Managing personal information through the Intelius opt-out service is just one step in eliminating its availability. There are many other sites that may provide similar information found on our site. Public records sites, search engines, social networking sites and other online companies provide different levels of information about individuals.

You can also contact your local utility companies, courthouses and/or county offices to determine what information is being made available; and how to have it removed.

To accurately suppress that data, we recommend you follow the ‘opt out’ process found on the Intelius website at http://www.intelius.com/privacy.php . Please review the “How to Remove your Information from the Intelius Public Records Databases” section of the policy. We do require the individual’s identity to be verified prior to processing an opt out; however, if they do not feel comfortable faxing us their driver’s license or other state issued identification; they can send a notarized statement of their identity.

We appreciate your cooperation is resolving this issue apologize for any inconvenience.

Look, I have been trying to contact intelius by phone for two days. I have been using my cell and have used all my minutes waiting for someone to answer the phone. How do I communicate with a live person? Any advise...

Try emailing their customer service department (as it says to do on their on hold message while you wait in the customer service phone queue) at [protected]@intelius.com. They play over and over on the hold message that that is another good way to reach them if you are unable to hold. They usually get back to me within 24 hours.

I cancelled my account with Intelius and the operator was extremely rude. I phoned my credit card company to post a warning against my account about the potiental of it being used by a disgruntled Inelius employee. I hope it does not come to this. They do not answer the phone. Happy to have cancelled my account with them. Had I known I would be treated so rudely, I would have used a different service.

I paid $2.95 for a phone number that is no longer active and an old address. I would like a refund of my money as I did not get what I wanted. Then when I called about this the rep gave me a phone number that is no longer working and an address in
Seattle. The name I gave with inital was not correct. The inital for Seattle (showed no inital) and I got somejincorrect information.

    the irony,

i used the intellius service, then started to recieve a monthly 19.95 monthly fee from a company called adaptive marketing LLC (Canadian). I called them, they told me there was a small box i did not unselect to not recieve their service. I asked them to stop billing me. Over and over they repeated some confusing mumbo jumbo that basically said they would "temporary" stop billing. The true irony is that the service i supposidely purchased is suppose to help prevent credit card scams when i provide them with my credit card numbers. It is best just to cancel your credit card if you ever used the intellius service. I don't recommend confronting them first, i have a feeling once they realize you caught on, they will step up the random billing. What do they care, its a foriegn scam company.

U.S. Internet Consumers Fraud Division please take action.
    Order #[protected] Date 3/20/08
In March 20th, 2008, I purchased a mailing address in New York from Intelius. I was charged $12.90 for the information that was billed to my credit card and a receipt of payment was downloaded for the specified amount. No other services were requested and the transaction was ended.

Not authorized and suspect fraud involved.

During the 27 th. of March 2008, Intelius used my credit card account number a second time and debiting my account for the amount of $19.95 for a service that I have not requested. I consider this to be fraudulent action and demmand inmmediate restitution of the $19.95. Bear in mind that I did not authorized in any way for my credit to be kept in file for future billings and this action is a felony. Your customers service telephone [protected] its a hoax for I have spent more than four hours today trying to make my call go through. The actions of this company, deserve to be investigated by the government. I will not recommend this company to anyone else. My bank was notified of this action.

I have written to you before about my monies being taken out of my account. I ordered a $2.95 deal and only that one. You charged me twice for the $49.99 package. Their order numbers are: [protected] and [protected]. I gave you these numbers 9 days ago and was told my money would be returned to my account within 7 days. This has not happened. I am hoping this is an error on your part and my money will still be returned. Please help me understand why you would do this to a person. Thank you, Penny Luccketta

I ordered the 2.95 & 7.95 look up then I was advised my credit card was charged 7.95 & 49.99 for a total of 57.94 the 49.99 service was not requested. Within 5 minutes I contacted my credit card company and was told the charge had been authorized by not added to my account however they have highlighted the account so when it gets posted it will be disputed.I tried to cancel the 49.99 service which was not requested I called and stayed on hold for 25 minutes, when the operator came on she pretty much said tough and have a good day. I have not received any report and will not open this socall acccount. This company needs to be investigated by the government they are indeed liable for FRAUD.

