NetSpend - Inability to speak to a reputable agent regarding an estate matter, closing debit card and releasing funds to next of kin

NetSpend will not release funds on a debit card of a deceased party without the next of kin opening an estate for the deceased. Despite several attempts to speak with a reputable representative who could understand that the debit card balance is not a sufficient amount to establish an estate for the deceased. The opening and closing fees in the County jurisdiction are greater than the value of the card.

Instead, NetSpend wants to keep the funds for the corporation.

I have the documentation from the County to justify not filing/opening an estate claim.

Desired outcome: Release the debit card balance to next of kin. Death certificate is available.

NetSpend - All access prepaid card

I am in a horrible bind due to Netspend's decision to lock and not allow me any access to my accounts. This also includes my PayPal prepaid debit card and mobile check cashing. I have been with PayPal and Netspend for years. I am a single mother of 4 and expecting my Advance Child Tax Credit next week to be deposited into my Netspend account. When I called them I was told the compliance department shut down all my accounts. They can't give me a reason, and I have not broken any rules. I don't understand how they can do this without at least notifying me ahead time or at least explain why this decision was made. My children and I were eating dinner at a local restaurant when I went to pay with the only card I had and was declined. I am just sick over this and it's put a huge burden on my children as well. Please help

Desired outcome: open my account back up so I can at least use PayPal

NetSpend - SBA deposit

Hello, I recently was approved for the SBA COVID advances/grants to help my little home daycare get rebuilt again. I have been doing this as my employment over 10 years, have always filed my taxes, which is the reason I have netspend in the first place, my tax filer, liberty tax, gives me the netspend cards to receive my taxes on it, anyways, netspend rejected both of my direct deposits from the SBA, saying the name on the deposits does not match the names on my account. Well my first name, Sherry, is included in my home daycare, "Sherry's Home Daycare." I have got no help from netspend, they are very unhelpful, rude, and seem to have no interest at all in helping their customers, during this horrible pandemic, that has caused a lot of people and small businesses to suffer. They just do not care at all. I faxed them my photo ID front and and back and a copy of my tax return, voluntarily, and still get nothing, no help at all from any of these people. I don't know what else to do.

Desired outcome: have my money in my account according the cares act and federal law

My opinion is they need more qualified people to handle customer service issues, and they need to take some classes on federal law and be up to date on new things signed into law, and abide by these guidelines, and help THEIR customers get the much needed funds, that is rightfully and lawfully theirs!

NetSpend - My netspend all access account

I didn't experience any trouble until the All Access Card was activated. Netspend allowed someone to add a new email and address to my account. I started getting text messages with purchases that were not being made by me. I filed my own police report, so the police knows who the person is, but Netspend says they cannot verify my account. I believe they cannot verify my account because they have allowed someone (I don't know who) to add a new email and address. this why I can't verify the account. I have been effectively shut out of an account that I opened. This is how the person was able to spend all of my stimulus (600 dollars), they had the help of Netspend. I will be picking up my police report tomorrow. They even charged me overdraft fees that was created by this fraud person, they got a big assist from Netspend. SMH.

Netspend is a sick organization and I wish I could actually sue them!

Desired outcome: I have all my documents and I need Netspend to return my funds to me. I wish I can sue them for the mental and stressful burden this has placed on me.

NetSpend - Visa prepaid cards

I bought a netSpend Visa Prepaid Card in 2018 at a local CVS as a wedding gift but held onto it instead, I tried to use it later and found out it only had a 90 day life-span but the outside packaging says it wasn't set to expire until 2021.
This is blatant misrepresentation and packaging.
I want this company to be held accountable for customer fraud.

NetSpend - My locked account

The irs tried to deposit my daughter's covid relief check into my account. Netspend blocked my account before letting me know. Why would they try to put it in my account if my name wasn't on it anyway? The corporate offices are in austin tx but every csr is a rude asian. Why didn't they send it back? I have sent every document and they continue to make excuses. We are in the midst of a global pandemic and I need my money. Please help me. They refuse to even close the account and send my money.

NetSpend - Prepaid netspend card

I got laid off late last year in Florida and then moved to VA. I had been struggling with odd jobs for some time before finally finding something that worked for me. A great job with great people and trainning in Las Vegas. So I fly out to Vegas and Im given some petty cash for the start of my trainning and I decide "Hey why not put some of this money into a prepaid card so I can get around with uber easier and pay a few friends back". That was the worst decision I could have made by far.

After loading 200 dollars onto my netspend card I proceded to send money to a friend who had helped me out in the past. The payment was sent and I was feeling fine.
About ten minutes later or so I thought about another friend who had helped me out and I then attempted to send money to them. Paypal would not let the charge go through saying the card issuer denied the charge (NetSpend).
Thinking its some minor fluke I called Net Spend Customer Service and TRIED to ask a few questions. I say TRIED because they would frequently cut me off while I was in the middle of explaining something. Net Spend explains basically nothing to me about the lock and then asks for a plethora of documents.
Mind you Im in Las Vegas for work trainning and I dont have half of these documents. So Basically Im screwed while on my work trip and thats even with me calling every day from Wednesday to Friday (Flew out Friday) to try and sort this out.
When I landed in DC Friday night I went straight to bed with the goal of sorting this insanity out.

I sent Net Spend a photo of my SSN, my Photo ID, my Florida Unemployment document listing my previous address and my new address. I sent them all of this plus a photo of the reciept and they told me they couldnt verify I was who I say I am.
For almost a week I have been unable to buy food or send money to the people I owe money too, let alone pay bills.
NetSpend customer support has lied twice on the phone to me.
At one point the rep said she would "prioritize my case" and yet when I called in again I was told that they do not prioritize ANY cases (pretty incredible).
Another call I was told a Supervisor would call me back within ten minutes. I waited for 30 minutes before calling them back, and when I got a human on the other end they told me that Supervisors dont talk to the customers. It was only after repeating over and over that I was TOLD I would get a call from a supervisor without requesting it, did I finally get to speak with one.

Then we get to the supervisor. His name was Chris Employee ID 218269. Chris was far better than anyone I spoke too but still bound by the absolutely fraudulent rules of the company, or company policy. After asking Chris why I was getting my claims rejected and why my account is still locked he finally admitted it was because my unemployment letter was not within 30 days.
I reminded Chris that it was unemployment, it doesnt happen every month. I reminded him that just because its from some months ago doesnt matter because the main issue he told me was my address being different. On my unemployment document both the address NetSpend expected, and my current address are listed. Essentially complete proof of my change of residence post being laid off. Chris admitted that this made sense but then stuck to the rule requiring the document to be 30 days old. Forgive any grammar or spelling errors as I write this but I have not been able to eat a full meal since before this ordeal. My bills are hitting the red and my friends are losing patience all because Net Spend has such stupid rules that they cant admit what they already know.

This experience has taught me to not allow any one, friend, family, and enemies to use Netspend products. They got taken to task in 2016 by the FTC for a similar issue regarding peoples money and its not a surprise that they didnt fix a damn thing since then.

The representatives at Netspend don’t speak English well enough to comprehend and solve problems. We need to bring those jobs back to the United States and make those people choose another line of work. This is ridiculous.
