unethical charge to client
On Oct.5/17 I purchased some items at Shoppers Drug Mart, Westgate location in Saskatoon, SK. I brought my own bag to bag the items. I noticed on the cash machine screen that I was being charged $0.05 for a plastic bag. When I advised the clerk what I had seen she advised that the money goes to their charity. I was shocked to here this & wasn't given a bag by the Shoppers employee either. I advised that I found this unethical as I wasn't given a choice to "donate", rather Shoppers just takes the money because I brought my own bag. I shared that the Co-op store in Saskatoon actually refunds clients $0.02 for bringing in their own bag.
I find that Shoppers in engaging in unethical behaviour by stealing money from their clients on a daily basis. There is no accountability to the public on how they manage this money or how much or to which charities these unauthorized charges are dispersed too.

In addition, clients aren't given a choice to refuse "it's just the way they do business". This is nothing short of theft from clients. I will no longer shop at this store unless there is a change to this unethical policy.
store location - winnipeg garden city
On September 29th at a little after 10 pm I stopped at Shopper's Drug Mart- Garden City location at the corner of Leila and McPhillips in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
I stopped to pick up a few items and as soon as I walked in a noticed a man who was looking at the magazine racks awkwardly. I pegged him as a store walker and continued on my way. I went down the first aisle and picked up one item and went to another aisle. In this aisle I returned a text but was looking for a cosmetic bag (as I was going on a trip the next day). I noticed him and by a shelf with vitamins but did not think anything yet. During this time I held my items a bit of a distance from me so that he can see (this is something that happens to often in the city of Winnipeg with floorwalkers).
As I made my way across the store I noticed he followed me and he stopped in one specific aisle where I was standing. At this time I was picking up a snack pack for my son, who was waiting in the car as he just came from basketball.
I addressed him and asked him are you a floorwalker because you have been following me since I came in here. He said he was security and I asked him why he was following me, he said it was his job. I pointed out that there were other people in there store and asked why he was not following them. He said he was just doing his job. I pointed out that out of the customers who were in the store I was the only one who was First Nations. I asked him what his reason for following me was, he said it was his job. I told him what he was doing was racial profiling me and if it was his job he would be following everyone else and not just me. I told him I did not appreciate it because I am a paying customer, he said it was his job. I told him I could not believe it and that I plan to complain, he told me I could. I started to walked towards the cash register and he started to follow me, I asked him what he was doing and told him that I am clearly going to pay and that he can stop following me, he said it was his job.
At this time, I went to the front and was upset but kept my calm. There were two young Shopper's workers there standing at the front. I know I could have left but I was tired and this was my last stop, I placed my items on the counter and went to go get one item and then paid for my items.
The cashier was very nice and handed me a business card to put a complaint in as I told her I was very upset with how I was treated.
When I returned to my car, I cried because being followed based on skin colour or what ethnicity you look happens too often. I am a professional (who was wearing casual clothes at that moment) and someone who does not steal.
This man clearly made me extremely uncomfortable and was borderline aggressive in his approach. (He was wearing plain clothes, an orange cultural attire on his head and about 5-8 in height).
There have been other instances where other people from the First Nations community have complained that this has happened to them at Shopper's Drug Mart as well, despite being paying customers who do not steal.
As a solution, the guidelines on security protocol should be looked into as well as information on what racial profiling is. I understand that stealing does occur but not every First Nation person steals. Thank you for reading this.
pharmacy
My son picked up a prescription from the location I have been using for 25 yrs. My benefits did not cover it, the cost was about $125. He didn't question the cost because my meds have had prices attached as well as the meds for him, his two siblings and Father that we get there. I called the pharmacy and spoke to the pharmacist explaining how I didn't want the med because I can't afford it on my income. He told me I could come in for a refund but to come in during the week because he didn't know how to do refunds. When I spoke to three other pharmacists and finally Kevin, after three weeks of trying, he tells me that a policy restricts returns once a med has left the store. While I appreciate the reasoning behind this policy, I feel that the refund should be honoured, as the pharmacist on duty told me it would.
I am very upset about this because I have been a good customer in standing for 25 years as well as my whole family. The dispensing fee is the highest in Toronto but I have continued with Shoppers because of the history and service I have received. I have known most of these people, including the owner before the current one.
