My promotional purchase (fees for dental service) was to become due on June 6/11/06. On 5/14/06 I had my credit card send an electronic payment for the entire principle of the loan. I have the confirmation number of this transaction. For some unknown reason, which GE Money Bank has refused to explain, this payment was returned to my credit card. Immediately upon the notice of its return, I sent a letter to them asking for the reason for the return of the electronic payment. I have the letter from my credit card company to substantiate this rejection. I then replied with two payments within the specified time. I was overseas at the time, and although I immediately made payment, GE Money Bank did not credit the payments to my account until June 17, 2006. Of course, this made the payment APPEAR to be delinquent. Since then, I have sent at least 9 letters, including documentation, called their toll free number numerous times. Each time I called I was told to put my complaint in writing. Each written response was followed with a form letter asking me to phone their toll free number. One representative suggested that I might FAX the information. I did this TWICE and never received the courtesy of a reply. Meanwhile, the account has been referred to a collection agency and finally to an attorney. The total amount GE claims that I now owe in finance charges and late fees is $2,126.76 ALL IN INTEREST and LATE FEES. Although the federal and state consumer regulations state that the creditor must answer written complaints within a specified time, this has yet to be done.

Just throwing this out there... the law states that creditors, and collections can only call you once every 7 days. Any more than this constitutes harrassment and they can be sued.

These people are the most terrible and I think criminal people I have ever run into, and believe me I've run into a lot. It does sound as if we have so far gotten off easy. My problen started with getting a mattress from Sleep Comfort. We did not know at first that they financed us through G. E. M. B. We probably would'nt have cared since even with all the problems we have had we tend to trust people. Our loan was only $800 dollars with no interest if paid within a year. No payments for a year either. However we did realize that we didn't want to pay their intrest and so we went through our banks bill pay and had them send the payments. We had waited for 2 month before we started our payments so I guess they thought they would get there interest. Our last payment was paid before the year so we relaxed glad we didn't have to pay all that interest. We recieved a bill showing we had paid it off and didn't owe anymore. One month later we recieved a bill for over $90 due to insurance added after the bill was paid off. We called Sleep Confort to see what the extra money was for and were informed that as far as they could see we were totally paid off and didn't owe anything. We called the "bank" and were told they couldn't understand why they would add insurance after the bill was paid. We talked with 3 very nice prople who all agreed that there records showed our bill as paid in full, meanwhile we were getting bills which included $29 of late charges and interest and anything else they could think of. I cann't get of my attorney general because evertime I click on Print forms to make a complaint it won't open after I download it. Because we have documentation to send I can't send it e-mail. I would love to join in a class action suit or anything else anyone can think of. My only trouble is I'm disabled and my husband works, but we still have a very limited budget. Thanks for listening to me growl ! I hope we all get out of the fixes were in and G.E.Money Bank gets what they deserve.

Dont ever co-sign for a GE Money Bank purchase. This isnt a installment contract but a Credit Card, with outragous interest and all kinds of fees. My Grand daughter bought a motor scooter using GEMB and failed, for over two years, to make adequate or timely payments. The original purchase was for $3284.44 and 24 months later she still owed $3087.84 after making $2822 in payments over the same time period. Due to this poor payment record GEMB sent this derogatory information to the Credit Agencies listing ME as the problem person. I didnt discover this information until disapproved for a cosigner on a Student Loan for a Grandson. GEMB never contacted me about this and their comment was two fold. One was, tough cookies baby you signed and Two, my account is important to them as they strive to serve their customers in a timely and satisfactory manner. A total contridiction in words as their actions say just the opposite. Legal but incensative.

