Taco Bell review: Cashier took it upon herself to round up my total without asking

First of all, the drinks and food were not bad. That is NOT the issue. The issue is the fact that the cashier took it upon herself to ROUND UP when nobody asked me permission to do so. It was very SNEAKY, not to mention dishonest and TOTALLY disrespectful! My daughter and I went to the Taco Bell at 7126 FM 1960 Rd. E, Humble, TX 77346 on August 5, 2026, at approximately 3:13 pm and ordered food and drinks that TOTALLED $11.22 according to the drive-thru screen. When I got to the window, I handed the cashier the exact change of $11.22. She proceeded to tell me that I owed more money (0.78). I looked puzzled and told her that screen indicated $11.22. She insisted that more was due, so rather than sitting there for another 20-30 minutes, I handed her another dollar bill. We took our food & drink and headed home. When I arrived home, I found the receipt in the bag and that is when I discovered that she ROUNDED UP to $12.00 ($0.78 more) in lieu of the $11.22 CLEARLY SHOWN ON THE DRIVE-THRU SCREEN! I was livid! This is when I discovered that the cashier took it upon herself to ROUND UP without even asking me permission. I understand that the "ROUND UP money" is supposedly for the Taco Bell Charity; however, giving to charity should be voluntary, not mandatory! I, ALONE, decide where my money goes! I found this to be RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL, INAPPROPRIATE, & DISHONEST!
I filled out a comment/complaint form (after I found it) at Taco Bell website and had to give particulars such as home address, email, and phone number on August 5. Taco Bell Corporate (1-800-822-6235) called me back on the morning of August 6, 2026, and left no voicemail message. They did not bother to contact me by email (which is my choice of communication if they would have bothered to ask on the form they would had known, but they did not). Taco Bell attempted to contact me one time and did not even care to contact me via email. Not everybody has their phone attached on themselves 24-7. Some of us actually do work where a personal phone and personal calls are not allowed during business/work hours. Taco Bell appears to be very arrogant, so now, at least, I understand why the cashier had such an arrogant smirk on her face when she insisted on the additional funds. Calling me one time in response to my complaint and not bothering to leave me a message in my email as follow up is basically a "SCR*W YOU" to me from Taco Bell. I will NOT be giving Taco Bell any more of my business at this Humble, Texas location OR any location. I can see that Taco Bell has no scruples, no scruples whatsoever. I also will be sure that neither my family nor I purchase Taco Bell brands at the grocery store. There are other places who serve good food and know how to treat people. If Taco Bell Corporate really cared, they would talk to this particular Humble store manager and to the employees in regard to this and the ill-will that this type of disrespect and dishonestly causes. Taco Bell would also not think that ONE (1) VERY LAME attempt to contact a customer would fix the problem. Yeah, but WHATEVER! I AM DONE!
