Very poor 🤒
We don't know much about how Dollar Tree handles customer complaints outside ComplaintsBoard, but what we see here, on our website, is quite disappointing. We think there might be reasons for the company's actions (like not knowing about the complaints), and we would be happy to see them among customer-focused businesses that easily solve customer problems. But until that happens, we ask reviewers to be cautious when dealing with Dollar Tree and using their services, and to carefully read the experiences of other customers on ComplaintsBoard, because who is warned is armed, you know! 💪

Dollar Tree compliant

There is an employee that has german shepard working along side of her while on duty. If its a service animal how do you know she has the proper certificates. Per virginia law specifically states that providing companionship, emotional support, well-being, or comfort does not qualify as performing work or tasks for a person with a disability... Under the ada and virginia law, owners of public accommodations are not required to allow emotional support animals, only service animals... How about customers that are allergic, afraid, etc to dog or animals... What happens then?

Dollar Tree short changed.

My name is Larry Camp, I live at 885 Elrod Street, Apt. 601, Cleveland, TN 37311. My phone is [protected]. On January 20, 2020 at 14:17 I made a purchase at the store address above, in the amount of $2.20 (tax included) with a $20 bill, and the cashier gave me back $7.80 because he said I gave him a $10 bill! I know for a fact it was a 20...because all I had in my wallet was a 20 and a 10, and I had just got the 20 from Walmart the day before from a purchase there, and have a receipt for that! The cashier called his manager who weighed and counted all that was in the drawer, and still claimed I gave them a $10 bill. I had waited in the line holding the 20 bill in my hand, and plain as day he looked at it when I handed it to him, so the cashier must be either blind or an outright criminal! I want the rest of my change due me, which is $10 more! The store phone number is [protected].

Dollar Tree cashier / policy / restroom

1. Cashier was incredibly rude. When I first entered the store I could hear her loudly complaining to another customer that as far as she was concerned "the customers are going to get just what they ask for and I don't care". Another customer in the same aisle said - there is a girl who needs to find a new job. When I went to check out I was unfortunately in her line. This cashier "Breeze" was trying to open the register but was having a lot of trouble which delayed her opening the register even longer. Breeze in a very rude tone was telling her first customer that she is "sick and tired of saying howdy and not getting a word back". The guy was trying to appologize but she just kept going. The guy looked at me an rolled his eyes and shook his head when he left. When I got to the check out, she walked off to another register where a woman with long strawberry blondish hair was holding a child, collected the child and carried him over. I made sure I acknowleged her "howdy". As she began to check out my items the child she was holding (a toddler) was fidgeting... she would hand the child each item after she rang it up and say 'put it in the bag'. I told her to just push the items down and I would bag them. (I do this often at Dillons when the cashiers are busy) but that was a mistake! Breeze started her rant on how she feels sorry for people with no patiences and how life with patience must be tough. She mentioned that "you'd think people would get patience as they get older" - (Im 62). Just before checking out was completed the girl who originally had the child came over and got him and said "I will take him until you are done with her" which I took personally as there were several people in line after me and she had emphasized the word "her". When Breeze was done checking me out she stuck the receipt out and loudly announced 'Goodbye". I am pleased to say the following day I went to the Dollar Tree on 2600 SE California and the employees were very friendly, polite, and unconfrontational.
2. I believe there is a management problem at this store as this girl is allowed to openly treat customers this way and I question the policy of allowing cashiers to hold children while on duty. A woman I believed may have been the manager (heavy set girl with dark hair and glasses) opened the office door briefly and saw Breeze checking out holding a child so it is obviously condoned.
3.in all the times I have been at this store I have never had to use the restroom and had no idea where it was... I got directions, the first door had signs posted on it (all in poor condition) out of order. The next door was partially open so I opened - the restroom was in poor condition and was filthy beyond belief. It was so bad I wish I would have taken a picture. I could not get within feet of the stool so I backed out. My husband entered the store said he needed to go (we had just left from having lunch at Ihop) before we headed back to Ozawkie. I told him the restroom was not fit to use and that we would stop at a gas station... he advised an employee. A public restroom in most places is scheduled to be checked hourly.
The following day I had occasion to shop at Dollar Tree so I went to the store on 2600 SE California. The store is not as large or as well stocked but the employees are polite and friendly and in no way could be described as confrontational. Please note that"Breeze" left negative impressions on three customers while I was there and I am probably the only who will complain; with one out of three persons making a complaint, how many of your customers did she manage to drive away or insult in the course of one day.
I don't know if this will help but my authorization/trace number for Breeze's transaction is 642328/033324 and cudos to the girl at California Ave store - her number was 038842/019248.
Thank you,
Sharon Blankenship

