We recently purchased a Samsung set (dishwasher, fridge and stove) from Leons. Their prices were the lowest and the store offered additional discounts if all 3 appliances were bought. We only really needed the dishwasher but got sucked in because of the savings. The dishwasher was installed EXACTLY as per instructions, it ran 1 cycle and started flashing SE on the LCD display which meant drain error. I pulled it out and checked the hose for kinks or clogs but nothing. I called Samsung and they had a tech come out. The problem was with the circuit board and the replacement part was ordered from China! It has been 3 weeks now and Direct Energy (repair service) can't tell us when the part will arrive. We took up the matter with Leons. The statement we got from Customer Service was that they will call Samsung and ask if we can get a replacement model instead of waiting for the part for months. No call backs. We called Samsung, Leons and Direct Energy and they all blamed each other. We simply want a dishwasher that works. We asked Leons repeatedly for a straight replacement but got the same story - we have to wait for the part to arrive because it is repairable. The sales people apologized and stated they were not aware of this problem with the DMR77. How can they sell a product not knowing anything about it? I looked at several blogs afterwards and it is apparent that I am not the only one with the problem. I really want to stick it to Leons but not sure how. I have spent over $10, 000 dollars in their store. I am extremely frustrated and will not recommend buying anything from Leons. I will spread the word to everyone I know to warn them about their poor customer service. All it would take is for them to replace the unit with another one. They are simply not willing to take responsibility for the products they sell.

nothing but trouble, SE code, soap flap won't open, was silent at first but after first repair job is noisy and doesn't clean dishes at all...this is a unit that is used by one person who rinses everything off and uses it about once or twice a week...when codes come up now i run to the breaker panel to flick off the breaker to reset the "computer" and leave the soap holder open and pour vinegar into it to rinse off dishes then wash by hand...nuts or what! Paid $ 1, 199. 99 for this piece of junk

Same here. Had the 9E problem about 9 months ago, i pulled it apart and fixed it. Now the LE problem has lit up. I'll give it another go. Also purchased a Samsung fridge at the same time I acquired the dishwasher. Fridge started leaking about 5 days ago. Both new from Leon's in Feb 2010.

I called Leon's but of course I didn't purchase their extended warranty. Here in Quebec there is something called a legal warranty whereby the item is expected to last a reasonable amount of time. This is subjective and based in part on the dollar value paid for the machine. The manager at Leon's told me I was out of luck, I could take them to small claims court, but the system is clogged up (2 years wait) and I cannot open the machine or have the machine looked at between now and then.

Load of BS. Never - ever - buy a Samsung product.

What a sad excuse for a machine. While the "box" seems to be of high quality the internals are about the cheapest garbage I think you could find and still have the unit function at all. I'm in the process of tearing mine down to bits after it left my kitchen flooded one night (it wasn't even running). Hopefully, I'll be able to find compatible parts made by grownups and rebuild the thing franken-style. The dishwashers everyone I know last 10, 15, even 20 years without just falling apart on the spot one day. Mine is only 4 years old and its decided it's time to become a pile of junk. Poor corporate integrity Samsung, just poor. For just a few dollars more you could have put real parts in there, but you chose to take your customers' hard earned money and run.

I see I'm not alone in my issues with the piece of junk of a dishwasher Samsung sells. I would call it a big old stinking pile of cow manure, but that would be an insult to cow manure. Please, everyone, DO NOT waste your money (and they are NOT cheap dishwashers) on this product. It will cause you nothing but one trouble after the next. Mine lasted almost 3 years, but not without several repairs during that time. It blows fuses so much that I learned to fix that issue myself. The latest was a leakage problem and rather than fix it AGAIN, I have replaced it. And it's not just the issues with breaking down. It also does not get the dishes clean or dry unless you run it on the heavy duty-sanitize option and that takes 3 hours. And even on the longest setting, I would still get stuck on food on the top rack. It's also prone to turning itself on because the front panel is so sensitive if you get close to it, it starts. Another problem is that all the buttons on the control panel wore off within 2 months so that I had to guess where the power button was positioned. Just don't buy this thing.

