GE Money Bank Saying I called in and closed my account

I hate calling this place! They obviously outsource their customer calls oversees somewhere because their accents make it so hard to understand. They closed my account without me ever asking them to, and they have the gall to say I myself called in when I never did such a thing. They tell me to open it back up, I will have to reapply. Do they actually think I ever would do business with them again? NO WAY!

GE Money Bank - Collections

I submitted an application at Mervyns after buying some clothes for my daughter. The 15% discount sounded like a great idea just to aquire a $500 credit card. This was on 4-04-08. On 5-05-08 after having not received my card yet, I drove back over to Mervyns and asked the cashier if I could pay my bill. She could not access my account without an account...

GE Money Bank Business practices

In February 2007, I found myself unemployed for a short-time. Long enough that after a few months I wasn't able to make payments to my debts, almost even losing my house to foreclosure. I finally got a permanent full-time job, making sufficient wages versus the part-time job and temp jobs that I was working. But during those dark times and lack of funds I supplemented my income using Payroll Advance companies, which I got into heavy, up to five loans.

In February 2008, I wrote my creditors explaining the outcome and the need to eliminate my dependency of the Payroll Advance companies. I promised to make a $10 monthly payment, in good faith, till I was out of the Payroll Advance clutches. Aspire Bank discharged my account to zero balance, immediately. The others didn't care less. Then in May 2008, I obtained a loan to pay off my creditors.

Each creditor was connected to settle for a lesser amount in order stretch out the loan money. HSBC was the only company to fax me a copy of the agreement and completely closed my account after receiving the payment. Applied Bank turned me over to a collection agency (PRS) and I was forced to deal them. PRS agreed to a lesser amount but would not fax a copy of it. CitiFinanical submitted a check to Applied Bank for what was listed on my credit report. I was told that by law they are to reissue me the almost $400 difference. I even call PRS again to confirm agreement. The check was sent out to Applied Bank, but they credited the whole amount of the check to my account. Currently have a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General's office against them.

Washington Mutual also turned me over to a collection agency and they refused to settle for a lesser amount. They did agreed to remove two fees to lower the balance to the amount of the check issued thru CitiFinanical. Again no fax received for agreement, check based on credit report, phone call to confirmed. WAMU is not honoring the removing of the fees to close out my account. Remaining balance of $55.33 not a great amount, but still an agreement was made.

The worst offender, GE Money Bank, they agreed to lesser amount on two of my accounts. No fax received, and when I told them I was recording the phone calls they declined to talk to me. One check was issued by CitiFinancial to GEMB. A large part of the check was to pay off American Car Care Credit and the balance applied to Care Credit. I sent a personnel check to Care Credit for the remaining balance. Both checks were overnighted, received and signed for by due date. Both checks cleared the banks four days later.

GEMB insisted they have not received any payments. Copies of the cleared checks were faxed to them as proof of payment. They have finally stated that they did receive the CitiFinanical check, but not my. And I not sure at this time if they are honoring the agreed lesser amount. I have filed a complaint against GEMB with the OTS Consumer Response Center in Washington DC, which when I tell GEMB this they don't seem to care.

Thank you for allowing me to express my grief. This is the first media that I have contacted, but plan to contact more and hopes to inform others of Consumer Awareness.

Yes GE Money as it's known in little old New Zealand is indeed a shoddy outfit. The left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing, they make unrealistic threats, cannot think outside the square, will not negotiate or be flexible and they have arrived in NZ and are slowly but surely taking over almost all the consumer finance companies and this is a concern. I have no problem with these guys expecting and getting their money but I do have a problem with business ethics and reputation. The professionalism of this company in NZ anyway is almost laughable if it wasn't for the people they are dealing with. I asked for a 2mth payment holiday after which time I would pay the entire loans I have with them off completely thus being much earlier than required. I was rewarded with accusations and a repo letter. It is these kind of finance companies that I would love to take to task and it is the reason I have decided to retrain as a lawyer and deal to these kind of companies on behalf of the unsuspecting little guys! Good luck to everyone who deals with them, you will need it! Better still go without and dont fall into their trap!

GE Money Bank Debenham's store cards.

Ge Money is the company which controls the financial operations of store cards issued by the Debenham's stores in the UK (slogan: "Debenham's - the UK's Favourite Department Store").

Debenham's is a reputable retailer selling good / high-quality /good value merchandise of all kinds. But their reputation is tarnished somewhat by the problems that some customers - myself included - have had with errors / miscalculations on their store card accounts. Closed accounts left open; a refusal to answer letters sent to their "Head of Collections" (an "A. Hall" - Man? Woman?); letters sent to customers containing theats of legal action; intimidating phone-calls to customers at week-ends; and so on. All features of the GE house-style of business. Is it incompetence? Dishonesty? You decide. Either way, the customer loses out.

GE Money's name in the UK is not good - check out a Google search of (say) "GE Money" dishonest; or "GE Money" scam - and a clear picture emerges.

Debenham's (and other reputable retailers) must, eventually, realise the damage that GE are doing to the reputation of their stores' cards, and act accordingly by severing links with them. The retailers - and their customers - deserve better.

Seb.

I have similar experience. Cancelled my Debenhams card in January. Was told on the phone that I would receive no further correspondence regarding the account. All was fine til June when I received a statement with balance of £35 for card protection. I know that I should have cancelled the card protection with the insurers but my argument is that NO 3rd party should be able to reactivate a closed account without my consent! The payment should have been refused and the the 3rd party then could take up the issue with me. It seems it is in fact impossible to close a Debenhams Account cos they will just reactivate it if someone asks them for money! Ihave since had to pay interest and account cover charges! Not happy and they have been unhelpful. Hoping the Ombudsman will help me out with complaining!

I agree. I have been late with payments and suffered the same carry on with phone calls all the time. I was busy and never in as my father was in hospital. I now need advice as I have been advised that on my credit file I am showing as having missed 3 months payments with my debenhams account - this was when I opened the account and I did not know that it was time to pay as I did NOT receive any statement. I actually contacted THEM to say I still have not paid anything. How do I sort this out, will they amend this as it is clearly damaging my credit status.

Below are posts that I made to another blog that may show you how much I agree about G E Money...

