Family Dollar review: Rude employee

Date: February 11th, 2023

Time: Around 3pm CT (Just before 3, though I checked out minutes after 3 because I was still shopping around for deals.)

There was an employee who I would describe as a very short and skinny adult female, whom didn't look too young, maybe in her upper 30s or 40s. Supposedly, the end of her shift was at 3pm, and us customers did not realize she was trying to get off of work.

I didn't take my glasses inside and could not locate the expiration date on some sandwich meat (Date was on dark-colored portion of packaging), and asked her if she could point out where the date might be after I had thoroughly checked two different packages. She firmly responded "It should be over there." in an impolite manner, before I looked at her coworker for a bit who was busy bagging another customer that overheard her, back to the section for a split second pondering on triple-checking, and back to her.

She stated "I'll be right back" to the other personnel and darted past me. I followed and she checked the back and front of the package before firmly prodding her finger down at the date. "There, March 23rd!" and walked back further back with no further word.

I had overheard a conversation later while waiting in line behind other customers between her and the one employee left at the register, and she was complaining "I am supposed to be off at three. Right now it's three, and I should not have to stay here past three."

Personally, I have stayed overtime at jobs quite often, and have even assisted with loads of work on days where I was not even in at work because I knew my customers and made good friends with my coworkers. Being rude to customers and whining to other workers about their work when they are fortunate enough to have been given the job is quite unnecessary.