I have been late on some of my payment's but I do pay them with the late fees. The problem I have is GEMB calling on the weekends after I have asked them to call Mon. thru Fri. 8am. to 9pm. central time. This is the only time I will do or discuss any business matters. For some reason Dianne cannot understand this and has put refusal of payment after I remind her not to call on weekends. Hope no one else has this problem.

i opened a care credit acct. in may of this year for some dental work. BIG MISTAKE! time passed & i never recieved a statment for my $340 dental work. i called 4 days before my 1st due date to find out why & was told that my address was incorrect. she corrected it & told me there would be no late fee assesed & not to worry, she would get my statment out right away. never got it.
3 weeks later i got a call from the call center in INDIA, operater Shirley Parker (yea, right!) asking for payment. now my bill was $379 with the $39 late fee. i told her that i still had not seen a paper stament & would like something in writing.
i also explained that i was planning to pay the balance in full when i recieved a bill. she told me that if i would do a phone pay she would "waive" the late fee. i did so for an aggreed amount of $340 (amount of principle).
i called my bank check my balance & found that GE Bank had taking $379 out of my account! i contacted care credit who directed me to GE`s call center where i had the pleasure of speaking with one Mr." Joe Smith" (obviously not his real name seeing as he could barely speak english). After putting me on hold for 20 min. he tells me that they can "mail" me a check for the $39 fee in about 3 weeks. i asked why it only took 24 hours for them to take the $ from me & 3 weeks to give it back? he said it was the "process". i then expained to "Joe Smith" that in America taking more $ than i have authorized is called theft & punishable by prison time. oh yea, i also asked to speak to his supervisor. he said he didn`t have one. i called my bank & am going first thing monday morning to file a AHC Dispute to try to insure that i get my $ back & i have closed my CARE CREDIT account. hope this is the end to all this but from reading these comments i don`t think i`ve heard the last of GE BANK! no it`s not alot of $ (yet) but it`s the principle of the matter.

My husband and I are in the similar situation with ge money bank. What a ripoff. He had dental work done a couple years back with the 0% promotional rate. His credit line was $2500. He didn't
even spend the limit and because we defaulted on the loan after making months of payments . We owe $7200 which $4700 is all late and overlimit fees. We kept making payments to no avail because it wasn't even touching the principle and our total was even more in the red after making a payment. I talked with someone in April who said our balance was $6600 and today I talked with someone who informed me it was now $7200. I asked why the $600 jump in 3 months and I was told interest does not stop accuring on the loan. Sounds like a true scam to me. They are also rude and try to use strong arm tactics.

This company has been calling my elderly father's home dozens of times a day. I talked to some guy who says my dad owes them $5615.16 . I ask what for because dad knows nothing about any of this and they would not tell me what the charge was for only that it was owed to them and they were taking legal action. I told them to jam it where no light ever reaches and to stop calling now they have started sending letters. The Guglielmo Asssociates Attourneys at Law. PO Box 41688 Tuscon Az. 85717 They also list a bunch of addresses and names with the letter H and HH and HHH and on and on no 800 number but [protected] . I have requested that GE Money Bank send my father a full explination of this to his address where I manage his affairs and they have never sent anything. I ask them to what address the billing was sent to and they did not have that information. Well I am about as street smart as a guy can get and not go to jail and this sounds like a scam and the company is trying to defraud elderly people of thousands of dollars. I know that old folks like my dad always paid in full every cent they owed to anyone they got money from, I should be so good.
This company seems to get some ones information and attach a large amount to them and I think they know allot of people will never dispute the fact and many do not remember so they just pay up. Sorry GE Money Bank I keep track of old dad and he never got any money from your creepy bunch of thugs. I will join any law suit you people can get together. If a person really got money from them don't you think they would say here is a contract with your signature. Ah a signature that makes it legal right? No contract no signature well I don't know of a judge that would make anyone pay out on hear say. Oh by the way I think allot of people owe me for thousands of dollars, but no contract so I guess I am out of luck also.

this company is so totally unfair in their rules and they do stupid stuff to hurt others. I had a card with JCPennys since 1998 and they closed my account because I had to file bankruptcy on some other stuff after my husband died in 2003. I had never been late with a payment of anything in all those years and was only paying insurance thru the card most months. They are unfair and should not even be allowed to deal in credit with people.

I did not pay it... now I am facing $39 late fee and $293 finance charge... I am so mad and have no idea what to do. I think they do that to a lot of people...

WOW. I had a loan with GE for my hearing aids and had no trouble
with them . Paid my $100 a month until it was paid off. BUT;
I had been thinking of putting my semi annual health insurance on
their card until I read the comments.
There is no way I will deal with these people again. In addition to
their, seemingly, deceptive practices the one thing I can't stand is
having to deal with people who do not speak English. My hearing is
bad enough without having to keep asking these people to slow down
and please speak more clearly.
Thanks for the thumbs down on this company.