I agree that GE are difficult. I received my first statement for my new Debenham’s Card and paid it within a day or two. I used the card over Christmas, and last week received my statement that showed that I had not paid my last statement. When I checked, it turns out there was a second statement that didn’t reach me. I was away on business for a week and my home received constant calls from GE. Today, first day back in work, I phoned Debenhams card services. They were extremely helpful. Apologised about the error, removed the interest charge and took my payment there and then. I am now in the clear with them, but I have highlighted to them that whilst I am very happy to shop in Debenhams, I will never consider using my card again as long as they use GE Capital as the issuer. As an aside, I had a car loan with GE Capital many years ago, and at that time I said never again. Now, I really mean it. They lay on charges and fair play to them if they get away with them. They just won’t have a chance with my hard earned cash in future.

My saga continues… After closing my Debenham’s Account, with much discussion to Debenham’s in Henry Street telling them about my disappointment… I started to receive letters months later from G E Capital saying that I continue to owe them money. I telephoned and was told by the customer services person that this was in error, I didn’t owe money and he would sort it. I then received a second letter… I contacted the Financial Services Ombudsman who asked me to write for explanation to G E Money. I did so, and was told that due to an audit in June it was discovered that they didn’t charge me enough when closing my account… This was despite sending me a cheque for overpaying the account. I am now sending more correspondence to the ombudsman’s office and would encourage anyone reading this with issues with G E Money to do so… They cannot be allowed to continue to treat clients like this in the name of Debenham’s

GE Money Bank Horrible Customer Service

I am writing today to advise you of recent events that have taken place with GE Money Bank that has led to me being a very dissatisfied customer/account holder. To help you gain a better understanding of my frustration I would like to lay the foundation for you. My wife and I are in the process of closing on a new home at the end of this month.
As a result our loan officer recommended that we reduce our debt to income ratio, to increase our overall FICA score with the underwriter. On April 15th we posted an online payment in the amount of $4834.27. Once the payment was posted we provided documentation to our loan officer at Southwest Funding showing that the payment had been posted. The next day April 16th, we printed a receipt from your website indicating that our new loan balance was $1900.

On Thursday, April 17th we received a call from the loan officer indicating that we had a major problem with the GEMB account. The issue at hand was the account number on our monthly bill, and the online receipts was not the same number reported on my credit report. As a result we contacted GEMB immediately this day to see if we could get this issue resolved urgently.

I do not have the name of the first young lady we spoke with on the 17th around 4pm, however she should be given an award for the way she handled the situation. This young lady spoke with me and my wife as we explained the situation to her. She confirmed that she was in an inbound call center, and needed to get a supervisor on the line. During the call the following parties were represented (loan officer, underwriter, me and my wife and the representative from your company).

A supervisor by the name of Carol came on the line, and we inquired if she could fax something over to us indicating the two account numbers were linked. Carol confirmed that she was not able to fax or e-mail any account numbers over the phone. We asked if any special concession could be made due to the error, and the substantial payment that was made. Carol was not very effective in getting this done and appeared irritated that we would make such a request. We then requested that she send something overnight to us, to send to underwriter. Carol indicated that if we would pay for it she would send it to any address we wish. My loan officer EJ Bermudez with Southwest Funding provided her with a FEDEX account number to send the written letter for next day delivery, since regular mail would take too long as she had previously confirmed. Carol confirmed that it was 5pm and FEDEX, had picked up their last delivery for the day and would send it the next day. Although we were not happy with that response, what else could we do at that time but pray that she does what is requested on Friday, April 18th.

On Saturday, I received a call from the loan officer that the package was not delivered. I then attempted to contact GEMB, and was not successful in getting through. Today I contacted GEMB at 9am (CST), and kept calling until I was able to reach a representative at 11am (CST). My wife was on the call with me as we spoke with a young lady by the name of Elizabeth. She confirmed that she needed verbal authorization to speak with my wife who was on the call as well. I gave her this confirmation and she was not very helpful with my wife at all. Elizabeth kept speaking to me over my wife as if she was not on the call. My wife explained to her that we were trying to obtain a tracking number, since the package was not delivered as requested. Elizabeth confirmed that she had no record of a tracking number, but did have record that it was sent out on Friday. At that time my wife asked her if she could speak to Carol, and Elizabeth confirmed that she did not know who Carol was. My wife then asked to speak to a supervisor, in an attempt to get some kind of help to resolve this issue.

Elizabeth confirmed that due to the high call volume she could not get a supervisor on the line. My wife emphasized how important and urgent this was, and stated she would not release the line until she was able to speak with a supervisor. At that time Elizabeth confirmed that she would not get a supervisor on the line, and could not keep her waiting any longer. Then she turned the conversation to me, and stated Mr. Edmond I will have someone call you back and requested a call back number.

Please help me understand how it so important to GEMB to answer the calls of customers, but you can not help a customer that is currently on the line. Please help me understand how you are not willing to get a supervisor/manager on the line in this urgent situation. Again my wife refused to get off the line and stated she had been waiting for 35 minutes, and was willing to wait longer for a supervisor. At that time Elizabeth said thank you for calling and hung up on us.

Furious for being hung up on, we called back immediately and were not able to get through the line. After several call back attempts, I finally held on for 45 minutes and spoke with a young man named Brandon. At that time I explained to him that I needed to speak to a supervisor and why. Again, I was told I could not speak with a supervisor, and that someone would call me back due to high call volume.

The day has come to a close on Monday and not only has no one from your company called us back, we still have not received our package or tracking number. My primary issues with your company and your representatives are:

1. GE Money Bank in error failed to report the correct account number to the credit bureau. Had the correct number been reported we would not have had the issues above.
2. Carol could not make any special concessions due to your company’s error with the credit bureau to get a letter to us. Surely something else could have been done that day, and she could have gone the extra mile for a customer just once.
3. Elizabeth was very rude and refused to help us in anyway, as she totally disregarded my wife and hung up on us. Since when did we start hanging up on customers?

Please know that this behavior is unacceptable and my wife let her know this, and as a result we have decided to escalate this issue. At this point we will more than likely not be able to close on our home Friday, April 25th due to your companies error with the credit bureau. As a result we have to suffer for an error that had nothing to do with us as card holder. However, had it been the other way around and not made payments that would have been reported to the bureau immediately. In addition I am sure someone from GEMB’s outbound collections center would have been blowing our phone up.