I would like a response as to why this pharmacy is not honouring what thier employee advised me to do with regards to the refund. While I appreciate that he may have been mistaken in policy knowledge, that should Not effect the customer.
pharmacy service
This would be my second complaint about this shoppers located in Thunder Bay Ont.
I believe it's located the corner of Oliver and memorial ave.
This complaint a little more serious were as a dr. Has called a few times with different medication to be covered (cancer related) and she has been charged with version code (Dr.) actually called and set it up
(2) My mother has been on medication for over 40 years a few changes here and there but it wouldn't be in her blister packs (antibiotics) etc. More common. But the jest of it her pills are the same every month. This one time just past 2 months they held her pills because of renewal witch meant she had to make an apt. You guessed it she had to wait 4 days to see her Dr. Now with no pills she started to bleed out again another call from her Dr. Stating this should of never happened and perscriptions don't run out unless stated and he pointed that out to the pharmacy my mother being so sick lost 3 litres of blood when we had brought her in the damage was done even when she was able to start her pills again
I would like this to be looked into and if any renibursment for some of my mothers medication that should have been covered
Since then we have changed her location and we will never recommend this location
Thank you

service at pharmacy
The pharmacist owner of this Shoppers Drug Mart 228, Kam, did not explain much when it came to the prescription pills, and had an unpleasant attitude as well. I went to pick up my prescription, which the family doctor prescribed the dosage to be at 4mg. Upon picking up my prescription at this SDM location, I was presented with two bottles of pills instead of one. I was told by my family doctor that I would receive one, thus the confusion. I paid for my prescription, and I thought he would give an explanation as to why I received two bottles. Instead, I had to ask for an explanation. If not, I would've never known why. Apparently the company ran out of 4mg pills, and had to give two bottles of 2mg pills instead. The attitude while he presented the information felt like he was expecting me to know this already, which obviously I did not. Every other pharmacy I've been to always provides explanations and instructions upon paying and providing the prescriptions. This may seem like a minor issue, but to me, I felt he was complacent and unprofessional. I just want to bring awareness that complacency exists, and that it should be taken care of so that it does not happen to future clients.
pharmacy protocols
Good day,
I recently called my Pharmacy by refill request that my Specialist would have to authorize (0 repeats). I was told it would be ready for pick-up after 4:30 the following afternoon. Since I had a few extra capsules, I went to pick up the prescription two days later, after I took my last med the evening before.
I was told by the Pharmacist on duty that the Specialist hadn't responded to the fax authorization, so I asked for an (occasional) holdover. I was told that the new Pharmacist/Owner had halted advances, which was legally conforming according to what I was taught as a future Pharmacy Assistant Graduate. The Pharmacist advised me she had the prerogative of overriding the policy for a charge of $15.00. I declined.
Needless to say, I went without one of my bedtime meds that evening.
So what is the point of this letter? Customers should have been given ample notice regarding advances, which could alleviate their 'anxieties' (like I had that day), and better prepare them for reordering their meds earlier.
As a point of note, I expect the new Pharmacist/Owner to have direct Pharmacy calls and/or inquiries picked up within a reasonable time frame by a live staff member according to established OPA guidelines (presently, and I believe a breech of protocols, their automated system notifies the customer that the Pharmacy staff are busy...twice - the third - leave pertinent information and the call will be returned.
As well, the dispensary is frequently out of OTC products (which I, time after time, suggest they add their auto-reorder system).
So, in closing, I wish the new Pharmacist/Owner all the best; however, if she wants to employ some policies which may have a negative impact on the customers, some positives should be provided as well.
Thank you for your time.

worst customer service provided
I just want to share with you how my experience was today at saddle ridge shoppers, calgary, alberta. I came to get photos done for my dad to apply for indian passport. I told jennifer that some places it says 4 pictures and some says 5. She was like no worries we have on our computer and it is the most updated version and she said it will be 4 pictures. Then she is like it will be 2 orders so you have to pay 30$. I was like why because almost 6 months ago I got the same pictures done and a guy working here printed 5-6 pictures for around 14-15$. So then this miss attitude came, harman. She came to me with no hello or no hi, directly she said do you have any questions. Wow! What a customer service. She said if that guy printed pictures for you, you need to talk to him or go some where else. Like seriously, this is how you treat your customers. I have been working in customer service field from last 5 years and I better know how to treat customers even if they are wrong. I think these girls need some more training in customer service. They might be best employees technically but worst in customer service skills. I have seen this harman girl so many times at customer service desk, but I have one question for her, when was the last time she smiled and greeted her customers.