Why "run like hell"?... instead, let's organize and file a class action law suit against this corrupt institution.

I bought a motorcycle and it was financed thru GEMB. The loan was for only $7, 000 and have been payingmotr than the minumum payment. Well after my deployment overseas and paying on it for over two years. I find out I have still $6, 200 left to pay and they have been tacking on a $140.00 finance charge and all I can get is this lousy automated service. If a class action suit will get this settled then count me in. I work to hard for my money just pay for their mistakes.

I too have been screwed by GE Money Bank to the tune of $2500. I noticed that someone on this forum posted an address in Kettering OH. Does anyone know where the customer service is handled? For $2500, I won't bother with the phone hassle. I would rather drive there and air my grievances personally. I also would be interested in a class action suite. Also, anytime anyone receives a posted paid envelope from these butt sucks, Say, in an application for a credit card, please send it back taped to a brick.

Something has to be done. I just paid off my entire balance today and they charged me twice for the same invoice. i cant reach anyon and this would be four weeks prior to the expiration of the promotion. I dont know how rescind the second thousand dollar charge because I made the charge with my debit card and I cant get anyone to answer the customer service line. Corporations continue to prey upon individuals. I think we get together and file a claim. There simply too many complaints of foul play on this e-board.

I had a similar problem to the ones mentioned here. I was assessed fees, then when I tried to correct my account I was put on hold for half an hour then hung up on numerous times, tried to speak with a supervisor and was told I couldn't, asked for the person's name that I was speaking to (when I finally did get a live voice) and was refused, threatened, etc. Is there any kind of class action suit against GE Money? Has anyone sued individually? I paid the money I owed, but would rather go to court than pay GE Money a cent that I don't owe them.

In March of 2008 I went to Banana Republic to make a purchase, given the price for clothing I had easily accumulated a large bill, the sales associate informed me that by opening a Banana Republic Visa card issued by GE Money Bank I would save 20%. Now I typically don’t go for offers like this but I like Banana Republic and I fully intended to pay the card off in full as soon as the statement was received. Now in April my statement comes and I go online make a payment on April 11, 2008. To confirm payment had gone through I called the following week to check my account status and according to the recording “payment was received April 11th 2008 for $527.04”.

Now for the fun part….. About three weeks later I start receiving phone calls from the collections department notifying me that my payment didn’t go through and that I now owe $590.04. Turns out I must have enter the account number incorrectly but rather then notify me of the error they post on all the website account phone service and next months statement that a payment was made on April 11th 2008 for 527.04. So I call a number of individuals so that I can get to the bottom of this I am transferred from department to department and each one offering no assistance other then to tell me that I am past due on payment and that I owe then $590.04. Finally fed up with GE Moneys Goons I call the customer service representative directly with Banana Republic I explain to him the situation and he waves the late fee but unfortunately not the return check fee so I agree to pay my balance in full and the return check fee over the phone with him for a total of $556.04. On May 6th 2008, the check is cashed and I was able to see payment and a copy of the cashed check on my bank account.

So at this point I am happy to be done with it But boy was I wrong…. Apparently this was just the beginning. About two weeks after this I receive a phone call from GE moneys collections department informing me that I payment is past due and that I currently owe $91 dollars for this months billing period. I explain to Sarah the collections agent that the payment was made on the phone and cashed by GE Money on May 6th 2008. She notified me that my payment was credited to someone else’s account and that she would take care of it. She also told me to call back the following Tuesday to confirm adjustment had been made. When I called the following week I was notified that it would take 14 days to make the changes and that my file was marked under review. On Sunday June 1st 2008 I was once again contact by my dear friends from GE moneys collections department that payment was past due that they have no record of any payment being made (which if I call for account information it is still saying my April 11th payment went through) and that my balance is now $492.04. So my first question to this individual was if my originally bill was for $527.04 and I never made a payment how is it that my balance is now less then the original bill? I think I defiantly caught them off guard with that question because she had no idea how to respond and put me on hold at which point I wait for 20 minutes before I hung up. I called back a little bit later and was finally allowed to speak with a manager who apparently sees where the payment was made but unfortunately couldn’t make any changes; I would have to contact another department who doesn’t work on the weekends.

