronically. He already got his refund, but I didn't. I sent my paperwork to the IRS in Fresno on May 3rd, but when I checked my refund status, it was always unavailable. I went back to FreeTaxUSA's website and saw that the mailing address for the federal tax returns was now a Utah address for the IRS, which was not what was on my original paperwork. I still have the pdf to prove it. When I messaged FreeTaxUSA, they told me that the Utah address was always listed and that they didn't know where I got the Fresno address from. That's a lie! They also told me to mail out my tax documents again to the new address! This is the worst customer service ever, especially in a time when people are struggling because of COVID. I will never file with FreeTaxUSA again! It's frustrating because my husband had no issues, but I did. I hope they fix their mistakes and improve their customer service.

FreeTaxUSA Avoid FreeTaxUSA for Social Security Taxes: My Costly Mistake

I gotta say, I tried using FreeTaxUSA to file my taxes for both 2014 and 2015, and boy was that a mistake. I thought I was doing everything right, but in June of 2015, I got a letter from the IRS saying that my taxes were all wrong. Apparently, the taxable social security was calculated incorrectly, and I had to pay an extra $2,000 plus a $90 penalty. And that's not all - since state taxes are figured from federal tax information, my state taxes were also wrong, and I ended up owing another $900 plus a $19 penalty to the state.

I was pretty upset about all this, but I figured it was just a fluke. However, when I had my 2015 taxes checked, I found out that they were also wrong for the same reason - the taxable social security was miscalculated. This time, I owed even more - over $2,000 to the feds and slightly over $1,000 to the state. I had to pay H&R Block to file an amended form to both the feds and the state, and I had to pay penalties to both as well. All in all, this mistake ended up costing me almost $7,000 in back taxes, penalties, and fees to H&R Block.

Now, I don't want to tell anyone what to do, but if you're on social security, I would strongly advise against using FreeTaxUSA. And to make matters worse, the site is supposed to be 100% guaranteed, but there's no way to reach them - no phone, no email, nothing. So how am I supposed to get their guarantee? It's all a bit fishy if you ask me.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience with FreeTaxUSA so that others can avoid making the same mistake I did. Take it from me - sometimes it's worth it to pay a little extra for a professional to do your taxes.

FreeTaxUSA I filed my 2019 taxes using Free Tax USA on / about 1/5

I filed my 2019 taxes using Free Tax USA on / about 1/5. They did not efile due to them being filed late; however, they charged me $14.99 to efile NYS 2019 taxes even though I had to mail them in. I should not have been charged a e-filing fee if I was unable to use the service to file.

I can not electronically or manually get my 1040x out of their system. I made a mistake and paid for too many state returns and their system will not let me delete them so I am stuck. I want my 14.99 cost for the 1040 x refunded to me so I can go somewhere to get my 1040 x done.

FreeTaxUSA File taxes on site that said freetaxUSA

File taxes on site that said freetaxUSA . Finish it, then told to submit to file after paying with credit card. Then it tell me can't e-file because something was wrong with their e-filing system. Took my money out of my account without e-filing my taxes. I want my $35.93 return to my account.

My account privacy has been violated. They (www.freetaxusa.com) gave out my federal and state income tax information to hackers and identity thieves.

FreeTaxUSA I rushed to file my taxes before the deadline

I rushed to file my taxes before the deadline. I got that my E-File was rejected. This means my taxes are now late plus I have to pay a REAL CPA to fix any issues. I am requesting a FULL refund of the $14.99 that was charged for services they did not complete. Also good luck with customer service.

FreeTaxUSA I have filed with freetaxusa for three consecutive years, including 2018

I have filed with freetaxusa for three consecutive years, including 2018. I now need to do an amendment but am being told I have not filed with them. I've reached out to them sending numerous emails as well as verification of my name, address, SSN, and birthdate. There is no number to call, and emails are just repeating themselves. Still can't login or see previous years return.

FreeTaxUSA I filed my 2020 tax return with FREE TAX USA in February

I filed my 2020 tax return with FREE TAX USA in February . I received notification that both the Federal and State returns were accepted. However, on March 15th, I received a letter from the IRS stating that they have NO record of my tax return being filed! To make matters worse, I am on disability and am a single parent. I will not be receiving my stimulus money due to this! HELP ME PLEASE!

I tried to efile my taxes on freetaxusa for 2018 and the system failed to do so kicked back a error.I couple days later I am on mu online bank and notice they never credited my twenty dollar charge back.It was a total waste of time and mailing my taxes is not the answer for me. I need a refund for what didnt work and that is your software system. I sent an email and it was never responded to about the charge.

THEY ARE DECEIVING AND STEALING MONEY FROM TAXPAYERS! They also make it nearly impossible to contact them. I WANT MY $14.99 REFUNDED!

FreeTaxUSA Greetings!

Greetings! I hope this message finds you well! I followed the link from Google to the freetaxusa website stating that I could file my 2018 taxes online even now. After hours of entering information, I paid the fee for the state taxes and the website told me that I could not file online and that I would have to print and mail my taxes. This is not what I need and not what I was told. I would like a refund of the amount paid for the state taxes. Thank you. Sincerely

My check was not deposited into the correct account due to FreeTaxUSA giving Tax products group.com the wrong routing number to deposit into. Please address this issue thank you! THIS POTENTIALLY CREATES AN OBVIOUS ISSUE WITH THE IRS AND THEY NEED TO REDO THE TAXES AND EXPLIAN THE SITUATION TO THE IRS.