This is not the end, I went to apply for his passport, they are like we need 5 pictures and not 4. Wow I drove back to this shoppers again and now jennifer is like you have to pay for the full set again so I paid another 15.99$ for just one picture I needed but I have to take 2 because of your store policy. I thought this was her responsibility at first to make sure she is providing me with right service. I have to pay again even though it was their fault, even though she checked her checklist for pictures for indian passport. This is straight ripping off customers. I will never recommend my family and friends and I will never get this service done again at this place. I will make sure I share this experience with all the people I know with employee’s names as well and also to share this experience at google reviews.
This email was written to the store manager and all he replied was its our store policy. So thats how managers deal with client complaints. His name was giles fernando.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.
customer service
I just left your 123 Mitton street south, Sarnia On N7T3C5 store. I have never felt like such an inconvenience in any other store before as I did today. Christina the cashier was nothing short of rude and more worried about speaking with another employee about tomorrows schedule . I bought 3 items that were on sale, I told her they did not ring up at the sale price, she rudely replied " they will" and proceeded to ignore me when after the total they in fact did not. She turned her back on me and walked away ...no thank you..no have a nice day..NOTHING. I will never shop or recommend this location again.
Absolutely disgusting customer service!
customer service/cashier
Please check the reviews on Google map for 1597 Wilson Ave, North York, ON M3L 1A5.
You have 1.8 %. Everybody complained about the cashier and customer service. If people are important to you and if your company cares about customer service please start doing something in that location.
Cashiers are rude with lots of attitudes. That has to be fixed.
Thank you
customer service
Please let me start off with the fact that I myself work in and manage the customer service industry. Today was my first and last day visiting your store at 20395 Lougheed Hwy. When I entered, I stood at the counter at cosmetics for over 3 minutes. The cosmetician glanced at me, again with no acknowledgement. A gentleman came over and mentioned I was there. Again, she glanced with no acknowledgement. In my line of work, if you not acknowledge a client within 5 seconds, you get a warning. Several of these, and you lose your job. I was not asking in any way to be helped first. What I was expecting was a polite "I'm just with someone, I'll be over in a few minutes to help you". I stood there longer, and finally did mention the awful customer service, saying it would have been great to at least be acknowledged while I stand there waiting. I went to the front tills and asked to speak to the assistant manager. She was extremely wrong and derogatory. I addressed my concerns and she responded by saying the cosmetician gives great customer service. I'm sure she does in other situations, but this incident does warrant a simple chat w the cosmetician with a reminder to acknowledge. I mentioned I will go to another location, where my business is appreciated. She responded with well maybe you shouldnt shop here as I was leaving. I turned around and asked for her name. She refused the information and walked off mumbling. The sales associate had given me her name and a card to contact ymanagement She was wonderful, and I very much appreciated her help. I can't help but wonder if I was in my normal expensive attire and the sales associates knew how much money I spend at Shopper's Drug Mart, my experience would be different. I have never experienced such disrespect at ANY store, not just Shopper's. I will gladly give you my points card number or you are more than welcome to contact the staff at the locations of David and Coast Meridian and at Sunwood Square on Lougheed regarding how much I do spend. Hundreds at a time. I will never set foot in your location and will share my experience with others to avoid your location as well. UPDATE - I emailed the store with NO response
pharmacy assistant threat
I have recently been threatened by a shoppers drug mart employee who goes by the name Renee Masch, at the store here in kitimat. She had threatened to beat me up 'deal with me' if I didn't stop fingering her. I have fingered her once out side of work because she was staring at me. The threat happened at work and that is why I'm writing in today.
I am also taking her to the rcmp to charge her with uttering threats.
shoppers optimum points
This complaint is regarding:
Receipt number: 9990208481030000246785
Shoppers Optimum Car ending with 408251
I have done shopping yesterday after uploading coupon of 15x if I shop for more than $20. But after shopping I didn't get 15x points. I have attached the receipt for your reference. Kindly upload the points as promised in my optimum card(which is 15x of what I got i.e. 260*15=3900).
