Target Red Cardmiss one payment your #ed

When i was eighteen years old i was new to this credit thing.(this was in 2008). Well ever since i have always made my payment on time it has almost been 2 years now, here recent i have lost my job. Before I lost my job the hours at the work place have been cut back. Well I forgot to make a payment and not to mention the first time. It just slip my mind because i had other bills to pay. well i recieved a call from them and i went made my payment. well on the date of 2/14/2010 i recieve a bill with a exetreme overpriced payment. i understand late charges and stuff like that, but if it just happened one time i think there should be a waiver on a fee like that. with my finical trouble i feel like this big ### corp. could have cut some slack on. so for anybody out there think of get this Target Red Card i highly suggest not because its a ###ing scam. ### TARGET CORP.

Hate Target Red Card Dec 09, 2015

I hate the new Target Red Card with that stupid chip. I have a disability with my hands, making it difficult for me with all this madness just to add extra security on the card. It's much easier for me to swipe, scribble and call it a day when I make purchases. Placing my card in that small slot and having to type a pin defeats the purpose of a credit card. This whole deal makes it difficult on those with disabilities with their hands. I'm not going to give my pin to the cashier.
This was when I decided after being a Target Red Card member since 2006, I would call it quits. No sense of me keeping that card active since I can't shop in store with it.

You may be twenty years old when you wrote this but you are whining and acting like a two year old, it is called taking responsibility for your mistake, you miss a payment and this is the consequences for your actions. Grow up and accept personal responsibility for your mistake.

I, also, am disappointed that Target credit card statements do not itemize purchases. This makes it inconvenient to look over the statement to verify the purchases. It also makes it difficult to distinguish between personal and business purchases. I am disappointed that I cannot use this card as I had planned to. I will be limiting my purchases since I will have to call each month to request receipts to compare against the statement every month.

I just wanted to let people know that even though the Target RedCard statements aren't itemized, if you call them on their toll-free number, [protected], they will mail copies of your receipts to you (it takes 8-10 business days, but it's better than nothing). Also, I mentioned to the representative that a lot of people would like to have their statements itemized, and she said she would forward the recommendation to the people in charge of making that kind of a decision, so if enough people call in and request it, they may change their policy.

This is one of those situations where if you've had a bad experience with the Target RedCard, like myself, you'll agree. If not, you'll rip on the poor guy making the complaint. I don't feel that the RedCard is a complete scam, you get 5% off any store purchase, period. However, there's some dirty tactics going on in the collections department, which leads me to say that it becomes a scam after the purchase is made. The biggest issue I see is a lack of notification of the due date of your bill. For instance, I just made a purchase, $50, three days ago. I've had no mailing, no e-mail, nothing that acknowledges my purchase and indicates my upcoming due date. I've been caught by this card before and learning from those mistakes, which according to their policy are, in fact, my mistakes, I decided to login on-line and check. My RedCard billing due date is 6/1/12, that's less than 10 days from the day I made the purchase. Not right, especially when the quickest I can get a payment to them is going to be 1 or 2 days on-line. I understand they can do this, its not unlawful, but its bad tactics and needs to be made very clear to the customer. Other issue I have (as an IT guy), their security on the log-on for the RedCard, awful. This is not a bank or a credit union. If you want your payment, don't make the password so difficult that folks have to write it down somewhere, your completely voiding the purpose of password security by doing so. I had a 2nd, worse experience with this card. A few years back I spent about $350 in one single purchase at Target. $120 of that amount was for a Hoover pet vacuum. Got home that night, began vacuuming the carpet and the thing made a funky noise and shut off. The carpet wasn't even dirty I was vacuuming up a few pieces of litter. From that time forward it would overheat after about 5-10 minutes of use. Again, I am taking responsibility, I did not get right back in the car and return it, should have. The fact was it worked if you vacuumed fast. I had a newborn, a job, I just didn't get around to taking it back. I admit I hate returning large items, and I thought maybe I could fix it. When I did get around to returning it I couldn't find my receipt. Then I remembered, I purchased it on the Target RedCard. Yay! They would be able to see the date of purchase. Called customer support. No help, they don't itemize purchases. Though they could see I spent $350.00 they couldn't see the individual purchase of the vacuum. And they also added, that purchase was 92 days ago... I could go to the local store and see if they would allow me to exchange it but that was it. I went into the store just to talk to them, didn't bring the vacuum because I had a bad feeling after talking to their customer support. The store wasn't even able to find the purchase of $350 on my card... they took my card in the back for about ten minutes. I could log in online, I told them, and they could view that I did make the purchase just over 90 days ago. Nope. And that was that, I'm not a [censored], I didn't yell and scream and argue... I just thought that they were better than that. I also got hit with one of their late fees at one point with the card. And yes, I did call and ask could they knock that fee out, it was the first time I'd ever missed a payment. Nope... there went most of my 5% savings. So all in all, yea, I agree with you, there's dirty tactics going on that make this card a scam.

  • It's not a scam... You screwed up and now you're angry at the company?! That makes no sense! Take responsibility for your own actions - it's a part of growing up.

Regardless, if this is the first time this happens, just call their customer service number on the back of the card and ask a rep about the possibility of reducing the interest rate or removing the charges. They usually work with you to help you out - or they may say that if you make timely payments for the next 3-6 months they will reduce your rate or give you a credit at that point.

It's not the end of the world... You'll be alright, but remember who caused this error - you. Not Target.