My current balance is $1900 which I plan to pay off very soon. Please know that I plan to report this to the Better Business Bureau, and do not plan to do business with the company going forward. It is very clear to me as a card holder that they just in in the business of answering calls, but not actually helping customers in need.

A very disgruntled dissatisfied customer,

GE Money Bank Payment address switched!

We received a letter from GE Bank stating that our payment had been sent to the wrong address. We used their pre-printed return coupon. In addition, we were never notified that our payment address had been changed. GE Bank should reverse any late charges and remove any negative reports they sent regarding our credit.

Not sending statements is a violation of the Fair Credit Billing Act, and should be reported to the Federal Trade Commission and the Office of Thrift Supervision. Consistently late arrivals also have to be reported. Of course they blame the USPS for late delivery and that is a reason of occassional lateness, not consistent. That means they are not mailing them out early enough - probably on purpose.

My Guess is they changed the address the payment was sent to in order to pad your bills with late fees and interest. That is why they used the old address on the statement coupon.
This must also be reported - they should not be charging late fees for their errors.

I signed up for on-line statements, because the statements I received in the mail came so late each month and did not leave me enough time to mail my payments. GEMoney does not send me the on-line statements. I have to watch my account very carefully. Also, when they do send a statement, the website address link does not work.

GE Money Bank No bill or call, straight to collection!

GE Money Bank aka Aquavantage and INDIA collection Company ENCORE. Opened account for Spa. 6 months 0 interest. Received confirmation of account being opened. 6 Months later we start receiving constant harassing phone calls from Encore collections. Never received a bill from GE, never received a pre collection notice, never received a phone call from GE or Aquavantage either, even though they obviously KNOW our address and phone number. Encore out of INDIA calls every 30 min 7 days a week!

Now GE wants to make a deal for payment in full to drop late fees etc... but from what we see they cant be trusted so how do we pay this off? Anyone suing GE Money Bank or suggestions on how to ENSURE a payment would be applied correctly? What do we do when they destroy our credit unjustly?

I had problems with my bank last year. Same crap, no response, rude people, I even contacted the Federal reserve bank (They're a joke). So I decided to handle the matter myself. I took them with NO attorney to small claims court and WON! If you know the situation and you have your documentation (MUST have documentation) then GO FOR IT!

Bank ended up paying me what they owed plus the attorney THEY hired, plus court costs and THEIR attorney hired a court reporter they had to pay for. When my name was announced in court and then the bank's, people turned around and looked me like I was crazy and I am, like a fox.

So I suggest you go to small claims and in the meantime let them know harrassment is against the law. If possible change your phone number or screen your calls. Good Luck!

GE Money Bank INCURRED INTEREST

I was offered GE CARE CREDIT for a ton of denistry i needed including Caps for many teeth. I started the work after applying for the CARE CREDIT. Was told that no interest would be on the card till after 18 months.

I began paying regular payments to them on time each month. The last statement I received showed an INCURRED finance charge of 1300.00. I called immediately stating that I wanted to pay the balance since the offer expired. They told me to make an immediate online payment and that the charges would be reversed. I did that the same day.

I received a letter today stating that they won't reverse the charges. That the offer expired Mid March. I received the statement the day the offer expired. I called to see what the balance was. Paid the balance and now in their opinion I was late on the expiration of the offer so owe ALL THE FINANCE CHARGES
for 18 Months. In reality I owe them 10 days worth the finance charges.

I was told today when I called after receiving the letter to decline the reversal of the Finance Charges that there was no recourse or place for me to dispute this. I was very upset and not sure what to do.

I had no intention of paying finance charges for 9000.00 worth the dental work done from day one- and called to pay it off. How can they get away with charing me this wehn I payed the amount off within 10 days of the expiration of the offer. I feel i was SCAMMED here.

HELP!

i just sent the below email to the emergency vet that recommended Care Credit to me:

Good morning,

I just wanted you all to know that I truly believe GE Capital/ Care Credit is by far the WORST company I have ever dealt with . Not just the worst creditor but the worst in any industry.

I believe before recommending them to your patients that stress be placed on this fact. The customer service is poor and the interest and fees are obscene.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place, I opted to open an account with these people and do not forsee a way out at this point. They take advantage of their account holders in unimaginable ways.

I dont fault C-Vets at all but I regret having my name and credit opened to these people and I most certainly do not recommend it.

I cannot believe that I also have been taken by this company. I was aware of the 18 month interest free policy, but was never aware that all the interest for the total loan was going to be added. I thought that interest would be charged only on the remaining balance. My original loan was for 3000.00, as of this month it is now over 1900.00! This is crazy! I have never once been late on a payment and it was never pointed out to me that all the accrued interest would be added. I am going to get in contact with my attorney. I have found out today that they added 1040.00 interest! That is way more than I would pay on my regular credit card. Something needs to be done with this company!

I thought Care Credit was a great option at first. The last year I have been paying off a $2900 dental bill. I paid on time every month. Always on time, never the minimum...this month my promotion ended. I had $400 on left to pay off. I was charged 367 dollars in interest. I was dumb, I'll admit, but I never would have thought that a card that I got through my dentist would wind up being the #1 worst credit card I have ever used. I should have used a normal credit card. I was slammed this month hard. I called to see if I could just pay off the $400 dollars and was told by customer service agent#1 "we have been paying 2900 of your dental bill for a year, this is the interest for us doing that" WHAT! I was so excited to be done with this card and would have used it again. I now have double what I thought I would pay off and while the manager was a bit nicer in terms of service, he was no more helpful. I was informed I received the notice every month. Unfortunately, I pay my bills online. I never checked anything other than whether or I had additional charged on my card (theft). I just paid. I only noticed this almost 100% increase in debt b/c I was shredding old bills. I was told there was nothing they could do, I should have read the fine print. Lesson learned. It's disgusting this card was promoted by a trusted dentist office. I would expect this from an internet scam but not from the dentist. While it's not 10000 dollars or anything I still feel like they completely used their placement and the fact that most people don't read every part of their bills to their advantage. Do NOT trust this card. Get a regular credit card, GE Care Credit is the worst.

The worst company on the planet and when they call, you cannot even understand them. I have asked for someone to speak to me in English that I could understand which is your right. This is where President Obama needs to step up and slap these companys down. This is a good reason why people are having a tough time paying bills because of companys like this that take advantage of people.