Since agreeing to a $2.95 one-time charge for procuring an address on a relative that proved to be erroneous, this piece of *#%[email protected] outfit has invaded our privacy with threats of exposing our predilection for pornography--which doesn't exist, and never has---incurred a $12.61 charge rather than $2.95, basically destroyed our comfort level for doing business over the internet, and continues to blanket our screen with their solution to our " PROBLEM " ---- some ridiculous software offer to save our souls ! Intelius is a joke, don't even bother to try to reach them by phone--- a total waste of time. Somebody needs to enact legislation to deal with this type of harassment. We aren't looking for a bad situation with anyone, but have filed a report with the police---- NOT that they are going to be able to track down this group. Intelius---knock yourself out ! We are not going to pay you 10 cents for your worthless service. As for the malicious program that YOU have added to our hard drive, the computer was a hand-me-down and needed replacing anyway. I have been trying to contact someone, anyone to help correct the wrong address and MAP that appear in connection with my name and phone number.

A package was sent to the incorrect address because your search engine was used to find my address. My name and phone number are correct, but somehow a different address than mine is shown. I have checked with the phone company, and there is no listing for the incorrect address you show as mine.

    Please help!!

    Intelius!! UNSUBSCRIBE US NOW!!!
We have destroyed the credit card we were stupid enough to give you access to,
and changed banks. We also filed a fraud complaint against you. Who do you
think you are? Word of mouth is your best advertisement, and as far as I can
tell, you aren't making a whole lot of friends out there. You've got a lot of nerve,
and it's not the money, it's the principle!!Outfits like INTELIUS are going to be
the downfall of E-commerce. Does it even occur to you to just provide the
requested service at the stated price? What the hell is the matter with you?

I was upset to see you had all the info address correct, name correct, date of birth was correct but, I don't know the people you have listed as relatives. who are these people. This is a married name and my children's name is woodward. I have no relatives with carroll. You have my address in Tx correct, but I have never lived in Ms or baton Rouge. Where do you get this info. My home is value is 125 thousand and I make more that you have. Once again where is this info coming from.

I recently came across your website when searching the Ca. DMV. When I searched my own record I found that your records are inaccurate! You have listed address of places where I haven't even visited the town let alone lived there. I was unable to access my report concerning MY INFORMATION without paying a fee! I called your [protected] phone number and was told to print out the form, circle the addresses, and fax this page to [protected] requesting that I be opted out on these addresses. This e-mail is a follow up on that phone call. I would like a free copy of the report that your company is circulating concerning my personal information while claiming it is accurate, I am very curious to know what else may be in this report that isn't accurate. You can send a copy to the above e-mail address.

DO NOT ever buy any "products" from Intelius.com.

I wanted to do a criminal record search on some *** that stole my identity. You find out ABOUT the record, but you can't view it's contents. They mislead you into thinking if you spend just a little more money, you've got it. Fat chance! All they do is tell you about more reports that you have to buy. They do not tell you anything, except that you have to buy into the next level of their scam. Their system is built up in layers. Every new type of info cost more money. They want you to buy the 50 dollar report, which I didn't do, but I ended up wasting 40 dollars anyway.

These people are con artists. They are not a legitimate business.

    STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!

After contacting PMidentity, I was informed by Tiffany, That I had clicked the wrong box and signed up for there service. This happened because Intelius has a very confusing stite, I found that out because of the complaints posted on their site and I was not the only one who was SCAMMED. After questioning who Pmidentity was and their relationship with intelius, I was told they were independant of Intelius. After this I was promted to contact Intelius to find out why these SCAMMERS are allowed to PHISH on there site. I was then told that they were in fact the same company just differant departments. I have since severed my ties with Intelius and have reported this scam to my credit card fraud division and have been given a list of agencies to help follow this up.

I only now have realized that I was inadvertanly charged over $300 in the past 10 months ($14.95 twice a month) by companies I have never even heard of: 24 protect plus and privacy matters). I cannot seem to get my money back. It seems a lot of people have had this experience: what can I do?
