I am writing this review to formally express my dissatisfaction with a recent experience at the Shoppers Drug Mart located on Simcoe Street in Oshawa.
I have been a loyal customer of this location since moving to Oshawa in 2017 and have consistently supported this store. Unfortunately, this visit resulted in the most unacceptable customer service experience I have encountered, specifically involving an acting manager.
During my visit, I selected my items and completed a purchase totaling over $500, including multiple body washes, creams, body sprays, gels, and other personal care products, as well as two bags of chips. At checkout, I was informed that paper bags were restricted to cosmetic items only. I did not request a cloth bag, as I do not use them and it would have gone to waste.
After my transaction was completed, only the chips were placed in a bag. When I asked how I was expected to carry the remainder of my purchase, given the volume of items, the acting manager responded, “I don’t know.” I explained that my pockets were not large enough to carry everything, yet no effort was made to assist me or provide a reasonable solution.
This interaction demonstrated a clear lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic customer service. Regardless of store policy, a manager should be capable of offering alternatives or handling concerns respectfully. The dismissive response I received was unacceptable, particularly from someone in a leadership role.
As a long-standing customer, this experience left me feeling disrespected and undervalued. I expect higher standards from Shoppers Drug Mart and hope this feedback results in immediate attention to customer service training and management conduct at this location.