I am going to small claimes on Dec 8 2009. Same song & dance as everyone else. We should set up a class action case. I set up auto bill pay with care credit to be paid on the 15th of ea month. I paid the first bill only 15 days after my first of 3 Dentist visits. I paid twice the minimum balance. and continued for 11 months. durring the 11 months I kept seeing finance charges so I kept calling asking why? I was on a 12 month interest free plan. They said it would fall off if paid before 12 months so at 11 months I figured I owed $25 to pay off the loan so I called to verify, they said I owed $378. I asked why they said I had 4 lates? $39 ea. I Still have not seen a statement that shows any lates and I set up auto bill pay thru them. So the math says 39x4 =156? whats the rest? they said they put my pmts toward the last visits not the first so because of the late fees I now am getting charged 29% interest. When I went to court 2 months ago the courts served them with a certified letter that was rejected by Ralph Stern the agent for service at care credit. So now I have to get the Sherriff to serve them. Hidden fees, missleading advertisement and a bill that would confuse Bill Gates.

My complaint against GE Care Credit is much different. I understand the repayment and deferred interest policies. I have been faithfully making my payments for services BUT because of my pay dates I make my payments at a specified time of the month (the beginning). My payment in July happened to fall on the day that my bill cycled. Instead of applying the payment to the CURRENT bill cycle they applied it to the overall balance. Because of this they considered that no payment was made in July at all ao they charged me a 39.95 late fee. I was completely oblivious to this. The same thing happened in August...another 39.95 late fee. When I called & made them aware that all of my payments have been made I was told that I am not allowed to make the payments before or the day of my billing cycle...they MUST be made after the cycle date for them to appear as current payments...I told them that I understood & in the future would keep that in mind if they would please just issue a credit for the 80.00 in late fees. I was then told that all they could issure credit for was 20.00...1/2 of the first late fee! I am absolutely astounded! I am now refusing to make any payments until I see a credit for the entire amount of both late fees. I really don't care if it ruins my credit. I am sick of big companies thinking that they can rip people off for fear of a bad credit rating!

I have been screwed myself several times by Care Credit and thought I was done. No one explained or provided ANY detail about an 18 month deadline to finish payments. I lost my job last fall and reduced monthly payments assuming that I would not be paying extra fees. Thank goodness I just checked my account but even still its impossible for me to find the details of when they provided me with the 18 month expiration date. I have since spoken to 2 customer service agents, and one debt support agent and they were all awful. I am so glad I found this site, because it looks like I'm not alone. I have called Credit Counseling services at [protected] to get some support. That number was given to my by one of the Care Credit agents and he explained it was part of their company. Wrong! In any case, I'm passing on the word to others. DO NOT USE Care Credit as they will find a way to keep information from you, and provide no assistance. I’m complaining to the dentist as well. This fiasco started in Oct 07 and I never received any bills. When my braces arrived, I asked the dentist how to pay and he was shocked I hadn't received a bill. After calling CC I learned that they were charging me huge finance charges, but I fought to have them removed. They did, but no one ever told me I had an18 month deadline, and even if they did, I only began payments in 08.

I had no idea about what the interest penalties were, my son is unemployed, and the loan is in his name. I have been paying as much as I could afford on time and went in today to look at the balance, which should have been under $2, 000, only to find they had tacked on almost 30% interest on the amount, about $600. which just at that point all the payments I have made have been for nothing. Who needs an interest free loan, it's a scam and only an idiot would say it's not, it's a way to stick you with interest above and beyond a decent interest rate (what, now about 10 to 12%?) I am just beside myself with disgust at this company.

I also had dental care last summer and had to take out a GE Care Credit account. I paid my monthly payment on time each and every month, never late, always made a payment of more than the minium, yet feel I was scammed by this company also. Very had to reach a customer service representative, but I purposely was late with the 14th payment so that someone might contact me. They did...someone outsourced from India called me on Friday morning telling me I was late with my payment. I asked them to get a message through to CS because I wanted to speak to someone with the capacity to explain why I had an increase in my balance OF ALL INTEREST incurred from day one of my account. He explained that he could not reach anyone for me and that I must keep trying to call in to CS on the 800 number.

I finally reached someone who explained that I missed the "fine print" at the bottom of my statement (not in the portion of bill that showed balance, payment, etc.).. My promotional period had run out at 12 months and I had 22% of all interest from day one added to my balance! I have no other option than to pay this off as quickly as possible. I will not EVER do business with GE CARE CREDIT again. What a way to make money...to be unfair with your customers and intentionally try to rip each and every customer off.

I would advise anyone you know not to use GE Care Credit. Their goal is to find some excuse to whack you with that deferred finance charge.
I have read where customers mailed payments in plenty of time, only to have the company not post the payment until after the due date. The finance charge is incurred, and the customer has no appeal or recourse.
Bottom line is to tell everyone you know to avoid Care Credit.

GE Money Bank mishandled- account, customer service, wrongful finance charges

I am in the same situation as many of the people that have complained.
I purchased a Select Comfort bed along with some accessories in July 2006 which was financed through GE Money Bank. The bed was supposed to be delivered within two weeks and the rest of the merchandise was taken from the store the same day. Following a week after the purchase, I was notified by my unit that I was going to deploy in the beginning of August 2006 so I called Select Comfort and cancelled the bed delivery along with my account and asked how to return the merchandise I already had. Select Comfort sent me free shipment labels and informed me that they accredited back the Bed purchase and no delivery fees where posted to my GE Money account and once they received the rest of the merchandise, my GE Money account balance would be zero. Select Comfort received the remaining merchandise during the month of August 2006. I deployed on the same month and returned on October 2007. I started receiving calls from GE Money bank telling me I owe them $500.00 dollars. When I informed them that my account had been cancelled in August 2006 and that all merchandise purchased from Select Comfort had been returned on that same month, they told me I actually only owed $300.00 but they couldn't exactly tell me why I was being charged that amount. I disputed the charges and refused to pay until they made an investigation. I also called Select Comfort to verify that they had received the returned merchandise. Select Comfort was able to confirm receiving their merchandise and assured me that I had no outstanding balance with them. When I told them that GE Money bank was trying to charge me $300.00, Select Comfort sent them the information. Since I do not owe GE Money Bank anything, I have refused to pay them. The late fees have been adding on and on as time passes by. Now Encore has been involved and I am being harassed on a daily basis from 6 in the morning to midnight. I don't know what else to do...

