When the ADT representative came to my house to sell me the security package, I was told that since I'm a military service veteran, that I would not have to pay an installation charge. That was a bold faced LIE. Once the tech had installed all hardware and he and I were going over what I owed, I saw a section that charges me hundreds of dollars for the installation. I told him that he was mistaken and that I was told by the salesman that as a veteran, I would not be charged for the installation. He told me he would be glad to uninstall everything that he had installed (it took him almost 3 hours to install everything) but that I would be charged for it and it would cost me several hundred dollars. How I WISH I'd have just gone on and eaten those several hundred dollars instead of waiving the offer to uninstall.
After about two weeks of having the system in my home, I started having problems with multiple false alarms. The tech came back over to my home on four separate occasions (within a 2 month period of time) to 'fix' these. Twice (on two separate occasions) he had to move the alarm because he felt that one was too close to my guest bathroom and that maybe the steam from my shower was 'tripping' the alarm. I told him that I hadn't used my shower since earlier that morning (it was early afternoon when he told me this) and that I was almost positive that it was NOT the shower steam that had triggered the false alarm.
Another time, I was almost an hour away and I was at work. I got a call from ADT that one of my alarms had registered as triggered and they asked me if I was alright. I told them that I was not at home and that I was almost an hour away. They asked if they should call the police department and have them send a unit to my address. Since I had had so many false alarms, I told them no and that I would take an early lunch and go back home to investigate. Sure enough, it was a FALSE ALARM and that's when I called ADT back and told them that I was HIGHLY upset at the shoddiness of their products/services and that I demanded that they do something to SERIOUSLY fix these false alarms that were plaquing me.
I have never been so dissatisfied with a company in all my 59 years.
Recommendation: Do yourself a favor and do NOT let an ADT salesman on your property. They will LIE to you and tell you ANYTHING to make a sale.