I didn't do my google search for "Samsung Error SE" before I bought my piece of crap either. I got the DMR78 and now I am worried that I will have to keep fighting this until I decide to buy a better quality one. I bought it December 2009 and it failed Auguse 2010. It sounds like mine lasted longer than most. I am going to subscribe to consumer reports. I bet they caught this one.

Our complaint with the DMR77 dishwasher was all about the poor wash quality. And YES to ''annonymous2'', the food left IS definetly sanitized! We also stupidly accepeted the new DMR 78 as replacement and are having the same problem. The dishes are just not washed well enough. Specially the dishes placed in the top tray. Some pieces of food stay on the dishes before the drying cycle. Once the cycle is over, we have two choices:

1) scratch the dried food off... check your nails...
2) have the dishes soak for a while and wash them manually. Fun !

We're also getting the run arround from Samsung. We are VERY frustrated with their people that keep apologizing like they care.. but they don't. I don't understand how such a well known company does so poorly with service.
If Samsung offers you a full credit, take it an RUN! Oh yeah.. and Sheila also hung up on us!

Hey Samsung! Your dishwashers AND your Toronto service people suck!

Wish I would've read these before my purchase. Hey, at least the bits of food left on the dishes are sanitized, right? I would be ashamed of having this dishdirtier associated with my name. Pieces are busting off of it left and right, even after the fact that it doesn't clean anything. Lowe's has been of little help with these issues, regardless of the extended purchase plan I got with it.

We have the DMR77 dishwasher as well. It has broken several times and we were to the point of Samsung promising to replace it. Today they reneged on that promise and set up service again for next week. I am beyond frustrated. If they had processed the paperwork on the replacement the first or even the second time they said they would we would be done. But they kept setting it aside and now that the backordered part is available they want to attempt (again) to repair it.

I saw here that "hate samsung" was able to get a replacement from Lowe's. Luckily for us we also purchased our dishwasher from Lowe's. While typing this I called them and spoke to the manager on duty. He is going to have the return authorizations person attempt to intervene with Samsung on my behalf. I have no hope at this point that Samsung will do the right thing but I am cautiously hopeful that perhaps Lowe's will be able to help us out.

Stay away from Samsung dishwashers. We had the DMR77 model and it broke. After 6 weeks of waiting for a pump, Lowes stepped in and gave us a check, so we stupidly purchased the updated model DMR78. Again it is broken and I know it will be weeks of waiting for the part. If Lowes steps in again and offers any sort of credit, I will definitely avoid the Samsung dishwashers. Our Refridgerator is great though!

Man, I wish I had read this BEFORE I bought mine. I wish it had happened after one cycle because I bought it at Future Shop and they would have taken it back within 30 days but mine broke down two weeks after the cut off point. So now I'm stuck washing by hand for a family of 6. I specifically asked the guy at Future shop if he had had any problems with these machines and he said no. I'm not sure I believe him; and when I called back they were mildly sympathetic but then asked what I want from them (?) Call Samsung and so far the same scenario as described by Mike... Let the buyer beware.

Well it looks like a trend. I purchased a Samsung refrigerator and a dishwasher from Lowe's. To date I have no comment on the Fridge but when it comes to the Dishwasher, what a piece of junk (real word not appropriate). Went through 2 new Dishwashers before one would run (1st HE Failure, 2nd LE Failure) now the one that I am using lasted approximately 6 loads and now will not change cycles during it's run, have to open and shut the door in order for the timer to continue counting down for the next cycle.
We contacted Samsung with the original dishwasher problem and they informed me that I would be contacted in 3 business days, that was 2 weeks ago and still no contact.
Lowe's has been very helpful in my quest but feel that I will have to go with a different brand to prevent myself from losing my mind. This is the worst thing that I have purchased in my life time, one you can understand, but 3?

Mike and Kathryn,
We had the exact same problem with our dishwasher and they actually gave us a credit at Future Shop for an exchange with no problem. The customer service rep I dealt with (Shelia N) was appalling. I was hung up on 3 times and called a "liar". I am trying to lodge a complaint about her but of course having no luck. Seems the customer service system is a little warped.
