Alamo Rent A Car review: Pre-existing damage

I rented a Nissan Sentra in Myrtle Beach on 10/17/2025. Something told me when the young lady at the counter basically just gave me the keys, without a walk around inspection, to look around the car. I discovered damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle, (blue paint and scrapes), and to the rear bumper. I took pictures and went back inside to let the lady know. She was dismissive and said, "ok you took pictures, good". Another gentleman followed me outside to the vehicle to have another guy, "Ryan" document the damage. I have pictures of the guy documenting and the damage. When I forwarded the information they told me I was still responsible for the damage! Over $1900. I am not sure what to do and who to speak to, but I am sick of getting transferred to multiple people with no results.