I tried to call customer service many times today but its never reachable.
avent powder formula dispenser and snack cup
Hi,
I bought this product (Avent Powder Formula Dispenser and Snack cup) on 17 of July 2017. That was just an extra item that I needed. Apparently, I found it not necessary and I wanted to return it right away, but I left to Europe (the next day and I can even provide airline tickets) and I was not able to return it within 30 days ( as it says on the receipt). When I got back ( 5 of September 2017) I didn't have time to come right away to the store. So I went today and I was declined for refund ( not in a nice way), I also proposed ( since the product is in original packaging an I never used it) to get at least store credit, but it was *No answer * again with no compassion or possible understanding of my situation. The cashier didn't even listened to me. It was just a cold wall.
The address of the store is 333 Mountainview RD.S., Georgetown, L7G 6E8.
It was not a pleasant experience, since I shop there a lot ( including pharmacy). I was not expecting that for the COMPLETELY NEW and untouched item( which cashier didn't even bother to examine or look at) I will not get a refund or Store credit for 9.49 CAD. Unbelievable.
Pictures of receipt and of the item attached.
465 yonge st.
I was just in the Yonge and Carlton store in Toronto was witnessed a despicable incident.
A woman, who probably had a mental illness but none the less was in distress was rudely removed from the store. I neither saw nor heard any kind of commotion previous, she was in no way bothering me and it didn't appear anyone else either.
I get it's private property but I'm certain she was being profiled. The woman was almost in tears, begging to allowed to stay as her mother would shortly be meeting her there. Which makes me believe this was a loitering issue as someone who didn't fit the upscale, clean and sane demographic was found waiting and your gross staff didn't like the sight of her.
Not one, not two but four staff stood at the door laughing and she was physically shoved out the door in tears. Additionally at least two cashiers, CURRENTLY CASHING OUT CUSTOMERS, were laughing at this poor woman. I was so incredibly disgusted by how your staff handled themselves I threw my purchase to the ground in front of some of the vile umempathetic baboons you have working for you and said "you're disgusting, umm not shopping here".
Of course, as a well dressed white male, there was no reaction to my departure. The woman was still outside, confused and distraught speaking to another man I heard her say "I wasn't doing anything", to which he replied "I know, I tried to defend you. Apparently your customers have more compassion for humans than your gross staff do.
hurtful behaviour from a supervisor
The store in Beaumont, Alberta, has one of the rudest management and unexperienced staff. Very disrespectful to the customer, very aggressive behaviour and lack of any customer service skills. They scanned a scratch and win ticket twice, threw the winning receipt in the garbage, and kept the second one saying that the ticket has already paid. We are talking about a five dollar ticket. Its not about the money at all, its about the behaviour and the lack of customer service. They refused to investigate and they were not cooperative, or understanding, at all. After twenty minutes, I got a phone call and they asked us to go back and take the five dollars. They admitted they made a mistake. No apology from anyone.
This is not the way to keep customers happy and satisfied. I request a personal apology from the manager and for somebody to have a serious discussion with employee on her behaviour.
management and loss prevention officers
In April of this year while shopping at the Franklin and Elgin St. Cambridge On. Branch I was wrongly accused of theft. I and my family have been regular customers going 3 or 4 times weekly to shop and for my multitude of prescriptions. They know me by name and have even followed the progress of our infant son with great interest. I am a comical outgoing personality and was always friendly and kind to the staff. The night in question found my spouse and I picking up a number of items. I was totally aware of the lpo trying to act casual thinking he was onto a big bust..why? Because he disliked my appearance and discriminantly profiled me. I had in my hand at the time a 10 dollar box of eyeshadow that my spouse wanted to purchase and I had that in my hand when I told her I was going to get pop for us..I went to the area in question and picked up two six packs of pop..unfortunately when I picked them up it caused the little eyeshadow box to dig painfully into the palm of my hand. I dropped the makeup on the boxes of pop and returned to my spouse. I also had stopped at the pharmacy to obtain a syringe to administer orally some medication for our baby boy. Something the lpo also noticed. We then proceeded to the checkout with our purchases and paid for what we had bought with cash. As we were heading to the exit we were approched by the lpo who asked me if there was anything I had forgotten to pay for. I told him quit dist inctly that no I hadnt. And he asked about the makeup. I was at this point becoming upset and informed him where U had in fact left the item in question.he indicated I had it in my coat pocket and as I walked to where the makeup was I reached into the pocket and pulled out what was in my pocket a keyfob with a car key attached. I then picked up the makeup where I had dropped it and showed it to him..but he was relentless and wouldnt accept the fact that he was in factnin the wrong. He not only put his hands on me but subsequently had me charged with theft under $5000, possession of stolen property under $5000 and assault with intent to resist arrest. And I never laid a finger on the little idiot. Also in his statement of his description of me he claimed I was covered in and I quote 'meth marks' referring I would assume to the extreme excema I have suffered with since childhood and have an ongoing prescription at that location.as I said profiled. So to shorten this up a bit after 4:months of multiple court appearances I was found not guilty on ALL charges. But wait, it gets better. After all the hassle and stress they put me through for something I didn't do, I returned to the same location. First visit was fine..got what I needed and left..second visit I was approached by an employee. .not management and informed in front of customers and other staff that I was to leave the store immediately and they werent going to even ring my purchases through all the while knowing I was innocent. I have never been so embarassed and humiliated in my life as I was this day. I am branded as criminal even though proven to be innocent. I have been degraded and profiled for a second time and have had my good family name slandered. I have now had to change locations which is total crap. I am a disabled person and this is causing me to have to travel twice as far to get what I require. I will not be taking this laying down..they want to besmirch my good name and all I can say is I hope their lawyers are good cause mine sure as hell is gonna be. Watch yourselves at this location they dont like how you look you could like myself pay a heavy price. Trust me theirs will be much heavier.
