we received a letter Saturday that our checking account with BOA was going to be put on restriction in 21 days and closed in 30 and that it was a business decision. We have been banking with BOA for over 10 years and have the worldpoints card and all of our mortgages with them. We pay off our card each month because we use it for everything to accumulate points and use our points for gifts and vacation travel. That same saturday morning with no advance warning our credit card was declined and when we called they stated it was closed due to inactivity. which is totally false because as I said we use it for everything and had just used it the night before. Our credit score is well above 700. We have called and gone into local branches and no one can help us other than directing us to call the account closures department. That department is simply a recording stating they r busy with other customers and stresses twice at the beginning and at the end that it is the BOA is not required to explain the reason for the closure. So basically they say leave your name and number and we will call you within 24 to 48 hours but it is their policy and they are not required to tell us anything. We are also unable to access our funds locally. To make matters worse we have over 500, 000 worldpoints that we were saving for vacation and I cannot even access my worldpoints account because the card was closed and was told when I called that the points are usually forfieted when accounts are closed! We received a call from the account closures dept and they said they do not have to nor will they tell us why the accounts were closed and that our points are forfeited as per the credit card agreement and that there is nothing we can do! That is crazy! we earned those points!

Thats exactly true...we finally figured out why they gave us 30 days before closing our checking and immediately closed our credit card... so we couldn't redeem our points... the person we spoke to from account closures today all but insinuated that and said there was nothing we could do and that he did not have to tell us anything... I need to find more people that this has happened to and spread the word on facebook to watch out. We lost over 500, 000 points that we were saving for summer vacation for my daughter's high school graduation trip. I will definately look into getting help investigating it...thanks for your comment. Help me spread the word.

Same thing happened to me and my wife. They closed our credit card accounts without any notice/reason. BofA is just a fake bank and they will do anything they want without respecting customers. Stay away from this bank.

I can't help you, but write or call the Consumer Fraud Protection Board (CFPB). This is just the type of thing they were designed to deal with for consumers and you may end up being part of a consumer settlement.

Same thing just happened to me I wanted to use my card and it declined when I called they told me my account has been closed for no reason and they gave me the number for the account closer. I had over 160, 000 points which they told me i lost. I have been with BOA for over 10 years and they do this out of no where. I always pay my balance off so they are defiantly not making money of off me and I think this is why they did that. I can care less about being with them and i am closing the rest of my account s and my whole family is moving their accounts to another bank institute. The only thing that is pissing me of is how i forfeit points which i earned and was saving. I really would like to report them for their fraud to a news agency or at least spread the word about their business practices. First they want to charge $5 for debt card fee and then when that didn't work they probably do this to their loyal customers in order to keep their profits high.
