I work at KFC store #53. I called in Saturday 3 hours before my shift started and told the on duty manager I couldn't come into work Saturday and Sunday because I didn't have a babysitter. And the reason I didn't have a babysitter was because my family was out of town. She called the "GM" to let her know. Then she called me back and said the"GM" said that wasn't a good enough reason to not come to work and I had to come in to start my shift or I was fired. So in so many words she suggested or said I have to leave my under age child home alone for 6 and half hours home unattended. Mind you my child is under the age of 10 years old. I'm a Single Mother thats trying to make a living like the next person and a better life for my child. I've been working for the company for 3 years.

Pretty foolish leaving your name online isn't it. I think you forgot to mention other things, such as.

1. This is not the first time you called on short notice saying you cannot come in to work. You have several times called in sick, said you had to go to a funeral, said you did not have anyone to babysit because your relatives were out of town.

2. You often took extra breaks because you had to be one phone with your babysitter to make sure your daughter was okay.

3. When on break several people complained that you were using profanity when talking to your ex.

These things you forgot to mention did you?

You also forgot to mention, that there were several times you did not call, you just did not show up. Also in addition to taking extra breaks you also took long breaks and kept using the excuse I want to check up on my daughter. Basically you are using your single parenthood as a way for them to pity you and let you get away with this behavior.

Brenda she usually called at last minute, if she called at all, and this practice happened once from twice a week, to once every two weeks on average per month.

Also gkenigmatic, though I believe it is up to the parent of what age they can leave the child in the house alone just be careful, in some states leaving a child under 12 home alone is considered child abandonment. The government sometimes interferes too much with how we raise our kids. Than again it could be the set rules because of dead beat parents.

Oh, as for the question why does she not leave the child with the father. She would rather lose her job than give the father more time with the child than what the court ordered. She simply could have left the child with the father but is too stubborn. I have seen them fight several times about why she should not leave the child with the father and her reply is it is not your time with the children. She uses profanity loudly and we all have to hear it. People have complained about this but she still continues to use profanity when talking to her ex. BTW for those asking her child is 8.

Donna... this entire complaint screams of revenge and self-pity. You actually thought that everyone would look to you as the victim? Get real girlfriend... Even before reading the comments, it was painfully obvious that you are the type that does this quite often. I have 3 kids of my own and I have NEVER been without a babysitter because I arranged it far enough in advance. Did your family up and leave town at the last minute? Don't think so, yet you waited to give your employer only 3 hours notice. Unacceptable in my opinion. This is obviously not the first incident...

You seem like a piece of work through and through... The dad can't watch the child because it's not his time? You really need to grow up, stop acting like the victim and take responsibility for your actions. Just because you no longer love the dad doesn't mean your child shouldn't. You would seriously rather lose your job than to let him help you? You are pathetic! I assume that the only reason you're not on welfare is because you've already exhausted your case and they've denied you!