I also told the lady that I would slap her across the face if she did not let me have the boxes for free. I served my country. She then told me to leave and threatened to report me to the police if I did not. What a coward. I served my country and she cannot even give me the boxes for free. So what if I take things without asking. I served the country and I am better than you and anyone else that posts here. Well I was kicked out of the military for getting drunk and fighting with one of my people. I told him that i hope we go to war and that I hope he is killed on duty.

Dollar Tree store in general

The Dollar Tree located in Jacksonville Arkansas is the most trashed-up Dollar Tree Store that I have ever shopped in. I live in Jacksonville and I have shopped in other stores across the country and have never encountered such a mess in my life. The shopping carts are not usable and the merchandise is scattered all over the store. The merchandising and upkeep of this store is terrible. The old shopping carts at this store are not usable.

My wife and I have shopped at this store since it was opened and we have enjoyed shopping there . The store has deterioated over the past year and is getting worse all the time.

I hope to see improvements soon.

Thanks,

Dollar Tree manager

I was standing inline behind a young lady who was using coupons for her purchases. One of her coupons did not go through the cashier looked over to the manager who was on the other register for assistance, the manager then told her unless she wanted to cancel and re-ring and re-enter all the coupons you should just skipp that coupon and went on to say "thats why we hate coupons". Being that the manager is saying this says alot about your store and employees training! The customer service should always be examplar. This is a good way to stop getting good bussiness and it will eventually affect your bottom line. Lack of bussiness took out family dollar due to poor customer service this can happen to this store as well. If your employees are not willing to handle coupons with a smile and gratitude for the bussiness then you should stop accepting coupons all together for your sake as well as the coustomers. Keep in mind the coustomer is the one who keeps your bussiness going without the coustomer the store will go under. I pray you can restructure your employee training and treatment of those who are willing to spend their hard earned dollars in your establishment.
Thank you
Carolyn morales

Dollar Tree store well lit with employees closing well before the stated hours on store... also stated on website

I took an uber and was at the store at 804 pm while it was well lit I saw two employees 1 male and 1 female and were clearly uninterested to acknowledge me at the main entrance the employee made a a hand signal waving as they were closed early and were just getting their stuff together to leave.. I wasted my cab fee to shop at your store as I needed to get groceries on a dollar type budget... I have my receipt from uber to prove my trip to your store as we can compare notes with your time stamp on your cctv camera footage of myself at a time before your closing time.. I am on a budget as many of your customers are and do not appreciate to take an uber to your store within the stated hours of business on your website as well as on your store front entrance which clearly stated closes at 9 pm.. And wad turned away at approximately @ 804pm.. I will no longer go to your kearny mesa location until I see those two employees are replaced with hardworking people that simply just do their jobs.. It seems you have a human resources issue im at this location... I am just very upset that I wasted my money to go grocery shopping at your store and was turned away by lazy employees

Dollar Tree store manager

Hi, I shopped at the East side Dollar tree here in Casper Wyoming and I saw the store manager physically hit an employee and was reprimanding them in front of customers. I believe her name is Wendy. I went through the employee's line (they were a cashier) and the employee seemed fine but I knew they felt insecure by the look on their face. I also wanted to complain about the fact that every time I come in there I see nothing on the shelves and it looks like there is hardly anyone there stocking things.

Dollar Tree manager

I was at the Dollar Tree Jan 2, 2019. I was in the line and the manager just closes her drawer and walks out the door. I saw the other cashier ask her where she was headed and she just kept on going. I then overheard the cashier say she was alone in the building. I was shocked at the way the manager just left us in line like that and how she left her staff alone, completely alone. I like coming to this store but the managers need to shape up...very unprofessional and I am quite sure against company policy at the least to walk out of the door. I used to be a manager before I retired from that career and I know that is not how you run a business. Something needs to change. Thank you.

