My two year old refrigerator began making loud grinding noises when the motor came on. I called the protection plan service to have them look at it and was told my plan would not cover the cost of parts or labor because the refrigerator was still running.
Wouldn't it make more sense to replace a malfunctioning part now instead of waiting for the entire appliance to stop working? That would involve reimbursment of cost of food as well as the labor and parts.
The repairman knew which part it was. It was inside the refrigerator. Not in the back. The air flow mechanism. So I have to assume that appliances cannot be repaired under this plan even if the repairman tells them a particular part is not working correctly. I paid $170.00 for this extended plan and today I was told it would cost $350.00 for me to have it repaired. What kind of protection is that? I guess if my car brakes were grinding when I applied the brake pedal my mechanic should not fix them until the car no longer stops when the pedal is applied. I will lose the food in my freezer and frig if I have no cooling. I am afraid to go on vacation now and leave my refrigerator possibly not working and return home to rotten food.