Which brings me to today…. June 2nd 2008, on my way into work a lovely women (AKA the spawn of Satan ) contacted me from collection to inform me that I owe payment and to ask if I am ready to pay, I went through the play by play of the past two months when I was met with “ you owe $492.04” so I asked her the questions that has been plaguing me…. If I didn’t make a payment how is my current balance less then the original
? The Einstein that she was replied “you just said they credited your account” so at this point I realized I was better off talking to a rock so I requested a manager and I was denied that request. She informed me that “obviously all I do is request a manager and then never pay my bill”. She then told me I need to mail or fax her proof of payment, something I would be happy to do you would think she would the correct fax number or at lest the correct number I could call back to confirm the fax was received; but that would make sense but in fact she gave me two numbers that do not exist. I called again and got in touch with yet another manager who gave me her direct fax number but when I call to speak with her regarding the account and the received fax I am told that she is to lunch well she has been to lunch for about the past 3 hours and my account still hasn’t been correctly updated. Grrrrrrr does anyone now what steps I can no take?

We are military currently stationed overseas about to return to US and have applied for home loan only to see that have credit account delinquent 150 days past due on Sam's Card account that my husband and I personally closed at Sam's club in June 2006 due to no Sam's club at our overseas duty station. We subsequently received GE Money Bank credit card balance of $40.00 for annual Sam's Club dues and immediately sent the bill back stating we had closed the account already. Within 2 months we sent a letter dated 9/29/2006 stating that we would like our account closed (again). We finally received a letter confirming closure of the account and that Equifax, Experian, TransUnion and Innovis were notified "...to let them know you have decided to close this account." on December 1, 2006. We subsequently received another bill on December 20, 2006 with a $40 balance, in addition Jan 2007, and again Feb 2007 all three bills being sent back with a copy of the December 1, 2006 letter. We subsequently received no further bills.
Fast forward to May 2008, we are applying for home loan upon return to US and this shows up on our loan preapproval as 150 days past due for the annual Sam's Club fee. To add insult to injury, after calling from overseas, I had to demand to keep moving up the chain finally getting to a manager explaining that I am prepared to give GE Money Bank no more than 2 weeks to rectify this as it is costing me 0.25% on a 30 year home loan, and I am about to leave here in the next 2 weeks, and cannot afford this being lost in a paper loop. I specifically requested that I have someone answer my questions as to why I even need to dispute this in that I already have a letter from GE Money Band stating they have caneled my account. The answer was "either pay the $40.00 or write a letter to dispute. I requested a phone number of a company customer service representative, a number to apply for employment, an internet site to contact for customer complaints, and inquired on how they monitor themselves for quality control, all with the same answer among 3 different persons"...we cannot/or don't have access to that information..." I informed the manager that I am prepared to take legal action immediately upon return to the US in the next couple of weeks if I am not assured this will be rectified in the next 15 days. I also pointed out that suggesting that I pay $40.00 to clear this credit is a form of extortion. I also asked if the call was being recorded (as was my hope) and it was stated that it was, by one representative and the manager. Finally, the manager asked my to call Monday, as he would call "... his dispute manager and would see how he could help due to my upcoming moving circumstances. It is early AM here now SAT, it remains to be seen what kind of answer I get in 72 hours, if I can even get hold of this manager again.

Of note, after much prodding by me to the second representative, I asked what is the expected turn around time for me if I send a letter of dispute, and to no surprise the first 3 times I asked, it was "...it depends, they need to process and investigate it..." Finally, I got her to give me a time in days and she stated that I would receive a notice within 30 days. (Unacceptable in my case, which is what prompted me to request the manager above).

If there is anyone else out there with similar circumstance, I have informed GE Money Bank representatives that I am willing to take legal action if they do not take this opportunity to fix this problem in a timely manner (2 weeks).

By the way, for Suzy above, I do have a life, and do pay my bills on time, and do treat people with dignity and respect until I am given an obvious run around, treated with disrespect and no empathy nor accountability when I have documentation proving the wrongdoing of this company, as do many of the persons above. I deal with extremely demanding and litiginous persons every day in my profession, and you seem to be a little too sensitive to the persons/this company who are perpetuating poor customer service and hidden agendas. I am sure that if you are doing good work at your job, you will have less demanding customers and I pray that you are not one that will easily play tit for tat when dealing with an unruly customer. Remember, we are the customers and the customer is always right! At least that's how I treat those in my workplace, no matter how unruly they are.