In addition, GE Money Bank's customer service is the worst. Their employees do not speak english. I can never understand them. They do not care and are never helpful and extremely incompetent. When asked a question they always transfer you to another person who does not speak english as well and your problem never gets resolved. It's a never ending cycle and in the meantime, late charges keep getting added on to your account every month. I have asked to get a mailed bill to see what they are charging me for since November of 2007. It is now April 2008 and my issue has not been resolved and no bill has been sent to me justifying their charges.

WOW! Wish I had known all this prior to taking out a Care Credit account.

I called to ask about a finance charge on my account, was suppose to be no interest for a year. I was first told I should learn to read my statements and it was the providers fault. I wasn't given a chance to get a word in edge wise. I was then told by the rep she didn't even have help me, she was there only for information.
I then got a supervisor and she was as rude as the first girl. The supervisor also told me she didn't have to talk to me or help. I was told to pay the finance charge or call the provider. When I told her I was going to close my account she said "that GE/Care Credit didn't care one way or the other" . Actually, they both told me that.

The 2nd supervisor was nicer and listened. However, I didn't get any further. I was given the El Paso address to send my complaint.

Never again... I am notifying my providers of the problems, maybe they'll stop using them. I'm also paying my account in full.

GE Money Bank Unauthorized billing!

I am very frustrated with this company. Five years ago I bought a $1000 t.v. on store credit, paid it off, no biggie. Two years ago I requested an increase in credit from a major credit card company. Denied, bad credit. I investigated and learned GE money bank had erroneously reported I had a bankruptcy on the account with which I purchased the t.v. They apologized and assured me it was fixed.

One year later I went to purchase a car. It was not fixed. Again I called. They were more sorry than before. Again I was assured it was fixed. This time I wasn't so stupid and kept their letter than supposedly absolved my of this faux credit sin. It clearly says, my account had been corrected and reported to all three reporting companies.

Yesterday I went for a home loan. GE Money Bank reported to all 3 credit companies the exact error I was trying to fix: I had closed the account due to my bankruptcy. My nearly 800 credit score is hovering at 700 thanks to them. When I called customer service I am transferred to bankruptcy services. They are closed after I get of work.

Now I need to take work time to straighten this all out. I am left feeling very much like a victim since I have only paid all my debts on time, and take great pride in my score. I will get a higher APR on the house I am buying because of an error I didn't make.

I wish they would just fix it, and immediately correct my problem. I will make certain in the future to NEVER get a credit card with this company again. If your credit matters to you the way my credit matters to me, do not ever take a card with this rinky dink company. They perpetuated fraud on my good name.

I agree that GE Money Bank is a fraud. They have been debiting my son's account. I have power of attorney, and what I have found out that someone has taken my daughter-in-law id opened up a credit card account, have the payments debited from my son's account. I went to bank filed out ACH unauthorized Debit . so what does GE Money do, they try to debit the account with a different id for them. luckly my bank caught it. I mailed them a priority mail certified letter in which they have to sign for. in it was my power of attorney (copy of course), copy of letter to bbb, my bank and the state attorney of florida case no. I also requested they contacted the fake daughter in law and get their payments from her and I requested the mailing address to this fake daughter in law. Well guess what, it's been two weeks and i have not received my green delivery card. They probably refused to take delivery.

GE Money Bank Unfair fees!

I applied for a GE Money credit card to purchase brand new tires for my suv. The promotion stated that I would not be charged interests as long as I make the minimum payments before the due dates on the bill and if I paid the full balance before the promotional expiration date of april 16, 2008. I make each payment by the due dates... right on time. This one payment was paid on time (Dec. 2007)... the next statement (Jan. 2008) even states that it was paid. So I was shocked when they send the February statement, stating that not only did I not make the January installment, but they also charged two late fees of $39. each (total of $78).. plus a $29 charge for return check fee. This makes it a total of $107 in fees that accrued. NOT FROM MY ERROR. I sent payment... the money was in my checking account. I visited my bank to see what happened to that check. The bank tells me that the check never came through. It never went to my bank to be returned / rejected. Why are they charging me $29 for a return check fee? Late fees of $39... TWICE. I wasn't late. They sent me a statement saying they got the check. But somehow from getting my check... they either lost it... THEIR bank lost it. Or they just decided to shred the check... make believe I never sent it in, and started charging me all these fees totaling $107. SINCE I always make payments on time, they weren't going to earn any extra money from me in finance charges, so they have to make it up with these bogus fees. It wasn't an error on my part. THEY SCREWED UP. Why should I pay for their mistake.

So I send them a letter explaining my position with proof (copies of all my statements)... they send me a letter saying they will not remove those charges. This company sounds very unprofessional and I want to lodge a formal complaint. I have proof that I made payments ON TIME. I should not have to pay an extra $107 for THEIR MISTAKE. Thank you...

I agree totally with the statements here included. They have scammed me 230 dollars. Today, February 18, I asked them to close the account today. I will pay what they want and want to be rid of them. The supervisor told me I owe 82.56 and that if I pay with a card that they will not be able to

I would like to join any of the class action suites.

The company is incompetent They don't have an email in their web page. The bills in the web do not reflect the true state of the account. They keep putting bogus charges. I called in December and the operator told me that if I paid x amount I would be up to date and would not have to pay any more. I thought I was done with this account. But, no, they charged me another 190 dollars for month and a half. I called to be sure that the account was in O and it was not, it had a balance of 190 dollars.

The company operators are not given all the info. on the account in a timely manner.

DO NOT, do not, ask for paperless statements! You would never know what they are charging you for!

