I've been putting up with crappy signal for many years.

Last year, I had technichians come to my house and determine that there was a problem with their outside plant. They said they created a work order to fix the problem, starting at the pedestal in my yard.
They put a nice big orange cone next to the pedestal, had the electric cable detectors come out to flag the location of their equipment, and that was it.
I had the technician replace the set-top box (STB) and that worked for a while.
He never did file that old box back into their system because now I had two boxes on my account.

It got to the point that after the STB daily reset, I would usually have to unplug the box and reconnect it so that it would function properly again.

Recently, I finally got past the tit-less operators on the phone (you know, the ones that send you a reboot signal and hang up on you), and I got a live scam operator who conned me into bumping up my internet to 1.2G and I would get Peacock free for two years, AND she would send me a replacement STB that I could install myself...I thought things were looking up.

The replacement STB was not a replacement, it was an additional for my network. It needed to be added with the old STB still attached.

I tried to activate it that day, I tried to activate it the next day with an ignorant tech in a chat on my phone. He couldn't figure it out so he told me to take that new box to the store and get a different one.

I tried that. I couldn't activate it, 5 more idiots tried to activate through a chat and finally had to schedule another tech to come to my house.

As we were watching TV that night, the TV system died again. Resetting the new STB didn't work.

The new tech told me that this tiny "replacement" STB couldn't be activated until the old STB is deactivated and removed and I wouldn't be able to do it by myself.

I had to leave for another appointment but he made sure to remind me to rate him a 10 on the survey that would be texted to me.

When I got back to my house, I did some research of my situation. The new STB was an addition and did not have DVR capabilities. I still wasn't getting 1.2G speeds on my network (lucky to get up to 100M) and my future bills would be jacked up $100+/ month. AND some jackhole threw a $100 'Professional Installment' fee in there along with a $15 fee for delivering [censored] I couldn't use.
The next day, I took the new box, the old box and my router to the store. I replace the old STB and the router and returned the new STB.

I brought my replacements home and got everything activated.

(Oh, we're not finished yet!)...

The tech showed up and of course everything was perfect (to include 1.2G standards!) As soon as he left, the internet speed dropped back to 100M.

I finally got through to a person on the phone and had the $100 installation fee removed, the $15 shipping fee removed had the 1.2G and Peacock removed.

We watched TV yesterday with only a few freeze-ups.
There is a tech scheduled for this afternoon.

This morning after the daily self reboot, the system won't take me to the guide.
The screen turns dark for a few minutes and the back to the channel it was on.

Recommendation: BEWARE