gift card balance/ rude customer service
I would like to express my great deal of frustration regarding a Petro-Canada gift card I had purchased. On September 12, 2017 at 6:13pm, I had purchased a $50 Petro-Canada gift card as part of my brother’s birthday gift as per the attached receipt. Upon scanning the gift card, I was given an authorization receipt so I had thought the gift card would I thought would be functional, which is also attached. When my brother tried to use it, much to my surprise, it didn’t work. I called Petro-Canada customer service to inquire about this issue and upon investigation, they had informed me that the card was not activated and I needed to go to Shoppers Drug Mart to get it activated. Upon going to the same location where I had purchased the gift card, I was told very rudely by the cashier without even looking at my receipts, “we can’t do anything, you need to call Petro-Canada.” I left the location very frustrated and upset and went to a Petro Canada location to see if the card would work. Upon swiping my card and examining my receipts, I was told that the reason why my card isn’t working was because the last four digits on the authorization receipt, do not match the the last four digits on the back of my card (attached). After discovering this, I had called the Shoppers location where I purchased the card and spoke to the manager and again was told that because the last four digits don’t match that nothing can be done, not even a refund. Needless to say I’m beyond frustrated and upset and I don’t have the time to go back and forth to try and fix this issue, this is very inconvenient. Now I am stuck with a gift card that can’t be used and I have $50 less in my bank account (proof that the money came out of my account is attached). I want this rectified ASAP, whether it would be a refund of my money or a replacement of the card.
Thank you,

I've just come across your post... As I was looking into purchasing gift cards online.
It has come to my attention AFTER receiving a gift card to Winners that was EMPTY for $100 that I and the purchaser was the VICTIM of a CRIME. Cashier's have been known to load a card deduct your account and return to you an EMPTY CARD . They keep and use the card that you paid for. This is a case of establishment employee fraud. They are in a position of trust and take advantage of that. The only way to avoid it is to verify the card serial number before accepting it... and if it doesn't match you call the manager of the store right on the spot.
the old lady works at post office has very terrible attitude.
The location is 1675 Wyandotte St W, Windsor, ON N9B 1H8
Her name begins with a "L". She works at post office. My friend also encountered once and chose to not mail at that time.
Not only one stuff, other two male workers at cashier also have very bad attitude. Only one lady with light red hair works at cashier is extremely nice.
Anybody cares? I just don't go to this store or just buy my stuff at other places.
assistant manager - essex shopper drug mart - extremely hurtful and rude staff
Very disappointed with the poor customer service received today at the Essex Shoppers drug mart! To say that we were treated RUDE would be putting it mildly! I have never experienced such a large amount of disrespect and humiliation from a employee before in my LIFE! She was sooo RUDE and mean to my senior father! I called to complain and the owner of the store is siding with her employees saying that WE were the ones that were in the wrong saying we were using foul language and being extremely disrespectful and are never allowed back! For those that know me and my family... my father is a extremely polite, well educated, Christian business man. In my whole life I have never heard foul language or seen him treat anynone with anything but respect, love and kindness. I will not stand for a man of this greatness be humiliated publicly like this again! I WILL NEVER Step foot in that shoppers ever again! This is unexceptable