I am reporting them.

oh good grief, if i had only read all of this about GE money bank before i purchased my tires at Discount Tire. I purchased my tires in mid April. I received my 1st statement on 5/29/08. noticed my minimum payment was doubled and also was charged a $39.00 late fee. I blew a gasket & called them immediately. Of course the person on the other end of the phone could barely speak any English, which made my conversation even more difficult. i demanded he remove the late charge as this was the first of any info ever received and that my purchase was only 30 days ago & there was no way I was already late. Apparently, they had mailed my card somewhere but not my house. So now there is a credit card floating around God knows where with my name on it. Demanded they cancel the card immediately & that I would not be responsible for any charges. They charged interst on the late fee and then wanted to collect a payment from me while we were on the phone. The man said he would remove late fee & balance would return to actual due. Told him to straighten this up or i would return merchadise. attitude changed fast. The very next morning @ 8:00 the harrasment started- told her to check her notes as this was handled & to stop calling. (Another foreigner) kept asking me to postdate a check. i said hello no. i just got my statement yesterday & my due date was mid june. everyday from that day forward received calls. called discount tire to advise. Mgr stated numerous complaints. told him that GE money was going to kill any future business for them. Do not look forward to my future dealings with this company (GE). Told callers that I would file harrassments charges o n them - now they call & hang up on answering machine without messages! If you are considering doing any business with GE Money- RUN like hell, unless you enjoy dealing with this kind of crap! Making first payment today & can't wait to see what happens now after reading all the above complaints. Jeez... should have just paid cash!

Ditto, this company takes the cake when it comes to unfair charges, unfair credit reporting, and fee income. Just the same here, owed a certain amount, thought it was paid and then SURPRISE, the next statement late fee and a balloon of all the interest. I refuse to pay, they continue top destroy my credit, and GE makes out. This company has serious ethical issues. The address I was given because they would not allow me to talk with anyone but ID NUMBER 74000 who treats here callers as just a number as well, for goodness sakes, why in the world would they consisder a late fee as NOT A PART OF THE ORIGIN AL BALANCE so they can give a consumer a break! HECK KNOW, the big executives want to make ther milions a year. PROTEST THESE CREDIT CARD RINGS AND BRING BACK THE RIGHTS TO THE CONSUMERS!

GE Money Bank Unfair finance charges!

I have yet another similar story with regard to GE Money Bank. I purchased exercise equipment on a 12 months same as cash account through GE Money Bank. Payment in full date was Dec. 5, 2007. I sent them a check on November 19, 2007 which was cashed and cleared my bank on November 26, 2007. Since then I have been the victim of several nasty phone calls from their credit department asking me to make a payment. I have explained to each person that has called (from various countries) the situation and they apparently do not understand a word of English. I have called GE Money Bank myself, faxed and sent via mail copies of the canceled check and still I have continued to be charged and nothing was posted to my account.

After 3 months of this run around, I contacted the Better Business Bureau, which I encourage everyone to do likewise at http://welcome.bbb.org/ and send them a copy of the complaint you have registered here. Within 10 days of contacting them, I received a note from GE Money Bank saying they now located my check and have posted it to my account and "in the interest of customer service removed the late fees that were charge for the period of time AFTER the due date"! They did NOT remove the finance charges that should never have been charged in the first place, because the bill was Paid In Full PRIOR to the due date! They also asked for my complaint to be removed from the BBB records and said this was an isolated incident! They apparently lie in addition to cheat hard working people out of their money.

I would like to know what genius works for GE Money Bank that considered themselves generous in removing a charge that should never have been charged in the first place and then went on to neglected to remove the finance charges on the original amount that was paid in FULL as per the agreement which states, and I quote: "You will incur no Finance Charges on a deferred interest promotional purchase, provided the promotional purchase amount is pain in full by the indicated promotional expiration date and you pay by the payment due date"!

It is apparent to me that several people have been robbed by this company. I agree, a class action suit would be appropriate, when I add up the hours I have spent trying to resolve this problem, the least they can do is compensate me and all of you for our time, since they seem happy to charge US for theirs!

Just like all the rest. I ALWAYS pay on time and now I got 2 late fees of 35.00 and all of a sudden my prom. period was up. I had no idea, I swear it's wrong, but they say it's right. For a 3,000.00 loan they want 535.00. It was due 6 days ago. 1,200.00 was pd off. How rude they were on the phone, unreal.

Everyone with a complaint must write to the BBB, maybe it will help in the long run, but until then what do we do? Plz advise smb!

GE Money Bank FRAUD !!!!

GE MONEY BANK IS A JOKE! I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF MOVING AND DECIDED TO PURCHASE A NEW BEDROOM SET AND MATTRESS FROM SLEEPYS. I WAS OFFERED A ZERO INTEREST CARD FROM GE MONEY AND THOUGHT IT WAS A GREAT IDEA BECAUSE I COULD PAY OFF THE TOTAL AMOUNT IN ONE YEAR AND NOT HAVE TO PAY INTEREST ON THE PURCHASE. WHEN I MADE THE PURCHASE I GAVE MY NEW ADDRESS WHERE ALL OF THE ITEMS WERE DELIVERED. A FEW MONTHS AFTER THE PURCHASE I REALIZED I NEVER RECEIVED A BILL FROM GE MONEY, SO I CALLED AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE MONTHLY STATEMENT WAS MAILED OUT AND I WAS NOT PAYING SO THE INTEREST RATE WAS NOW 28.9%. AFTER FIGHTING WITH SOMEONE THAT BARELY SPOKE ENGLISH AND GETTING A MANAGER ON THE PHONE THEY AGREED THEY WOULD SEND ANOTHER BILL (WHICH IN FACT THEY NEVER DID) AND WOULD TAKE OFF THE INTEREST ONE LAST TIME AND GIVE ME ANOTHER CHANCE. LITTLE DID I KNOW THAT THE SAME THING WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN! I DECIDED TO OPEN UP AN ACCOUNT ONLINE AND PAY MONTHLY. IN THE LAST YEAR I HAVE WASTED HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH THIS COMPANY AND HAVE RECEIVED 3 BILLS WHEN IN FACT I SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED 12 BY NOW. I PAID OFF THE TOTAL AMOUNT AND NEVER WANT TO DEAL WITH GE MONEY AGAIN. THEY ARE LIARS AND LOOK TO MAKE MONEY OFF PEOPLE THAT WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR A MISTAKE ON THEIR BEHALF. BE CAREFUL!

I have suffered the same issues of GE not posting payments. I paid the balance off a month prior to the "No Interest" deadline and they conveniently did not post the payment. Now I am fighting with them over the Huge interest charge they are trying to get me to pay. I will be filing a formal law suit with them and hopefully a smart attorney will see the huge money to be made by a class action against these crooks. It appears they have a set operational procedures in place to violate the payment posting laws in order to make interest on non interest loans. Incredible scam...

