Lowe's - Central indianapolis store 6002 n rural

I am a soon-to-be-former customer of lowe's unless I am satisfied that this has been properly handled! Your employee took my wallet home — overnight! He stuck it in is pocket, forgot it and then refused to bring it back with the store called him. I had to wait until the next morning to get my wallet back from your employee.

A customer was kind enough to turn in my dropped wallet on 5/6/2020 around 5-5:30pm. Unfortunately, they turned it into josh alford, asst store mgr, who actually had enough concern to show it to a co-worker (luke) to ensure that he had a witness that e took possession of a lost wallet. But then he stuffed it in his pocket and took it home at the end of his shift. He did not turn it into customer svc. As is the appropriate procedure.

Meanwhile, i've called customer service - who quickly dismissed any wallet being turned in. I drove to the store to check for myself; again I was sent to customer service and the 3 women there only looked at each other and said no wallet was turned in. They did not even look in the drawer/tote. They didn't check with any asst mgrs. They didn't take down my name or number. I went back to the area I had shopped earlier and asked if any of the guys who collect carts might have found it and michelle reached out to them. Luke responded affirmatively and he even remembered my first name from seeing the id that josh alford showed him. Luke said it was at customer service; no it wasn't.

Both luke and (after michelle called him) asst mgr jim contacted josh alford who then realized that he still had my wallet in his pocket. But he refused to drive back to the store to return it!

I still needed to pick up some anti-biotics after a medical procedure earlier that day (I was wearing a post-surgery boot when shopping at your store). But I couldn't because your employee had my cash, my credit cards, my insurance card and my i.D.!

I want josh alford to be disciplined, suspended a short while without pay (will remind him to take found items to customer service next time it happens), and for the store mgr to create more robust protocols for handling customer's possessions! I will not return as a customer until I know these corrective steps have been completed.

Jim gave one reason why josh wouldn't drive back, but josh gave me a completely different reason the next morning. He apologized, said it was an honest mistake, but seemed to think that it was "all's well that ends well." he admitted that he went through my wallet to try to get some of my information. So he had my address, i.D., credit card numbers — for 12 hours! Lowe's should pay for credit monitoring for me for 12 months!

The mistake was really losing the wallet to begin with. I can appreciate how stressful that may have been, but trying to shift blame to this assistant store manager is no way to handle the situation. Having it on him may have been a lot more secure than that of a general lost and found area. Maybe an act of thanks would go a lot further than that of a complaint.