Please excuse any typos, it's late here in the Far East.

Please, Please nobody should ever get loans, credit cards etc. from this company. They are HORRIBLE.
I had a Sam's Club card and when we moved overseas I cancelled it. I received the confirmation letter from the bank stating they had cancelled my account. The VERY NEXT MONTH the card (which is supposed to be cancelled) was charged the Sam's membership fee. I sent them copies of the letter along with the bill and said to please cancel this bill the account was closed.
Well needless to say I went back and forth with them for months!
Finally they stopped billing me.
Well guess what, we also have excellent credit and now we are in the process of getting loans for a house because we are moving back home (USA). We have to explain to the bank why we had a Sam's club account overdue by 150 days! They didn't clear the debt.
I want to sue these ###s!

GE Money Bank doesn't send out statements to me just late fees. I guess this is what they do. IS there somebody we can talk to other than a lawyer about a class action suit?

Incident
I got a care credit card to take care of dental expenses. limit was $1000, I had been paying regularly and paid close to $400 ON TIME, so i was suprised to find that they had turned me over to collections and my bill was now at $1300. I asked that they investigate, sent in all money order receipts i could find and copies of checks. they still call about twice a day trying to collect money, but Why would i send in money if they lost all but one payment that I have made? i tell them, they still call constantly. they are messing up my credit by turning me into collections and i paid regularly and sometimes twice a month to get the bill out of the way. WHAT DO I DO?

Damage Resulting
MONEY MONEY MONEY, they lost money and give ME late charges and fees. they harass me for their mistake, they aren't looking into it, nobody listens when you call into customer relations.

We are experiencing all of the problems associated with GE Moneybank that I have read on this site. The issue is interest
due in arrears on a television purchased at Tweeter. Apparently, this problem is widespread and is approaching fraud.
We are in the litigation phase at this point and would appreciate any information from former litigants that have prevailed over GE Moneybank. This case is to be turned over to NJ Consumer Affairs so we'll wait for the outcome.

Like many others, my experience with GE Money Bank is nightmarish! I took advantage of a 12 month - no payment/no interest financing on a home entertainment system from Tweeter. We made regular voluntary payments, working the balance down so that the final "balloon" would be minimal. Well, due to starnge but true circumstances, we missed that last payment by 8 days.
I expected finance charges to be applied, and they were - $3500 on an $11, 000 purchase for one year! I filed an appeal and was called by a GE Money Bank employee, whose Name and ID# I recorded. He was actually somewhat sympathetic, and offered me a settlemnet in full for 50% of the charges. I accepted and paid that amount.
My mistake - I never received the offer in writing. Didn't think I needed it since I had his name and ID and I made the payment. Surely he would have documented the offer somewhere in the computer system or files.
Well, as yo can now guess, GEMB refuses to acknowledge the existance of the settelment offer, so they have called, their outsourced collection agents have called, etc., demanding the other 50%, plus additional finance charges. I have given the facts to at least 10 people, filled out thier dispuye form 3 times, etc. Nobody will take any action - I guess I am headed towards court. I am afraid I will lose because I trusted that when they make a settlement offer, they document it. But maybe they don't. And then they harass you and sue you for more money.