GE Money is a scam in all areas. I paid a bill online then they started sending my bill instead of in the mail to my hotmail. It went to my junk folder. They said I signed up for it and I have been charged all the additional fees 9 months now. This crap with credit cards and banks needs to stop. They are finding innovative ways to rip people off. It is tough in this economy!

We bought new leather furniture with the 0% interest promotion and used Citi. GEMB took over Citi's accounts in Feb 2011 and since then it has been a disaster. I pay my bill every month and was going to pay the balance the last month, and COINCIDENTALLY did not recieve the statement for the last month when the interest started to accrue. After tons of phone calls and time wasting disputes we finally got the interest charges dropped, but not without a huge headache. What a scam. This company is just plain crooked,

@rotorjockey

On 09.19.09 I purchased a wonderful mattress from Sleepy's and two weeks later, set up an automatic payment plan over the phone with a man who could hardly speak English.
After being hung up on 3 times, he collected my credit card information and assured me that the amount would be deducted monthly.
Now.
On 1.02.10 I received a statement that claimed that I owed them money by 1.04.10 and that I had never paid.
I'm a busy person and don't have time for this.
I attempted to contact them to set it up over and over again to no avail.
Today, 1.20.10, I received another bill stating that I had never paid and owe them money in late fees.
How am I, a hard working and well off individual, supposed to pay when I am given no opportunity to do so?
My assistant contacted them and she was met with an argumentative representative who only after 5 demands of her location, admitted she was in India.
Why is my money handler located in India I ask?
After demanding to speak to the representative's manager several times she was hung up on.
She called GEMB back and was on hold for 25 minutes only to be disconnected again.
I then, personally, contacted Sleepy's and was met with understanding, and spoke with a representative named Mary who was only slightly shocked - as she had THE EXACT SAME THING happen to her with GEMB through a purchase she made at PC Richards about a year ago.
Currently, I am awaiting a manager from Sleepy's to call me back, but we'll see if that happens - they know who they're in bed with.
I'm fully on board for a class action law suit to shut this company down.
Why it's legal to outsource the handling of American finances in India I will never understand.
How can we have any rights as American customers if we are being fingered by a company based in India?

I have had similar problems where GEMB has opened accounts I did not authorize and they are now charge offs after years of disputing. I requested proof, such as a signed credit contract and they denied me on that request. I am now contacting the Attorney Generals office for the state the credit app was submitted in and I am also looking into a class action law suit as well as pressing charges of Identitiy theft and credit fraud against their CEO. I would love to shut this company down. Please comment if you would be interested in joining a class action lawsuit.

GE Money Bank GAP/GE MONEY BANK

I had gotten on a papyment plan with the GAP. At that time i was told my account would be handled by GE Money Bank. The funnything was I still recieved GAP statements, but GAP could not process my payments. One time a collection person called for payment. I sugested we set aup a future payment, he ignored my request. Finally GE money bank aparently sold my account to yet another dept who never notifed me of the swith and the possiblity of sending my accounto to WEST ASSETS who turned it over to Hollander LAW firm. If this isn't the best example f passing the buck... Also they are passing my personal info around with no regard to my privacy. Never sent a warning letter, never told me my account was "sold" I found out by calling myseldf to get my payment plan plan back on track which I have in writing was effetive to 2/08. I am happy to see I am not alone, but as the rep on the phone told me They make mistakes! When will they be held accountable? I will not shop at GAP EVER AGAIN!

We have had similar experiences. We purchased goods from the Gap Kids and received a bill some months later for $219. owing on a $35.00 purchase. The difference was in accumulated interest charges. Funny thing is, we never signed up for a Gap credit card or account as we do not live in the US and do not receive mail here. The address they had was partially in the US and partially in Canada. To the best of our recollection, we paid the $35. in cash or our own credit card.

We will never buy Gap again. They should seriously overhaul their credit operations. In this economy, their days are numbered.

If you will check my account you will see that I won an auction for a brand new Cisco computer product for $369.00 and when the product arrived the product simply was not new. I asked the seller to pick up the item and I promised the seller that I would not give him a negative rating if he picked up the item. He refused to pick up the item so I was forced to give him a negative rating and I put the charge for the item on my Paypal account in dispute.

Having had experience with other reputable credit card companies I expected your company would force the seller to pick up the item or face a back charge. Instead I was forced to send it back to the seller or I would have been stuck paying for a product I did not order. This policy really shows that you hate your customers and therefore I do not want to have anything to do with your outfit. Note in the future I will be closing this account and using other credit cards to pay for my purchases on EBay. I remain

GE Money Bank LOC account, access denied!

I opened a GE Line of Credit account in eary 2006. I wrote 1 check and paid it off entirely in November of 2007. Last week I went to their website to order additional checks to access the account and was told that my request was denied and that I would receive a letter in 7-10 days explaining the reason. The letter came yesterday (2/24/2008) and they referenced some perceived issues with my credit report. I can see doing this for a new account but not one that has been open for several years with no missed payments or other issues. I will never do business with this company again.

I worked for GE in Australia. We should spread the word! Thier bonus structures are based on ripping people off. Get the fat cats fatter and have all of the workers get nuthin. ### GE fraudsters, should be shut down and given no federal funding.

But on my credit report it shows I still owe $1, 782.00. What a scam I payed every payment on time. I ALSO WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH GE

We purchased a TV through Howards in Long Beach California with a year interest free through GE Money Bank. P.O Box 981127 El Paso Tx [protected]. We received our bill and sent our cheque to ensure it was pain on time. When we received our next bill sure enough no payment was shown. When we called them up they offered a $50.00 credit but charged $250.00 late fees. This is certainly a scam. I would never buy anything linked to this company again.

GE Money Bank Closing of my account!

I received a letter from GE Money Bank stating it was closing my account number ending in _ _ _ _ ... I do not have any such account, nor do I have any delinquent accounts, nor do I have any stocks, nor do I do any trading, etc., as it states in the printed letter I received from GE Money Bank.

Of course, it also states that if I have any questions regarding this letter, I could write to them at P.O. Box 981440, El Paso, TX. 79998 .

I have no idea what this is about... What is going on...

