Less than 2 months after I started using my new tracfone, I got a message on the startup screen that my phone was corrupt and wouldn't work correctly in all functions (I was able to get it to work for most phone calls and texting). Tracfone customer service said it was likely a hardware issue, and would exchange the phone for me. That's exactly what I wanted, so I thought it was all good. However, they said I had to return the phone first, and then after they received it they would mail me a replacement phone, which would take 5-10 days. It's not realistic to expect a person to go without a phone for 5-10 days. They said that was their return process. They wouldn't send a replacement phone, so I could then mail the defective phone afterwards. I asked what if I buy a new phone, and then return the corrupt phone, could I get a refund? No. I then asked what if I bought a new phone, did their exchange process, and then returned the phone I bought. They said after it's been activated, they won't accept returns. There needs to be some other option besides the customer going without a phone for 5-10 days.
Desired outcome: Send a replacement phone so the customer has a phone to use before they mail the defective phone for the exchange.