Dollar Tree suspended without warning

I've been working for Dollar Tree since mid-March of 2019. I was hired as an assistant store manager (ASM), and even though it was my first management job, I tried my absolute best. Roughly three months prior to this incident, our district manager transferred to a new district, and another DM was brought in. The new DM was set on helping me get promoted to a full-time position as either a freight or operations manager, and I was encouraged to apply at several other locations that needed said positions filled.

On December 18th 2018, I arrived at work (as I have every day for more than nine months). About an hour before I was supposed to leave, the store manager called me into the office and informed me that HR was suspending me because I had "too many write-ups", many of which were MONTHS old, spanning back to when I first started. For some reason unbeknownst to me, corporate was digging up these old write-ups and "investigating" whether I was eligible to be promoted.

I was asked to clock out, and I complied. I went into the bathroom (because I needed to "go"), and then the store manager sent me a text prompting me to turn in my store keys. I notified him that I was in the bathroom and that i would bring the keys up to him when I was finished. He then sent one of my employees into the area where the bathrooms are located, and then he sent me another text moments later to the tune of "X didn't see you in the back room. I need you up here right now". Again, I complied, turning in my store keys. I was told that I would be suspended for three days (obviously without pay), or "Until HR finishes their review".

As I'm writing this, it's January 3rd 2020.
I have been suspended for more than two weeks without pay, save the whopping $148 that I received from my last few working days.

I've served Dollar Tree loyally since the get-go and have done nothing but sing their praises. I signed paperwork to take a loan out for a new car, and since the day I began driving it, I've been running to the bank for change and traveling as far as Natick Massachusetts to cover stores that needed help (I live in Worcester, so it's roughly a 50-mile round trip). I've been aiming for a promotion since August, and every time I've applied for a position after expressing interest to my boss (a man who encouraged me to apply), the positions were mysteriously filled shortly thereafter. I have come in early and stayed late. I've worked open to close (about a 15 hour work day). I've worked every holiday. I've worked on my days off. I've offered to come in to work at the drop of a hat because the company that allegedly cares about their employees needed help.

All that I've received in return is a biweekly paycheck of a less than livable amount and a "three day suspension" that has lasted more than two weeks.

Words cannot even begin to describe how frustrated I am with this company. The best part? I can't file for unemployment because I'm technically still an employee. So here I am, out of a job shortly after Christmas, with bills piling up to the ceiling. And for what? Showing ambition at work.

Dollar Tree service

I went into this store st 6:50 pm this evening. I Purchased five items. There were two women and one man and a little girl at door fussing about customers having no respect. I did not know what they meant until i stood in line to check out. At this point the door was locked and all four of them were letting customers out. There was one cashier for the line of customers though. The group at the door and the cashier were loudly and rudely complaining of us paying customers as we paid and as we left out if store. There were no signs displayed showing the customers the store closed at 7:00 pm! There were two signs on the door of hours for New Years Day but no notice for Dec 31. This was the most unbelievable display of unprofessional behavior and appreciation i have ever witnessed. Great job of displaying poor customer service in the most disrespectful ignorant manner! The man said very little but the cashier, the large and loud woman and the woman with a blond wig did an academy award winning performance that no retailer would want to witness! It was bad!

Dollar Tree discrimination against an employee

I worked part time at this store for several weeks. During this time I had a problem with my foot and I couldn't walk fast. (I later had to have a stint put in my leg). One night right before closing, the manager (Tina I think) told me to clean the bathroom, which I did, but caught me as I was returning to the register and told me that I wasn't walking fast enough and something would have to be done about it. I have to preface this by saying that this store HATES the elderly and especially employees. By elderly I mean 69 years old. They shouldn't have hired me if they thought I was too old. There were always complaints about the manager and cashiers being rude. I did everything they asked me to do but it was quite obvious that they wanted me out of there. I know this will probably go no further than you reading this, but it is not too late for me to go the EEOC.
Thanks,
Joan Layton

Dollar Tree manager

The Hispanic manager at Carthage missouri is very rood and hateful. when you have a problem she tells you it's not her problem and leave. We buy the Kansas City paper for coupons and have always been able to check and make sure they are in paper since they get left out some times today she would not let us make sure paper was complete two I bought had coupons missing and she said that's our fault and we can't change papers! The only reason they have a line at door waiting to open is for the coupons and not the whole paper. Everyone is tired of her rudeness and unwilling to help out. Half the time she comes in late and seems drunk or high. She is the worst example of customer service.