GEBM is a sorry excuse for a financial organization. I opened an account at a building material store, used it for about 6 months, and ran it up to 5-6k, and paid it off . Have not used the card for 2 years and go to use it and the card is a zero limit. I call for an "increase" and they tell me no. With a 39% dept to credit ratio and no negatives and 770 credit score they say in their letter my credit report was used as basis to deny.

What Freaking ###s.

Have you checked your credit report to see if there are any accounts you don't recognize? Perhaps there is someone opening accounts in your name?

GE Money Bank Overpayment!

I was paying the minimum payment on my credit card because I did not have any interest charges for one year, I schedule to pay in full by the due date, but for some reason didn't go thru, so I call the same day and made the payment over the phone, and they assured me that my balance was zero, that I don't have to worry about any more, but the next month the payment went thru and they took the full amount from my checking acc, I call customer service to complain about it, and I demanded my money back, but first they try to convince me that I have credit on my cc, which I can use it any time, I request my money back in my checking acc, but they refuse to do it, saying they will send the check over the mail, which will take long time to process, and my checking acc is charge overdraft fee,

I overpaid my Jc Penney account by $5, 500 to be able to buy furniture at 10% during Christmas. They put a block on my account and I had to buy the furniture with another way. Now they won't refund my credit balance because I don't have my receipts from paying the bill.

GE MONEY BANK WHAT A RIP OFF!

I purchased furniture from Ethan Allen 1 year interst free when it was due I used my BOA online bill pay to pay it payment was due on the 25 of May and came out of my account on the 15 of May, I had put one extra 6 on the account number so the check was returned to the bank. When I received notice that the check was being returned to the bank I called GE Money Bank I also had BOA do a 3 way call to these people to tell them that the funds came out of my account on the 15 of May and why the check was returned to the bank. Needless to say there is no way to get through to these people they gave us a 800 number and told BOA to send a fax which they did, I just recived a letter that I owe $301.07 in intrest and there is nothing the can do to reverse the charges. I have paid off the bill and will never use GEMB again. Beware GE MONEY BANK IS A SCAM AND BIG RIP OFF

GE Money Bank Rude and continuous calls

Calls come 5 or more times a day. Caller refuses to identify themself or their company. All callers are rude. When asked to remove our number from the list, one said, "These calls will keep coming until you give us the information."

Welcome to GE Money. They do the same thing to me, looking for my girlfriend. They call me every Saturday at 8:00am and every 15 minutes afterwards. If you ask who is calling, they will give you their name, but refuse to say "GE Money". I finally got one of their rude agents to stay on the phone long enough for me to explain that if they call my house repeatedly and refuse to identiffy themselves honestly, that it is harrassment and I am within my rights to contact the authorities and file charges against them. That is when they finally admitted to being GE Money.

GE Money keeps calling my house for someone who no longer lives there and they refuse to take my number out of their listings. I have filed a complaint with the do not call registry and now they are calling our cell phones because it was on our recording because we didn't want to miss any calls for a car we had for sale. My husband works for the Sheriff's department and they called him on the phone while he was in a trial. He is furious and wants to get these callers into trouble. They won't believe we don't know where this person is at. I don't like the fact that our number was given without our permission and now we can't get rid of this rude caller.

GE Money Bank Vehicle Financing

I signed a contract with a local dealer here in SF for $39 a month at 8% on a 2007 Honda Ruckus. I have this offer in writing. This is a special that is widely advertised all over the internet. I financed through Money bank for the above amount. I never received one single statement in the mail until about three months after I rode the bike home. Ive been getting bombarded by calls from Honda saying that I owe $59 a month, plus late fees. I often call the dealership and GE Money bank to dispute these differing payment amounts and they ignore me. I explained to GE Money Bank that I have a contract but they will not honor it. I got frustrated and paid them off in full. The next statement came and reflected no change - now the minimum payment is $90, there is an even higher interest rate, and more finance fees. They consistently send me the statement AFTER payments are due, and they don't pick up the phone to take payments.

I either want them to honor the original contract of $39 per month at 8% and re-age my account to day one, or I refund all payments and late fees up until this point so that I can refinance with a legitimate institution.

Some similar things happened with me regarding Honda. I WAS late one month and they jacked the interest up to 29%. I stumped them when I told them I would leave the garage door open and they could come and get the bike. I explained that I would never pay 29% so that would be their only remedy. They put the rate back to 7.9% magically! Funny how that works.

I opened an American Honda acct 3 yrs ago and it took them three months for me to receive a statement. It took 3 months for them to add the apt# to my address. Meanwhile they're charging me fees and penalties that takes me over the limit. Let's add insult to injury...Late last yr I lost my job due to a longterm illness. Contacted them three months ago to settle. An agreement was reached in which I fulfilled my obligations within the alloted time frame, but as yet I have not received the title to the motorcycle. I'd like to sell it so I can recoup some of my losses. However it's been a non-ending nightmare of calls to 1-800 #'s to India where names like Chris, Shawn, Nicole, etc. answer and give me yet another 800 # to call. One of the 800 numbers was to a preoperative screening clinic! What are they hinting at? I can't help that I was dignosed with cancer and lost my job but come on...Now it's been 2 weeks after the account was 'charged off' and I still haven't received the title. I'm between a rock and a hard place and GEMoney is throwing rocks at me. What a disgrace!

I am in the process of filing complaints, among others, with the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs against GE Money/Honda. I was approved, through the Honda dealer in Sumter, SC, for a Honda Card, after making a $3500.00 downpayment for a no interest, no payment for six months loan . My Honda card was issued, which I have since canceled, and I traveled 500 miles to pick up the bike. When I arrived the dealer was advised that the financing offer was withdrawn. I was left with no alternative than to take Honda Financial's financing, (another entity I am told by Honda) and that I did not want to begin with. I am going to include Honda Motor Company as well in all actions. I received no satisfaction from them and they repeatedly stated they are not associated with any of this even though they allow and license their name to be used. I am also going to explore this with the Feds as well. This false representation involved interstate commerce and Honda and GE corporations may be subject to the RICO statute. The time is long overdue for the little guy to stand up and say we are mad as hell and enough is enough. I suggest everyone who feels similarly to contact their state and local consumer affairs agencies to put their cases on file!

We had the same problem with the motorcycle we bought for my husband. We did not receive any statements and answered one of the calls from GE. The address was entered wrong and I have no idea where the statements were going. I was able to get them to remove some of the late fees but it was very difficult.