I refused to give them my SS #because the states in terms, they will share all information provided to them with other companies unless you submit in writting, on there form, to opt out. This form will be mailed to you on request after your application is processed. When I called, they explained all this to me. I did not give them my SS # By the time I could opt out they would have sold it many times over. I paid cash for my item.
From Our Government
"Commercial sale of SSNs. A major concern is the sale of SSNs over the Internet by information brokers. “As long as criminals can buy a list of names and SSNs through an Internet auction, we will continue to be plagued by the consequences, ” the Social Security Administration’s inspector general noted. (Testimony before the Subcommittee on Social Security of the House Committee on Ways and Means, July 10, 2003, http://waysandmeans.house.gov/hearings.asp?formmode=view&id=655 ) In recent years, most information brokers have curtailed the practice of selling SSNs. GE MOney Bank sent a credit card I applied to the wrong address-which they deny. My statements were going to this address also. By the time they called I owed $50.00 In late fees. I paid the amount of the purchase I had made but refused to pay thelate fees because I never got any statements or even the credit card. The very first person I talked to admitted they were sending the statements to the wrong address. Everyone after that denied it. They called me 4 and 5 times a day for months. I kept refusing to pay late fees I felt I did not owe. They have single handedly ruined my credit. I had a spotless record for 30 years. I finally ended up paying around $150.00 in late fees that I still say I did not owe because they were too stupid to send the statements to my address. MY credit is still ruined even though I paid them. The fact that everyone except the first person I talked to denied they were sending things to the wrong address tells me that they are crooked or they have no idea what they're doing.

I am a co signer for a vet bill and the payment was late twice. I was never contacted to that and then ended up with delinquency payments on my credit report. I have tried to settle this with GE MOney but I get no response. I even am willing to pay the whole bill off if they will take off my delinquencies they put on.
I should have been notified to make any corrections.

I absolutely hate ge money bank. I applied for the gap credit card back in october. they said " if you apply for the card u receive a 20 % discount on the purhase) I gave them all my information and even showed the cashier my drivers license #
months had passed by and I never received a credit card or a bill. I thought it was odd but didn't think anything of it. in February I started receiving phone calls everyday . they never left messages. I called back the number and gave them my information ...such as phone number, name..etc.. ..the stupid customer reps at ge money bank kept saying " "well, you owe us 123.00 on this account. and I questioned them...I asked them " what do I owe you for ?" and they said " for the items you purchased in october at the gap. I told them " I never received a bill or credit card.. the customer rep just replied "I will send this to our complaint & resolution dept. " they still kept harrasing me. I ran my credit score and sure enough it was on there. I kept calling ge money bank and gave them my information ..they had a hard time trying to locate my account #. I gave them everything and said " this account doesn't exist...etc... I kept going back and forth with these guys. Finally, a customer rep said " well, I have your address in north carolina... " I told them ..I have never lived in north carolina... always lived in texas and my driver's license has always been tx DL. I told them I refuse to pay the 123.00 . It was an error on their part. they reduced the bill to 71.00 .. I disputed the score with the credit bureau. I told the customer rep that i wanted the credit card cancelled. I got a notice a week ago sayin my account is opened and they had lowered my credit limit to 200.00. because I had too many deliquent accounts open.( I have a car loan and student loan that are not deliquent . .
I'm also upset because they never cancelled my credit card like I requested . they said that they would go ahead and cancel it. Now, I have to send a letter to equifax stating that tthere are no deliquent accounts . hopefully, my credit score will be better after this. GE Money bank is a nightmare and I have learned never ever to sign up for anything in the store.

I'm not a fan of big government but this calls for a little intervention. This is exploitation of the consumer. A similar incident happened to me when I purchased a sleep by number bed. They financed just what I needed so that when the interest kicked in, my balance would be so far over the limit that I'll be paying over the limit fees for months to come. If this does not stop, I pray that society gets fed up with credit cards or "borrowing more than you can afford" that we all boycott these money making banks that practice the anithesis of Robin Hood.

I set up a credit account with GE Money via Southern Dental. Planned payments were $80 per month. (What a joke). I just wish one company would stand by its word. Sent my account to collections ;according to them, payments were two days late. Increased monthly payment to $110 per month added a $39 late charge. However, once I pay the $110, payment will return to original payment agreement. I am called all day (every 40 minutes). Calls start at 8:00am and continues until 9:00pm. Just sent a letter to corporate office. Trying to refrain from being nasty to them, but they push your buttons real bad. Don't be scammed into using GE money. Oh yeah, don't bother to tell them that you are unemployed, and still trying to make payments. It's like a joke. Please stay away from G.E. Money

The financing company works from the information submitted by the dealer-that is why it is crucial to read the contracts thoroughly prior to signing. GE Money is unable to get involved with a dealer dispute unless legally advised to do so-have you spoken with the dealer? If you have a copy of a contract showing a discrepancy then send it to the finance company for correction or get a lawyer.
